Duplicate Appointments after Device Switch Wizard

I used the Device Switch Wizard for the first time and all went well... or so I thought.  After the wizard completed, emails could not be sent, only saved in draft mode.  I ran Enterprise Activation and email started flowing.  Unfortunately, the users calendar appointments seem to have been duplicated.  Deleting one appointment ends up deleting both of the appointments.
Not sure how to fix this, other than delete/re-enter the appointments... any suggestions?
Thanks for any help you may be able to offer.
Cheers,
Ken

Hello,
Device switch wizard is not a supported feature of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac. You will need to re download the applications to your new BlackBerry smartphone. The backup only saves the data and settings of the BlackBerry smartphone.
Thank you

  • DEvice Switch Wizard transferring from Palm Desktop

I just got my Blackberry 9700 replacing my previous Palm 755. When I first used the Device Switch Wizard form the Blackberry Desktop Manager I was able to transfer all the data from my Palm Desktop to my Blackberry. I performed this for about four times as I modified my contact list. Now it aborts the transfer and receive a message saying:
"Desktop organizer data was not imported successfully. Errors occurred during the process"
I have since removed the Blackberry Desktop Manager software completely and reloaded - no result. I upgraded the Desktop Manager with automatic update - no result.
Desperately need help on resolving this.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Typically, you'd want to do that action just once...to initially get your data over to your BB. After which you'd want to use a different (and compatible) PIM to manage the data on your PC. I'm thinking that perhaps you should do that -- or perhaps, given the error, move your data from your Palm PIM to a compatible PIM:

    And then configure for synchronization:

Hi and welcome to the forums!
A couple of places for you to visit: Blackberry 101    Tips & Tricks
I believe you are referring to BB Desktop Manager (not the Device Switch Wizard which is part of DM)
I suggest the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything.
Get a fresh download of the RIM DTM software:
Software Download for Blackberry Support  ((select download BB Desktop Software - once version is selected, English is 3rd (without media manager) and 4th (with media manager) options down))
    * Choose the version that is newest and (if applicable) compatible with your PIM (such as Outlook if you are synchornizing via USB):
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
    3) Install DTM to your PC
    4) Start the organizer configuration over:
KB17022 How to configure organizer applications for synchronization using BlackBerry Desktop Manager
Let us know how it goes!
    Happy to have you here!

  • Unable To Use Device Switch Wizard

    Hello,
I just bought a new Tour and want to migrate my data from my Palm Centro to the Blackberry.  I have tried using a PC with Vista x64, Vista x32 and XP Pro.  For whatever reason, the program doesn't see Palm Desktop or the Centro.  Anyone have any ideas?
    MIke

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
I seem to recall others reporting something similar...see this KB:
KB05459 How to use the Switch Device Wizard to switch from another smartphone to a BlackBerry smartphone
Unfortunately, the Centro is not listed. But, all may not be lost...see these KB's:
KB10722 BlackBerry Desktop Manager does not detect the Palm software when using the Switch Device Wizard
KB04437 How to use the organizer data migration wizard
KB04346 Field mapping list for the PIM Data Migration Wizard
And, if all else fails, you can attempt to use your Palm software to export to ASCII or CSV, and then import that via the RIM software:
KB04312 Create and synchronize with an ASCII export file
Good luck and let us know how it goes!
    Cheers!

  • HELP! Device Transfer Wizard messed up new phone's files!

Hello! I'm new to the forum. I just got a Bold 9700 today. I upgraded from a Curve 8900. I plugged my old BB into the Desktop Manager and hit the Device Switch Wizard and everything seemed to work just perfectly but when I looked through my new BB I noticed that a lot of the "new" features seem to be missing. For example there's supposed to be a folder called Instant Messaging (I don't have it). Also, there's a bunch of duplicate games and apps, etc that were present on both devices and if I try to delete the old app it deletes them both. I'm considering wiping the new phone and starting over. Any advice before I go through the trouble? Thank you in advance!

There's no problem wiping the device, but a Security Wipe likely won't remove those duplicate apps, etc.
Likewise, the SDW probably didn't remove your Instant Messaging folder.
I'd just recommend taking some time to clean up the duplicate icons, delete those apps and reload the ones you need.

  • Device Switch Copies Talk Time ?

    Morning,
I was just wondering if anyone has come across this issue as I was trying to return a Pearl that I'd purchased on Friday last week and the store policy states that within 15 days & under 15 mins of talk time they will take back a phone.  When I went into the store to do so they said I had over 7 hrs of talk time on the pearl that I'd just purchased.  Well after much frustration and calls to my carrier they allowed me to purchase the new Curve.  At the end of the whole ordeal the store manager wanted me to ensure the new phone had 0 mins of talk time and lo and behold after they'd performed the data switch from the pearl to the curve it showed the 7 hrs of talk time on the Brand New curve.  They did not know and neither did I that the Device Switch procedure that we'd originally done from an old Curve to the Pearl had copied my 7 hrs of talk time from my original curve and it's carried over to the pearl and now to the new curve.
Needless to say it causes much frustration to anyone who is trying to return a phone and the store's policy is such as mine.  Anyone who doesn't know about this little glitch in the device switch are going to encounter this problem.  Sorry for the long expaination but I'm still frustrated that I spent almost 2 hrs arguing with the store about an issue that's clearly not valid.  Is there a way to prevent copying the talk time from phone to phone ?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I reading more on the device switch wizard it does a COMPLETE device backup and then transfers to the new
phone. This would tell me the call logs are copied as well.
    Hope this helps!

  • Direct Device Switch between 8330 units via Bluetooth

Is there a way to move all device configuration settings, applications, etc. directly from one 8830 to another via Bluetooth ?
I have an 'old' 8830 with something broken (physically) in the USB connector, so I cannot connect it to my laptop & despite my best efforts, I can't seem to get the Desktop Manager to recognize it through Bluetooth (even though it does pair properly) so that I can use the Device Switch Wizard.
I have a the replacement 8830 & just want to 'clone' my first one onto it and return the old one.
Have got the two 8830s paired, but there is no clear equivalent to the Device Switch Wizard for a direct device to device connection.
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Cheers. Patio.

I don't believe you can. However, if you have the BBs paired to the PC, just sync to Outlook and resync back to the new device. That you can do.

  • HELP device switch not working between Palm and Curve

I connected both my Palm Treo and Blackberry 8330 to computer and went through the process of using the device switch wizard.  Seemed to be going well, scheduled to transfer 972 items. It got to item 946 and froze.  I've been reading on Blackberry Help and this forum for 3 hours now trying to figure out what to do.  Somewhere I read something about disabling my PIM wireless.  Read where I was to go to "address book" on home page and click "Options" in order to disable wireless.  There is NO "option" choice when I click on my address book.
Can anyone advise me as to how to fix this?  Maybe I have a corrupted file that is causing the freezing, but I have no clue as to how to fix that if that is the problem.  All I want is to transfer the info from my Palm to my Blackberry.  Didn't know it would take me all day to do this one thing. ARRGH!
I have the most recent version of the curve desktop manager software and I have the 4.1.4 Palm OS version.

Please read over this FAQ and see if any of it might apply to you.

  • Contacts, messages, history were lost after using device switch from BB 9320 to BB Classic

Hi! I recently bought a BB Classic and used to use a BB 9320, I used the device switch app to back up all these infos. turns out, most of my contacts starting august 2013 up to now were lost. Please help how I can restore my contacts. Thanks in advance

About how many contacts are you missing?
Messages are not synced from the old device, but rather from your email server. You should be able to set your message sync time frame by opening your Hub > Settings > Accounts > select your email and edit. If not, delete that account and add it back again and you'll find the "sync timeframe" in the advanced settings.
Call logs. Only the last 30 days of call logs are kept.

  • Duplicate calendar appointments after syncing outlook

I just bought the iPad 2 and I am new to iCloud, I also have iPhone 4S. I am getting duplicate appointments and I am so confused and usually god with technology :-) help someone

    great
I am using outlook, gmail contacts, face book and tango contacts to sync.
I had assumed my phone would have recognized they were the same contacts
and merged what was necessary and missing with each - like
my Motorola Bionic did, but alas it did not and required me to down load an
app that sort of, kind of worked.  This seems to be a pretty consistent
problem with the software with the phone.  Maybe the new operating system
Jellybean will solve it?  Please keep me posted

  • IOS 5 Calendar app current time bar off after time switch

Here is a issue I have recently noticed. Yesterday we had time fall back one hour. On my Macbook, Iphone 4, and Ipad2, the system time is showing correctly(the time in menu bar on the Mac, and in the top system bar on iOS). On my two Ios5 devices however, in the "Calendar" app, the little bar with the red dot (i refer to as the "current time bar") still shows one hour ahead. So for example the actual time in Los Angeles, CA right now is 3:19 PM but in the calendar app on both Ios devices it shows as 4:19 PM. Keep in mind that the system time is showing 3:19 PM on both of these devices. I logged into the http://www.icloud.com web site and it shows correctly. On my Mac book running MacOSX 10.7.2 everything shows up ok (both system time and iCals current time bar). I am connected to Wi-Fi and 3G. I do have time zone support enabled on all devices, but turning that off did not help anything and I don't see how that could be causing this. What is causing this? Is this a bug in iOS5? Please let me know if you are experiencing the same issue so we can have Apples developers fix this bug. Thanks have a nice afternoon.
    The issue:
The "Current time bar" in iOS5 Calendar is showing up one hour ahead after time switch as of yesterday (11/5/2011 Los Angeles, CA)
    What I know:
System time on Mac, Iphone and Ipad shows up as the right time
Current time bar in iCal on MacOSX 10.7.2  shows right
Current time bar in Calendar on icloud.com shows right
    Common posts:
This post seems to be experiencing the same issue.

I'm having the same issue... the time is right on my phone, however the time-bar is showing DST (one hour ahead). I've restarted the phone... checked my iCloud time zone, etc... even tried turning on/off the Time Zone support not only for the phone but also in the Calendar... nothing.
So in the end, correct time but the time-bar is incorrect. I hope this is just a bug that needs fixing by Apple...

  • Link Device Switch just doesn't work!

    Hi guys,
Was really excited to get my spanking new Z10 but its been marred with issues ever since I got it! Now the biggest problem for me is the sync. I have a 9700 on OS6 and have been trying to use the device switch to get all the data transferred onto my Z10.
I started device switch and it successfully backs up the 9700 but when I connect the Z10 and start the process there, in 1 second it shows data successfully copied and then gives me a communication error (Failed to read the device backpup types) and then no data has been copied on to my Z10.
This is extremely annoying! Can anyone please help me with this! Thanks!!

    Agreed, it doesn't work.
Have tried via a media card.  Copied the "DeviceSwitch" directory to every possible location on the media card and it still doesn't do anything.  I suspect the Z10 is looking for a different directory name than that created on the old phone (Curve 9320 running 7.1).
Have tried the PC transfer, this was worse.  The only thing that transferred was calendar items.  Shame that it stored events from a few years ago to current dates.  It's as if it didn't take the year into account and just loaded old data starting with the current date.
This is incredibly poor programming.  This is my fourth and LAST BB.  I've only had it for a day and after 4 hours of trying to do a simple copy I'm ready to throw it away!  I have no patience left for the company I have supported for the last 6 years.
UPDATE - The Z10 won't read the media card from the Curve as it has a different format.  This is why it doesn't find the DeviceSwitch directory with the data on it. Does anyone actually TEST software they write these days?
