Duplicate Calendar Entries after Setting up iCloud

I just installed iOS 5 on my iPhone, and upgraded to the latest and greatest OS X Lion on my iMac to use iCloud. Unfortunately, it appears to have created duplicate entries for all of my calendar entries. Rather than syncing my existing iCal calendars, it looks like it created all new 'iCloud' versions of those same calendars so I have double of everything. (For example, before I had 'Home' and 'Work', etc. now I have 'iCloud Home' and 'iCloud Work') This makes no sense to me...am I just supposed to delete my old calendars and just go with the iCloud ones now? Why wouldn't they automatically do that for you if that's the case? Not very intuitive. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
Additionally, from what I can tell, if I create a new entry under one of the iCloud calendars, it WILL show up on my iPhone. However, on my iPhone, I DO NOT have those same 'iCloud Home' calendars listed, just one that says 'All iCloud'. Unfortunately, that means I can't create a new calendar entry that syncs with iCloud. If I create an entry under 'Work' on my iPhone, it DOES NOT sync with iCloud and show up on iCal on my Mac. There is no way this is correct behavior, as that is one of the main benefits of syncinc calendars.
Does anyone have any solutions for these issues? Thank you.

Okay, got it sorted; hopefully this will help others out.
My situation: calendars were working fine on my Mac, iPad 2, iPhone 3GS and iCloud up until Friday evening when I activated my new 4S.  Then all heck broke loose, and my calendar events started triplicating (quadrupling, in some cases).  The calendars themselves did not, just the events.  I believe what caused it is that I restored my 4S from a backup of my 3GS, and didn't turn off iCloud on the 3GS before doing so.  So the system got confused and started replicating things like mad.  Then I remembered Time Machine!
Here's the solution:
1. Backup jacked-up calendars on your Mac (just in case, you can always go back and manually fix them...gag).
2. Turn off iCloud syncing on your devices (all of them), including your Mac; this will prompt you to delete the data on the devices, and that's okay (take a deep breath...)
3. You should now have no calendar data on any device; it should only reside out on iCloud; verify this by logging into the site and checking
4. In Finder, navigate to <you_user_dir>/Library and make sure you have a Calendars folder (hold Option and click the Go menu and you'll see it the Library folder...they hid it in Lion); don't open the folder, just make sure it's there
5. From the Library folder, enter Time Machine and select a date you know was working (in my case, I had to go back to before Wednesday to make sure iCloud was not in use on my machine at the time, you might have to do the same, depending on when you started using iCloud)
6. Click the magic Restore button in the lower right-hand corner; you'll be fast-forwarded to the same folder in the present, and asked if you want to replace or keep the duplicate items; choose Replace
7. After the copy is done, open iCal; you should see all your events restored to their normal glory
8. Log into the iCloud.com website and nuke all of your calendars; yes, you read that right, kill them all...or you'll be back at square one. Because you have to have at least one calendar, I created one called "junk" and left it in there temporarily
9. Back on your Mac desktop, go to System Preferences and turn on Calendars in the iCloud control panel; if you have iCal open still, you might have a freak-out moment where everything disappears (I did...).  Don't panic, this is normal; if you look at the website, you'll see your calendars start appearing there, and shortly the same will hold true for iCal on your Mac
10. Once you've confirmed that everything looks spiffy, delete the "junk" folder on iCloud.com
11. One device at a time (I did my 4S first, then my iPad 2), turn on iCloud for Calendar syncing; just to be careful, let each device finish updating before you turn on the next (it probably doesn't matter, but I'm paranoid at this point).
12. Voila, you should now have all calendars in sync across all your devices, your Mac, and iCloud.com
Hopefully this helps some people out; it's the only way I could get it to work and restore my calendars back to a useable state.
Take care!

  • How to eliminate duplicate calendar entries after sync with iCloud ?

I just upgraded my iPhone 4 to IOS5 and set up sync through iCloud. Now all my iCal entries appear twice on the iPhone, even though they appear only once on my Mac mini (running Lion).
How do I stop this happening? And how do I get a clean calendar on the iPhone?
    Neil

Ok, I solved my own problem. I thought I had unchecked "Sync Calendar" in iTunes on the Mac mini, but it turns out I had not. As soon as I unchecked that box and let the system delete that calendar, all the duplicate entries went away.

  • Duplicate calendar entries after switching to z10, need to clear my local calendar

    Hi,
While transferring my data from a bold 9900 to my new z10 using BB Link I ended up with duplicate calendar entries, one from my account calendar and another from my local.  Some of the entries don't show up as reoccurring so it's difficult to remove.  How do I clear all the local entries?  I tried searching and only found solutions for the previous versions of the desktop software.
    Thank you,

    Hey z10bbuser,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
You can not clear individual databases in BlackBerry 10.  You can clear the calendar individually by manual deletion or you can do a security wipe.  This is found under Settings>Security & Privacy.  Please Note: A Security wipe will erase all data and installed applications on the BlackBerry Z10.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
    Cheers.

  • Duplicate ical entries after upgrade to icloud

    Hi,
Have no idea why this has happened, but basically I have been syncing using itunes manually via a cable, got the email from Apple to upgrade, went through the process, now its all on icloud, but I have noticed I have dupliate ical entries.
what is the best way to sort this out now?

ok, I just used the app iCal Dupe Deletor and it found 500 dupes, went through and deleted them all
BUT.... when iCal updated to icloud, it just brought them all back from what I can see and they are all there again
whats the best fool-proof way of sorting this?
pleeeease there, so close but yet so far.....

  • I've lost the contacts and calendar events from my 3GS after setting up iCloud with iPad3 and PC Outlook.  Any solutions?

I've lost the contacts and calendar events (& email) from my 3GS after setting up iCloud with iPad3 and PC Outlook.  Any solutions?
I tried to re-synch it with the PC iTunes, but no luck, even when re-checking the boxes for Outlook...

I should mention that i have NOT upgraded to iOS 5 on the 3GS and don't want to.  Therefore, no iCloud on the phone.

  • Ios 5.0.1 duplicate calendar entries

I've just updated to ios 5.0.1 on my iphone 4. Now I get these strange duplicate calendar entries appearing on my iphone calendar, which aren't present at all in iCal on my mac???.  I've never had these issues before and I thought that it may have something to do with iCloud, however I'm running OS X 10.6.4 on my laptop and I don't have iCloud settings to edit (I know I require OS X Lion for this to be available) via my settings on my mac.
    Now to the I've list:
I've tried deleting the items manually on my iPhone (delete one event or all future instances), but they just don't go.
I've tried deleting my iCloud account altogether on my iPhone, however when I resync via iTunes all they same duplicate events return to my phone???
I've tried ticking the "Advanced/Replace information on this iPhone/Calendars" and then syncing again, but the same duplicate items return.
I've searched forum post after forum post and I can't find a solution to this problem.
I've removed most of the remaining hair through sheer frustration...
Basically the Calendar on my iPhone is totally useless now.
I won't be updating to OS X Lion as all of my audio software/hardware, of which I rely on on a daily basis, works perfectly with 10.6.4
Does anyone have a fix for this?

    Oops! spoke too soon!
All seemed to be working fine, but after adding a test item into my calendar on my iPhone, all the duplicate entries magically appeared again.???
So now the annoying phantom duplicate entries are on my iPhone, but strangely not on my calendar on the iCloud.com web site and NOT on my calendar on my Mac.
I don't think I can waste anymore time stuffing around with this.  Paper diary for me again I think...
I'm very disappointed as I was very much looking forward to shared calendars!
I hope Apple comes up with a fix soon.
    Here's hoping...

  • Duplicate contact entries but not on iCloud...

Hi all! First of all I want to thank all the veterans out there (a day early) for your service....
I am running Mavericks on my MacBook Pro. I have duplicate entries in my Contacts. I got rid of some I guess by choosing Look for Duplicates within the app but it looks like they are all still there! I checked my iCloud account and that is fine. So what's the tip to get rid of those pesky duplicates in Contacts on my Mac??? Thank you! Judy

    Hello Judy,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with duplicate contacts.  I recommend reviewing the following article to resolve the issue:

  • How do I get rid of duplicate calendar entries in my notifications?

I managed to get rid of all my duplicate calendar entries on my calendar.  I unchecked all but the two calendars I use.
The problem is that when I go to my notifications screen, under "Calendar", it still shows all my entries like three times.  How do I get rid of this?  It takes up all the realestate on my notifications.

Sounds like your syncing Calendars over the air with iCloud, as well as with a supported Calendar application on your computer. Doing both will duplicate your entries, so do one or the other, not both.

  • Duplicate calendar entries - but not related to any kind of sync

I went on holiday for 3 weeks and during that time my iPod touch discharged completely. When I came back and charged it up again I saw that it had reset its date back to what I presume is the factory default of 01 January 1970. I set the date and time to the current date and time - and then discovered that all my MONTHLY and YEARLY repeating calendar entries (but not the WEEKLY ones) have all been duplicated. This is not the result of any kind of sync up since (following a complete system rebuild following a virus attack) I have not yet reinstalled iTunes on my PC and I have not knowingly synced with Outlook because I almost never use it. If I delete an entry that has been duplicated then BOTH entries are deleted. Has anyone seen this behaviour and can tell me how I can remove the duplicate entries? I have looked for posts relating to duplicate calendar entries but they all deal with syncing-related problems whereas mine is not. Thanks.

I have a similar issue. I bought an ipod touch last week and today I synced my entourage contacts, and address book. The address book entries are fine, but I have duplicates on my calendar. Now, its not duplicating per day, its duplicating the previous or next day. For instance, I have a birthday listed for today, it will also show for yesterday or tomorrow. What is causing this? I've checked the calendar on entourage and ical and both show correctly. (ical copies items from entourage)

  • 8330 and duplicate calendar entries

For some reason I am getting duplicate calendar entries (of the same event) from multiple email addresses.  How to I stop this?  I'm using Google sync (working fine) but I get entries from my Hotmail, another local ISP and Juno.  And Juno doesn't offer a calendar that I know of.  8330 Curve on US Cellular.  Some times just 2 dups sometimes 3.  I've cleared the Facebook calendar app on the 8330 (that is my Juno account)  But I don't use the Hotmail calendar and the local ISP email doesn't offer a calendar function.

    Hi Ridgeroader,
Welcome to BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
It sounds like the calendar invitations are being received in different device calendars. Each email account integrated on your BlackBerry has a calendar associated with it. If your receive an invitation in one email account and accept it, it will be stored in the associated calendar on your device. This KB article and this blog post should provide more information on dealing with multiple device calendars: http://bbry.lv/cBptUW and http://bbry.lv/bozTNY

  • Duplicate iCal entries after sync

My sister just bought a Verizon iPhone, and did a sync using iTunes. Her iPhone is fine. But her iCal now has duplicate entries for every date. First off, how do i clear all those out, and second, what do you think went wrong?

How long has she had the iPhone?
Did she sync the iPhone with iTunes right away before manually entering any calendar events on her iPhone, or did she manually enter a number of calendar events on her iPhone before syncing? If the latter, are only the calendar events she manually entered on her iPhone duplicated in iCal on her Mac? If so, how many calendar events was she able to manually enter on her iPhone before syncing with iTunes and iCal since she purchased the iPhone?
If iCal is used - iCal includes calendar events and so does the iPhone before the first sync for this data, a merge prompt should be provided with the first sync for this data. The other option is replacing whatever calendar events are available on the iPhone with what is available in iCal.
First step, reset the sync history on her Mac, which is done via iSync preferences with the iSync application.
Next, remove all duplicate calendar entries in iCal on her Mac. Certainly there can't be that many calendar entries that were manually entered on her iPhone before the first sync with iCal.
When iCal is cleaned up - all duplicates removed, under the Info tab for her iPhone sync preferences with iTunes below the Advanced section at the bottom, select Calendars for replace info on this iPhone. Select Apply followed by a sync.
