Duplicate Calendars in iCal on iPad

Hi there,
I have two versions of all my calendars on my iPad. I use MobileMe, and tried unchecking Sync iCal Calendars from the info tab in iTunes, but they still duplicate. I'd like to get rid of these duplicates. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

This means you are syncing calendars over the air with your MobileMe account on your iPad and syncing calendars direct with iCal via the iTunes sync process. Doing both duplicates the calendars on your iPad.
Under the Info tab for your iPad sync preferences with iTunes, deselect Sync Calendars followed by selecting Apply.
On your iPad, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Select your MobileMe account.
Turn Calendars off for over the air syncing. A warning message will be provided indicating this will erase the calendars downloaded from and being kept synchronized with your MobileMe online calendar along with a prompt to save the calendars locally on your iPad. Decline this prompt.
This will not erase the calendars on your iPad synced direct with iCal via the iTunes sync process.
Follow this by turning Calendars back on for over the air syncing with your MobileMe account on your iPad. You will be provided a merge prompt, which you want to select.
This will get rid of the duplicates.
The same applies to contacts if you are doing the same with contacts.

  • Microsoft Exchange shared calendars through iCal on iPad or Mac

This is surely not an original question, but -
My company uses Microsoft Exchange.  I have synced it to my iPad for calendar, contacts, and email, and it works very well.
We also use shared calendars, and I utilize this feature often via Outlook on my PC.  However ...
    1.  I'd like to be able to view MS Exchange shared calendars on iCal on my iPad.  Is this possible?  Obviously, no one will grant me permission to view their contacts or emails, but calendar-only is what we share.  Is this possible?
    2.  Is it possible to view MS Exchange shared calendars through iCal on a Mac?  I have a colleague who has an iMac with iCal synced to Exchange and it works great.  However, we do not know how to view shared calendars (from MS Exchange) through iCal.  Again, we want to share calendars-only - no email or contacts.  Can anyone help with this?
    THANKS SO MUCH FOR HELP.

  • ICal on iPad: please explain how to use the duplicate calendars

I am traveling with my iPad and cannot get on my computer. I want to add calendar events that will sync to MMe. I have checked off the calendars for @me.com. Sometimes the iPad duplicate switches on. I assume that i have this so i can see if i need to what is really on the iPad ND what is really on mobile me in case i don't have wi fi access. However Apple does not explain to us why so that we could understand our own systems. We are left to guess and stab in the dark. I want to add items that will go over to mobile me and to my phone. Do i add them in to the calendar that is on the ipad and then it will automatically sync the events?
I just edited some items that had previously been synced to mobile me. Those items are showing up synced to my phone so i know they went to mobile me. However i added some new items that went into the calendar on my iPad and those are not syncing (I wonder why apple has this odd system set up?)
So is there something i don't know about entering events in my iPad? Why would there be a dublicTe calendar kept that does not sync to the rest?
Please help! I can't go to my computer to reset hints for now i just have to know how to input events correctly into iPad so they will sync to mobile me and my phone. I have previously fine through resetting hints with mobile me support so it all should be set up correctly.
    Thanks

Edited version (it won't let me edit)

Also I have the new iCal that was called beta ND it syncs through CalDav or whatever that is separate from the contacts and bookmarks.

  • Duplicates & triplicate Calendar items on my ipad after using the iCloud..

i have duplicates Calendar items on my ipad after using the iCloud.. what am i doing wrong?? and how do i fix it?

This solved my triplicate calendar issue:
    (short version)
Settings ==> iCloud. Turn off Calenders.
Delete exisiting calendar information when prompted.
Settings ==> iCloud. Turn on Calenders.
    Restart Calender App.
    (verbose version)
On your iOS devices go to Settings App ==> iCloud. Turn OFF Calendar Syncing. It will ask if you want to keep or delete previous Calendars on your phone, Choose Delete. Restart your Calendar app and see if it's squeaky clean. I had just birthdays and anniverseries. If you are still seeing items other than those (like birthdays) generated by the device then you are bringing in calendars from multiple sources. You'll need to turn off the other sources (if you have their entries duplicated already in the cloud).
Now go back to Settings ==> iCloud and turn the calender back on. Restart the Calendar app, everything should look good now.

  • Can I create a shared calendar on iCal from the New iPad?

My company just gave out iPads for use to all field employees. My coworkers and I currently have an Outlook shared calendar that we utilize for scheduling our work. We can not access the shared calendars on our iPads, therefore I would like to create a shared calendar in iCal that we can all access for sharing our schedule as we were doing on Outlook. Is this possible?
NOTE: The idea is that I would like to use the iPad as the sole resource, instead of carrying our laptops around just to access the shared outlook calendar/schedule. The laptops are outdated junk that requires roughly 20 mins of time just to power up, connect and sign in to our servers...very inefficient.
    Thank you!

Can I create a new calendar in ICal on my IPad?

Tap and hold a file. When it starts to shake, drag it on top of another file. This will create your folder. By the way, you can't create any nested folders (folders inside of folders).

  • How do you link Google calendar to iCal in Maverick?

Just downloaded Maverick (great) to my late 2008 aluminium laptop but cannot link Google Calendar with iCal.  In iCal tried deleting old account and re-entering but still iCal does not sync, although it still does on iPad and iPhone.  Any ideas?

    Hi there,
I have tested this out on my backup disk and there is a slight modification to the method. Will highlight this with quotation.
    ================================================================================ ==
It appears that once upgraded to Mavericks, the calendar folders are no longer compatible with the latest version of iCal. Hence why it crashes.
    To remediate,
    Close the iCal App
Duplicate the folder (For Backup reason)     /Users/YOURPROFILE/Library/Calendar
Delete all content with in      /Users/YOURPROFILE/Library/Calendar
    Go to:-
System Prefences | Internet Account | iCloud
    Uncheck Calendars, Recheck Calendars
    Select the iCloud profile
Press "-" to delete the whole iCloud profile.
Recreate the iCloud profile by select "+" then iCloud
Enter your iCloud Username and Password
It will asked you if you wish to merge the database. (You may have to do this more then once)
    For every other google calendar
Uncheck Calendars (if already checked), Recheck Calendars
Hopefully this will recreate all the calender folders within /Users/YOURPROFILE/Library/Calendar and start re-syncing.
Once you are satified that all your calender are syncing, delete the /Users/YOURPROFILE/Library/Calendar copy
    Good Luck.

  • How do I delete a (duplicate) calendar?

I somehow managed to completely duplicate my contacts and calendars from Microsoft Outlook. (I don't use a Mac, or MobilMe or iCal) I don't use the contacts so I deleted them all on my PC within Outlook then synced, but I can't figure out how to get rid of the duplicate calendars.
When I go into Settings - Calendars, this is what I see
    From My PC - Calendar
    Work (Exchange) - Calendar
They are both the same thing and so whenever I have a calendar reminder, I get the alert twice on my iPod.
Does anyone know how I can get rid of one of these duplicate calendars?
    Thanks-
    Jenn

I have the exact same issue. The only calendar events that are duplicated are the US Holidays that I subscribed to. This duplication exists only on my iPhone 5S and not my Mac or iPad. I've tried all the other suggestions for removing duplicate calendar events and they don't work. Any ideas?

  • Multiple duplicate calendars

Hey - can anyone help! I’m going crazy here!
I have a G5, and iPhone and an iPad and I’ve been all day trying to sort out a syncing problem. I followed all the Knowledgebase articles, and even chatted to an Apple MobileMe expert - so now I need to turn to the Apple community for help!
When MobileMe (MM from here on) syncs with iPad and iPhone I get six copies of each calendar, although iCal on my Mac only has one of each.
I’ve tried deleting all the calendars, trashing caches and pref files, deleting and reinstating MM accounts on the iPad.
Address Book however sync’s fine - all devices show the same data. So why is calendars showing six copies of the same info?
    It’s driving me nuts!
    Thanx, Andy

Didn't have the duplicate Help menu problem, but in case this helps, here's what worked for me:
1- In the MobileMe preference panel, switch off Synchronize with MobileMe (in the Sync tab) and Sign Out of MobileMe account (Account tab).
2- Restore ~/Library/Calendars folder from Time Machine to the state it was in just prior to installing Snow Leopard.
3- In iCal, delete the duplicate calendars, leaving only the 'correct' one. (Determining which one to keep can be tricky: in my case I deleted the incomplete 'duplicate' calendars, where some appointment entries were missing).
4- In the MobileMe preference panel, sign back into to MobileMe (Account tab) and switch Synchronize with MobileMe: Automatically (in the Sync tab) back on.
5- In the Sync tab of the MobileMe preference panel, click Advanced… at the bottom right. In the resulting sheet, select any existing entry of your newly upgraded Mac's name and click Stop Syncing Computer…, and confirm that you wish to Unregister. (This clears out the old baggage.)
6- Then click Reset Sync Data… bottom left of the sheet, then select Replace: Calendars. The direction of replacement is important: choose to overwrite MobileMe with your computer.
That's how it worked for me. All seems to work nicely now. Note that in the last step, it seems counter-intuitive to me to overwrite a nice, clean MobileMe calendar with the slightly dubious copy, rescued from duplicates, on my Mac. But I could not get the overwrite to work from MobileMe to my Mac. I had to sync from my Mac to MobileMe.
Hope this helps someone… I'm sure there's a cleaner, more elegant way to resolve this problem, but there you go

  • Duplicate entries in ical on iPhone

Since upgrading to iOS 5 and OS 10.7.2  I have duplicate iCal entries on my iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. I also had other iCal syncing problems but by deleting and replacing I think I've solved those.
On iCal entries that I've just now made on my iMac, they are synced correctly on my iPad and ipod Touch. However each of them are duplicated on my iPhone. I think the problem is that on my iPhone iCal app I have multiple calendars under "from my Mac" and also many of them repeated under "iCloud".
On my iPad and ipod Touch I only have the iCloud calendars.
My question is if I delete the "from my Mac" calendars from the iPhone will this eliminate the duplicates?
Will I do any harm by deleting those calendars? If I delete them can I get them back if needed?
    Thanks for any help.

I'm having the same problems, I upgraded from Entourage 2008 to Outlook 2011 on my iMac running 10.6.8, and my Outlook/iCal/iPhone/iPad calendars are all different and I have duplicates everywhere, please HELP!!!

  • Tips on how to organize multiple iCloud calendars in iCal 5.0

Found some workarounds but looking for tips from others since I have not been using Lion and the new iCal very long.
    Situation:
I use iCal for work and have my own calendars and manage my boss's multiple calendars. An upgrade to Lion has thrown a monkey wrench as we now have to use iCloud to have read/write access to the calendars. The new look of iCal is very cluttered with all of these entries and color coding is not enough to be easy on the eyes to differentiate what is what. The new simplified look hides the master list of calendars which acted as a legend. Now in order to figure out what calendar an entry belongs to, I have to click to reveal the list of calendars and make a guess (due to the # of calendars the colors are used more than once) or click on the item and then edit for the details. The list of calendars is not very helpful as everything is under iCloud, both mine and the boss's, with no indication as to which belongs to whom. The shared icon being visible is a clue but not that much help. A subgroup automatically created by AppleID or the ability to create an iCloud group would be very useful.
    Work arounds:
Leaving the inspector open helps eliminate 1 click so now I don't have to click on edit to reveal which calendar and entry belongs to.
To make the calendar list more manageable, I manually reordered the calendars and renamed each one of my boss's calendars with their name on it.
Tips for those that have to deal with supporting someone who deletes entries without telling you:
I maintain a travel calendar for the boss and put the details of their trip (such as hotel information) into the entry but as their travel decisions are erratic, they often delete these entries when they decide not to travel for work then later notify me to cancel the hotel but the information is lost since they deleted the entry. Frustrating. I could keep a copy elsewhere, such as email, text file, etc, but I prefer the organization of a calendar. I created a duplicate calendar on my end that they do not have access to where I copy and paste each entry of their calendar into mine. This way, when they delete an entry in their calendar, I still have the trip info. I'm curious for those that deal with this sort of thing, is this the best practice? For example, is there a way to auto duplicate or create multiple entries without copy and paste? (For now, iCal does not appear to let you put the same event on multiple calendars.)
Does anyone have any other tips for organizing multiple calendars, especially in this sort of situation where you are dealing with the calendars of others? I would really like the month view or week view to be more understandable. The color coding just isn't enough. Is there a way to put the title of the calendar to appear in the entry for week/month view?

I just transfered all of my data over to iCloud today.  I run a summer college program and I had all of my calendars neatly ordered on my computer under Calendar Groups - and color coded.  It was a bit frustrating to see that I would not be able to organize them in this way on iCloud.  I like your ideas - they were helpful.  I hope they update and improve on this for us!
