Duplicate contacts after upgrading?

I started from
a Mac Power Book running Snow Leopard - too old to upgrade to Mountain Lion and afirst generation iPad
Not at all sure how either of those worked wo\ith iCloud
I switched to a MacMini on Mountain Lion and also from an iPhine 4 to an iPhine 5
So I sort of stumbled into iCloud before and after my upgrade
Now I have duplicates in my Contacts on my MacMini, my iphone 5 and my iPad but not yet on my Power book
my iCloud account for Mail on the iPad is empty
My calendar on the iPad has dupplicates. One has 158 duplicates
Obviously I screwed up in my transition if it before and since
I guess I have two problems
First to stop any more havoc probably by cleaning up settings for iCloud and on each device
Second to remove duplicates especially from Contacts deleting one at a time is tough when there over 100 dups

If the contacts are correct and unduplicated on your PowerBook, export them to a vCard by opening Address Book, select All Contacts on the left sidebar, click on a single contact, the press Command-A to select all contacts (they should all be highlighted), then go to File>Export>Export vCard and save it on your desktop.
Then delete all of your contacts on icloud.com (which will delete them from your other devices too.* Go to icloud.com, open Contacts. click on All Contacts on the left, to the right click on any single contact to select it, click on the Actions (gear shaped) icon at the bottom and choose Select All, then press the Delete key on your keyboard.
Then email the vCard you created earlier from your PowerBook to yourself. Open the email on your iPhone and tap the attachment to import the contacts to your iPhone, as well as to iCloud and your other devices.
* If you want, you can make a precautionary backup of the duplicated contacts as they are now before starting. To do this, open Contacts on your Mac Mini, select all contacts, export them as a vCard and save it on your desktop.

I still encounter the same problem. I have important messages in my inbox I want to keep.
I even try to upgrade to the newest version. IOS 5.0.1. but still the same..My main problem is my contacts. I dont have "+" add contact button and inside each contact.. I dont have the "edit" button..

Missing information (addresses, etc.) in my Contacts after upgrading to Mountain Lion

I can't see detailed information (addresses, etc.) in my Contacts after upgrading to Mountain Lion. This happened when I upgraded from Leopard to Snow Leopard, but fixed itself when upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion.
I can see the information when I do a Print Preview of an envelope, so the information is in the program somewhere, but can't be seen when viewing the Contact Card.

BTW, I can see all Contact Card information on my iTouch just fine.

Problems such as yours are sometimes caused by files that should belong to you but are locked or have wrong permissions. This procedure will check for such files. It makes no changes and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem.
First, empty the Trash.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

Backup is your best option if you have one. Reverting software will not bring the contacts back.

This is known to happen if you modified any of the default reports
I've seen that happening even in my lab (and and customers) where I am sure that I did not modify them. Just delete them (they should be prefixed with "_").

ICal Duplicate Events After Upgrading to Snow Leopard

After upgrading to Snow Leopard, I noticed almost all my Events were duplicated. The Duplicates were collected from all calendars and are in one of the Calendars (Paul Events). Strangely a new Calendar (Paul Events 2) was created, but deleting this Calendar did not help. Additionally a previously deleted Calendar from months ago was re installed.
I have a MobileMe account that syncs automatically.
Did this happen to anyone else. I am still developing a solution to get rid of the duplicate events, but don't have one yet.

After the Snow Leopard upgrade, performed 10/19/09, and the immediate update to OSX 10.6.1, I wanted to sync my iPod Touch 2G.
I was notified I had 67 iCal events to add, and 18 more modified events (85 total -- (a lot of birthdays). All were duplicates. I didn't sync. Is there any way to delete them?
Also, over the past 18 months of MBP ownership, my alarms for each event have increased to about 8 (they sound once, but I have to clear each of them on my computer screen), And my Contact notes, have doubled+ (as if Copy + Paste were used), with many spaces, and some of the information lost.
I was hoping for a Contacts & Calendar that would match the stability of my retired Windows Mobile Dell Axim X50v, before it took a virus, spread it to my Gateway desktop, completely destroying it (the desktop is NO MORE (couldn't be fixed) and I've retired the Axim).
What is the solution?

AdressBook doesn't dipslay contacts after upgrading to Leopard

hi, after upgrading yesterday to 10.5.2 (from 10.4.9 i have been using) i found that the address book app doesn't display any of my contacts diplaying a window completely blank... the strange thing is that my contacts appear to be in place in the ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/ folder, and when typing an e-mail address on the Mail app i get results...
but still nothing on AddressBook. What can I do?

Problem with contacts after upgrading to iOS 7 (iphone 5)

After upgrading to iOS 7 (iphone 5), the contacts (loaded from icloud) in greek language aren't sorted!!! They are under the # symbol!! Anyone has a solution. I didnt have this problem with previous iOS versions!!!!

My phone was fine after I connected to iTunes. It appeared in recovery mode and then it downloaded the update, installed and all was fine.

Car bluetooth not displaying contacts after upgrading to iOS4??

After upgrading my iphone 3GS to OS4.0, my 2010 Grand Cherokee will no longer display names when using the built in UConnect hands free bluetooth system. It worked fine before the upgrade. Now when I get a call, it will only show "incoming call" or a long string of numbers and letters. This is so frustrating! Fix this apple or let us downgrade until this can be fixed.

It may not be supported as of yet. The iOS4 just came out and not many searches are related to updating the UConnect standard. They are mostly related to the "MyGIG" UConnect version of equipment installed which are on the more expensive models (SRT8 for example).
You can contact Chrysler for more support information including the firmware update to allow iOS4 but they may not be able to answer your question for factory installation reasons.

I recently, synchronized my contacts with Ovi sync, which was aborted in the middle due to a technical Connectivity Problem. After that I again synched after about an hour.This time the Sync was successful. But to my annoyance I found that more than 1500 records got duplicated in my mobile and now I have this unpleasant task of removing each of these duplicate contacts manually or merge them. Is there a way to do a mass merge of duplicate contacts at one go...
But I must say Nokia's OVi is a big Pain to use as there is always some technical or software issue or the other.
Bottom Line - Nokia's smart phones are not smart enough and their support services (online and Nokia care centers ) are nothing but a place where you could only do your software re-installation. Period. These guys do not know to handle specific software/hardware issues. All they know is re-install the software or re-start the phone. I think I was smarter when I had an ordinary Nokia N70....the biggest mistake I did was to select a nokia Smart Phone.

Try to use http://www.bloove.com to find and mass remove duplicate contacts via convinent web interface.

Can't add/edit contact after upgrade to IOS5 - HELP!

After upgrading to ios 5, I can't add or edit the contact. The buttons are gone! How to get them back? I tried numerous restart also no use.

I was having issues with Calendar after updating to iOS 5.0.1 also. I finally was able to get Calendar functioning again by turning it OFF within Settings > iCloud. This action keeps all my calendars on my iPod. I also reverted to backing up my iPod Touch to my computer within iTunes, then restoring, and re-syncing after I made the changes. Now, I am able to add, edit, and delete events in my calendar just as I was able to do before updating to iOS 5.0.1. Restoring my iPod Touch only worked temporarily for me (before I change the settings), as the problem returned the very next time I attempted to add an event. This fix probably will not allow syncing with other Apple devices through iCloud, but it is less drastic than deleting my iCloud account.
