Duplicate contacts created after sync

I support a customer with a bb:
He indicates that he sync's his BB with Desktop Manager and today after doing so he see's two duplicate contact lists: default and "desktop". They both contain identical contact information. He wants to get rid of one of them. Which one can he remove and how?

additional note. Customer is now finding that the sync is now trying to pick up everything that has ever been on the calendar as a "all day event" (as opposed to haveing a specific time entered) and add it to the current day.

and i guess i should mention i bought it at best buy and they ported my phone #'s from my google phone and when i got home i sync'ed it with itunes and it doubled my contacts.

Duplicate tasks created after reboot

Hi,
I am using a Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard Edition.
This server needs a reboot every month. But after a reboot, there is a particular task which fails to start as duplicate tasks are created. This task is scheduled to run hourly. But as soon as i reboot the server it fails. This task runs a Download.bat file
and a file is created every hour.
I have to delete these duplicate tasks and then the task runs fine.
Can anyone help me with this. I don't want duplicate tasks to be created after the reboot.

It seems is the task scheduler is triggering the task but the second instance is not able to execute.
The task scheduler is seeing another instance still running and hence unable to trigger the second instance.
May the task needs to run in a loop, I suggest you try
the below options:
“Run a new instance in parallel”
"Stop the existing instance”

I can't find the 'contacts' icon after syncing

Iphone 4s does not show an icon/app for Contacts. When syncing I ticked the box for contacts.

Not the iTunes on your phone. I meant the iTunes on your computer. I'm sure you'll find it there.....if not, do a reset of your phone (you will not lose anything).....just press the SLEEP button and the HOME button at the same time ...CONTINUE TO HOLD UNTIL YOU SEE THE APPLE LOGO....then release the buttons....and your phone will re-boot.

Ghost contact group after syncing with Exchange?

There seems to be bugs in syncing iPhone with Exchange. After I connected to an Exchange 2007 account, I have the following groups on the iPhone:
- All contacts
- (EmployessList)
- Contacts
- WORK
- PERSONAL
- TEMP
I do have WORK, PERSONAL, and TEMP folders under my Outlook contacts, so those three groups are not stranger to me. But I don't understand why other two gets there.
And I understand the "Contacts" groups are for those in the root of Outlook Contacts folder, which haven't been sorted into any sub folder.
But the (EmployeeList) group totally comes out from nowhere, I don't have that folder in my Exchange mailbox. When choosing it to view on the iPhone, it is empty. I created a fake name under this group and it never get sync'ed to Exchange.
Where exactly does it come from, and how could I get rid of it?

This issue was resolved when I changed something for another error. I guess the email address has to match "case sensitively" with what you have in Exchange account. As soon as that was corrected, the (EmployeeList) group disappeared after a successful sync.

Duplicate Entries found after Sync to iPod Touch

Hi There.
I am using OSX 10.5.1 and the iPod Touch 1.1.2(3B48b).
If I sync my calender to the iPod, on the iPod I get multiple entries for every event. I've done a factory restore on the iPod and after the first sync - all the contacts are there. In fact if I turn off syncing - they remain on the iPod so I have to do a factory restore again to remove them.
I tried posting this on the iPod forum but with no luck, so I thought I'd come here.
Any suggestions?

If you have the latest version of iTunes the Check for Update in the Summary pane in iTunes under your iPod should say 4.2.1 is available if you have a 2G iPod. However, from you having only iOS 2.2.1, you probably have a 1G iPod. You can identify your iPod here:

Contact corrupted after sync

When I sync my computer Outlook contacts with my Q10 using BlackBerry Link (one way to phone only via a USB cable), not only are all changes to contacts not being updated on the phone, but several of the contacts have been corrupted - wrong company names, phone numbers, and addresses, and even wrong names!
Link says that the sync was successful. I am running Outlook 2010 and the latest Link software update 10.2.1.2976.
The only way I've been able to fix this is to:
1. Delete all contacts on the Q10 phone one-by-one(!) I have almost 3,000. (Deja Hub doesn't work.)
2. Sync my old BlackBerry Bold 9930 with my Outlook contacts via BlackBerry Desktop.
3. Connect my Bold with BlackBerry Link, transfer the Bold's contacts to Link.
4. Re-sync the Q10 on Link, using the Bold's contacts as the base.
This is ridiculous! When is BlackBerry going to fix Link??

Well no replys in a week, I guess the users here are not sure what to tell you, I am not sure also, I do not have Outlook but maybe we can find a work around.
Have you tried another computer if possible ? Did you try removing BB Desktop Software ? While you can have both BB DS and Link sometimes there is issues related to that. Some users found success removing BB DS then reinstalling after the reinstallation of Link.
What is your computer OS ?

IPhone 4S contacts troubles after sync hotmail

Hi,
After synchronizing my new iPhone 4S with my hotmail account, I have had nothing but trouble with both the contact list (address book) on my iPhone and with my hotmail contacts (in my hotmail account). Contacts keep randomly disappearing (entirely or partly - only telephone number or email) from my contact list in my iPhone and hotmail has frequently been asking me (when using it on my iMac) to re-enter information on email addresses that have been in my contact list in hotmail for a long time and that have magically disappeared now. This is highly frustrating, especially as this happens whenever, and is definitely not linked to me rebooting my phone or synchronising it with my Mac (I've checked repeatedly). Does anybody know how to stop this from happening? Thank you very much in advance!

I am using outlook, gmail contacts, face book and tango contacts to sync.
I had assumed my phone would have recognized they were the same contacts
and merged what was necessary and missing with each - like
my Motorola Bionic did, but alas it did not and required me to down load an
app that sort of, kind of worked. This seems to be a pretty consistent
problem with the software with the phone. Maybe the new operating system
Jellybean will solve it? Please keep me posted

Duplicate files created after library consolidate library

I have been trying to clean up everything. I have several iTunes libraries. The one I have selected in preferences is on an external HD, it was up and running. I went to library>consolidate library. When I went to look at the actual files in my selected ext. HD iTunes folder, nearly EVER song (several 1000's) had a duplicate, tune.mp3 and now tune 1.mp3. ***??? Where did they come from? Did iTunes gather all of the files up from other itunes folders & copy them???
How do I get rid of the duplicates?

Then you may need to monitor the behavior to see if you can find out the cause.
First you can enable Audit on that folder to get the account who create the /1 file. You need to set Audit in 2 settings:
1. Configure "audit object access" in AD Group Policy or on the server's local GPO. This setting is located under Computer Configuration-->Windows Settings-->Security Settings-->Local Policies-->Audit Policies. Enable success/failure auditing
for "Audit object access."
2. Configure an audit entry on the specific folder(s) that you wish to audit. Right-click on the folder-->Properties-->Advanced. From the Auditing tab, click Add, then enter the users/groups whom you wish to audit and what actions you wish to audit
- auditing Full Control will create an audit entry every time anyone opens/changes/closes/deletes a file, or you can just audit for Delete operations.
Also you can try Process Monitor to see if you can capture the exact process when the file is created. However as the issue occurs randomly it may take your time to get an accurate trace.

Duplicate iCal entries after sync

My sister just bought a Verizon iPhone, and did a sync using iTunes. Her iPhone is fine. But her iCal now has duplicate entries for every date. First off, how do i clear all those out, and second, what do you think went wrong?

How long has she had the iPhone?
Did she sync the iPhone with iTunes right away before manually entering any calendar events on her iPhone, or did she manually enter a number of calendar events on her iPhone before syncing? If the latter, are only the calendar events she manually entered on her iPhone duplicated in iCal on her Mac? If so, how many calendar events was she able to manually enter on her iPhone before syncing with iTunes and iCal since she purchased the iPhone?
If iCal is used - iCal includes calendar events and so does the iPhone before the first sync for this data, a merge prompt should be provided with the first sync for this data. The other option is replacing whatever calendar events are available on the iPhone with what is available in iCal.
First step, reset the sync history on her Mac, which is done via iSync preferences with the iSync application.
Next, remove all duplicate calendar entries in iCal on her Mac. Certainly there can't be that many calendar entries that were manually entered on her iPhone before the first sync with iCal.
When iCal is cleaned up - all duplicates removed, under the Info tab for her iPhone sync preferences with iTunes below the Advanced section at the bottom, select Calendars for replace info on this iPhone. Select Apply followed by a sync.

TS4036 all contacts lost after sync with icloud

I activated the icloud using my iphone 4s. Suddenly all of my 1000s of contacts were gone. I hope they would still be there on my desktop (till recent sync). There were probably no contacts in my icloud and it wiped those on my cell. This should have been merge and icloud should have updated. Now should I turn off icloud and just sync my iphone.

Contact applecare. they have procedures for this.

All contacts lost after Syncing with Outlook (Windows)

Hi folks,
i had sorted out all of my wifes contacts on her iPhone. You know, all had proper phone numbers, street adresses, e-mail adresses and so on.
Than i wanted to sync them to my Outlook, but i didn't want some old Outlook contacts to get on the phone, so i removed all Outlook contacts from the contacts folder (made a backup, clever me).
Then i set the iPhone to sync contacts with outlook. iTunes asked if it's allright if more than 5% of my PC contacts are beeing changed, i clicked "Yes", figured the contacts on the phone are whats interesting to me, nevermind the contacts on the pc.
So here's what itunes did:
It copied two new contacts from the iphone which previously haven't been on the pc, to the pc and deleted all the rest from the iphone (except the two new).
Since the iPhone was my only source of the new and improved contacts, all my work that i have put in there (better part of three hours) is gone.
I am not sure if i should shout, scream or just enter it all again with dignity...
Is there any way to restore the contacts? Or to prevent something like this from happening again?

Yep me too. Installed 10.2 onto my Windows 7 PC. Had no issues sycning with Windows Contacts previously, now I can't get them onto my iPhone 4 at all. Tried all the suggestion from Apple Support, still nothing.
Very unimpressed.

How to eliminate duplicate calendar entries after sync with iCloud ?

I just upgraded my iPhone 4 to IOS5 and set up sync through iCloud. Now all my iCal entries appear twice on the iPhone, even though they appear only once on my Mac mini (running Lion).
How do I stop this happening? And how do I get a clean calendar on the iPhone?

Ok, I solved my own problem. I thought I had unchecked "Sync Calendar" in iTunes on the Mac mini, but it turns out I had not. As soon as I unchecked that box and let the system delete that calendar, all the duplicate entries went away.

It also apparently changed all the contacts on my computer. Now I have a only a portion of my contacts both on my PC and my iPod 4g with nothing to restore from. Thanks Apple! Hope you update your crap OS sometime soon. Maybe then my Messenger app will start working again. Maybe then I can use the app store again. Maybe then I can use a working map again. Maybe then I will start using my apple devices again.
