Duplicate Contacts On Mac After 10.9.5 Update

I haven't been using iCloud except for Find My Mac. After the update an iCloud configuration box appeared and I only left Contacts checked.
Contacts listed iCloud and On My Mac groups. After I unchecked Contracts in System Preferences/iCloud the dupes remain, only now they are no longer listed under iCloud and On My Mac.
Some groups have contacts that I deleted in the past or are missing recently added contacts. I suppose that the iCloud groups are old data...
Is my only option to manually delete each group from Address Book?

Up to this point I have not used iCloud because of the various problems I have read about... But with recent changes in the OS and iOS I need to use iCloud to regain some functionality that I recently lost when I upgraded to OS 10.9. I have purchased the ebook "Take Control of iCloud" and you can be sure that I will read it cover-to-cover.
At any rate, merging the dupes sorta cleaned up things but I had to manually delete some contacts as well as the duplicate groups. Fortunately, my Contacts aren't that numerous...!

Check icloud.com to be sure you contact list is correct there. If it is, just go to Settings>iCloud on your device and turn Contacts to On to sync the contacts to your device. If contacts are already set to On and you still see duplicates, you may be viewing a duplicate contact group in addition to the iCloud contacts. Open Contacts, tap Groups, then tap any groups other than iCloud to uncheck them, then tap Done. See if the duplicates are still there.

TS4147 Duplicate contacts on iPad after updating Outlook 2007

After updating contacts in Outlook 2007 and syncing my iPad via iCloud, I have duplicates of the updated contacts (the original one & the updated one) on my iPad. I checked iCloud contacts and no duplicates exist there and the duplicates do not exist in Outlook 2007. When I delete the original contact from iPad, both (the original and updated) contacts are gone from the iPad and the contact is completely removed from iCloud and Outlook 2007. I am not using Exchange.

I have the same problem here. I didn't change my setup.

I deleted contacts from the iPad because I thought the sync process created the duplicate while resolving conflicts. But that was not the case. I had duplicate contacts on the iPad that i haven't touched a while ago.
I lost contacts. Is there a way to get a backup for some/all of my contacts from apple?

Duplicate contacts: many threads about this issue, but none of them resolve my problem. I do not use MobileMe, and I do not sync to Google or Yahoo contacts. The only source of contacts is my iMac AddressBook. Why are there duplicates on my phone after syncing in iTunes? Is there a fix?

Duplicate contacts on Mac and BB pearl 8220

Why does Desktop software create duplicate address on my Address Book and on my BB 8220? I'm using MacBook Pro OS X 10.7.4 and BB Desktop 2.3.1 build 5. I have MSFT Office 2011 also. Outlook also has duplicate contacts. Does BB Desktop synchronize contacts to MSFT Outlook or Mac Address Book or both? It may be getting confused between both programs.

Icloud contacts won't sync on mac after 10.8.2 update

I have a Mac Mini 2011. I just downloaded 10.8.2 last night. This morning, I am trying to sync icloud contacts and they won't sync. I select the "contacts" checkbox in the icloud settings. Exit out. Go into contacts, and I only have the group "on my mac". When I go back into icloud to see if Contacts is checked, right as I open icloud, I see the Contacts checkmark disappear.
Any ideas how to fix?

PFDuke it looks like you maybe guessing that you have Exit Code 15 based off the fact that the installer did not launch. I would recommend reviewing your installation logs to determine the exact error. IMessages messages disappearing on Mac after 10.6.3 update

After the 10.6.3 update, my iMessage messages on my Mac disappear right after I send them even though they're being sent properly and I can read them on my iPhone.
I can still see the incoming messages but once I restart/close iMessage they're all gone.
I've tried the following:
Changed Start new conversations from my Apple ID on iOS/Mac
Mobile number and Apple ID are set to receive messages on iOS/Mac
Signed out from Mac, restarted, signed back in.
Nothing seems to fix it.
Any clues?

Lost all photos, contacts, calendar, etc. after ios 6.1 update on iphone 3. Help! How do I get my stuff back?

I was updating in order to get iCloud and Bump so I could transfer my data to my new iphone 5. My old phone was acting like it was a new phone and wanting me to set it up. I had to update itunes on my pc also. My data is not there either. I pulled up icloud, not there! I had a lot of pictures, notes, and contacts that I need. Can I restore them???

Did you fail to sync contacts/calendars with your computer regularly?
Did you fail ot import your pics?
If so, then they are very likely gone. You can try restoring from backup.

How do you fix the synchronization issue with the latest update? My phone does not sync with itunes anymore.

Currently, this has created a mess of duplicate contacts. Please advise me on the steps necessary for removing these duplicates and establishing a syncing solution that doesn't regenerate the duplicates. There are several applications available that remove duplicates, but I am not sure which ones work or don't work. I want information on this, but most importantly I want to understand how to fix this problem permanently. Also, I read somewhere that Mac's new operating system, Lion, can help deal with duplicates. I don't have Lion, but I would be willing to get it, if this would fix the problem.

Had the same problem with 4 devices (two computers, an iPhone and an iPod). The solution is simple: open the Address Book application in your mac, ask it to locate duplicate entries (under one of the top menu items, "edit" I think), and then ask it to consolidate them: it took me all of three seconds after I figured it out: worked like a charm! PS: if you have more than one mac with unconected Address Books, repeating the operation in the second one may be a good idea.

Duplicate contacts created after sync

I support a customer with a bb:
He indicates that he sync's his BB with Desktop Manager and today after doing so he see's two duplicate contact lists: default and "desktop". They both contain identical contact information. He wants to get rid of one of them. Which one can he remove and how?

additional note. Customer is now finding that the sync is now trying to pick up everything that has ever been on the calendar as a "all day event" (as opposed to haveing a specific time entered) and add it to the current day.

I recently, synchronized my contacts with Ovi sync, which was aborted in the middle due to a technical Connectivity Problem. After that I again synched after about an hour.This time the Sync was successful. But to my annoyance I found that more than 1500 records got duplicated in my mobile and now I have this unpleasant task of removing each of these duplicate contacts manually or merge them. But I must say Nokia's OVi is a big Pain to use as there is always some technical or software issue or the other.
Bottom Line - Nokia's smart phones are not smart enough and their support services (online and Nokia care centers ) are nothing but a place where you could only do your software re-installation. Period. These guys do not know to handle specific software/hardware issues. All they know is re-install the software or re-start the phone. I think I was smarter when I had an ordinary Nokia N70....the biggest mistake I did was to select a nokia Smart Phone.

I have exactly the same problem on my ipad. It is happening on only some contacts but, as with you, when I delete one of the contacts on the ipad, the second ipad contact and the contact on the imac are also deleted. This is even the case when I have differentiated the two contacts on the ipad and can see the one I have deleted on the ipad is not the same one as is then deleted on the imac.
