Duplicate contacts on Mac and BB pearl 8220

Why does Desktop software create duplicate address on my Address Book and on my BB 8220? I'm using MacBook Pro OS X 10.7.4 and BB Desktop 2.3.1 build 5. I have MSFT Office 2011 also. Outlook also has duplicate contacts. Does BB Desktop synchronize contacts to MSFT Outlook or Mac Address Book or both? It may be getting confused between both programs.

Up to this point I have not used iCloud because of the various problems I have read about... But with recent changes in the OS and iOS I need to use iCloud to regain some functionality that I recently lost when I upgraded to OS 10.9. I have purchased the ebook "Take Control of iCloud" and you can be sure that I will read it cover-to-cover.
At any rate, merging the dupes sorta cleaned up things but I had to manually delete some contacts as well as the duplicate groups. Fortunately, my Contacts aren't that numerous...!

Check icloud.com to be sure you contact list is correct there. If it is, just go to Settings>iCloud on your device and turn Contacts to On to sync the contacts to your device. If contacts are already set to On and you still see duplicates, you may be viewing a duplicate contact group in addition to the iCloud contacts. Open Contacts, tap Groups, then tap any groups other than iCloud to uncheck them, then tap Done. See if the duplicates are still there.

Duplicate Contacts On Mac After 10.9.5 Update

I haven't been using iCloud except for Find My Mac. After the update an iCloud configuration box appeared and I only left Contacts checked.
Contacts listed iCloud and On My Mac groups. After I unchecked Contracts in System Preferences/iCloud the dupes remain, only now they are no longer listed under iCloud and On My Mac.
Some groups have contacts that I deleted in the past or are missing recently added contacts. I suppose that the iCloud groups are old data...
Is my only option to manually delete each group from Address Book?

You can delete the duplicates on icloud.com, or you can try using one of the apps that say they can identify and merge duplicate contacts. (If you have a Mac, you can do this by opening your contacts and going to Card>Look for Duplicates.)

Happy holidays!
I have an iPhone 4, latest software, and a MBP running 10.7.2. I'm trying to do with iCloud what I successfully and easily did with MobileMe, which is sync contacts from the MBP and iPhone manually through iTunes, in a 2-way sync. After the sync, I'm trying to get the contacts to then sync from my Address Book on my Mac to iCloud via a manual sync.
The 2-way sync goes fine as long as iCloud has contacts unchecked under Accounts in System Preferences. However, when I turn it back on, the option of syncing my info in iTunes is automatically turned off and I have to go through the whole rigamorole again and again.
Is this possible? Is it possible to sync to the On My Mac group and then have it updated to iCloud without having iTunes shut it off?
I know I can manually update everything via Vcard exports and lots of management but I'm hoping to avoid that.
Who would have ever thought we'd miss the good ole' days of MobileMe?

Finally, iCloud updated and I have contacts everywhere. My iPhone 3GS still had the old mobileme login/password combo. It took three tries, but iPhone relented and accepted the new login info. Now I have contacts and calendar on iCloud, mac and iPhone.

What determines the order in which phone numbers are displayed in address book/contacts on Mac and iPad/iPhone?

I may have "Work, Home, Skype, Work Fax" (for example) order in Adress Book on my Mac, but there is no gurantee, apparently, that this order will be preserved across entries on my iPad and iPhone. In some entries I might get "Home, Work, Skype, Work Fax" while others might have "Work, Skype, Home, Work Fax". Even with just Work and Home, the ordering is not consistent. Can I force a specific order?

Having the same problem. Have iPad and iPhone, both running ios5, both sync to the cloud, and data entered on one soon shows up like magic on the other. But Lion MacBook Pro refuses to join in the dance. Contacts and calendar entries on the mbp don't show up in either the ipad or iphone. I have the same account login info setup on all three devices, and as much as I can tell, preferences set up correctly. Oddly enough, when I am in the mbp cloud preference pane, and click on the ? for help, it tells me it can't give me help because it is not connected to the internet. Well, it clearly IS connected to the internet. Don't know if that is related to the non-syncing or not, but it is a little strange. A little bit of operating manual for cloud would be helpful.

Duplicate Contacts at 8000 and growing

After I installed Snow Leopard last week, my MobileMe isynch has gone nuts. I have 100's of the same contacts and my contact count has gone from several hundred to over 8000. This has propagated from MobileMe to my Contacts, iPhone, Entourage, Gmail. The Mac Mini is overwhelmed with continued synching and Time Machine runs.
Help!!!

I wasn't able to solve the problem but I did download a program that extracted information from the iphone backups I have so I was able to get all my contacts transferred into a fromat usable by icloud and windows contacts

ICloud not syncing contacts between mac and iOS 8 iphone

Contacts not syncing between imac under Mavericks and iPhone 5 under IOS 8. When trying to delete the iCloud account from the phone I get a verification error. Yet when i use a browser I can successfully verify that the appleid and password are correct. Any ideas on how to fix this short of totally wiping the iPhone and starting over?

Then I think your best option is to contact Apple ID Support, upon speaking to an operator you should explain that your problem is related to your Apple ID, this way you will not be charged for assistance, even if you don’t have an AppleCare plan.

ICloud won´t sync all contacts with Mac

Hardware and software involved:
Macbook Pro (bit older model) with fully updated Lion
iPhone 4 with fully updated newest iOS
Situation:
There are all contacts in iCloud. iPhone synces without issue and has all contacts in adress book. On Mac many contacts are missing.
Tested solutions on Mac:
1) Turned iCloud account off and on - no result, no change, iCloud still synces only some contacts
2) Turned iCloud adress book syncing on (while deleting all contacts on Mac) - no result, no change, iCloud still synces only some contacts
3) Deleting user/Library/applicationsupport/adress book - adress book synced more contacts (and different ones) then before, but still not all... Maybe around 1/2 contacts from iCloud.
Looking for help, I´m out of ideas. This is not some trivial error like looking in wrong tab at Adress Book (for example looking to On My Mac).

If your only issue is with duplicates I would go to your address book and click on the "red marker" up on the window. That should get you into main directory. There you should see at least two main lists:
On My Mac
iCloud
If you click on iCloud, there should be all entries with no duplicates - check if all your contacts are there. Then go to On My Mac and delete all contacts there. Problem solved (and if you have iPhone don't sync contacts over cable if you have iCloud sync active, that's where my duplicates came from).
My issue was more complicated. It started with duplicates which I have deleted as described above. Then I noticed I have all contacts on my iPhone and I can see all contacts on iCloud web page but in Mac there was only about half of them.
So after trying stuff for some time I have solved it by
1) deleting all contacts from Mac and turning iCloud off on Mac
2) copying all contacts from iPhone to Mac over cable to On My Mac directory
3) deleting all contacts from iPhone and iCloud manually, turning iCloud on iPhone off
4) copying all contacts from Mac back to iPhone
5) deleting all contacts from Mac (On My Mac)
6) turning iCloud on again and uploading contacts from iPhone to iCloud
7) turning iCloud on again on Mac and leting Mac sync
Complicated stuff, it's few days so I hope I have not forgotten something.

Have duplicate contacts on iPhone and iPad...sometimes multiple duplicates of same contacts.
Contact in iCloud Sync is turned off.
Contacts managed through Exchange.
Have deleted and re-added Exchange account multiple times. Fixes the problem temporarily.

Deleting duplicate contacts in iCloud

Is there a way to delete a duplicate contact in iCloud and not delete the other contact? I duplicated contacts in iCloud, not my PC. They are duplicated on my iPhone, but not the PC. When I delete one, the other is deleted and everything in the cloud and the original on my PC is deleted.

I had exactly the same problem .... apple care too wasnt much of a help. However i solved it and also informed them about it.
Please follow exactly and let me know if it helps.
First open icloud.com and sign it with your Apple id and password - you should see the contacts folder.
In the bottom left you should the gear wheel, click on it.
Click on one of the contact till its highlighted blue, then click cmd and A together - this will highlight all the contacts. Next use delete to delete all your contacts in the icloud (use the delete from the wheel gear)
You should see you icloud empty, now click on the gear wheel again and then click on import vcards, [to do this
make a folder on the desktop, highlight one contact in your contact list and them again press cmd and A - together to hightlight the whole list of contact. Copy to the folder on the desktop] Now the vcards can be imported to the icloud.
You have a fresh set of contacts on you icloud, which should be sent to all your devices related to your icloud account and password.
This solved my problem, hope it solves your too.
