Duplicate deleted items one read one unread in Outlook 2010, 2013 using Exchange 2010

We have a user who has these devices connected to our MX server;
iPhone
iPad
Desktop Win 7 Pro, Outlook 2010
Laptop Win7 Pro, Outlook 2013
He will open an e-mail look at it, then delete. It then goes into the deleted items folder and duplicates as one read and one unread. We have not been able to figure out why this is happening. We have tried disconnecting all devices and reconnecting them, no
joy. Tried recreating the .ost, no joy. Tried recreating user profile, no joy.
At one point we disconnected his laptop because he was getting a new one and it stopped doing it for the most part, still happened but not very often. Then we brought the new laptop online and it returned with a vengence. So we disconnected all devices and
reconnected all devices except his desktop. He ran the weekend with no duplicates, Monday when we reconnected the desktop it came back strong.
It seems to be tied to the cached mode and Offline use. I did a complete uninstall/re-install and turned off cached mode for the re-up and had zero duplicates. A few days later
I renamed the .ost and started Outlook and it immediately started popping dups on the other machine. I cancelled the build went and turned off the offline files option in outlook and restarted. No dups. I don't want to have this user operating without cached
mode due to it being slower and having to wait if he loses the network briefly. Any ideas?

However now it seems he has started getting the duplicates again even though he is Not running in cached mode and is not downloading shared
folders.

  • Core roles installed on one virtual server for roughly 200-300 mailboxes using Exchange 2010?

For a customer who is looking at keeping costs down, they are wondering whether setting up a virtualized Exchange 2010 server with all the core roles installed would be possible.  So the mailbox, CAS and hub all on one virtual slice.
The customer has around 200-300 mailboxes.
I know that its hard to give a guess for sizing, but I was wondering if a 4 core, 16 GB RAM build on Server 2012 would be sufficient, with the storage obvioulsy being SAN.  I know this is dependant upon mailbox size and usage, but I don't have those
numbers unfortunately.  Would the 4/16 build be sufficient?  Too much?
Any further information around this would be great.  Thanks.

Has anybody experienced missing sent emails after updating their iPhone to IOS 5.0?  Mail composed on phone appears to send but is never delivered nor does it show in sent items. Using Exchange 2010. Any thoughts??

    @Satterp
Not sure if you were responding to me or OP - my iPhone is on 5.1.  The OP at the time of writing was on 5.0.1.
Also, the OP and I had setup our Hotmail as an Exchange server (similar to IMAP), not POP3.

  • Outlook 2010 using Exchange 2010 - cannot send this item after updating draft email

I have a client who has the following setup.
    SBS 2011 server (Exchange 2010) and a Windows 2008 R2 Terminal Server (with Office 2010 SP1 installed).
This particular user has a Windows XP PC with Office 2010 SP1 installed (joined to SBS 2011 domain).
This user creates a email at their office on their PC and saves it in draft to continue working on it when they get home.
At home they RDP into the terminal server and load outlook and start updating their saved (Draft) email.  They then try to send it and the following error pops up.  "Cannot send this item".
If they try to save the changes they have made it pops up with "The operation failed".
I have tried various settings all with the same results.
Office 2010, Office 2010 SP1, Online mode and Cache mode (on the Windows XP PC).
    Any ideas?

    Hi Rajkumar,
OK. After further testing I have narrowed it down to the email signature?
If I save a draft email in Outlook on the Fat client (Windows XP + Office 2010), then go straight into Drafts folder and open the email and add one line of text and try to send or save again it fails.
If I don't have a signature, it works fine.
I currently trying to determine what part of the signature it doesn't like (it is quite a large signature, multiple images and a disclaimer etc).  I'm having mixed results - I can remove the signature totally from the draft email and then it will save
    or send fine.
Strange that it can save the email to Draft in the 1st place but doesn't like updating it a 2nd time???
I have also created a new outlook profile (online mode) with the same results.

  • Outlook 2010 Exchange 2010 Read Receipt Request for all emails cannot be switched OFF.

I have a strange situation with an Outlook 2010 client using Exchange 2010. The user has Outlook configured so that Under Options/Mail/Tracking - that "Read receipt confirming the recipient has viewed the message" is turned off. Yet everytime she
sends a message, the option to request pops up on the recipient's outlook.
I have tried to toggle the option on and off to no avail. I can switch the Delivery Receipt request on and off and it is no issue.
Can anyone tell me what attribute in ADSIEdit or Exchange is that seems to be stuck ON?

    Hi,
I believe you would like to block this only for the user and not for your ORG... ??
Although, you can block this for your entire ORG.
what happens is that the Read receipt contains a "Disposition-Notification-To"
If we get rid of this header we can restrict the receiver to get that prompt.
we can create a Transport rule either for the entire org or for that specific user by making an adjustment in the "exception tab"
for more info refer this blog.

  • How do I delete items from my iTunes?

Just started downloading music to my Mac for the first time.  I have some old voice memos in iTunes.  How I do I delete them?  Thanks much!

Delete an item from your library
Click the item to select it, and press the Delete key.
    Click Delete Item.
    Do one of the following:
Remove the item only from your iTunes library: Click Keep File.
Delete the item from your computer: Click Move to Trash. The item is removed the next time you empty the Trash.

  • Allow users to delete Items/documents that thhey have posted

    Using SharePoint 2013.
We would like users to be able to delete items and documents that they have posted, but not anything created by another user. It would appear that delete is not so fine grained. For a list, we can use "create items and edit items that were created by
the user" to allow them to edit, but have found nothing regarding deletion...though it may be covered by edit.
Libraries do not seem to have this option, and I have not found a good setting in PowerShell, at the library (list), or Items level.
Any thoughts would be most appreciated.

    oldamigauser
Unfortunately, setting Item-Level Permissions is no longer available for document libraries in 2013, either through advanced settings or via PowerShell. It is still available for lists in 2013 - some list-types that is (it's not available for the Issue Tracking
    list type, for example).
As far as implementing finer configuration of the delete permission, there is no OOTB way to differentiate delete permission by whether the person attempting to delete an object was the creator of that object.  It is possible to create a permission
level that enables users to read and edit list and document items but not delete them.  To do this, you will need to create a custom permission level - probably using the existing Contribute permission level as a template.
Something approaching your needs could be accomplished by: 1) creating a custom permissions level that includes all of your users and that enables them to do everything the Contribute permission level allows them to do except delete; and then 2) place your
select users into the OOTB Contribute permission level which enables them to also delete items.

  • Loss the "Deleted Items" folder on Exchange 2007 WEB interface and any Outlook with any version.

    Hi,
My client had lost his "Deleted Item" folder in his outlook, and I try to used the WEB interface to help to check, also can't find out the "Deleted Item" folder.
Then we're try to used outlook 2003,2007 and 2013 also can't find that.
Could you mind let me know any solution we can solve this problem with my client?
    Thanks

I believe the Deleted Items folder was just hidden from view, as I don't think a user can delete their Deleted Items folder. Here's a KB for the fix: Contacts or other default folder hidden, but shortcut works with Open in New Window Article ID: 924226
(http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B924226&x=12&y=12). In short, you need to change the PR_ATTR_HIDDEN value for the hidden folder, which in your case is the
    Deleted Items folder.

  • Can't Delete Empty Folder in Deleted Items

Running Outlook 2013 on a Windows 8.1 machine. Exchange 2010 on SBS 2011 platform.
I have an empty folder within the deleted items folder. I can manually delete all messages within the deleted items but I cannot get that empty sub folder deleted. My permissions are set to "owner". I'm getting a message that says, "outlook
is synchronizing local changes made to items in this folder. You cannot remove this folder until the synchronization with the server is complete". I've done shift+F9 in both the deleted items and the sub folder and that hasn't helped.
    Please advise.

  • One user can't get Outlook to work

    Hi,
We have one user who is having problems with Outlook. It started a few weeks ago, and no one else is having the same problem. It says "The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online to complete this action"
    Environment:
    Outlook 2010
    Windows 7
    Exchange 2010
    What i've tried:
    1. Repairing the Outlook installation
    2. Running anti-virus full scan, which revealed that there were viruses on this computer!
    3. Making sure the workstation can ping the Exchange server. It can, but Outlook can't reach the Exchange server.
    4. Running scanpst or whatever it is. It found problems and I choose the repair option.
    5. Uninstalled Office 2010 then reinstalled it
I've run out of ideas really, and have tried pretty much everything that googling found. Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Makolyte

See if the user can use Outlook on a different PC, and whether OWA works for them (see if it
is definitely a problem with their workstation, or with their mailbox
They were using OWA as a workaround from their workstation, then started using Outlook on their laptop and that worked. So OWA works for them and Outlook works from
    a different computer.
    Run
    the Test
Email Autoconfiguration wizard to see if it reports any errors
Is it possible to run this while Outlook is going through the setup wizard? I haven't seen this while it was configuring, so i haven't tried that.
    Try
destroying their profile and letting Outlook recreate it. You could rename the AppData folder to do this
I went through Ctrl Panel > Mail, and removed their profile, and then ran the Outlook wizard several times. Although, i haven't tried that since uninstalling/reinstalling Outlook. I will try that next week when this user is available. Is this sufficient,
or should I rename the AppData folder like you said?
    Check that Outlook has RPC
Encryption configured correctly - Compare to a user who is working
Running Get-RpcClientAccess on the Exchange server shows
    Name: RpcClientAccess
    EncryptionRequired: false

  • Remove e-mail in deleted items older then 5 days

Hello, we need to clean up the deleted items folders of our users. We are using Exchange 2010
We have decided to clean up all mail older then 5 days in the deleted items folder.
I have created a retention policy tag.
    - Tag Type = Deleted Items
    - Age limit = 5 days
    - Action to take = Delete and allow recovery
I have also created a retention policy and added a test mailbox
    - Assigned the retention
I have ran the  Start-ManagedFolderAssistent -Identity "testmailbox" cmdlet
It seems to delete all mail in the deleted items after 5 days the policy is applied?
I have deleted an e-mail yesterday on 30th of april. So it should expire on may the 6th?

    Hi,
The retention age for items in the Deleted Items default folder is calculated based on the date of delivery unless the item was moved or deleted from a folder that doesn't have an inherited or implicit retention tag. Here is an article about how to calculate
    retention age for your reference.

  • How to Prevent duplicates on Combination of Lookup columns in sharepoint 2010 using infopath 2010 form.

    Hi All,
I have list with some Lookup columns like  City, Pin, and Text Column Name. All these are required columns.
Now I want to prevent duplicates while submitting InfoPath form if a Combination of  City,Pin & Name. (like a Composite primary in Database is used.)
Can some one help me on how to achieve this using InfoPath  2010 Rules, writing  rule in Xpath.
    Thanks in Advance.

    1. Add a secondary data connection to the list where the form will be submitted.
    2. Prior to submit via rules, set the query fields in the above connection: City, Pin & Name with values entered in the form. Query the data source and check if the result has values.
    3. Show error messages accordingly if exists else continue with Submit.

  • Exchange 2010 SP3 - How many Calendar Items/Folders can you create under "all public folder"

    Hi,
Is there a limitation on how many calendar items/folders you can create under "all public folder" in Exchange 2010 SP3?
    Thank you

I don't believe you can create calendar items under the root folder, but it's been so long since I worked with a system that had public folders that I'm not sure.  If you mean "a folder that can contain calendar items", that is not a calendar
    item itself.
Now, I believe your underlying question is, "How many folders can be created at the root level of the public folder hierarchy?"  If so, there is no simple limit that I know of (you can have thousands, if you really want), but management gets
pretty unruly with the more that you have.  I normally recommend that you create sub-folders to logically meet your requirements, then have each of these with more folders (normally that only specific groups of users will be able to access or add items
to).  And anyone will tell you that you want to restrict anyone from creating their own folders at the root level.  In fact, this is the default setting for a new Exchange 2010 installation.
I'll add that you really should stop trying to use public folders, since there are newer technologies (SharePoint, for instance) that work much better and are much easier to use.
