Hello clark,

  • Duplicate Devices In LMS 3.2

    Hi There.
I have trolled this forum, and I find issues with LMS 3.1 and Duplicate devices and the engineers say that it is fixed in LMS 3.2, but I have a customer who is experiencing this with LMS 3.2 below is the customers request:
This has now been the 3rd week in a row that after the XXXXX discovery we
    ended up with duplications.
I have looked at a few and most are due to 2 or more ip addrs defined on te
    device.
The example here are the RCC MSFCs which we manage via VLAN50 ip and the source
is set to VLAN50 on the device but LMS also discovers it via a loopback addr.
It is causing us hassles with max limit on LMS system as well as having
    duplications on reports.
Please could you give me some advice.
    Joan

Ok ran the walk, and it can be read by one of the devices showing up as a duplicate, below is a short extract, should you require the whole walk, ill be happy to post it
The following is a SNMP walk of device 10.111.1.2 starting from .1.3.6.1.2.1.4.20

  • Duplicate device messages

Trying to re-add devices under Common Services 3.3.0: devices that CS appears to have dropped off, I get 'duplicate device' errors.  The device cannot be located by either device name or IP Address under either CS or RME, however it does appear in the discovery reports has having been seen.  The IP Address for the device IS one of the seed devices used in the discovery process.   Any suggestions?

If the LMS server is integrated with ACS, check the Common Services > Device and Credentials > Reports > Devices not configured in ACS report.  They will probably be seen there.  If they are, you will need to add these devices as network elements in the same ACS to which LMS is integrated.

  • DCR Add Device shows Duplicate Device Name

When manually adding some devices via DCR Device Management I get the "Duplicate Device Name" error.
The names do not show in the DCR Device Management Selector. I have also done an Export of All Devices and the names are not in there either.
I have confirmed that the forward and reverse names and IP addresses resolve corerctly in DNS.
How/why would it complain of a duplicate name that doesn't seem to be in there?
This is LMS v3.2  CS v3.3.0
    Thanks for any help,

The devices are as you suspect in the "Devices not configured in ACS report"
I think I see what's happenned. Looks like the devices were orginally added to LMS but at the time they were not correctly configured in ACS.
What has happened since is that the ACS configuration is now correct, but the devices have also been deleted from the LMS DCR.
So they are not showing in the DCR but they are showing in the "Devices not configured in ACS report".
I presume this is what is preventing them from being re-added, will they naturally age out of the ACS report somehow?

  • Monitor power consumption on non POE device using LMS 4.1 ?

How do i monitor power consumption of our endpoint device such as IBM server, UCS server, PC , etc which isn't powered by POE ?

I'm way to lazy to read all this stuff (that's my nature) but I tried a few things with an IP phone and an access point because a customer was interested.
TAC said to forget about the access point, LMS will only manage the IP phone.
Do you see these endpoint devices in LMS anywhere? I asume you managed to get the agent software and put them on these devices.
In theory they should then get 'discovered' as endpoints. Not sure how LMS would be able to do that though. Unless the endpoint agent knows about LMS and starts talking I don't see how it could work.
Anyway, the theory is that in LMS you have a group of endpoints in an endpoint group. Then you should be able to configure endpoint attributes.... , and then you should be able to create a policy and apply it to that group. But I think the policies you can create in LMS now, are for IP phones only.
You should also be able the generate power reports on an endpoint group. Provided you are able to discover these endpoints.
Do let us know how you are getting on with this though. Energywise is interesting but the current implementation in LMS may be a bit too minimalistic. (please prove me wrong)
    Cheers,
    Michel

  • Help! Duplicate devices on iPhone with iMessage's Continuity

Hi! After a clean install of Yosemite  on my MacBook Pro (15“ early 2011) my iPhone 4S (iOS 8.1) shows 7 different devices called "Macbook Pro of Niccoló" in Settings - Messages, without the ability to erase the duplicates. I'm used to do a clean install since Leopard. I have also an iPad Mini 2 which is correctly displayed on my iPhone. This is driving me crazy, please someone can help me? Thanks.

In my case this happened when I first set up to synch my contacts with Exchange, at this point it asked if I wanted to keep the contacts on my phone, when I said Yes I ended up with two entries for most people on the All Contacts group listing on my phone, the solution was to use one addressbook or the other.
I suggest you have a look at the Groups page of your Contacts app, as that will list the addressbooks you are currently using and help you diagnose the problem.
Note: If you use Google for email and sync with Google contacts using the Exchange GAL it will show Google's record of which contacts you have EVER used in email among the suggestions that pop up when addressing a mail, even though they are not stored locally in your contacts list.
Hope some of the above helps you, or someone working with a similar problem

  • A report about reachable devices in LMS report tools

                       Hi all,
is possible to display a report about reachable devices in DCR database? The report about unreachable devices is only in the reports menu in LMS 4.2.4 (Reports > Inventory > Management Status >Unreachable Devices).
I tried to use the report designer, but there is no possibility to create a rule for this report.:-( Similarly I tried to create group devices, but I didn't find some criteria for this type of group. Thanks.
    Roman

    Hi Roman,
As per my knowledge , there is no such report available in LMS, however I would suggest you to create a POLLER for DEVICE AVAILBLITY  to achive your goal.
Go to  Monitor > Performance Settings > Setup > Pollers     >> click Create Poller.
check the below link for more information:

  • Differences discovered for the same device in LMS 4.1

    Hi,
We have installed Cisco Prime 4.1 and we have discovered all the devices of our network. Although all devices appear as known both in Monitor and in Inventory, some of them are not being monitored correctly.
For example, in the Known_Device_List Report, I have a device named 'Switch1' with IP 'x.x.x.' but in the monitoring, it shown by the name 'Switch2' with the same IP 'x.x.x.x'.
It seems that the DFM database doesn't get correctly this device from DCR, but in the LMS 4.1 version there is no option to delete this device from the DFM. I already tried to rediscovery devices throught CLI by the dmctl -s DFM invoke ICF_TopologyManager::ICF-TopologyManager discoverAll command, but with no success.
What is this behaviour due? Any idea about how to fix it?
    Thanks in advanced.
    Best regards,
    Laura

Best way is to make sure name resolution is working so LMS can lookup the device's system-name and use the ip address it resolves to, as the management IP
Often there are inconsistencies, if an IP resolves to a name, and then the name resolve to another IP
Use resolver.pl in CSCOpx\bin to see how LMS resolves the devicename/ IP
If this is different from what you expect then you have an issue on your DNS.
Sometimes a local hosts file is easier to manage
    Cheers,
    Michel

  • Questioned Devices in LMS - DFM

Hi, We are running LMS 3.2 (windows) and I have a group of switches I am trying to monitior in DFM.
I have discovered the devices in device management successfully. Then I import the devices into DFM they always go into a questioned state.
Several attempts with the same results have been tried.
I checked in MARS and I see denies from my LMS server to the devices Im trying to import to DFM.  The traffic seems to be in relation to when Im attemping the imports to DFM.  The denies are on UDP-137.  Is this port needed from LMS to the device for DFM to discover and monitor it ???
I have increased the SNMP Timeout to 14 seconds 3 retries
    DFM version is 3.2.0
Credentials are correct for the monitored devices
    THANKS - John

No, udp/137 is not required.  The devices must be pingable and reachable via SNMP.  Make sure the LMS server can ping the management IP addresses of these devices.

  • Cannot import devices from LMS to QPM

Hi - I hope someone can help me on this one.
I have just installed Cisco QPM 3.2 on my network to work with my existing LMS 2.6. At the moment, I am struggling to import devices from my LMS to QPM, with error messages, "The file format is incorrect. Please select a file with the correct format". I don't know how else to deal with this. The file is successfully exported from Common Services in LMS and saved on a drive. From my QPM, I navigate to Add Devices--->Import from CSV file and browse to location where file is saved in LMS. However, it keeps giving me the same error message of incorrect file format.
Can someone be kind enough to assist me on this?
Find attached the error message received.
    Thank you

Most likely this is due to the incompatibility in the respective Common Services versions of QPM 3.2 (CS 2.2?) and LMS 2.6 (CS 3.0.6?). I would make a dummy device entry in QPM 3.2, export it out to csv, then compare the QPM csv with the existing csv you have from LMS 2.6. Since your goal is to import into QPM, you'd want to edit the LMS csv (probably by deleting any "new" columns introduced in CS 3.x).

  • Routers are showing as unconnected devices in LMS 4.2

    Dear All,
I am using LMS to monitor my branch routers. I have discoved my routers but they are showing as un connected device in the topoloty Map. But my data center switches are showing as the connected devices. My routers are connected through the MPLS cloud. Does routers connected through MPLS cloud as connected devices ???
    Thanks in advance,
    Selva...

    Hi Selva,
Currently Campus topology is supporting CDP for Topology computation. MPLS is unfortunately not supported
    Thanks-

  • Remove devices from LMS

I am working on a LMS 2.6 system. No ACS integration. LMS has not been touched in 3 years.
800 devices are in the database. Several offices have been closed so about 100 devices are no longer reachable.
Is there any automated method to remove these devices?
Can I run a report to see when a device was last contacted?
Sent from Cisco Technical Support iPhone App

    Bill,
With LMS 2.6 there is not a quick way to do this.  Version 3.2 and up does have a poller in Common Services that can track devices that have been unreachable for a time period and report on that.
However, you can go to the RME application and look at the inventory collection screen and note any that have failed recently when collecting inventory on a regular basis.  That list of devices should contain the ones out of commission now.  Use that list to remove the necessary devices from the Device Credential Respository (DCR) in Common Services.

  • EA6500 Devices Issues Duplicate Devices Online cannot delete

I have 3 Direct TV wireless kits on the router yet I am showing yet 6 devices on the device list with duplicate IP addressses.  I turned off power to all 3 kits, and was able to go offline on 3 of the devices, however, 2 would not go away, and 1 device is completely not defined or found in my network.
    Everthing is powered off.
Direct TV 2 devices at .120
Direct TV 2 devices at .113
Direct TV 1 device at .122
and then an unknow device at lan-1 .111, lan-2 .105
How to I fix this stuff?
I have disconnected everything possible to isolate but the unknow device will not go offline.
Neither will all the Direct TV boxes.
Is there a way to force a Device Offline so you can delete it?
I am not sure what to do next?
    Thanks

Hi Bmyers. Is your network secured? If there are devices that you cannot remove, ensure that the firmware is updated. Try to restart your router and see if the devices are still there. This could a be similar case with devices showing up incorrectly on device list: http://community.linksys.com/t5/Wireless-Routers/WRT1900AC-Network-map-wrong/m-p/846156#M280970
In that article, I suggested to configure the DHCP reservation list to avoid the software from incorrectly naming devices on the network.

  • TS4036 Duplicate Devices on iCloud after restore

I have a 16gb iPhone 4. Backups are automatically on but they are full. I just restores from an older backup and now it shows an additional iPhone 4 in the list of devices. Can I delete the old 4 backup and start all over?

You can delete a backup if you no longer need it.  This won't effect any of the data on your phone.  Just be sure you don't need it any more because once it's deleted you can't get it back.
