Duplicate "Home" calendars on iCloud, Mac, and iOS

I have 18 (and counting) "Home" calendars showing up in Calendar on my Macs (OS X 10.9.2), iOS (iOS 7.2), and on the iCloud.com site.
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3999 says
If your calendars are duplicated on iCloud.com, contact iCloud Support.
which I haven't done except to look in these discussions.
Here is what I see in Calendar on the Mac and aslo on iCloud. (iOS is similar, but I think you all get the point from these two screenshots).
It seems that the list of Home calendars is growing over time, but I haven't carefully verifying that.
So how do I effienctly check which ones I can delete, and how do I prevent this from re-occurring.

There is no feature that would cause this to happen.  Either the iCloud account itself has something wrong with it, or one of your Apple devices/computer connected to it has something wrong with it.
If you really want to try to fix this yourself, I would recommend disconnecting all of your devices form iCloud, like 100% sign out of icloud completely on your Macs and Delete Account on your iOS devices.  Then use icloud.com to compare the calendars and delete the duplications.
If you have the ability to go without your calendar for a few days, I would keep all the devices off of it and see if it duplicates.  If all seems clear, log back into your Macs and devices one per day checking to see if it runs wild again that way you can identify which device if causing the issue.
If not, logging out/delete account cleaning it up then logging back in may fix the issues.
I would certainly recommend creating a backup of your calendars before you start and when you do log out of icloud and delete it off you devices, tell it to delete calendars that way only the copy you clean up on iCloud.com is left and hopefully bug free.
I hope this helps.

How can I add a new calendar to my Mac and share it with my wife's Mac.  I execute the normal process and she receives the email and accepts sharing but the new calendar doesn't show up on her mac or iPhone.

    Hi,
I would point out that I did say...
Of course the Contacts List has to have people listed in it.
The Error seems to be that you have not even got an My Card.
The OS when the computer is brand new and you set up the first Admin Account should create at least once Card entry for the Address Book/Contacts which has the Head and Shoulders icon (the My Card)
The does presume the the first account on the Mac doers have a person's First name and Last name to work with.
Of course not everyone sets things up this way.
    Anyhow
To Check the Contacts List open the app.
    Go to the Preferences.
    Go to the Accounts section.
This should list at least two "accounts
One is for Syncing with iCloud and the other is for storing the Info on the Mac itself
In System Preferences > iCloud you can only set up one Apple ID to be the iCloud ID.
If you do or have changed this you may have extra accounts in the Contacts > Preferences > Accounts

  • How to use iPhoto on Mac and iOS in conjunction

I'm using iPhoto on both my Mac, iPhone and iPad. After the new Photo Stream and the new iPhoto iOS app has been released I think it is all started to get a little confusing. Here is some of my thoughts.
    1) When I delete a photo from my Photo Stream the photo gets deleted on all my devices. Nice. On my Mac, iPhoto is for instance creating a "mar. 2012 Photo Stream" event, where all photos from the Photo Stream is keept -- also the deleted once. That's OK. On my Mac I can cleanup these events by deleting the unwanted photos. All my photos are synced to iPad but it seems, that I cannot cleanup these events on iPhoto on my iPad. Is that right? I'm able to "hide" the photos from the events, but that does not delete them -- and they are still visible on my Mac after their are synced.
    2) I have an "Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit" making me able to import photos from my camera to my iPad, which I do daily when I'm on vacation. I thought that I could just import the photos to my iPad, put them in an event/album, edit/retouch them -- and when my iPad gets near my Mac the events/albums gets synced to my iPhoto on my Mac (without having to import them to the Mac manually). But it seems that the Camera app on my iPad is just putting the imported Photos in the "Last Import" album. How is Apple thinking we should do this? I cannot find a way to move them to an Event.
    3) Generally, the difference between Albums and Events in iPhoto iOS seems unclear. After the new iPhoto for iOS was released, I was hoping that I could edit, retouch and choose the best photos from an Events and put them in an Album. I can create a Journal with these photos but that is not always what I want. For instance if I would like to make a slideshow for my TV, it would be nice to have a clean album where only the best photos from an event. How is Apple thinking this should be done?
Please tell me how you are using iPhoto on Mac and iOS. For me it does not work perfectly.

Not only do they not work perfectly, they do not work together at all. Pretty much the only thing they share is a name. They are quite independent apps. Editing history on one can not be carried over to the other, so you can't start working on shots on one device and continue on the other. Events, Albums etc have no relation with each other and so on. Perhaps the next version of iPhoto (for either OS) will move them closer together but at this time they have no relationship at all.

  • Why do I have 4 calendars (local, home, calendar in icloud and calendar) in outlook now?

when I set up icloud my Outlook went crazy and has produces 3 calendars in addition to the one I had already. They have different colour schemes and names (local calendar in icloud;home in icloud;calendar in icloud). What are they? Do I need them? Can I get rid of them and just get back to one calendar?

Go to iCloud.com, login and see how many calendars exist there, delete the ones you don't want.

  • ITunes match does not work on my iPhone 4S, but is working across all of my other Macs and iOS devices.  All other iCloud services are working fine on the 4S - any suggestions?

iTunes match is not working on my iPhone 4S; it works awesome across all of my Macs and other iOS devices (iPad 2, iPod Touch 4g x 2, and my wife's iPhone 4).  Any suggestions?  Thanks!

It is not possible to "toggle back and forth" at will. If you associate a device with an Apple ID and you have iTunes Match enabled you must wait 90 days before you can associate it with another Apple ID. See this Apple KB article for more information: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627

  • How can I get iCloud to use the same Apple ID on my Mac and iOS devices

I have an Apple ID that syncs between my iPhone and iPad. The Apple ID on my Mac is different and I cannot change it so it uses the same Apple ID and iCloud account.

Sign out of the Apple ID on your Mac and sign in to the one you want to use. Go to System Preferences>iCloud>Sign Out
Then sign in to the Apple ID you use with your iPhone and iPad.

  • ICal home calendar won't sync after iOS 5 -- Snow Leopard

Since I upgraded my iPhone 3GS to iOS 5, my desktop computer's iCal home calendar is no longer syncing events from the iPhone. I'm running Snow Leopard, so I know the desktop computer can't sync through the cloud. But shouldn't it still be getting new events from the iPhone itself when the iPhone syncs with the desktop, same as it used to before iCloud?

Try something very simple first. Quit iTunes, reboot the Mac and restart the iPad. Then try again.
I had some issues when I first installed SL on my last MacBook, and I still have issues every now and then with the iPad not being recognized (now running Lion 10.7.3 on a new MacBook Pro) and this has always worked for me. You may have to reboot the Mac a couple of times - but try it and see if it works for you.

  • Indent Lengths Between Pages for Mac and iOS

I've been using Pages on my iPad a lot for classes. During lectures, I type outlines in a blank document and quickly switch between headings and subheadings with the "indent increase" and "indent decrease" buttons in the toolbar (looking at the ruler, it seems like the default indent length is a little more than half an inch - maybe 1.5cm?).
The problem is that when I later open the document via iCloud in Pages on my iMac, the indent lengths become readjusted so that each indentation takes up 1.8 inches (so 3.6 inches for a double indent, 5.4 for a triple, etc.). Short of highlighting each line and manually changing the indent length in the inspector, I haven't found a way to fix this change. Further, if I make any other changes to the document in Mac Pages, that 1.8 inch indent length carries over to iOS Pages. When I then try to open the document in iOS, I get:
"This document may look different on your iOS device than on your Mac. Use Open Copy if you want to preserve the original." [Open Copy] [Open]
Not wanting a duplicate, I'll choose [Open], and I found I could quickly restore the 1.5cm length by selecting all text, going to list settings and selecting "None" (as opposed to "Bullet," "Image,' etc.). But the next time I try to open the document in Mac Pages, the cycle repeats.
Am I missing some obvious way of keeping these indents consistent across devices, or do I just need to deal with this reformatting each time?
(newest versions of desktop/mobile Pages are running on Mountain Lion and iOS 6)

  • Pocketmac deleted calendar entries on mac and won't sync events with BB Storm.

I just removed the google sync from my Storm and now Pocketmac is not syncing properly. Basically all my calendar events are still on my Storm (luckily) however pocketmac has now wiped all calendar entries from Entourage! I have tried re-syncing with BB overwrites Mac however this only places one long calendar event (months long) with strange characters in the name (i.e. garbage).
Does anybody have a suggestion for me to try to get my calendar entries back into Entourage and for Pocketmac to properly sync?

What happened is that when you deleted google sync it also most likely deleted the google calendar on your storm and put all of your calendar entries into the Storm's "DEFAULT CALENDAR"
Unfortunately, the default calendar will NOT sync with anything (one of my frustrations with my BB 8320).
Fixing it is somewhat complicated, but this is what I had to do.
Back up your storm with Desktop Manager
Go to Options>Advanced Options>Default Services and set your default calendar to your e-mail address and and your messaging to the same e-mail address
Sync your storm with your calendar (hopefully you have a backup on your computer)
Look at your calendar -- you should have duplicate entries of almost everything, this is OK.
In the calendar hit the applications key (blackberry key) and go to SELECT CALENDAR and select "default Calendar". This will only show you what's in the default calendar and not the new one you just synced.
Go to Date 12/31/2035 -- yes 2035. This should take you to the bottom of the calendar -- I usually do this in Agenda View
Highlight the last date that you have in the calendar and hit the menu key and select DELETE PRIOR ITEMS. This should delete everything in the default calendar.
Now you should have single entries for most of your calendar items. However, there many still be some duplicates, usually recurring items, and these have to be deleted manually.
This is what worked for me
That's what I needed to do, and now it seems to be working fine.

  • Calendars "From My Mac" and "MobileMe"

Now in the calendars categories have both if you use MobileMe, "From My Mac" and "MobileMe" calendars.
If show all calendars then look like all sync and duplicated twice.
    What can I do?

    Hi Yu,
Yes, I did this too. For me, it was due to the fact that on the info tab in iTunes, I had ticked the 'Sync Address Book' and 'Sync iCal Calendars' options. You don't need these ticked, if you already sync over the air with MobileMe, unless you want duplicates on your iPhone.
    To correct this I:
    1) Un-ticked these options in iTunes (this didn't remove the duplicates though, even after a sync), so...
    2) Deleted my MobileMe account from my iPhone in Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars (don't worry, your data is stored in the cloud)
    3) Re-added my MobileMe account on my iPhone. As soon as my MobileMe credentials had been verified, the phone identified that the contacts and calendars that I was downloading from MobileMe already existed on my phone (synced from my Mac), and it gave me the option to Merge these with my MobileMe data. I chose the option to merge, and as soon as that was done (took a few seconds), I was back to one set of MobileMe data, and no duplicates.
    Sorted...
    Hope that helps.
    Chris.

  • Apple, please fix Calendar, iCal, iCloud, Sync and let us work...

There're so many errors and bugs, please redo it from the start an do it right. Don't you have enough resources?
Have you guys seen how many discussions are about iCal, Calendar and iCloud, sync service, '403 error', 'There was an unexpected error with the request (domain (null) / error 0)', 'The server responded: “403” to operation CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation' , etc, etc.??
Don't you think is enough? At least Mobil me used to work fine..
I don't want to offend anybody but I bet there are some users out there sick and tired of these things...

I'm going to pile on to the iCloud iCal and Reminders implimentation.  I'm still using Snow Leopard so I did a work around with setting iCloud up as a CalDav account.  But why is it that between my iPhone, iPad, iCloud.com and my MacBook Pro that iCal on my MacBook is the only place where I can see my events and ToDos on the same screen?  I can almost understand on the iPhone, but with the iPad and iCloud interface there is plenty of real estate.
I don't know how any body can use the iOS and iCloud tools to effectively manage thier schedules.  As it is I am using third party iOS apps and google calendars and tasks.

  • HP Printer can no longer be found wirelessly by Mac and iOS devices?

I have an HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw printer which has been successfully connected wirelessly for quite some time. I recently replaced an older Time Capsule (flat square) with one of the new tower-looking Time Capsules, and the same replacement for an Airport Express I use as an access point. Again this is all the same setup as previously.
The issue is none of the devices can find the printer wirelessly anymore, despite the fact that the printer reports it's on the network and operating fine, and I can see the printer in the Printers & Scanners/Add window. I have attempted downloading and reinstalling the software from HP, deleting old printers in the Preferences panel and reinstalling from there, and nothing has worked. If I try to re-add the printer using the Bonjour Multifunction entry and AirPrint as the driver, it gets as far as the "Setting up the device" progress dialog and then fails with an error that reads: "An error occurred while trying to add the selected device. Unable to communicate with the printer at this time."
I have tried setting up an IP reservation for the printer and using the IP setup in the Add window (instead of the default); with and without the HP Jetdirect protocol; using the AirPrint driver and the selected HP series driver -- no success with any choice.
So far my only workaround is connecting it by USB to the nearest Mac and sharing it on the network using Printer Sharing. This is not the ideal solution, of course, since it means my iOS devices still can't find it and the Mac needs to be turned on 24/7 to share out the printer. I bought this printer originally specifically for its AirPrint capability so I could print to it from iPads and iPhones as well as my Macs. Currently I can't print from any iOS devices so it's rather painful.
Any suggestions to get this fixed will be much appreciated

Reset the TC to factory and start again..
New names.. short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.
    eg TCgen5 base station name.
I also strongly recommend using different names for the bands when things go wrong. TC24ghz and TC5ghz.
Use WPA2 personal security with a short pure alphanumeric password.. (short meaning 8-20 characters mixed case and numbers)
Redo the setup of the Express based on the new setup.
Redo the connection of the printer to the wireless network.
Test the printer by pinging it from the computer.
Delete all drivers in the computer for the printer.. and start over.
That generally will get it running.
If not use the old TC as a wireless AP for printer connection .. by doing extend wireless with it and placing it near the printer.

  • How to properly configure a home network using both Mac and PC computers

Is there a book or set of guidelines that can tell me how to properly configure (exact specifications) my computers in a home network? Here is what I am trying to do and using:
    1) Three computers: iMac (late 06 ver), Macbook (newest version), Dell laptop. The two Macs are using Leopard and the PC is XP.
    2) Bellsouth modem which feeds into the Airport Extreme Base Station (AEBS)
    3) The AEBS has a USB hub which is connected to a external hard drive and two inkjet printers. A third laser printer/scanner/fax machine is connected to the AEBS via ethernet.
    4) All three computers use a wireless connection to the AEBS.
    I would like the following:
    1) Have a secured and password driven network - don't want outsiders connecting to the nework without permission.
    2) All computers to be able to access the USB printers and ext HD.
    3) The two Macs to read/write to each other with password access
    4) The iMac to have read/write capabalities over the PC via VSFusion or Bootcamp if possible.
Currently, all three have Internet access via the AEBS and can print on the ethernet printer. Both Macs can see the Bonjour USB printers and print (however they to do not display on the AEBS configuration display utility and neither does the ext HD). The USB ext HD is shown on the iMac desktop and I have access to it, but does not display on the MacBook. I have not checked if the PC sees the external HD and it really does not matter if it ever does, although it would be nice.
I am hoping that there is some standard configuration that I can "cut and paste" that is generally used to allow a home network to share resources while still being secure.
Any advice and help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Andrew

    Andrew,
What you would like is fairly complicated so this will probably be a lengthy post, but hopefully I can assist you.
As others here have pointed out, networks can vary widely, but the best networks have one element in common: planning. The first thing you need to think about is how you would like all of these systems to cooperate. For instance, do you want one of the machines to serve files to the others and be a central repository, or are you just interested in having them share documents on occasion so that you don't have to carry around, say, a USB key all the time? That said, here is a basic list of things I think you should look into.
    1. Network Basics
First step is to get your local network set up. I'd go for WPA or WPA2 wireless security as they are relatively strong standards and you can use human-readable passwords. Additionally, unless you have an explicit need for someone outside your network to initialize a connection (Windows' RDP for instance), do not allow any passthroughs or port redirects on your AEBS.
    2. Network Topology
Decide how you want computers and networked devices to identify themselves and their relative locations in the network: in short, do you want static ip's or dynamic ip's? Most of the time, static IP's can be assigned on a DHCP router, the trick is to assign the statics higher than your number of devices (or lower on some routers - for instance Linksys routers start DHCP at 192.168.1.100 but you could have statics from 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.99). For instance, it is impractical to set a laptop to static because I'm often in coffee shoppes and other environments that assign via DHCP; on the other hand, it's a good idea to have a printer be static so that you always know where to find it. So, I have 10.0.1.x network (default on AEBS), and the printer is 10.0.1.24, since the likelihood of my encountering an IP conflict with 4 computers on the subnet is virtually zero. If you configure a static device behind your AEBS, defaults are usually
    Default Gateway 10.0.1.1
    IP Address 10.0.1.(your choice)
    Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
    3. File-sharing.
3a) Mac OS X has a built-in SMB/CIFS (Windows file & printer sharing protocol) client, and a basic SMB [samba] server can be enabled in the sharing preference panel (enable file and/or printer sharing). Windows XP can use these shares, but must authenticate. For that reason, you may not be able to see your shares in the Network Places browser, however you should be able to get to them by mapping the network drive (tools menu) or executing RUN with \\computer.name\share.name. You will then be able to type in your credentials. I would also suggest relatively simple names for the Macs in question (set in Sharing preference pane). Typing Andrew's-iMac-G4 in every time you want to find it will get irritating after a while to say the least, especially if you need to troubleshoot.
3b) The reverse works similarly. You can Connect to Server... from Finder to get to the Windows shares. To do this you must have Windows File and Printer sharing enabled (most easily through the Network Setup Wizard in Control Panels - Use Classic View). It's really easy if your account names and passwords are identical on the Mac and PC, because when loading user profiles, the Mac will generally automatically try to authenticate against the Windows machine with your Mac logon credentials. (Windows seems to do this against the Mac as well) You can write an Applescript or there are some PLIST modifications you can make to mount Windows shares at login.
    4. Printing
I'm not exactly sure what you had in mind here since I'm not sure what's connected to which computer or directly to the network. If it is possible, I personally find putting my printers directly on the network to be the easiest thing. Especially if printing large PDF or graphics files, the spooling on the host system can really slow the computer down, and slow down printing. For example, I used to have a laserjet on a Windows box and had to print a very large file. Going through a Win print server, it only printed a page every 30 seconds, but when I got a jetdirect adapter, the whole thing was done in under two minutes. If you have HP Printers, I would recommend the jetdirect print servers (I have used with both a laserjet and a supposedly unsupported color inkjet).
