Duplicate Identical Other SMTP Servers

Like others that have posted I have duplicate entries for an IMAP account I have setup on my iPhone.
1. Why do I have duplicate entries showing up under Other SMTP Servers?
2. Are they all required.
3. If not, how do I get rid of the duplicates?
Thanks,
G

I've had a similar lack of success on my iPhone 3G. There are three ways in which this has failed:
• I've carefully copied the SMTP settings from a working Mail.app account, but the iPhone 3G consistently tells me that the account cannot be verified, which prevents it from being added to my list of SMTP servers.
• I've also tried syncing mail accounts using iTunes, which just causes iTunes to hang.
• Lastly, I set my personal email address (personal web domain) to use the SMTP server for a gmail account. This will send the email, but it appears to the recipient as coming from the gmail address, NOT from the personal address.
In all three cases, iPhone's SMTP behavior has proved to be completely unacceptable. I may be returning my iPhone in the near future.

  • How delete 'Other SMTP Servers' from email account?

In trying to figure out how to SEND email using my iPhone 3G I changed some port settings, according to Comcast. In the end doing this added a bunch of 'Other SMTP Servers.' I've deleted one of my email accounts and re-set it up, to no avail. The INCOMING port number keeps setting up its own number and I cannot change it to 110, as it should be, so I cannot receive email on theis account. Everytime I change it to 110 it automatically changes itself back to other numbers (587, 99?) when I exit and try to retrieve email. I've synced my iPhone with my pc...didn't work.
So, I need to know how to change my INCOMING port setting to 110 and keep it that way, delete multiple 'Other SMTP Servers' listed within any of my email accounts, and also how do I SEND email while outside the home (I can send email fine when I'm home using my wireless router)?

Same problem. Every time I add a new account its smtp server details are added to the list of available servers, even if exactly the same details already exist in the list. I now have three identical smtp servers listed.
Discovered this when having smtp connection refused problems after adding three different email domain addresses that I use with the same service provider - the first one is ok, the other two always fail smtp connection. The smtp details for all accounts are exactly the same, which works perfectly well when using Mail on my MacPro machine, but not it appears on my iPhone.
I can delete the troublesome accounts on my iPhone (have not yet figured out why all three work fine together on my MacPro machine but not on the iPhone) but, there does not seem to be a way of deleting duplicated or unwanted smtp information from the iPhone. Regarding ports, I use port 25 for sending on all 3 accounts, but I did notice that the iPhone setup automatically chose 587, which although legit does not appear to work.
    Any suggestions?

  • What are iCloud email other SMTP servers?

I went to Settings<Mail, Contacts<iCloud account<Account<Mail<SMTP. What do "other SMTP" servers do. One of those is a gmail server. What does it mean?

  • Mail to blocked SMTP server stalls mails to other SMTP servers

    Hi,
I have a particularly weird problem.
In Mail.app I have a Mobile Me account, a personal IMAP account and an Exchange account (working over IMAP etc. as it's Exchange server 2003 so I don't get all the fruity Snow Leopard/Exchange goodness).
The problem I have is this- in the office they block access to external SMTP servers (quite rightly).
If I send a mail through my Mobile Me or personal IMAP account and forget to tell it to use the internal work SMTP server then Mail.app will sit forever trying to connect to the external SMTP server and never time out (or if it does timeout it must be more than a few hours).
This isn't a huge problem in and of itself. However from this point on any mail I send will sit behind the stalled e-mail in the queue and never go out- so even my internal mails hang around not sending.
The only indication of this is the non-stop spinning wheel on the sent items folder and the never-ending 'Connecting to smtp.me.com' in the activity window.
The only way to resolve this is to go to the activity window and cancel all connections to the offending SMTP server. At that point the 'Outbox' folder will appear in my folder list and show me all of the e-mails it hasn't sent. I then have to open each one individually and click send again, at which point they go out (provided they still have the correct internal SMTP server selected).

    Ernie,
Thanks for the response. I have previously seen Mail.app fail to send and bring the message back up telling me this- but that usually happens quite some time after trying to send, if at all, and I don't recall ever having this error happen in the office (where they are blocking these ports).
I have had similar issues when travelling and trying to send through hotel networks that typically block port 25- even then I rarely get a failure message (note that this has been happening both on 10.5.x and my clean install of 10.6.x)
    I did check to see if the network here was doing some spoofing on SMTP ports but it isn't;
    #####:~ #####$ time telnet smtp.me.com 25
    Trying 17.148.16.31...
telnet: connect to address 17.148.16.31: Operation timed out
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host
    real 1m15.019s
    user 0m0.002s
    sys 0m0.003s
I get the same 1m15s timeout on port 465 & 587, yet Mail.app never seems to give up trying.
I tried sending to an external SMTP server without SSL to see if the behaviour was any different- but after 15 mins it's still trying so I guess not.
    Weird.

  • Primary and Other SMTP servers

I must be missing something here since I cannot believe anyone could have actually thought this a good idea.
How can I change the Primary SMTP server?
No, I don't mean edit the details, but specify one of the other servers as the Primary. The one currently entered as Primary is no longer required to be that and I want to 'promote' one of the other servers to be the Primary, but the ONLY way I can see to accomplish this is to actually edit the Primary details and create a new 'Other' server. If so, this is such appallingly bad design it beggars belief. Obviously all servers should be stored identically, with a simple flag to specify which is the Primary. Have Apple really been so stupid?
Can anyone point out to me where I am wrong and explain how to change the Primary Server?

  • How do you delete outgoing (SMTP) servers???

Due to the fact many SMTP servers require you to be on their network to login, I have at varioius times set up 3 different SMTP servers in the mail app setup. The mail app never forgets them once you set them up. It even remembers multiple copies of the same SMTP server where I just tried different settings/passwords. The mail app adds all these SMTP accounts (I now have 7 including "other SMTP servers") when I only set up one after deleting the account and starting over. Worse yet, these 7 represent only 3 unique servers and when it's trying to test the outgoing (SMTP) server at setup, it takes forever while it tests all 7 apparently.
Deleting mail account doesn't get rid of these SMPT servers. Resetting iPhone doesn't work because it restores them from from backup in iTunes. There should be some way to get mail app to forget every server/name/password combination you have ever entered when trying to get connected to an outgoing server.
Lest anyone think this is unecessary, keep in mind you can't send from home via cmwx server if you get bad cell coverage. You can't send away from home if you are off your home network, and you can't send from a hotel room with wi-fi access if you have no cell coverage. I fianlly set up a mail account that can be connected to from anywhere, but now I can't get rid of all the rest!

Seems that the only way to clear them out would be to perform a Restore in iTunes and set up as a new phone (not from backup). Note that this is also the only way to clear out the email address autofill list (and that one affects a lot more people than the SMTP server list, I'm sure).
You can submit feedback to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html.

  • Sending email from 2 SMTP servers

    Hi Experts,
We have users from different domains in 1 client. Emails are send out from different domains. We directed SCOT to 1 of the SMTP server, and the email administrator will setup relays from this SMTP server to other SMTP servers. But now, some are saying that relays are not secure and that it should be removed. Hence, we are trying to find alternative.
How am I able to add another SMTP node in SCOT so that email from different domains are directed to different SMTP servers directly?
    Thanks,
    TM

You will not find anything from SAP to support your claim.
SAP designed its system to be able to send emails to a single SMTP node. That is a fact and it is logical because SAP Netweaver is not a dedicated mail software.
If you have more complex needs, you have to find a workaround.
In my company, my solution was to install an SMTP relay software managed by the SAP administration team.
Therefore we can set our own routing rules for incoming or outgoing mails from our SAP systems (ECC, SRM, CRM, etc...)
This SMTP relay can then send or receive emails from the company SMTP official servers.

    Olivier

  • Backup or other smtp server not working in IOS7

After upgrading to IOS7 on my company iPhone5 I can no longer reply to emails received on one account using "Other SMTP Server" option. (i.e. If Primary server can't be reached, it should role to Other SMTP Servers to send message. This was broken after upgrading all our work phones to the new IOS. (both 7 & 7.1)
We still have two phones on IOS6 and this feature works fine on those operating systems
    Any help would be great!
    Thank you...

Ok so I resolved it. I set up the iPhone from new and did NOT restore from backup. I added the apps etc back on manually.
FaceTime worked perfectly. So I made a new backup.
I then restored from my previous backup just to check if FaceTime might work and it failed again.
Tried restore backup from PC and from iCloud - neither worked.
I went back to my new backup and restored - perfect.
My advice. Set up as new iPhone. It's a pain but not as much as not having FaceTime.

  • Deleting old SMTP servers from the iphone

    Dear Friends,
I have 3GS. While I was creating my e-mail accounts on the phone I made mistakes
and after creating these accounts, I deleted. Now I have a new account which works well. But on the "other SMTP servers" there are old servers still exist with the same account name. How should I delete them? Thanks in advanced.

Maybe everyone has this figured out by now, but seems to be a recurring question.
In Settings/Mail/(account)/Account Info/Outgoing Mail Server, select the one you don't want and click the big red "Delete Server" button at the bottom of the screen. Seemples:-)

  • IPhone not choosing other SMTP server (secondary SMTP server)

I'd like to second DividedSky25's post that secondary/other SMTP servers do not work on the iPhone:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1908543
Also, if Apple chose to archive this issue because it was "solved" they should at least have placed a link to the solution so others with the same problem could benefit.
Now, Apple, I am running OS 3.0.1 and the issue still remains. When will it be fixed?
If you've had the same problem as DividedSky25, I and numerous others, would you please voice your support?

I've been having this same problem, as have my business partner and my brother. I would really like a solution to this as changing my outgoing smtp settings depending on where I am completely destroys the practicality of the device... am I wrong?

  • Apple Mail and SMTP servers

I have several identities set up in one Gmail account that I would like to use with Yosemite Mail. I also have two SMTP servers set up for outgoing mail -- one for Gmail, one for work. Is there any way that I can change the settings so that Yosemite Mail automatically chooses the right SMTP server depending on whether I am using my work identity or my Gmail identity? Thanks!

    Hey Dan,
You can edit and change the outgoing SMTP servers in mail. To do that take a look at the article below to walk you through changing it as well as making it to where you choose what outgoing server that you want to use when sending mail.

  • How to configure multiple smtp servers per domain

    Hi,
how do we configure multiple smtp servers per domain/corporate in iplanet messaging server 5.2. i wanted to do this so that i can configure some domains with virus scanning and some domains without antivirus.

    Hi Martin,
Well we are trying to run a report without exactly specifying the name of reports server anywhere, e.g. in database or in form or anywhere else. Now if I do not supply a reports server name using RUN_REPORT_OBJECT, the error it displays is FRM-41211: Integration Error : SSL failure ... However if I specify the reports server name in the form, the reports run perfect. Also the name of reports server is specified in rwservlet.properties.
Now the question goes as follows:
Can I run my report from Form without specifying the name of the Reports server anywhere at all. This is so because either an in-process reports server should be picked or the one which is entered in rwservlet.properties should be pickec up by default. Please correct us if we are wrong. once we are through with it, we have to move to Oracle 10gR2 concept of reports server.
    Thanks in anticipation,
    Ruchi/Saurabh

  • Can I setup multiple SMTP servers / emails with one IMAP servers on the iPh

All my email arrives at one place, on one IMAP server. However I have 2 email addresses, and need to use a different SMTP server for each one. How to setup this on the iPhone? This is what I considered so far:
    1. I don't see how to enter multiple addresses for the same account, and map each address to a SMTP server.
    2. If I create multiple accounts, I have to enter multiple IMAP server, and the iPhone doesn't let me enter the same IMAP server information for different accounts.
    3. I could create a second account with a dummy IMAP/POP server, and a real SMTP server. But then most likely if I respond to mails that arrive on my IMAP server (1st account), Mail will always use my 1st email address when responding. Instead I'd like it to automatically pick as From the To address of the mail I am responding to (as the desktop Mail.app does).
    Alex

If you have multiple SMTP servers available, you can select from one of the available SMTP servers for a particular account.
After you've entered the SMTP server for the first account when creating the 1st account and you've entered the SMTP server for a 2nd account when creating the 2nd account, you'll have both SMTP servers available to use with either or both accounts.
