Duplicate incoming mail messages in 10.5.6

My wife's email account is getting triplicate incoming messages. This does not happen with my account or our daughter's account. I can't find any info on the support site or in the forums for this happening in 10.5.6. Can anyone help?

First, is her Mail configured to remove messages from the server right away, or leave them on for some duration? (Preferences/Accounts/(choose account)/Advanced/Remove copy from server after retrieving message)
Did the 3 copies come in at the same time, or over the course of some time when Mail automatically checked for new mail? Can you use webmail to view what the server shows (could it have 3 copies?)

I keep getting duplicates and sometimes even triplicates of most incoming mail messages.  I have used the "rebuild" option, but nothing seems to work.  Any suggestions?

  • How do I get CC & BCC to appear in incoming mail messages?

Since upgrading to Lion I can't get the CC & BCC to show in incoming mail messages.
Also have we lost the alphabetical index down the side of the address book?

In the very top right of incoming mails, there's a "show more info"-button. This should show any CC and BCCs.
In address book, letters now appear before names with that letter. Unless I misunderstood you, this is what you are looking for.
    Cheers

I can't move my incoming mail messages on my desktop into my mailboxes ever since i upgraded to Yosemite. It keeps defaulting to the old arrangement. My email account runs on IMAP.

Hello using the settings from my email provider (Virgin Media), I set up my email account on my Mac. The problem arises trying to move the emails from the Inbox to the various mailboxes I set up. All this is occurring within Apple's Mail  app, not the Desktop.
Could it be anything to do with the IMAP-enabled synching between my email account on my computer and on Virgin Media's servers where my actions on my computer are not being communicated to the server? I am not an expert and only guessing here! Thanks for pitching in.

  • How Do I Automatically Print Incoming Mail Message

I would like to automatically print selected incoming mail messages. How do I set that up?

Well, I was going to suggest using a mail rule.  If you have already tried that I would think that the rule you have created didn't match the messages.  I think if you still need help, you will probably need to post some more information about the type of messages you are receiving and the rules you have tried, then someone may be able to assist.
There are many guides to using rules in Apple Mail, I'm assuming you are familiar with them, but if not, Googling "apple mail rules" will bring up some examples.
    Hope that helps.

  • TS3276 how do you adjust the line spacing in incoming mail messages?

Some of my mail messages are so compressed they are unreadable. Does anyone know if this can be adjusted? If so, how????????
    Thanks!

Leading is the spacing between lines. In the Print module, when you scroll to the Type feature, make sure you have the extended the Type arrow (shown below), as well as the character menu (also shown below).
When you have that extended, you will see the leading slider, as well as auto leading button. please adjust those as you wish.
    I hope this helps,
    thank you

  • How do I get incoming mail messages to display in plain text?

Recently some incoming messages are virtually unreadable because they are in rich text format and render with incredibly small font size. They are mostly coming from work colleagues using Windows. Recently I upgraded yo Yosemite and they were upgraded to Windows 7: im not sure if either is relevant.
I'm sure there's a trick somewhere to increase the viewing font size after the message displays, but I'd rather it displayed legibly in the first place...
    Any ideas?

If I take the above preferences and change them from Arial 14 to Arial 144 I can get the body in about half of my current messages to display in 144 pt font.
It varies by mail client of sender and to which mail box it goes to on my Mac.  Haven't found a commonality yet.
Someone here will have a brilliant answer, however.

  • Why would I have duplicate Sent mail messages

I use Mail to retrieve my Outlook.com mail and every message I send shows up twice in the Sent mailbox for this account.  It hasn't always done this, so I'm not sure what got changed?

    Dennis,
Who replaced the HD? You or someone else.
Based on your comment, it seems reasonable to think maybe the smaller library that was last modified the same month as the HD replacement was copied to the new HD and contains whatever you had in the library at that time.
    I would do the following:
1 - Select 'Photos' icon in the upper ('Library') section of the Library Inspector (of smaller library)
2 - Set view to 'List View'
3 - Write down number of items displayed (listed at bottom of browser pane by default) and write down starting and ending image names
4 - Switch to larger library and set the selection and view the same as in #1 & #2 above respectively
5 - See if the  number of items and starting / ending image names match
6 - If not, you might think about adding the smaller library to the larger library (after backing up both)
Note - this would be considered one of the 'Merging Libraries' procedures, bottom item at linked page below:
    http://documentation.apple.com/en/aperture/usermanual/#chapter=3%26section=3
If the number of items and starting / ending image names in step #6 match what you wrote down in step #3, then you could simply back up the smaller library for safe-keeping and delete it if you wish.
Basically, you would need to determine whether the smaller library is already contained in the larger library, or whether it is in addition to the larger library due to HD failure and replacement. It would be typical for a technician to at least copy the old personal files to the new HD (although he / she should have told you if that was the case).
Message was edited by: CorkyO2 to add '(of smaller library)' to step #1.

My gmail account in Mail has worked fine for two months since I got my Macbook Pro. All of the sudden when I open mail and click on "Get Mail" next to the Gmail mailbox is a spinning circle. I have quit mail and opened it multiple times, checked the settings for the account to ensure they are correct and set up an additional gmail account (the same email and everything) to see what happened. The new account does the same spinning wheel. Any suggestions? This problem started out of thin air, I never changed any settings. PLEASE HELP!!!!
    Thank you.

I also cannot send mail. My .me account works just fine though, sending and receiving.

  • ICloud mailbox started to duplicate incoming POP mailbox

    Friends,
A few days ago and without any changes to my configurations (as near as I remember), my iCloud IMAP mailbox has started to duplicate incoming mail from my POP ISP's mailbox. The incoming mail IS sent to my POP address BUT it appears in my iCloud mailbox as well. When I delete the mail in the IMAP box (iCloud) it is deleted from ALL devices which share my iCloud account, but remains in the POP box. This occurs on my iPhone, iPad and my desktop Mac - all with the same account settings. This is not really a big issue but sometimes it is annoying to have to wade thru 2 copies of each email. Any ideas?
    Thanks & cheers,
    Sam
P.S. as an addendum I just noticed that my duplicate messages are downloaded seperately and do not seem to be being duplicated on the machines. A message that just arrive addressed to my ISP's POP box arrived first in the iCloud IMAP box and moment later another copy arrived in the correct POP box. Maybe my iCloud account is checking mail on my POP account from within the cloud before my machines get to check?
Message was edited by: sam b.

The only pattern I could establish was that emails after a certain date in one POP account only were all problematic (failed to move). When I rang the ISP who hosts that POP account they asked me to forward the full headers to see if there was any junk in the headers. They said sometimes that happens but they couldnb't find anything wrong with the headers. They said without a more specific error log they couldn't do anything.
It turns out they are finally offering IMAP on the server my account is hosted on and we switched from POP to IMAP which sorta helps, at least I have remote storage if I can recreate the folder structure on the IMPA account and have Mac Mail mirror it… I'm not too hopefully of that actually. Co-incidentally they added IMAP around the same time that I started getting this iCloud problem with emails on their account but they denie any assoication other than co-incidence and I couldn't estanblish exact chronological symetry anyhow.
My work around has been to host the folder “On My Mac” since I no longer need to share the folders b/w two Macs. I'll try to re-create in IMAP account like I said. If anyone has a way to get a more detailed error message from Mac Mail I'd be interested!

  • Get attached file outof incoming mail

    Hi,
I've created an interface (Mail2Rfc), in which file is attached to incoming mail message. my basic reference was /people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2005/12/18/xi-sender-mail-adapter--payloadswapbean--step-by-step which demonstrate how to implement getting attached file content via adaptor module.
    my issue:
the file name can be changed, therefore the file_name parameter (required by adaptor module) can not be hard coded.
how can i bypass the issue?
    Please advise,
    Uri

    Hi,
    10x for your replay.
    plz clarify:
what is the module configuration i have to use? which Parameters & Parameters Values?
    currently i'm useing:
    swap.keyName=Content-Disposition
    swap.keyName=Content-Description
    swap.keyValue=attachment;filename="MailAttachment-1.xml";
    swap.keyValue=MailAttachment-1
I tried to use keyName = payload-name instead of other keyName values, and interface was failing.

  • How to parse raw mail message into JavaMail MimeMessage?

    Hello developers,
I'm trying to implement the following functionality:
    * Postfix accepts incoming mail message and feeds it into java application
    * java application reads the input and parses it into JavaMail Message object
There is no trouble with first part, though, as far as I've seen, JavaMail is mostly used for creating messages part by part, sending them or checking existing mailboxes. Is there a way to read message on the fly without any sessions and connections to mailbox provider service, which I do not need?
    Thanks,
    Tomas Varaneckas

Don't see why not. I notice that almost everything in JavaMail that returns a Message object is a method of the Folder class, which is abstract. So you could write a subclass of Folder and have it return Message objects in whatever way you liked.
