Duplicate IP address detected in WCS

Hi to Cisco Support Community,
I would like to verify some questions regarding our network setup for wireless devices.
We have here in our client a 5508 WLC version 6.0.196.0 and WCS version 7.0.164.0 using windows platform.
My concern is that there is always a duplicate IP address detected by the WCS and when we trace the machine given its MAC address, we found out that the machine is a printer with a static IP of different IP address not the same to the management IP address of the WLC.
I have already disabled the port where the machine detected is terminated and still experiencing the same issue.
Is this a software bug or some sort of network issue? Please advice.
Thank you in advance!
Regards,
Joghson

Hi,
I have raised the issue with TAC and they told me that this is a software issue, we are currently making packet sniffs which is needed by the software developer. I will give you updates on this.
Thanks!

Does anyone have an issue like this ?

Are you sure this MAC address 58:b0:35:83:72:86 isn't some type of Apple device?  Its OUI is registered to apple.  How do clients get ip addresses DHCP?  It appears that the IP 10.184.1.224 is statically assigned to your ap-manager and that this client 58:b0:35:83:72:86 is either getting that same IP from DHCP or the client is statically assigning it themselves.

  • Nexus 5548 - %ARP-3-DUP_SRCIP_PROBE: Duplicate address Detected

    Hello.
Looking for some assistance on the following please, I'll try to include a lot of detail:
I noticed we're receiving repeating messages on a pair of Nexus 5548UP switches, regarding duplicate IP's, and the IP's in question are the mgmt0 of each respective Nexus switch; which are connected to each other and uplinked to two 3750X switches which are also linked to each other (not as a stack, with optics).
Here is a sample of the syslog message:  %ARP-3-DUP_SRCIP_PROBE:  arp [####]  Duplicate address Detected. Probe  packet received from zzzz.zzzz.zzzz on mgmt0 with destination set to our local ip, xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
And in ascii art, here is a diagram:  SW1&2 are 3750X (running 15.x code) and NX1&2 are Nexus 5548UP (running 6.x code)
    SW1---SW2
    |           |
    NX1---NX2
Pretty basic box/"ring", just in case the diagram doesn't format well, with rapid spanning-tree in effect.  The Nexus are Layer2 only, and the 3750X's are Layer 2 & 3 /w HSRP on a few SVI's in them.  All vlans can pass over the connecting trunks.  And on the Nexus, the management interface (mgmt0) is connected to 3750X (NX1 to SW1 and NX2 to SW2); e.g. management is done over this vrf interface, versus it flowing through a trunk interface to a SVI on the Nexus.
I know these messages to be erroneous as far an being actual duplicate IP's on the network, and have seen a few posts that indicate a command ("no ip arp gratuitous hsrp duplicate") typically referencing a Nexus 7000 setup has helped, but obviously as described that's not involved here.  Note: Placing that command on the mgmt0 interface of the two nexus had no positive effect.  The messages didn't start showing until after HSRP was enabled on the applicable 3750X SVI's - so seems a likely correlation.
Essentially looking to clear this up (ideally) or suppress the messages since they're false.  Any ideas?
    Thanks!

For those encountering this same issue, here is some information that may lead you to a resolve.
I decided to open a TAC case to get some direct assistance, and I was directed to the 3750X's and a new feature in the 15.x code, "ip device tracking".  I was directed to remove that without specific details / steps on how to best do it (e.g. "no ip device tracking" does not remove it from the global config, as of 15.2(1)E anyway and is the most current at the time of this posting), and that didn't take, giving the message: % IP device tracking is disabled at the interface level by removing the relevant configs.  However, after doing some research on the command, I can across some similar posts on 15.x code and duplicate IP messages.... Here's two posts I referenced:
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2244042
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2239656
I opted for the "no macro auto monitor" command in the 3750X's in global config, as mentioned in the above post(s) - This did stop the messages from occurring in the Nexus switches.  IMPORTANT NOTE:  I noticed that it did appear to bounce all the switch ports however, which could impact production - Be advised!
I cannot speak to if the interface level command 'nmsp attach suppress' is a better route to go, which is also referenced in the posts (first one primarily) - I went the other route to not have all the extra config line entries.  I have asked Cisco what the true impact of the "no macro auto monitor" command is, and am waiting a response - Ideally there's little to none, probably depending on if you want to make use of device tracking or not... in my case, I suspect I don't have a need for this and thus there's no impact - I shall see.
It would be ideal if code is released to disable this service / feature in the future more gracefully and/or code changes are done to remedy this issue so you can have the feature enabled (or not).  I akin this much like the "vstack" service that was introduced around 12.2(55/58)SE IOS that couldn't be disabled & left an open TCP port (not good for security scans), then with 12.2(58)SE2 they allowed it to be disabled (e.g. "no vstack" in global config).
Hopefully these details prove of value.
    Regards.
NOTE:  Since it doesn't seem you can"answer" your own posts, which seems silly; please note I consider this item resolved / answered.

  • DTP Error: Duplicate data record detected

    Hi experts,
I have a problem with loading data from DataSource to standart DSO.
In DS there are master data attr. which have a key  containing id_field.
In End routine I make some operations which multiple lines in result package and fill new date field - defined in DSO ( and also in result_package definition )
    I.E.
    Result_package before End routine:
    __ Id_field ____ attra1 ____  attr_b  ...___   attr_x ____ date_field
       ____1________ a1______ b1_________ x1
       ____2________ a2______ b2_________ x2
    Result_package after End routine:
    __ Id_field ____ attra1 ____  attr_b  ..___   attr_x ____ date_field
       ____1________ a1______ b1_________ x1______d1
       ____2________ a1______ b1_________ x1______d2
       ____3________ a2______ b2_________ x2______d1
       ____4________ a2______ b2_________ x2______d2
The  date_field (date type)  is in a key fields in DSO
When I execute DTP I have an error in section Update to DataStore Object: "Duplicate data record detected "
"During loading, there was a key violation. You tried to save more than one data record with the same semantic key."
As I know the result_package key contains all fields except fields type i, p, f.
In simulate mode (debuging) everything is correct and the status is green.
In DSO I have uncheched checkbox "Unique Data Records"
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.
    MG

    Hi,
In the end routine, try giving
DELETE ADJACENT DUPLICATES FROM RESULT_PACKAGE COMPARING  XXX  YYY.
Here XXX and YYY are keys so that you can eliminate the extra duplicate record.
Or you can even try giving
        SORT itab_XXX BY field1 field2  field3 ASCENDING.
        DELETE ADJACENT DUPLICATES FROM itab_XXX COMPARING field1 field2  field3.
this can be given before you loop your internal table (in case you are using internal table and loops)  itab_xxx is the internal table.
field1, field2 and field 3 may vary depending on your requirement.
By using the above lines, you can get rid of duplicates coming through the end routine.
    Regards
    Sunil

  • How to delete the duplicate email address in BP master data

    Hi,
When  you get an email ids from the third party vendor and you are loading into CRM BP master data.  how to delete the duplicate email address already exits in the system.  In CRM you can create the same BP with different id.   I would like to know how to delete the email address during importing email addresses from the third party tool.
During the campaign you are sending email to all your customers, when the customer want to unsubscibe the email address from your list, how to unsubcribe the email address and how to updat the BP master data.
If you are sending the email to customer, you are using html or simple text, if the customer wants only html or simple text, how you to specify in the system?
    thanks,
    arul

    Hello Arul,
welcome to the SDN CRM Development forum.
    1. I think you should clear the data with duplicate E-Mail adresses in the external tool.
    2. Unsubscription could be done by a Marketing Attribute which could be set by using a Target Group which is created by Campaign Automation. Have a look at this Toppic. There is also a Best Practice avaliable at http://help.sap.com/bp_crmv340/CRM_DE/index.htm.
    3. Also HTML or Simple text can be mained in a Marketing Attribute. You have to use different Mail Forms to which are sent to different Target groups.

  • TS1398 I used to be able to connect to this wifi. Now I am unable to do so because there is a duplicate IP address. This is there error it gives me. I tried everything in this article but nothing works. please help.

Everytime I try to connect, it gives me a message which reads http://www.apple.com Duplicate IP address: you must login with a different IP address". Help!

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
    And reboot the Wi-Fi router.

  • Duplicate IP address using Mirrored switch ports

    Hi All,
Here's a good one. We use Websence and have an agent installed on one of our T1 Netras in a routed subnet. To collect info from all the traffic in that subnet we mirrored the uplink port to the gateway. Thus all traffic on that port is mirrored to the Solaris 10 box. Shortly after mirroring we started receiving duplicate ip address errors.
Hardware address '00:03:XX:XX:XX:XX' trying to be our address XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX.
With further investigation we discovered that when we ping a host that exists no error is generated. Pinging an ip that is not there produces the errors!
It seems that an ARP request that is not answered is being bounced back through the mirrored port. When the box sees this it thinks that another box is trying to send out the ARP broadcast.
    With valid IP with snoop:
    SUN01 -> 192.XXX.XXX.4 ICMP Echo request (ID: 615 Sequence number: 0)
    192.XXX.XXX.4 -> (broadcast) ARP C Who is 192.XXX.XXX.10, SUN01 ?
    SUN01 -> 192.XXX.XXX.4 ARP R 192.XXX.XXX.10, SUN01 is 0:3:ba:27:2e:9d
    192.XXX.XXX.4 -> SUN01 ICMP Echo reply (ID: 615 Sequence number: 0)
    With invalid IP with snoop:
    SUN01 -> (broadcast) ARP C Who is 192.XXX.XXX.2, 192.XXX.XXX.2 ?
    SUN01 -> (broadcast) ARP C Who is 192.XXX.XXX.2, 192.XXX.XXX.2 ?
No i didn't copy and paste it twice!! :p
Since nothing responds the box assumes that the message came from someone else. Its like talking into a mirror thinking that the reflection is speaking for you so you stop and complain that his lips moved!!
When looking at the arp table we found only a hand full of entries. Since there are around a 10 nodes we should see more. We removed the publish flag for the host and the duplicate IP problem goes away. Fixed, sorta. when all the arp caches clear we might run into the issue of not being able to communicate with it.
The cache on the box quickly filled up with arp entries. Another note, we use this box as a DHCP/BootP relay. Not sure if this will be affected.
I guess a possible workaround would be to set up an ARP proxy for this box , but not sure it will still report that there is another box with the same IP on the network.
Any Help with this is appreciated.
    thank you

Sorry been on vacation the last couple of weeks...
I created this little script to fix the problem
    root@srelay01:/etc/rc2.d> more S05arpset
    #!/bin/sh
    arp -s srelay01 00:03:ba:27:2e:9d
if you find that you need to broadcast try using the -p switch with it on another box. The problem is gone and the system interacts on the network fine. I would still love to know why this happens.
    Good luck!

  • Can't remove duplicates in Address Book

Have lots of duplicates in Address Book since moving to iCloud. Went to Card>Look for Duplicate. It found a few and so merged them but there are still lots of identical cards that are not recognized as duplicates. Is there a simple, easy way to remove them? Otherwise, I may have to spend hours doing it manually.

If you click on File, and choose New Group, does the same thing happen?
What keyboard and mouse are you using?

  • How do i eliminate duplicates in address book/contacts across multiple devices?

i have old iMac G5,  iPhone4; recently added new iMac, iPad2, & Time Capsule, so i have multiple contacts & address books that i need to consolidate without having 3 duplicates of the same person every time i update? Please help?  Thank You!

Since upgrading to iPhone 4S and using iCloud, I have eliminated the duplicates in the address book, but not the calendar. Once all devices were setup for iCloud, I had duplicates in address book and contacts on my iPhone. So in settings on the iPhone for iCloud, I turned off calendar and address book. After a few minutes I turned those back on. Then, it synced with iCloud and no duplicates. At least in address book. The calendar continues to display duplicate appointments.
It's frustrating. Maybe all of us Apple users just don't know how to do this corectly. But it seems like a bug. Otherwise, why not address the confusion in the marketplace and post online training for how to sync all your devices without creating duplicates. Since that solution/training has never surfaced, I say this is a long standing bug in the system and Apple has never figured it out. It remains one of the few complaints I have about Apple. Wish they would get it right.

  • Windows 7 / 2008 duplicate static address when using 802.1x / MAB - ISE

    Hi all!
    ISE 1.1.3
    Cisco 3750 switches
    Windows XP / 7 / 2008 clients
I'm having some weird issues were if a client connects to a switchport and happens to be using a static IP address then the client warns of a duplicate address problem.  Also the client will then only show the default gateway within ipconfig even though the IP address / mask is still in the GUI network properties of the adaptor.  This is happening with Windows 7 and Windows 2008 devices.
Windows XP clients don't get the issue.
Some clients will use 802.1x native supplicant and some will be authenticated based on MAB.  Not noticed the problem with 802.1x clients but it always occurs on MAB.
I came across a similar issue here:
    http://networkingblog.vvlabs.com/2012/07/cisco-ise-duplicate-ip-address-windows-7.html
Going of that blog I tried using the "ip device tracking delay probe delay" command but the switches don't recognise the "delay" keyword.
The switches are 3750  switches running version 12.2(58)SE2.
All I have is  "count, interval, use-svi" as extra options.
Catalyst 4500 switch guide has  "delay" option but no "count, interval or use-svi".
The only way I have managed to avoid the problem is using the second solution which is a registry hack on each client.  This is fine for the odd server but not realistic when there will be hundreds of other clients.
    Any ideas?

    Hi
We are doing 802.1x for clients using the Windows supplicant.  For clients not using supplicants we are using MAB.  So the print servers and printers use MAB.

  • Hyper-V cluster validation report "Found duplicate physical address" on nic team interfaces.

I recently built a Windows 2012 Hyper-V cluster with 5 nodes. The validation report shows “duplicate physical address” error (error text pasted below).
The hardware: HP BladeSystem – servers are BL460c blades, in a c7000 enclosure, connected to HP Virtual Connect switches.
Each server has 2 physcal nics, teamed in Windows. In the NIC Teaming console, I created the following Team Interfaces and assigned each a VLAN ID:
    “Team1” (the default team)
    “Team1 - VLAN 204 – Management”
    “Team1 - VLAN 212 - 2012HB”
    “Team1 - VLAN 211 -Exchange DAG Replication”
I also created 2 HV Virtual Switches. Neither one allows management interface to share. They are assigned to “Team1” and “Team1 - VLAN 211 -Exchange DAG Replication” respectively.
Therefore, in Network Connection, I see the 2 physical Ethernet nics, and 4 “virtual” nics. Only 2 of them have IP addresses assigned: Management and HB. These are the two that the validation wizard complains
    about.
The MAC address is not configurable in the NIC Teaming console, so I don’t see a way to resolve this error, except to use separate physical nics. I don’t want to do that because a) I would lose the benefits of
the bandwidth aggregation that Virtual Connect provides, and b) When creating an Interface on a Team in Windows, it looks like it ALWAYS gives it the same MAC address, so that should be a supported configuration.
Everything works just fine, and there are no other errors or IP conflicts or anything else. But I really want to fix it because I don’t know what unknown problems this may be causing.
    From the Cluster Validation report:
Found duplicate physical address 10-60-4B-A9-4A-30 on node Cluster201.OurDomain.local adapter

    Hi Dan,
"It turns out that both hosts had the same default MAC address ranges for their virtual switches. Since the host vNICs were attached to the virtual switch on each host they received the first couple of MAC addresses from the switches.
For details please refer to following link:

  • Duplicate IP address

I am getting a duplicate IP address error message in system.log quite often. I've pasted it below. This is occurring on multiple Macs at the office. The address that is in the message is the address of the computer itself. It doesn't matter if the network is configured DHCP or manual. Still get the same message, with different IP addresses being report of course. From another machine I can ping 10.1.3.1 and the correct Mac responds. I disconnect the network to 10.1.3.1 and ping and there is no response. The network never goes down, which does happen when you really have duplicate IPs on the network.
The switch that we are connecting to is a Cisco 6509 with VLANs on it. The VLANs are separate and don't interact. The net mask for the network is class A.
Everything I have search for on the net says "you have another computer with the same IP" but I KNOW that is not the case.
    Anyone have any ideas?

The MAC address in the error message is the MAC address of the machine reporting the error. Normally that MAC address in the error message is the other machine on the network that is trying to use the same IP address.

  • Duplicate the Address book ?

How do I copy / duplicate my Address book that is on iCloud so I have a non cloud copy on my Mini or is there a method to sync both?
    Cheers

If you are using Outlook 2011, make sure you have the latest service pack and update.
Make sure your Mac Book and all devices have the latest update.
If the Calendar on the Mac Book is correct go to step 3
Assuming Mac Book Calendar is correct, remove accounts from iPhone, iPad.
Reconnect account to iPhone, iPad account.
All calendars should now be in sync.
There are times when the Mail, Calendar, Contact application has been corrupted (Outlook 2011, Mac Mail, Entourage, etc).  This will cause all kinda of issues on your devices.  You have to repair the mail client first.  In the case of Outlook you can delete the profile and recreate it.  In Mac Mail you can rebuild (from Tools on the menu bar)

  • WGM - Can't add computers due to duplicate MAC address

    Hello all,
I'm having a problem with 10.5.4 Server where once a computer is deleted from WGM it can't be added back. WGM gives an error message about duplicate MAC addresses. It appears that, although the deleted computer is no longer listed, the MAC address and name seem to still either be cached or in the database.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Saw you have no replies yet... did you ever get this issue figured out?
It's a shot in the dark, but years back we used to get zombie Macs (er, MACs) that would not show up in the list of computers, but were "still in the system" as a damaged record. Try enabling the "All Records" tab from the WGM prefs and searching for the computer record there, within the "Computers" list. If you can find them, deleting them should allow you to add them back in normally.
    Let us know. Cheers, Joel
