Duplicate LabVIEW vis are displayed

I have a LabVIEW vi whose front panel is duplicated when called from TestStand. I just want one front panel displayed.
What's causing this is related to the vi being:
i) reentrant,
ii) automatically repositions itself to either the right or lefthand of the screen display when called.
As well there's a button on the vi that's suppsed to allow a user to exit by pressing it, but it doesn't work.
How do I fix this?

I have tried this process thrice not able to solve this problem ......unchecking allow multiple ..i don t think matters as this is provisioning to org ...n what i am telling is the list from which u select the resources to be provisioned --that list shows duplicate resource object names at a time..Each time I import an xml the number of same resource object names being displayed in the list increases ...So If I have imported three workflows then (say Resorce Object AD) appears thrice in the list. I have not given the resource objects same name in all the workflows for this to happen

How can I close all open subVI front panels, without closing my top level VI front panel when all VIs are built into executables?

I'm using the code shown in the sample VI discussed here: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/353A696A3F393D9B86256E8B007A2912
to close all open VIs except my top level VI. My top level VI is actually a separate executable and the sub-VIs are their own executables. All reside under the same project. It works very well if I'm running in LabView but will not work when I build them. I added all the sub-VIs to the Always Include box in my top level VIs properties which did nothing. I also tried adding them to the Startup VIs box. This allowed me to close them all programmatically from the top level VI but it also open all the VIs at once (which was expected and not desired). I think the problem is the executables are not able to see outside their own memory space so the top-level VI never finds any other open front panels to close. Is this correct? Is there another way to go about doing this?

Where do I begin…..
I’m using a “server” to control 4 “client” PCs. My server opens references to 4 VIs on each client then executes them sequentially. So on a normal day, the server will run everything itself and I will have no contact with the clients. But on a several occasions, I’ve needed the ability to walk up to one of the clients and run just one of the 4 VIs.
We are updating from LabView 6.1 to 8.5 and we want to run executables rather than VIs for various reasons. I have a new VI running on the client PCs who’s only function is to initialize the shared variables and open/close the VIs. I initially thought of making the remaining 4 VIs sub-VIs but I will loose the ability to run them individually. I think I would also have to rewrite the VI running on the server since the 4 references it originally opened do not exist. I don’t think you can open a reference to a sub-VI on another PC. Can you???
As you can see, this is a huge mess. I’m still pretty new with LabView so any help you can provide would be great.

Communicating USB using Labview VISA

I have a USB RAW device that I am trying to communicate with using labview VISA. I have had success with setting up the driver and I am able to get information from the device such as serial number, etc. When I try to use the VISA read and write commands, I have no success getting the information I want. The commands are simple: R SP<CR><LF> is a read set point command. The only thing I do get back for every command I try, is a 2 byte message "01 60"hex.

What is the best way to organize LabVIEW VIs to be used with TestStand?

I'm using LabVIEW 8.6 with TestStand 4.1.1 and I'm trying to organize the VIs to later deploy them to a production PC. So, I organized them into a LV project and built a LLB with the "Source Distribution Tool". (Destination type: LLB)
Some VIs in the LLB use the "Call Library Function" (user32.dll) to simulate keyboard events. But, when any of these VIs is called from TS, LabVIEW is suddenly terminated. When these same VIs are not in the LLB and are called from TS they do not have any problem.
Is the LLB the best way to organize VIs to be used with TestStand? If so, What could I be doing wrong?

Hi Ray,
I really appreciate your intention to help, but I believe I solved the problem already. However I still have some questions.
The problem was that when I built the LLB the configuration of the "Call Library Function" changed. When the LLB is built it is also created a Support Directory named "data" that contains some dependencies including a new copy of the user32.dll. The "Library name or path" field in the "Call Library Function" changed to be linked to a new Dependency Path. ( ...\data\user32.dll.)
What I did was select "Specify path on diagram" and create a path-constant ("C:\WINDOWS\system32\user32.dll"), so the "Call Library Function" will be always linked to the original user32.dll.
I still don't know why the "Call Library Function doesn't work with the user32.dll copy in the New Dependency Path. And I'm not sure if the LLB is the best way to organize VIs to be used with TestStand.
Do you know why?

Logging data in a file using Labview VIs vs. Mathscript functions.

I'm working on a data logger at 200 Hz frequency. I wanted to log the data to a file after eace sample received. When I used (fopen,fprintf,....) on Mathscript, the Labview started to log the data at a slower rate. I then used the Labview file VIs and it is working fine up till now.
My questions are as follows:
1- Are the file functions in the Mathscript slower than the Labview VIs ?
2- Is saving the data to a file after each sample is received a good idea or is there a better idea ? I just don't want to keep the data in the memory and after all the data is logged, I flush them to a file ... because, it seems that the PC will run out of memory.

Yes. That's because you're going through another layer of software. Why were you trying to use MathScript to log data to file in the first place? Are you a Matlab "aficionado"?

It doesn't make sense to save data after each sample. File I/O is an expensive operation in terms of time, and you have the operating system to deal with, so while you may be able to keep up the rate for some time, eventually it will be thrown off. You can do as suggested which is to wait until you have a certain amount and then write that to file, or you can set up a producer-consumer or master-slave architecture. Let one process/loop collect the data and put into a buffer, like a queue, and the other process/loop can stream it to disk at a more reasonable rate. You just have to make sure the buffer is large enough so that if the file I/O gets hung up you won't reach the buffer's limit.

Using HTTPS and SSH from LabVIEW VIs

I am currently using custom VIs, built over the TCP/IP LabVIEW VIs, to access to a distant machine with the TELNET protocol, and to access a HTTP server with the HTTP protocol.
In a near future, I will have to use more secure protocols such as SSH and HTTPS, that my VIs will no longer support.
Does the NI Internet toolkit support SSH and HTTPS?
And if it doesn't, what are the solutions?
Using PuTTY with a command line for SSH is suggested by NI and I have already tested this successfully.
Have someone other solutions and an idea for using HTTPS?
I'm currently using LV 6.1.

Where can I find example LabVIEW VIs for the NI-USRP?

There are several sources of example LabVIEW VIs for the NI USRP:
We have established a NI Community "NI USRP Example LabVIEW VIs" where you can find example VIs from us (NI) and the community.
The NI-USRP driver installs a variety of example VIs to the to the following folder on your PC:
<LabVIEW Installation path>\examples\instr\niUSRP
where you should replace <LabVIEW Installation path> with the root folder of your local LabVIEW installation. For instance, my Windows 7 32-bit PC here has LabVIEW 2011 installed and the examples can be found here: C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2011\examples\instr\niUSRP
I've installed the NI-USRP driver, but I can't seem to find the new examples in the LabVIEW Example Finder. Where are the example LabVIEW VIs installed by the NI-USRP driver?
Although the NI-USRP driver does indeed install examples, the current NI-USRP 1.1 release does not update the LabVIEW Example Finder with entries for these examples. To find the examples, you can navigate the Windows Start Menu to the following location:
Start Menu\Programs\National Instruments\NI-USRP\Examples
This Start Menu entry includes several Shortcuts that point to folders that are the home to example VIs.

It looks like Agilent/HP makes the 8990A, but I was not able to find a driver for it that we or Agilent has written for this device.
Since I am not familiar with the 8990A, I cannot recommend which drivers might be similar, but you are pointed in the right direction. Agilent themselves might know more about which models use similar command sets so that you can modify a driver easily.

How to synchronize several compiled LabVIEW VIs with trigger?

- We have a timer (LabVIEW-VI).
- We also have several different other files who should listen to the timer.
Triggering with notifications wont work because copilation gives an own thread for each app. Notifications work only in the same thread...
Triggering with a global doesnt work also!
Seems to be the same problem...
Someone have an idea how to send a trigger from one compiled VI to another?
(We dont want to communicate over a file by the way.. )

I'm assuming that you're talking about built applications (.exe files) since all VIs are compiled. To communicate between applications, you can use ActiveX, TCP/IP, or datasocket. Datasocket might be the easiest. Set the time program to be a datasocket writer and have a datasocket read in the other programs.

Y/t - graphic: discrete values are displayed continuously

Whenever I want to display discrete values in a y/t - graphic, they are displayed continuously (adjacent function values are connected)
See for example:
The lower graphic should show the following discrete function:

But as you can see, adjacent function values are connected. I couldn't find out, how I can change that. Hope someone can helb me!

I have an iphone 6 with the most recent iOS. iTunes Match is on. Music app only showing songs purchased on iTunes and no playlists are displayed. Just happened when updating iTunes Match. Solutons?

I have an iPhone 6 with 64 GB of memory. I have iTunes Match turned on my account and on the phone. Suddenly, the Music app is only displaying music purchased directly from iTunes and no playlists are displayed. This occurred after updating iTunes Match on my PC; when new music did not appear, I turned off iTunes Match off/on the PC then did the same on iPhone 6. It looks like iTunes Match is trying to do a full download to the phone but it never completes. Ideas?

Certainly! The Windows API Function Utilities (32-bit) for LabVIEW includes set of LabVIEW libraries (llb) with VIs that make calls to the Windows Application Programming Interface (API) for managing and controlling windows (minimize, maximize, move, resize, rename, close, and so on) including task list with names of windows application running. The Readme.doc contains information on running these VIs.
Attached below is a zipped file with a VI that list the names of all opened windows.

In landscape mode, the mailbox list is automatically displayed (in portrait mode, you will need to tap the button to,show it).

Not all users are displayed for log on after a reboot or startup...

Problem summary: Not all users are displayed for log on after a reboot or startup...
This problem only occurs after a fresh start-up or restart. The only users displayed are the initial (admin user) and "Guest". Two other (non-admin) users are not shown for log on.
To work around this problem and get them to log on we have to log on as the admin user, then we can see the other users in the Fast User Switching menu (top right-hand corner of the screen), listed under the current logged on user. After selecting the non-admin user we can log in and use the laptop as normal.
If we lock the screen, use fast user switching or log out all users; all users are available for log in, until a reboot is done; at which point the non-admin users disappear again and we have to log in as the admin user and use fast user switching again.
The laptops are both brand new MacBook Airs. The initial configuration of Mac OS X Yosemite was done using the Apple ID of the purchaser (parent) and then the OS was patched, immediately, through the App store (no further updates available as of the date of this posting). After this Family Sharing was activated and new users set up for the two children who will be using these laptops.
Has anybody else experienced this problem with Yosemite?

Users not enabled for FileVault unlock are only able to log into the computer after an unlock-enabled user has started or unlocked the drive. Once unlocked, the drive remains unlocked and available to all users, until the computer is restarted.
FileVault has to be On.
To Enable the users to be able to unlock FileVault Go to:
System Preferences > Security & Privacy > FileVault ( Tab ) > Click the Lock in the bottom left > Put in your administrator password > Should see an option to Enable Users > Enable User.
