Duplicate Library from Conversion of MP3 Files?

OK, so I converted all of my MP3 music files over into I Tunes to the MP4 or whatever format; Does that mean that I can delete all of the huge files of MP3 music on my hard drive? Or do I need to keep those files for I Tunes to reference back to?

Did you import your files into iTunes first and then convert them? If you used iTunes to convert the files then you now have two copies of everything in your library. Converting creates a second copy of the song in the format you have chosen which gives you the opportunity to either keep or delete the original. Is there any particular reason that you converted your MP3 to AAC, iTunes can use either. Converting from one lossy format to another can result in further quality loss. It's a bit like photocopying a photocopy, the farther you get away from the original the lower the quality.

How do you remove duplicate images from your all images file on your mac desktop?

    Don't under any circumstances.
All images is not a file. It's not a place. It's a list. Specifically, it's the result of an instruction: List all the images on my machine.
When you delete something from All Images, then you have no idea what you're removing from where - files that are part of word processing docs, interface elements, corrupting your iPhoto Library. There are many perfectly legitimate reasons why you might have what appears to be duplicates but are not.
Rule number One: Never delete anything on your machine whose job you don't understand.

  • How do I extract album art from an existing MP3 file?

I have a folder of MP3s that all came from a rare out-of-print album. The album is so rare, I can't find an image of it anywhere on Google in any countries. I lost the cover artwork for the album, but it's embedded in the MP3 file because it pops up when I play the song or in the preview window. Fine good-resolution picture, too.
How do I extract the image so I have a separate image file again?
...hopefully without buying new software to do it?

  • Noobie question.. linking from thumbnails and mp3 files

There are essentially 2 different things I want to do. I'm
building a website for a rock band and need help here.
    1. I have a media page with image files. I'm laying out like
9 thumbnails. I'd like to set it up so that when you click on it,
it links to a separate page with the image. Pretty web standard
stuff.. I just don't know how to do it.
    2. Similar thing with mp3 files. The discography page will
have a list of songs for their new album. They want to be able to
link a few of their mp3 files on it so that when you click on them,
it automatically links to a page with just the mp3 playing.
How do I go about this?

A normal hyperlink to the mp3 file will cause the system to
    open the
required player, on those systems where the required player
    is installed.

  • Converting Library from lossless to mp3 need help

I have uploaded my whole library in apple lossless format.
It took up too much space so I converted the whole library to mp3 vbr @192k. The only problem is that I lost all of my lossless files? Can anyone give me advice on keeping two libraries...One lossless and one for the ipod.

    Hi Ed,
Normally, when you convert a track in your library it doesn't delete the old one. There is even a function within iTunes for deleting these duplicates. But why would you want to keep a separate library for lossless? You have the CDs, right?
I suppose you could set your iTunes Preferences->Advanced->"iTunes Music folder location" to some other directory and create a lossless library there. Then change it back to the normal directory and create your version w/AAC 192. This will use a lot of disk space.
    Good luck!

  • Duplicate images = duplicate library from restore?

I'm very confused. Because of issues in A3, I restored back to A2 and rebuilt, actually restored a couple of times, etc, then REMOVED (I thought) all of my libraries from A3 access so that I could do a clean A3 install and upgrade. (My A2 library was temporarily in the TRASH, and my current A3 library was relocated to a desktop folder, as suggested on another troublshooting thread here).
So, I opened up A3 after this install, and there were all my photos again, and some doubled. Where would A3 have accessed my photos from if they were in the trash and another folder? I was expecting to direct A3 to the folder myself on this "clean install. So now, I'm thinking my huge library is doubled up in here somewhere, and how do I find duplicates from my restores and delete them?

Might be better to start with the clean and empty library you intended to begin with. If you want to recover your library rather than reconstruct one, do you have a good Aperture Vault or backup you trust to do the recovery?
Not sure where Aperture is finding eveything by what you describe, however you might quit Aperture and search for all your current locations of the Aperture Library and rename each one to be more descriptive (at least temporarily). For example, rename various files as appropriate to make each unique, such as *Aperture 2 Library OLD*, *Aperture 3 Library OLD*, etc.
Within Aperture 3, you can create a new *Aperture 3 Library* using the File -> Switch to Library command. That panel will display all the Aperture libraries you have, but you may want to create a new empty library and them Import as appropriate.
Post if I’m not clearly stating this...

  • Problem extracting image from metadata of MP3 file

I am having a problem with MP3 metadata.
I am running the example AudioPlayer2 from Chapter 8 from Pro JavaFX 2: A Definitive Guide to Rich Clients with Java Technology .
The problem that i am having is that the image is not displayed for some of the files i try to play, but others work fine.
All the MP3's play fine and display other metadata tags.
I am using Tag Renamer to set my MP3 tags.
The only change to the example code is to line 128, I change the url to a file.
Has anybody else run into this problem and if so Help.
    Thank You

...my problem is that I've created a little GUI in Eclipse and in addition to having a src folder which contains the following packages GUI and Core, I then have a folder called cards which contains 52 card images and a background images, now when I run the application from Eclipse all is well and my images show, but when I create a JAR file and try to run the GUI that way none of the images are showing for some reason and was hoping someone could please tell me is this some to do with the paths etc and how to fix ...>This is virtually an FAQ.
The String based constructor for an ImageIcon presumes the String is the path & name of a File.
Your IDE is most likely making a Jar file containing all classes and resources, so the only way to access those resources is via URL.
To obtain an URL to an image in a Jar on the application's runtime classpath, do the following..
    URL iconUrl = Thread.
      currentThread().
      getContextClassLoader().
      getResource("Cards/table.jpg");
    final ImageIcon icon = new ImageIcon(iconUrl);

  • Duplicate Library Entries Point to Same File

    Hello,
Anyone out there have multiple entries in their main library that point to the exact same physical file? I have a few instances of this and it is little more than any annoyance. It does not appear to sync the same file multiple times to my ipod.
The one difference between the two references is that the directory separator on one of the locations uses all "\"'s whereas the other file has one "/" at the last parent directory.
It is quirky as is iTunes in general. Any feedback is appreciated.
    -d

I had something similar, but not exactly. Some of the files showed up twice -- one path was the "long" path (say F:\mp3\Metallica\song file.mp3), and one was the "short" path (F:\mp3\METALL~1\SONGFI~1.mp3). But this only happened because I added my Music folder (F:\mp3) to iTunes again, even though most of the songs were already there. Obviously in most cases it worked fine.
Fortunately for me there were only a few like this, so I just removed them manually.

  • Importing library from iphoto loses referenced file

I've imported large libraries from iphoto and when i bring them into aperture, there's always a yellow triangle at the bottom and when i open the photo it says "referenced file not found"
It looks like the iphoto library has been copied into the aperture library judging by the size of things, but the photos all seem to be only thumbnails when i try to view them any larger.
Is this a bug or is there a workaround?

Best suggestion: Buy some external USB or Firewire drives. Move your Library to one, back it up to another. A lot more reliable than DVD, a lot less work and much more convenient. For a start, you don't have to break up the library...

  • Open library from AFP share - Unsupported File System - Aperture 3

Testing Aperture 3 - Exported a project as a library to an AFP (10.5) share.
I then tried to reopen the library and got an error Unsupported File System ?
Is there possibly a network file system that will support Aperture 3 libraries ?

Temp solution in this thread - tested it and it works
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2330306&tstart=30
I have found an workaround for this issue. Do the following:
    First, upgrade the library to version 3 using Aperture on the computer where you have the disk containing the library; if this is not possible, copy the library on the computer running Aperture and do the update there, then copy the updated library back;
Then navigate to the network disk where you have the updated library and double-click it: a dialog box will come out saying something like <There was an error opening the database for the library "/Volumes/Media/Pictures/Aperture Library.aplibrary". The library could not be opened because the file system of the library's volume is unsupported> Click OK.
A new dialog box will appear asking "Which library do you want Aperture to use?" and a list with all libraries; among them, the library situated on the network disk. Select it and click "Choose".
Voila, after a delay depending on the speed of your network and remote disk, the library will open.
Note that this "show" will repeat each time you will start-up Aperture. Anyway, it's better than nothing. I hope that Apple will correct this soon.
And yes, I am using the Trial Version, I will buy a license only after Apple solves this issue! "

  • How do I create a shared library from iPhoto when the file is too large to burn on DVD?

I  need to remove some photos (70 GB) to relieve a full hard drive.  I have exported and burned .jpg images on DVDs, but that is only useful as a worst case backup.  What I would like to have is a separate iPhoto Library for each calendar year of photos, so I could still view them in the albums and folders I have created to organize them.  I have done this before in an earlier version of iPhoto, and was able to create 2003 iPhoto Library, 2004 iPhoto Library, etc.  I put a copy on DVD (the full year fit on 1 DVD) and another copy on an external drive.
I am having problems doing this with iPhoto '09 (version 8.1.2).  The iPhoto library for each year is too large to burn on DVD.  When I select certain albums from the year that will fit on DVD and use the Share>Burn commands, it creates a library with Events and Faces, but none of the albums are listed on the left.  The albums are important to organize the photos for viewing (birthdays, vacations, holidays, etc.)  I didn't always pay attention to labeling Events when I imported photos, so that is not an adequate alternative to my albums.
I was thinking that if I could create a library for the entire year, it might include my albums and folders. I would have space for this on my external hard drive.  However, I can find no way to create a library for the entire year and put it on my external drive - the only option is to burn a DVD or export .jpg images.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • How do I transfer song info in iTunes Library back to mp3 files?

    1. some info of my songs in my itunes library is different from the info stored in the respective mp3 files
    2. I want the song info in the itunes library to be preserved
    3. but when I play a song in iTunes, iTunes would automatically obtain song info from the mp3 file and update iTunes Library.
    4. And I have many files like that
Quesiton: Is there a way I could transfer the song info in my itunes library back into the mp3 files?
thanks a lot if anyone has any idea!!

The album, artist, etc information displayed in the iTunes library comes from the ID3 tags in the MP3 song files. If you change it in iTunes (using Get Info), iTunes updates the file. iTunes does not automatically change it.
There may be other programs running that are changing it, e.g. the automatic setting in Windows Media Player.

  • Obtain ID-tag from m4a, m4p, mp3, ... file bought on iTunes Music Store

How can i obtain ID-tag (... and an unique ID?) from m4a, m4p, mp3 file bought on iTunes Music Store?
I need to build C/C++ application to make this.
    Best regards.

Burn them to an audio CD then re-import them. This strips off the restrictions and protections rendering them like any other CD music you import. And then you can store the CDRs away as a backup of your purchase.
