Duplicate mailing lists with opt-in status.

I'm looking for the best way to duplicate a mailing list which would include the current subscriber's opt-in status? My main concern is making sure any customer who has opted out of the current subs list is not opted in to the duplicate list/s.

Hi,
The import file for mailing lists only activates the opt-in for New entities. Already existent entities/contacts will not have their opt in status modified via import.
Kind Regards,
Alex

  • Problem creating mailing list with Server Console

    Hi,
when I create a new mailing list, I do the following:
    1. Right click on groups folder in Console
    2. Choose New->Group
    3. Entering all data and checking "Mail Account" under Account
The documentation sais, that a Mail-tab should now appear. But this is not the case for me!?
I can only create the group like this and have to add the attribute "mail" - to enter an email address - manually..
Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong or missing something? Also disallowing posting on this group can only be set manually. Shouldnt all this be done using a nice GUI dialog?
I'm using Directory Server 5.2 Patch 2. Also tried 5.2 Patch 4. Both same problem.
    Thanks in advance

got the instructions from the "Sun Java System Messaging Server 6 2005Q4 Administration Guide", chapter "Managing Mail Users and Mailing Lists with the Console Interface"-"Managing Mailing Lists":
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-2650/6n4u4du0e?q=messaging+server&s=t&a=view
Step 6 sais: "Click the Mail Account box. -> The Mail tab becomes visible in the Create Group window."
    Thanks,

    Problem with Thunderbird email:
When I send email using a mailing list, with my email included in the list, the message shows up in my Sent list and others receive it but it does not come to my email Inbox. The same problem occurs when I send the email to the mailing list addresses individually. When I send a simple test message to myself, I do receive it in my Inbox. Can you help me??

Are you using either cc or bcc? Is googlemail involved? Some email providers suppress cc's and bcc's to oneself since you will have a copy in your Sent folder.

  • I am trying to integrate my mailing list with a custom form to create an e ticket for my membership

I am trying to integrate my mailing list with a custom form, in order to create an E ticket for my membership.
Is there a way of doing this with the Adobe Custom Forms? Thank you NAK

Integration of a mailing list is not a supported function of Formscentral. Additionally it might be difficult to authenticate and properly transmit e-tickets to your groups using Formscentral alone. For this type of transaction workflow I would suggest you look to our Livecycle product for a solution.

  • Optimizing Mailing Lists with Direct LDAP

    Hey all,
I've noticed performance issues with iMS 5.2p1 (with iDS 5.1) with respect to direct LDAP look up's, especially for large mailing lists. Even a 28 user list takes 10 minutes, where as with MS 4.1.5 it was practaically instance. We also have a dynamic group with everyone (4000 people or so) and it simply pegs the LDAP server @100% CPU and sits there for a day. It seems that there are a ton of ways to optimize the caches and LDAP lookups. Where should I start or what should I do? What settings should I look to fix on the LDAP server, IMTA, etc. to speed things up?
    Thanks!
    Chris

This was an LDAP server optimization issue. I increased the memory for both the slapd cache and the database cache. I then added indexes for all the common items search for by the IMTA. I was watching the slapd access logs and saw that the IMTA searchs for a lot of imortant items that are not indexed by default. I added indexes for:
    inetUserStatus
    mailUserStatus
    inetMailGroupStatus
    mailEquivalentAddress
    mailRoutingAddress
    mailMsgMaxBlocks
    mailQuota
    mailMsgQuota
    mailProgramDeliveryInfo
    mailDeliveryFileURL
    maildeliveryfile
    mailConversionTag
    mailDeliveryOption
    vacationStartDate
    vacationEndDate
    mailForwardingAddress
    memberURL
    rfc822mailmember
    mailAccessDomain
    mailMessageStore
    preferredLanguage
    mailAllowedServiceAccess
Now a message to everyone that took 24 hours and never went through takes just over a minute to get to 4000 users on my little test server. Smaller dynamic lists are even faster. General performance of message delivery is also faster, as is SMTP response from the client prespective.

  • Wiki Mailing list with no content

It is still unresolved. If I create a wiki with a mailing list, and anyone sends an email to the list with any html content the email doesn't have any content if you want to see it in the wiki. Although all the persons receive the mail correctly in their computer
    Any solution? please

    Hi,
I am having same issue over multiple wikis and group mail lists as you have described. So far I am only looking up solutions on this community, and I do see you have have made multiple posts.
One thing I seem to find is it is without rhyme or reason, and that messages from US EN only, goes thru easy, while if sent from my Macmail (JPN), it gets stuck.
Attachments like a photo has gone thru so it is not attachments, but rather encoding.
    Size does not matter.
Simple text by default works very well if EN.
I was wondering if enabling more languages might help.
I will do more testing to find out.
    Pleased to hear.

  • Duplicate Podcast Listing with the same feed

I run the boagworld.com podcast and for ages I have had the problem of my show appearing twice in the listings.
Essentially the two shows are identical. They even share the same feed. The only difference between the two is a parameter at the end of the podcasts urls...
    http://feeds.feedburner.com/boagworldpodcast
    http://feeds.feedburner.com/boagworldpodcast/?i=2
Obviously I want to remove the duplicate because it is causing confusion. However, I cannot add the normal block tag because they both share the same feed and that would remove both.
I have written to Apple and requested that one be removed but have got no response.
    Any ideas?

It does turn up twice in the Search results but subscribing from either results in it using the same feed, the one without the addition on the end.
Both URLs open the feed; the only thing I can suggest is that you remove the access to the feed through the longer URL, though as I don't know how you've managed to achieve that I can't advise how. This may eventually remove it from the Search results, though it may take some time. As both instances actually appear to be using the same URL I don't see any other way of dealing with it, since the normal processes will affect both appearances and would remove the show entirely.

  • Thunderbird mailing list cuts off some addresses

I have a relatively small mailing list of 13 addressees in my address book. When used in an e-mail, only the first 7 or 10 (different attempts produced different results with same list) addressees on the list get listed in the To: - area of the sent message. I broke the list into two halves and was able to send an e-mail to all 13 people that way so it is not an e-mail provider issue.
The way Thunderbird does not show an expanded list of addressees from a list until after a message is sent makes troubleshooting the problem far more bothersome to my recipients.

H_Smith, [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Thunderbird_:_FAQs_:_Create_Mailing_List this article] contains some tips and tricks for using mailing lists with Thunderbird. Did you already have a look there? One of the add-ons might help you out.
Please let me know if that is helpful or if these don't resolve the issue.

  • Mailing list set-up in OS X Server.

    Dear members:
I have been looking at different options for setting up a few mailing list groups. One of the best options I have found in terms of functionality and features is Listserv software but it is very expensive and is only available in a Unix version (no OS X available) which would require me to install it using terminal.
Two other options are DirectMail and OS X Server. According to the info page on Apple's web site setting up a mailing list in OS X Snow Leopard Server is a fairly simple thing to do. At least that is what they say.
According to your experiences how simple is it to set up a few mailing lists in OS X ? Please consider that I am an advanced user but without any advanced training in networking or programming.
    Thank you in advance,
    JRC

    ~ Joseph ~
i have now resolved all my issues with the mail list functions on SL... and i am pretty confused as to why it is done like it is now. done... BUT... there are now TWO ways of creating lists in SL 10.6
1, the mailman way, which is a proper mail list server and can be relied on and has sensible mail handling and bounce control and aparantly no longer linked to workgroup manager or OD
2, the apple-wiki tool which uses a postfix alias populated with a group membership on creation.
SO... if you need a group that is linked to a OD group and you do not mind the complete lack of management and the fact that the mailing list will be called [email protected] then use mailing lists linked to wiki...
    OR
Use mailman... 10.6 has now removed the link between groups and mailman lists.. and you will soon loose the workgroup manager control (that no longer works) for integration with mailman lists... if you use mailman you have an industrial strength mailing list tool that you can sync with various other DB sources (inc LDAP) and has sensible bounce and mail handling...
it took me a while yesterday to finally realise what has really changed and what i need to do to work as normal.
My plan is to create a group in workgroup manager called "Mailing Lists" and then with a perl script interrogate OD for groups that are in my "Master mailing list group" and then sync the OD group user list emails with the list of the same name (as any group in the OD group "mailing lists") in MailMan.... which will give me OD managed group mailing lists again and also give me [email protected] for my list name...
i object to have to call a mailing list with a "-wiki" extension to the name, and i would like to automatically have people added to mailing lists when they are put in groups...
i am still working on all of this and i hope my findings are of some help.

  • Mailing List I made up disappeared from the address book after I got out of the address book.

I made up a mailing list with all my families emails in it. I got out of the address book and when I went into it again later, the mailing list I just made up was not there.

    fiddledum,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
I would recommend that you check out Font Management in Mac OS X Tiger and Panther, by Kurt Lang.
Another possibility is to Quit Address Book, find the com.apple.AddressBook.plist in the ~Library/Preferences Folder. Drag it to the Desktop, and log out/in or restart.
Attempting to install a newer version as you have discovered will not work.
    ;~)

  • Creating new mailing list.

CRM import the file - 600 new adresses (it's a txt/tab file made with Excel/Mac) but BC do not visualize the new mailing list, so I cannot make any further choice for campaigns. Other question: can I create email list fron CRM and how can I change option filters to create new list. Can someone help? New to BC. Thanks

Dear Liam, it's just I am new to BC. I first had problems to create mailing list importing .csv files, then turned to txt file.
Had no problems with 50 address txt file, meaning BC showed me that list with those 50 custumers included.
But when the list is about 600 addresses, BC does not show the list I have created as a new mailing list with its name.
I dont know why. The CRM add those 600 new addresses, but there is no mailing list connected to those 600.
So I have a great CRM now, but cannot choose those among them I want to send email campaigns to. For instance:
all company working in the same town (which was the title of the email list I should have created, that indeed BC dont show me).
Am I doing something wrong with saving correctly the .csv or txt file? I started from the basic Excell templates given by BC.
Is there a fast way to erase my CRM, in order to rebuild it with mailing list criteria?
    Much confused, as you see.
Please try help me. And thank you very much for first answer. Waiting.

  • Send Sharepoint list items in Office365 Outlook to external mailing list

    Hello everyone
I'd like to be able to send a 'weekly update' mail to a mailing list with external email addresses from within Office365 Outlook. The mail should consist of list items (conditional, not exceeding a certain date in history) coming from a Sharepoint (in Office365)
teamsite. So these should be 'exported' from Sharepoint to a new Office365 Outlook message (and f.e. be temporarely saved as a draft). It'd also be nice if we could add extra text and/or images to the new message before it's being sent.
A second question: is it possible to send a mail to all Office365 users who have access to a certain subsite whenever something on that subsite is created? F.e. a new document is uploaded, a new Discussion is launched, ... Some sort of automatic notification
system once something on the subsite is created. It is imperative that users don't have to set these automatic notifications (or alerts) manually but they're being done for everyone, even if it's a new account.
    Regards
    Robin

    Hi Robin,
Workflow is associated with single item, and changes made to a item will trigger your workflow, hence selecting multiple list and activating the workflow would be a challenge.
Pre SharePoint 2013 we had big challenge in looping through the entire list items which was one of the most sought after feature in workflow. However, SP 2013 offers a way to loop through the items now.
I think you can leverage this to get your workflow done.
Here are some references to start with -

  • Mailing lists were working just perfect, but........ ! :(

    Helloes all,
I have been using mailing lists with ims5.2, that are defined using a dynamic ldap query,
    ldap:///dc=ju,dc=edu,dc=jo??sub?(&(|(objectclass=person)(objectclass=groupofuniquenames))(cn=*))
for the last 6 months, with no problems! but suddenly this morning, all emails sent to this emailing list return with delivery error:
Your message cannot be delivered to the following recipients:
    Recipient address: [email protected]
    Reason: no addressees: [email protected]
the only difference in these days that the number of users is increasing dramatically! i don't know if this is related to number of users in the ldap query!
    can u please help!

iMS 5.2, with iDS 5.1 and direct ldap mode,
the ldap query is to return all the users in the directory, now total to 1233 user,
here are the tests that i made:
1- From the iMs serach perfom a search on all users, and it will retreive all entries successfully and so fast.
2- on the mail list properties from iMS server, members tab, contruct a dynamic ldap query, with cn contains *, and it retrieves all acount successfully.
3- on the mail list properties from iMS server, the email only members, contstruct the same ldap query as in 2, but when i tend to test it, it takes so much time, my count is 80 seconds, and retrieves only first entry, and when i tend to send an email to this list, i get the no addresses error failure delivery.
4-on iDS 5.1 search, advanced i contructed the same search with cn contains *, and it retrieves all entries successfully.
and another problem that has appeared today, i don't know if it related, i used to connect to my ldap iDS server through outlook express and microsoft outlook, defining the ldap, and base search ..etc, and it used to go smoothly, but it is not working anymore too,
I did something last week, but on another machine, i have installed sunone application server, and identity server and connected to the existing sunone directory server ( the one with problems now), and finally installed the portal server, all those were installed on a different server,
    i am puzzeled!??!!!

  • Suggestion for mailing list software.

    Dear members:
I have been looking for a good application for mailing lists. I wish to create a few internet discussion groups and would like to have them set-up as mailing lists with posts distributed to all members in the form of e-mails.
So far the only I've found that seems up-to-date and reasonably powerful is Listserv from L-Soft (www.lsoft.com). This one, however, is rather expensive (really expensive), requires installation to be done using the terminal with Unix commands (which I don't master) and does not offer a Mac GUI (the program is controlled and maintained using a browser).
I am interested in an application that uses the familiar mac interface (GUI) and can be both installed and run using as a typical mac application. Also I would like to find something that is reasonably priced.
Would anyone be able to offer suggestions on what may be a good application for this purpose ?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance,
    Joseph Chamberlain

    Hi, Tom.
Please forgive me for the delayed response to your post and thank you for giving me some suggestions.
I looked at the page you referenced on your post and found that the only three list server applications listed don't really offer the features I am looking for.
Letterrip hasn't been developed since early 2006 which means it is quite likely that it would not run properly under the latest version of OS X.
Macjordomo is in the same category of outdated software. The latest version available runs on OS X but the entire interface has that OS 9 classic design as something that hasn't been really updated in a long time. As I tried to run it all it did was to keep crashing. The GUI is also deficient and not you typical Mac application user interface.
Last but not least Mailman seems to be one of the strongest one of the group and I had heard of it before. The only problem I have found is its lack of a Mac front end user interface that follows the typical Mac guidelines. I don't have any type of experience with Unix and would not be able to install any applications that require interaction with the Terminal.
As popular as the Mac is today I find it difficult to believe that there isn't at least one good list server application in the market today. I probably haven't found it yet but I am hoping that one exists so that I can find it.
Please let me know if you have any other ideas or suggestions.
    Thanks again for your help,
    Joseph
