Duplicate member in ASO application

Hi,
I need to load data in an ASO application (version 11.1.2.1). Provision for duplicate members is enabled for this application and so, some of the members across dimensions have duplicate members. But during data loading, Essbase is throwing error on duplicate members and data is not loaded. Similarly, in Smart View, query is not accepted if duplicate members are selected.
Please advise if there is any work around to load data for duplicate members.
Thanks.

Hi,
one basic things is duplicate members / member aliases are not allowed within same parent.
Make sure your application is enabled for duplicates and try to create some duplicates manually and then send data through some add-in, etc. For data loads, have you tried to load them using qualifiers ?
Refer the below link for working on duplicates

  • Allow duplicate member names in Essbase application

    Hi,
I have checked "Allow Duplicate Members" for my ASO application (system 11.1.2.1.00). By doing this, I can create members of same name across dimensions. But alias names can't still be duplicated. Is there anyway to use same alias names for multiple members may be in same dimension or in different dimensions?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
There are lot many times this was discussed in forum, you can do a search on it.
You can also refer below link which explains about working with duplicates

  • Duplicate member names allowed dimension build

I have turned on allow duplicate members in a current ASO essbase cube to test how much rework this will require to allow duplicate aliases.  After I switched the property on, I was recieving errors when attempting to associate an attribute to a dimension through a dimension build rule.  I realized that I needed to use qualified member names in the load file.  Here is an example of the file in Parent  Child  AttributeValue format
    [Domestic-PD].[Test_Comm-PD]     [Test_Comm-PD].[0001-PD]      [Test_Attr-MD].[Test1-MD]
So I want to associate the attribue Test1-MD to product 0001-PD below.
    Domestic-PD
         Test_Comm-PD
              0001-PD
What ends up happening is something like this
    Domestic-PD
         Test_Comm-PD
              0001-PD( [Test_Attr-MD].[Test1-MD]
              [Test_Comm-PD].[0001-PD]
It attaches the attribute to the correct product but then adds an additional member.  I don't want it to add the additional member.  Any idea on what is happening?
    Thanks for any help!

It ended up working in a different format.  I changed the data file to like below.  I also started over, recopying the outline, turning duplicate members on, so it is possible that there was just something off with the outline earlier.
    Test_Comm-PD     0001-PD      [Test_Attr-MD].[Test1-MD]
It probably will have issues if there is a duplicate member but luckily I only will have duplicate aliases.

  • Upload duplicate members to ASO

I'm testing for a conversion of a cubo to one that allows duplicate members. So far,  the outline has been constructed properly, including my test members [dim1].[OTHER] and [dim2].[OTHER]. However, I can't upload any data to cells in those members.
When I include just the leaf member names 'OTHER',  I get an error in the dataload.err file saying OTHER is a duplicate member, even though they already exist in their dimensions.
But, if I type the qualified member name [dim1].[OTHER] in the datafile, EAS throws an error saying "Aggregate storage applications ignore update to derived cells. [%s] cells skipped". I am sure it does recognize those names as existing  in the outline because changing the name throws the usual "does not exist in database" error.
I figure it interprets qualified names as having formulae in them. Is there any workaround this issue?
    Thank you,
    Alejandro Castro
UPDATE: I tried giving different aliases to each duplicate member (others and otherss), and got the same "Aggregate storage applications ignore update to derived cells. [%s] cells skipped" error message.

DataStorage is set to 'Store Data' for both members.

  • Duplicate member name

    Hi Everyone,
My database currently set to Allow duplicate names None. Now I want to enable it. (Its a planning application 9.3.1).
What are the impacts in doing so. Does duplicate members Store data?? Or are they like Shared members????
Can I create another hierarchy under a duplicate member??? Any inputs would be appreaciated.
    Regards,
    Anil

    Agree with both posts.
Don't do it for the reasons Glenn stated and I agree you wouldn't be able to actually create any duplicates anyway for the other stated reasons.
but don't think that means it will not have an impact. Enabling duplicate members will impact other areas such as your ability to partition (you cannot create a partition between a duplicate enabled and a non duplicate enabled database.
So you will receive no benefits and face potential consequences.

  • ASO application - Dimension type changes

I have changed 6 out of 19 dimensions in my ASO application from 'Multiple Hierarchy Enabled' to 'Stored'. The changed dimensions used to have only 1 hierarchy (stored) under them. On rebuild and reload of data, the cube shows different numbers? Any clue why is this happening?
Old and New applications both use default aggregations.
    Many thanks in advance.
Edited by: VinS on Mar 5, 2012 3:50 PM

When you enable multiple hierarchies enabled, it makes the dimension member a label only and pulls the total from the first hierarchy(First member) under it. If you change it to stored, its possible you are now aggregating up multipe groupings that you didn;t realize were being considerd as multiple hierarchies.

  • Slow performance in Smartview retrieval in Essbase ASO Application

    Hi,
I am not able to retreive in Smartview for ASO application when taken Bottom- all retreivals for Product dimension (propertiy set as multiple hierarchies enabled) that has 17000 members under it and keeping all other 11 dimensions at top level.
Accounts has 9000 members in which 9 members have MDX formulas
Scenario has 65 members in which 48 members have MDX formulas
It also displays session timeout error while drilling down to all bottom levels in Product dimension keeping all other dimensions at top level in Smartview.
I was able to retreive using Excel Add-in but it took around 15 minutes.
Is there any way to reduce the smartview retreival times in ASO application? Please advice.
    Thanks in advance
    Shyam

You can try creating aggregate views
However it may be the MDX formulas which may not have been optimized - try to zero on the member formulas which may be causing this. Try to retrieve set of accounts and then check.
Assuming that your timeout registry settings (ReceiveTimeout, KeepAliveTimeout, ServerInfoTimeout ) are properly set

  • EPMA 11.1.1.3  deployment of ASO application to Essbase issue

    Hi,
We are having trouble deploying an ASO application from EPMA to Essbase. When we deploy the application it validates okay and then completes 100% but the outline does not get loaded into Essbase. In the EPMA deployment message text is the following error
*[Network Error: Cannot send Data, Loading new outline for database Failed]*
NB: 1. we have two other applications: a planning application and a BSO application. Both can be successfully deployed from the same application library to the same Essbase server so i think the issue is specific to the ASO application.
    2. We successfully deployed the ASO application last Friday at 4pm prior to the change I am tryign to implement this week.
    3. The three applications share common dimensions from the shared library one of which is the Account dimension.
    4. The change I am trying to deploy is an alternate hierarchy in the account dimension (dynamic calc - containing shared members) - I have changed the storage type to Storedata in the ASO application.
    5. I have subsequently removed the alternate hierarchy and tried to deploy - still gettign the same issue.
Any suggestions on where to look to solve this would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

Restoring the whole driectory has still been unsuccessful.
deployign the application from EPMA will start to build the otn file - very slowly - it took over an hour and then it just stops and never completes the deploy so we are left with an OTN and an OTL file and EPMA states that the application is deployed but out of sync with deployment.
the error we are gettign in the application log file is
    [Thu Oct 04 09:20:27 2012]Local/FINASO///Error(1270005)
Fatal error: invalid page encountered in aggregate storage file at location [0001.0001.00000002]
    [Thu Oct 04 09:20:27 2012]Local/FINASO///Error(1270071)
Page ID [0000.0000.00000000] in the page header doesn't match page location [0001.0001.00000002]
I have also tried building a replacement ASO application in EPMA and deploying it - we were able to complete this with an application with 3 local dimensions each with 1 member but this took over an hour. when we try to do it with the same build as our DEVELOPMENT equivalent for the ASO file (which works in dev) it starts to build it but then falls over and leaves just an otn in the database directory.
any ideas on what else i should be lookign at?
    cheers
    Darren

  • Do essbasse ASO applications support never consolidate(^) operator?

I do not want Tax Rate measure to be aggregated accross any entities, I have assigned never consolidate operator on this member. Though it is being rolled up to parent members across Enity dimension members.
I few forum I have found that never consolidate operator(^) is not supported and there is no clear explanation on this.
Do essbasse ASO applications support never consolidate(^) operator?
    Thanks
    Vijay

There was a discussion on network54 and TimG did some testing on it.
    So to answer the question
Can you add a member with ^ in ASO, yes you can add it.
Will it behave like BSO ^ no it just behaves as "~". We might need a documentation update saying it won't work in ASO (How can never consolidate work on a consolidation cube!!!!)

  • How to export level0 data in COLUMNAR form from an ESSBASE ASO application?

    Hello,
I am in the need to export the level0 data from as 11.1.1.3 Essbase ASO application in COLUMNAR form.
please note that the size of the db is 6GB and report script failed.
Is it possible? please sugesst a way.
    thanks,
    Ankit

y dont you use report script
few tips to for build report script when you have huge data
    1. Decrease the amount of Dynamic Calcs in your outline. If you have to, make it dynamic calc and store.
    2. Use the <Sparse command at the beginning of the report script.
    3. Use the <Column command for the dense dimensions instead of using the Page command. The order of the dense dimensions in the Column command should
be the same as the order of the dense dimension in the outline. (Ex. <Column (D1, D2)).
    4. Use the <Row command for the sparse dimensions. The order of the sparse dimensions in the Row command should be in the opposite order of the sparse
dimension in the outline. (Ex. <Row (S3, S2, S1)). This is commonly called sparse bottom up method.
    5. If the user does not want to use the <Column command for the dense dimensions, then the dense dimensions should be placed at the end of the <Row command.
    (Ex. <Row (S3, S2, S1, D1, D2)).
    6. Do not use the Page command, use the Column command instead.
    this will work trust me

  • Question regarding ASO application in Essbase 11 version

    Hi All,
Thanks for the replies to my previous posts.
I have a question regarding the ASO applications for telecom company built in Essbase 11 version. Please provide your feedback on the design.
The ASO application has the following number of Dimensions:
Dimensions     Number of Levels     Number of Level 0 Members     Number of Attribute Dimensions
    Dimension1     2     6.5 million     15
    Dimension2 1     3
    Dimension3     1     4
    Dimension4 1      6
    Dimension5 1     6
    Dimension6     1     5
    Dimension7 1     3
    Dimension8     5     1700
    Dimension9     2     800
    Dimension10 2     40000
    Dimension11 3     750
    Dimension12 2     34000
    Dimension13 1      15
The number of Measures is 8.
The outline size is around 2.12 GB.
The data is mostly sparse. Does this design yield a good performance. Should I change some of the attributes to UDAs to increase the performance.I think Attribute dimensions are more flexible than UDAs but it affects the performance of the retrieval.
    Thanks in advance.
    Kannan.

In ASO attribute dimensions are treated like regular dimensions, That is to say they are materalized just like a regular dimension. Changing them to UDA's won't buy you the same performance as having them as dimensions will. The one nice thing about Attributes in ASO cubes (and BSO cubes) is you don't clutter us the screen with dimensions that are not used a lot. If your attrubite dimensions are used often in your ASO cube, there would be no performance difference if you made them regular dimensions.

  • SAP BPC 7.5 SP 7 - Master Data Load Detected duplicate member ID

Hi Gurus I have  a requirement.
I am loading the Master data for Cost Center - initially while loading master data i didnot load hierarchy. Now I started to load the Master data with Hierarchy but when ever I tried vailidate the transformation file then it is throwing the "Detected Duplicate member "
Let me show you the transformation - what I wrote there
    *OPTIONS
    FORMAT = DELIMITED
    HEADER = YES
    DELIMITER = TAB
    *MAPPING
    ID=ID
    *CONVERSION
    ID=Master_Data_Conversion.xls
Conversion Master_Data_Conversion.xls has the following code this is to remove the spaces EXTERNALINTERNAL
    *js:%external%.toString().replace(/\s+/g,"")
Let me show you how I have selected the Data type - Master Data /text from NW BW Infoobject
    Selection of infoobject - 0costcenter
    Format - External Format
Set Selection - first Tab - Attribute I only wante the Control Area which is 1000 so - Control Area = 1000
2nd Tab - Hierarchy - Import Text node - yes Hierarchy node - xxxxxxx  Version - Empty Member ID - first member    Level - Blank
    3rd Tab Language - English
4th Tab Attribute list - Controling Area only is selected
Note: Let me tell you that when I am loading the Master data with out Hierarchy inthe Set Selection the loading is succesful but when I am doing it with the Hierarchy as mentioned in the 2nd Tab I am getting the error as following.
Master data (dealt by table level) has errors
    Detected duplicate member ID '201100'
Also, the Master data for Cost Center in the BW is a time dependent so it is having Valid to and Valid from fields which is not there to be delt in the BPC.
    Please Help

@Vinay let me tell you when the BW is having the master data which is time dependent then it will have this Duplicate member as we will have duplicate cost center names which are compounded with the Time, so BW will not show an error as there is compounding but BPC do not have that feature.
The was raised with SAP and they resolved this issue.
SAP Note 1641529 - Loading Master Data gets duplicate error in special case
When running Data Manager Package 'Loading Master Data from BW
InfoObjects', 'Duplicate Members are found' error may be reported in below
    case:
o In the source BW InfoObjects, there are master data that have
different lengths, and their IDs are all numeric characters. And
o If the members are sorted by their lengths first and then IDs gets
a different order compared with the one if they are sorted directly
by their IDs. Take member '122' and '1101' for instance. In BW,
they are sorted as [122, 1102]; if they are sorted directly by the
IDs, the order is [1102, 122]. And
o when running the package, the members are in both 'Attribute' and
'Hierarchy' selection, and the option Filter members by Attributes
    or Hierarchies is used. And
o Select 'External Format' when running the package.
    Other terms
DM, Loading Master Data from BW, Duplicate Members
    Reason and Prerequisites
    It's a program error.
    Solution
Please apply this note or upgrade to SP11.
I hope this will help you else let me know the entire requirements so that I can provide some kind of assistance.
Do check how the master data in ur BW is then how the hierarchy nodes and costcenter nodes are there?
    Good Luck

  • Re inclusion of a member in Planning application

    Hi
I have used Shared services library to maintain dimensions in Essbase planning.
I have multiple applications sharing the same dimensions.
I have excluded some accounts in a particular application, but now want to include it back.
I am not able to do this as no option is seen to include back an excluded member from an application.
Request if i am guided on the steps to do it.
    Thanks
    Manoj.

Right-click on the DIMENSION in the application library (not the shared library, but the application library). Select the option "Show Excluded Members". Select the member you want back in the application library (the one that was previously excluded) and press the "Show" button. That will put the member back.
    Hope this helps,
    - Jake

  • How to run a Calc script in ASO application

    Hi,
I have gone through the Essbase Release 11.1.2 and I tried to implement the Calc scripts in ASO application.
When I tried to Create a Calc Script using Calc script editor for ASO Application in EAS console it say's "Calc script is not supported in ASO application". When i saved the Calc scripts it appears in Backend but it is not visible in EAS console.
I tried to call the Calc script using MDX script but it says "Unable to open the file Custom calculation terminated with Essbase error 1241109"
Can anyone help me how to work on Calc scripts in ASO application?
    Thanks in advance

I think you might be confusing BSO calc scripts with ASO custom calcs, there is a whole section in the documentation on ASO calcs - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E40248_01/epm.1112/essbase_db/aso_custcalc_alloc.html
There are also examples on the internet if you search spend some time researching.
