Duplicate notifications on iOS 7 iPhone 5S - lock screen AND banner

Hi everyone
Hopefully someone can replicate this!
Since upgrading to the iPhone 5S, some of my notifications (e.g. Mail, Foursquare) will appear as nomal in the lock screen... but the most recent one(s) will sometimes then ALSO appear as a banner, once I unlock my device.
Is anyone else noticing this behaviour?
A few thoughts I've had on this so far:
- It's only happened so far when I use TouchID to unlock the phone - therefore, could iOS be assuming that (if the TouchID unlocked the phone REALLY quickly), that I may not have seen it, and so sends me a banner too?
- With the above in mind, I thought that perhaps the M7 chip was showing me duplicates if I hadn't used my phone for a while (incase I'd missed it), but if I wake the homescreen first to scroll though my notifications and THEN use TouchID to unlock it, the notification will sometimes still appear as a banner.
- I don't know if this happens on password entry too, as I will always be using TouchID moving forward
- This problem may not be unique to the 5S, especially if TouchID is not part of the cause
- It could just be a bug.
Anyone else?
Thanks
Mike

I've also been having this issue. I'm talking to Apple about it right now and they don't seem to have a fix for it. I've even tried the old Settings > Notification Center > Messages > Repeat Alerts > Never
That didn't even work and it's always been set to never repeat alerts. This is happening to me for iMessages. What will happen is, if I get two messages or more showing on the lock screen, either by unlocking my phone with a passcode or Touch ID, once I unlock the phone a banner of the most recent message received will show up at the top. It only happens if I receive more than one iMessage. If it's a singular iMessage or text message, it doesn't appear to happen. Apple wasn't able to help me out with anything. I tried a hard reset and that didn't work whatsoever. All of my settings are the same on my iPhone 5 running 7.0.4 that I was using only a few days ago and ever since using the iPhone 5s did this problem start happening. It may have something to do with having Touch ID enabled, but who knows.
Also, I am running 7.0.4 on this iPhone 5s as well, so for those of you saying there should have been a fix in it, there wasn't. If anyone is able to shed light on this, definitely let us know.

  • Iphone 5 lock screen and power button no longer works?

With my iPhone 5 that I have had for around 10 months the lock/power button hardly ever works. I have to press the button many times and for multiple seconds for my phone to power on or off.  What can I do? Will Apple replace it, and will they give me another 16 like I have now? I really want to know before my warranty runs out because I truly do love my phone and want it to work properly.

If it is determined that your problem is due to user abuse or damage, your warranty will be void; but you will be eligible for an out of warranty replacement for $269.

  • HT201210 After updating iPhone 4S to iOS 7, the lock screen will not accept my password.

After updating my iPhone 4S to iOS 7, the lock screen will not accept my password and I am locked out of my phone. Anyone else seeing this? What can I do to fix this?

    Hello kennyred,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
iOS: Forgotten passcode or device disabled after entering wrong passcode
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212
Connect the device to the computer with which you normally sync and open iTunes.
Note: If iTunes asks you to enter the passcode, try another computer that you have synced with. Otherwise, go to "If you have never synced your device with iTunes, or you do not have access to a computer" section below.
If the device is still disabled, or if iTunes does not automatically sync your device, sync the device with iTunes.
If you have chosen to encrypt your backup, it will contain the passcode. Disable backup encryption before restoring from backup. Learn more about iOS backups in iTunes.
When the backup and sync is complete, select Restore from Backup and choose the most recent backup of your device.
    Best of luck,
    Mario

  • IOS 8.2 on iphone 5s lock screen icons are larger

Since upgrading my iphone 5s to 8.2, the signal, carrier, and battery icons on the lock screen are larger then they are when the phone is unlocked on the home screen... When I unlock my phone, the icons stay large for a brief moment and then flicker, and then shrink down to the normal size. Is this a known bug in iOS 8.2? It is really rather annoying as the screen is lagging and it takes time for the icons to go to their normal size instead of just being at the same size on the lock screen and home screen.

I suspect it was intentional, so you can get a quick reading of network and battery without putting on my glasses
I also don't consider it significant; I do not notice any flicker in the font change as the screen opens. And I have Reduce Motion turned on, because I think the fly-in is pretty silly.
A long time ago I worked in a software development environment that defined 4 levels of criticality in classifying bugs:
Critical - the bug prevents a customer from using a key feature (or the application as a whole)
Severe - Same criterion as Critical, but there is a workaround
    Annoying
    Interesting
I would classify this one as a 4.

  • Iphone lock screen and home screen...

    hi apple,
we apple users are worried about the lock and  home screen of iphone, people breakjail or try to breakjail their iphone because it lacks some features of high-tech of android phones, please apple dont let us drop apple for android, work on the lock screen and home screen whereby it can look like jailbreaking...thanks.

Android isn't high-tech. Android is nothing but a poor copy of Apple's UI as with Windows being a poor copy of Apple's computer GUI.
As with Windows on a computer, Android is a swiss cheese for security mobile OS not to mention being a fragmented mess that will only get worse when Apple's patents are enforced. Jailbreaking or hacking iOS removes all the built-in security making it as insecure as Android.

  • My iphone 4 lock screen/power button is not working, nothing spilled on it and not dropped, any idea why the button won't work?

My iphone 4 lock screen/power button just stopped working.  nothing spilled on it and not been dropped.  Any idea why it stopped working?

I have no idea why it stopped working.  But why it failed does not matter.
Take it to an Apple Store or Authorized Apple Repair Center and have it assessed and see what it would take to get it working.

  • I took pictures on my iphone when it was on the lock screen and now I can't view the pictures in all of my photos. How do I view them?

I took pictures on my iphone when it was on the lock screen and now I can't view the pictures in all of my photos. How do I view them?

If you go to the Photos app, is there content in the Photo Library? These would be pictures that are synced to the phone from the computer. Photos in the camera roll are those that you take with the phone, or save from email, MMS on the phone. What type of pictures are you trying to get rid of? If you are trying to get rid of the synced photos, you need to connect to iTunes, select the iPhone in the device pane, then go to the Photo tab in iTunes and remove the check mark by sync.

  • Black bar on bottom of iPhone 5 lock screen

There is a black bar at the bottom of my iphone 5 lock screen, is this supposed to be there? Is enyone else having this problem?  The top image is what shows
when I set the lock screen picture, and the bottom is what the actual lock screen looks like.  Is there any way to fix this?

nevermind, im just dumb, for some reason the wallpaper would move up from where i originally had it selected, moving the image down lower on the choose wallpaper screen fixed it.

  • How to disable iPhone 5 lock screen voice over passcode?

How to disable iPhone 5 lock screen voice over passcode?

I'm not at all sure what you're asking.
I guess you might mean you would like Siri to function when the iPhone is locked.  You can do that by going to
Settings > General > Passcode Lock > Siri = "On".

  • If notifications are set to "view in lock screen," and I can swipe to access the app, does that mean I then can access everything without logging on?

I'm concerned with security, so I wonder if by setting my notifications OFF to "view in lock screen" I can then gain access to all other apps as well. That would seem to trade security for convenience. Or does that permit access ONLY to the one app that sent the notification?

    Hey Eric,
Thanks for taking the time. Unfortunately no that does not solve it. Same as swipe it will get me there and it will show separate programs spaced out. The issue I am having is that all my open word files are bunched up in a pile on top of each other. I can see the edges of each one but I want them to be separated from each other enough that I can visually identify what file is what.
Again, thanks for trying, it is appreciated.

  • HT1212 my iphone is frozen on the lock screen and will not let me enter my passcode, I have held the home button and power button for up to 1 minute and plugged it up to itunes because its locked it wont work? i need help

i have connected it to itunes like i was told to do and it wont do anything because its locked with a passcode and its frozen on the lock screen and will not let me enter myt passcode and after a while it just shuts off, it has been doing this for almost 48 hours. I was told to hold the home button and power button to shut it down and that I could then restart it and it would work... Nothing has helped, What can I try???

Reset the device by pressing and holding the home and power buttons for 15-20 seconds until the white Apple logo appears.
If that does not resolve, restore the device via iTunes on the computer.
If all else fails, take the device to Apple (or whomever provides support in your country) for evaluation and possible replacement.

    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • How do i change wallpaper - home screen and lock screen and view only the icons?

Ever since I uploaded iOS 7 I have somehow changed the wallpaper from the locked screen and home page. Currently it is set on both (lock and home screen) How do I change it back to be able to view the icons on my iPhone?  Secondly I don't when I have IM either.

Setting wallpaper is done by going to Settings>Wallpapers and Brightness. I'm not sure exactly what you are asking about being able to view the icons. Is it possible you have more than 1 home screen and you are looking at an empty one. Try pressing the home button, what happens? Lastly, I don't know what your statement "I don't when I have IM either", is referring to, or what it means.
