Duplicate one channel of audio FCPX

Im editing a wedding were a videographer used a wireless mic on the groom, How do i duplicate that wireless audio channel so i can hear it in both speakers? FCPX vs 10.0.9. thank you

What are you seeing in the meters? What is the channel configuration, stereo or dual mono? Dual mono should let you switch off the unused channel and send the audio to both sides.

  • ONLY ONE CHANNEL OF AUDIO WITH SONY PMW-200

    Hi,
When I automate to sequence using video shot on my Sony PMW-200 I only get one channel of audio, when the preset in Premiere clearly states 8 channels of 24 bit audio. If I drag a clip to the timeline all 8 channels are there, but then I have to trim the beginning and end of each clip in order to do transitions, which would take forever on a wedding video. There must be other PMW-200 users who have this same problem. I am shooting in UDF mode 422 at 50 mb/sec on the Sony and just updated my Premiere CS 6.
    Thanks,
    Ed

similar question, I found a thread that may solve your problem: Sony PMW-200 file import into Premiere Pro CS6 only get 1 Ch. audio, you can go for a look. Or you can try some converters to help you.      Handbrake, any video converter, ffmpeg, imixmxf, transcode them first, then reload into premiere.

  • Only getting one channel of audio with mic HELP

I had been using Garageband with the built in mic to do my podcasts. I just got some real gear.
Here is what I got... M Audio USB fast track, MXL V63MBP running on 10.3.9
I am only getting one channel of audio through the mic. I have the settings on the mixer right and I have gone in the sound preferences and made sure it was right.
On the track in garageband, I made sure that the real instrument settings were set to Stereo. I have been messing around with this thing for an HOUR and I am still only getting one channel of audio. I've done everything I've been able to come up with in google and still nothing works. If anyone has any ideas ,that would be swell because I'm beginning to think that the crappy built in mic on my mac is looking really good about now.

    You're welcome.
The common confusion is that 'Stereo" means two speakers and "mono" means one. Stereo actually means two different signals going to the two speakers. Since a Mic is a mono input device, you set the track to mono so that the same sound comes out of both speakers. Enjoy --Hang

  • Why does my nested sequence have only one channel of audio?

    Hi,
Working in Prem Pro CC on my Mac Pro.
I have  a number of interviews, each shot with 3 cameras and with audio from a separate audio recorder. The audio has two channels, Ch1 has the boom mic and Ch2 a radio mic.
I created a sequence, placed the audio into channels 1 & 2 (they are linked) before placing the video tracks onto timeline tracks 1-3. Everything's synced nicely and so I nested the shots and then I enabled multicam on the nested sequence.
However, now when I edit the nested sequence into my edit sequence, it has only one channel of audio. I tried Modify>Audio Channels but within that page, in the option to select 'Source Channels' the options are "None" and "Channel 1".
How do I get my nested sequence to place both audio channels into my edit sequence?
    Any help much appreciated.

Nevermind folks, I figured it out. I had my render control settings set to Apple Pro Res on some timelines.

  • In FCPx how do you invert the phase of one channel of audio?

I talked with my engineer friend and he listened to and tested the audio on my project.  He said one of the channels was out of phase and that is why I'm getting no audio on my wireless audio recording being played back on android phones.  He didn't know how to tell me to access fcpx to make the change to the one channels phase.  Any help is greatly appreciated!
p.s. I want to thank Luis Wequeira and Tom Wolsky for getting me to this point.

IF the problem is inverse phase, all you need to do is switch either the left or right, which will put whichever one you switch back in phase with the other one.
HOWEVER, as a test, if you hit the "Make Mono" button in the Gain effect BEFORE switching the phase of either channel, it will combine the two channels. If they completely cancel out during playback, phase was your problem with the phones. If it doesn't cancel out though, your problem isn't phase. Again, I doubt a complete lack of audio is due to phase issues, but test it out.
On a more technical level, neither channel is actually out of phase when people talk about two channels being 180 degrees out of phase. One of the channel's polarity is reversed, meaning the voltage, bits,  or whatever, is increasing when it should be decreasing and decreasing when it should be increasing. The audio channel is doing the mirror image of what it's supposed to be doing. Being out of phase actually refers to one of the channels being moved in time in relation to the other channel, which is a different thing entirely.

  • Only one channel of audio recorded with external USB audio interface on DV6604nr

I only get on channel of audio when i hookup my Behringer UCA202 to my dv6604nr
vista 32 sp2 . The Behringer takes analog 2 channel audio and converts it to a digital signal.
This is using the Audacity software. The hardware and software check fine, though i tested them with an xp system.
Are there trouble shooting tips for these issues. I've updated the Audacity software and the usb drivers say their up to date. (?)

Come on... It's just like a usb turntable, only a little better quality. What steps would you use to troubleshoot one of those?

  • Importing only one channel of audio from two-channel video

I'm diving back into iMovie 6 after a long hiatus, so forgive me if this is a dumb question, but my search hasn't turned up an answer. I have two channels of audio on the video I'm importing. Is it possible to split the two channels in iMovie once the video is imported, or do I have to figure out how to have the video camera feed only the audio channel I want to import? Thanks!

You have to figure out how to have the video camera feed only the audio channel I want to import!

  • Removing one channel of audio in compressor... any way?

Basically, I need to scrap the right channel in all of my clips and create a mono (or stereo duplicates) of the left channel.
In Compressor's audio settings, I can only create a mono mix, but I can't tell it that I want mono (L) or mono (R), it will only do a mix.
Is there anyway of creating these settings? I have a lot of clips I need to do this to (and will have more in the future) and I want a streamlined workflow for doing this.
    Thanks.

    Background for the clips:
Footage from Canon 7D, with audio recorded on the 7D using a JuicedLink DT454. The DT454 pumps noise into the right channel to force the 7D to shut off its "Auto Gain Control". This allows crystal clear audio with manual gain to be recorded onto the left track.
The 7D natively shoots in the H.264 container, but I transcode everything to Apple ProRes (LT) for editing. Since I'm already transcoding, I'd love for there to be an audio solution in Compressor to kill the right channel (or make the clip mono left). There are a lot of audio channel types, but you can't choose "Mono" and dedicate it to Left or Right. Apparently it MUST be a mix.
Which is awfully odd, considering that I can open clips in QuickTime Pro 7, open the video properties, and select "Audio", set the left channel as "mono" and right channel as "unused". Done.
However, I have a lot of clips and I do not want to do this. I want a streamlined solution built into my transcoding workflow.

  • Please Help - Audio Exporting-Only one channel

When I export the audio from Final Cut, I get only one channel of audio ( right side). This happens with all the AC3 and PCM audio settings.
All of the settings are correct in Final Cut. I have dual output audio on the meters and playback. I've also done a complete troubleshooting check on my playback system to make sure that everything is working properly. It is. I tunes plays everything back in stereo as does final Cut.
Any suggestions? I'm really behing the 8ball at this point.

  • FCP only capturing one channel. what's up with that!?

in FCP 7 while i am logging and capturing HDV footage off of my canon XLH1, only one channel of audio is captured. originally the audio was shot using 2 separate channels, in fact, i can hear both channels playing back (each on their own sound level/they are not mixed) while the capture is happening.. but when i'm done, FCP has only captured one of the channels.
how can i resolve this problem?

in my capture bin, after i've captured the clip, it shows that only one audio clip was captured. when i drag it into the timeline, only one audio channel is present.
my lost channel was on a wireless mic, as was the saved channel.
fcp is only capturing one channel even when i log other tapes that did not have separated audio channels.
i'm guessing there is some setting that is now off while i capture, because it used to capture audio just fine last week.

  • Exported Audio Voiceover Only One Channel

    I created a quicktime screen recording for a screencast/tutorial using QuickTime X.
Brought that clip into FCPX, added some music, a few transitions and some motion graphics/titling.
Exported to h.264 and I'm getting stereo from the music track, but the voiceover is only on one channel.
So I go to audio settings and batch change everything to Mono. I noticed that there are surround sound settings, that is, multiple audio 'tracks'.
    Export and only one channel.
When I monitor in FCP X I heare the audio out of both channels.
When I export it using FCP X H.264 to quicktime: Audio Only On One Channel
    Killing me.
So I I loaded the H.264 exported clip into QuickTime Pro 7
Anyway, In QT 7 I changed all the settings for audio (properties) and turned every channel that showed up to mono, saved as and the QuickTime file now plays voiceover audio on both channels. Yeah!! So it seems.
So I save as in QuickTime 7 and when I play in QuickTime 7 I get the Soundtrack/Voice over audio on two channels.
But when I open it in QuickTime X (or upload the file to YouTube/Vimeo) the voiceover only comes through on one channel. Keep in mind that the stock Music does play through both channels!

  • How can I delete one channel of stereo audio?

I am using FCPX and I need to delete one of the stereo channels.  All I am seeing on the screen is one waveform and one channel.  How do I see both channels?
    Thanks

Change it to dual mono and use expand audio components. You can adjust the channels separately or switch either off in the inspector.

What version of Premiere Elements and on what computer operating system?     Elements 13 on Windows 7
What is the brand/model/settings of the camera that recorded these videos?        ony  PMW 320
When you import them into your Premiere Elements project, what does Premiere Elements Properties for that import give for
the audio description in the way of number of channels? If you open the Audio Meter (Window Menu/Audio Meters) and you play back
the video in the Premiere Elements Editor, how many channels does the Audio Meter display?
I just drag and drop video and when playing back only channel 1 will appear
What is your intended export for this video in terms of audio as well as video compression and formats?    MP4
I think you can only use audio if it's recorded on channel 1 or it does not recognize it.
