Duplicate open session DVD?

I am trying to duplicate a open session DVD for a client. The DVD was recorded with a stand alone external DVD burner (the kind you can plug a composite cable into and push the record button on the unit).
What is happening is this service company uses this DVD recorder in the field with a lipstick camera to record the customer's house before and after. He then gives the customer this video to show how much cleaner things are after he is done.
The challenge is that he would like to have the recordable DVDs already preburned with a promotional video and then left unfinalized. He then can record the customers house after the promo video, finalize the disc, and then give it to the customer.
I spoke with DiskMakers and they said it wasn't possible for them to duplicate an open session DVD that can still be burned to. I was looking on the web though and came across this DVD duplicator
http://alea.com/pdf/DVDrihoII0304.PDF
which claims to "Copy most of the current DVD/CD formats and open-session DVD/CDs."
So now I'm trying to figure out is there is a way for me to get my current burners to pull of this trick (I would rather not buy the duplicator for this one job).
Anybody have and experience or ideas with this?
Thanks for your help!
Dan

Daniel,
Maybe you can use the content of the open session DVD with the help of this FAQ:
A guide to using DVD Decrypter with EncoreDVD
DVD Decrypter (freeware) isn't officially available anymore, but I would be
very surprised ;) if you couldn't find it by googling for "dvddecrypter" or "dvd decrypter".

  • Multi or Open session CD burning from iPhoto

    I stumbled upon this quest in iPhoto, but it could apply to all iLife or Apple CD/DVD-burning equipped apps that use the burn icon.
    Where is the burning preference to set multi-session (or open session) before clicking the shutter icon to burn, for example, an album of pictures in iPhoto?
    In helping a Window's friend, who brings me her digital camera to download her pictures and burn a CD. There is usually only 10-20MBs worth of photos on her camera each time. I'd like to keep the session open on a CD-R to keep adding to the disc in lieu of burning (wasting) a new disc each time.

    Hi Scott,
    multi session burning is not supported within iPhoto.
    I suggest you import her images using Image Capture. The default location for the downloaded images is loose within the Pictures folder. Once you set up Image Capture you can click the options button to create a new folder to download the images too. You can then use this folder to burn your multisession CD.
    Using Image Capture to download images and video clips:
    Open up Image Capture which is found in the Applications folder.
    When it is opened, go to Image Capture/Preferences
    Under the General button choose
    Camera: When a camera is connected, open Image Capture.
    The next time you connect your camera Image Capture will open.
    In the window that opens you will see an Options button. Click on that button to set your options.
    To find out more about Image Capture (it can do a lot more) Click on Help in the menu bar when Image Capture is open.
    iPhoto: How to Change the "Open Automatically" Preference
    If you find you can't change any of Image Captures preferences or can't access any drop down menus or they are greyed out, check to make sure Image Capture is loose in the Applications folder and not within a sub folder.

  • Microsoft Access Open Session Prompt

    We currently use Crystal Reports 6.0 32-bit with an Access 2.0 database. When I click on the refresh button or Verify Database within Crystal, I get the Microsoft Access Open Session error that prompts for a user ID and password. I also get this error even when I access the sample reports that came with Crystal Reports. I have tried this with Crystal Reports 6.0 and 7.0 (32 bit). Any one know what the problem could be?

    Hi
    It might be possible that some of the dll files have got corrupted. You can search if you have duplicate dll files of Crystal reports on the machine.
    Try repairing the software from Add/Remove programs. After installation restart the application.
    If that doesn't help go for a uninstall of the software and reinstall.

  • I can't open the DVD tray

    I can't open the DVD tray. There's nothing inside. I hear a sound (a grrrr) but it won't open.
    I had that 2-3 times in the last 5 years and I always managed to open it by pushing the "DVD ROM drive open button" while I restart but not this time.
    I also tried to put a paper clip in the little hole but that doesn't work either.
    In the Apple help site, they say push the "eject media key" on your keyboard; I didn't know where that is but I know now it's the F12 key; when I push it I hear a sound coming from the tray (like a electric screwdriver) but nothing happens.
    So what can I do ?
    I saw that Andrew Favret had the same problem in October and Don Archibald said:
    • Boot or restart the machine, immediately press the Option key, keep it held down. This will bring up Startup Manager. Once Startup Manager has finished loading, press the key combo Command-. (Command-Periodkey). This should open the tray.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I tried the "Option" key. The Start Up Manager appeared: A display with my 5 drives in the middle, and a Right Arrow icon on the right.
    I did click on the right arrow and it started to load normally as it does when you turn the computer on.
    So I try the whole thing again and now instead of clicking on the right arrow, I tried the command and period key. I hear again, a sound coming from the tray and I see the icon for "eject" on the screen but nothing happens. Tried 5-6 times. And the F12 key don't have any effect at this time.
    If I had a disc in the tray, I'm sure the icons for the DVD drive will appear but the tray is empty.
    Not sure if there's a relation but I just upgraded that same day to a new version of iTunes (from version 7 to 8.0.2) and 3 other upgrades: QuickTime player (from 7.1.3 to 7.5.5) Plus Java and Security something.
    Usually there is a CD/DVD in the tray that won't eject, but you say the tray is empty. Are there any other users of you Mac, especially kids? Someone may have placed something in the tray that is causing the jam.
    Here's the usual fixes.
    First try a Restart while holding down the mouse button.
    If that doesn’t work, look at these links:
  • Open Session: unexpected error
    Hi everybody,
    I'm using BO XI R3.0 and since couple of last days I'm having problem with opening Universe Designer. The message I'm getting is "Open session: unexpected error". This happens after I provide user name and password for the access to the system.
    Does anyone know the solution to the problem beside uninstalling Client tools etc. (I already did that) because the same happens when I want to open Desktop Intelligence, Translation Manager, etc.
    Ivan
    In addition to my previous question, I have another query. I am trying to create a macro to rename, hide/show and change some more properties of universe objects. Below is the code to log on to designer and open the required universe
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    Set DesignerApp = New Designer.Application
        DesignerApp.Visible = True
        Call DesignerApp.LogonDialog
        Set Univ = DesignerApp.Universes.Open
        DesignerApp.Visible = False
        Set Wksht = ThisWorkbook.Worksheets("Objects")
        Wksht.Unprotect
        Range("Objects").ClearContents
        Call GetObjectInfo(Univ.Classes, 1)
        Range("Objects").Resize(Wksht.UsedRange.Rows.Count - 1, 5).Name = "Objects"
        Range("Objects").Columns("H:L").Value = Range("Objects").Columns("B:F").Value
        Wksht.Protect
        DesignerApp.Quit
        Set DesignerApp = Nothing
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    What happenns is that after I log on using my macro, if I try to log on to designer again I get the "Open Session: unexpected error" error. If I delete the LSI folder on my local machine, then I can log on fine. but everytime I use the macro I get the error afterwards. I am logging onto a SAP system.
    Any help on this one?
  • What is the proper way to close all open sessions of a NI PXI-4110 for a given Device alias?
    I've found that, when programming the NI PXI-4110 that, if a the VI "niDCPower Initialize With Channels VI" (NI-DCPower pallette) is called with a device
    alias that all ready has one or more sessions open (due to an abort or other programming error) a device reference results from the reference out that has a (*) where "*" is post-fixed to the device reference where and is an integer starting that increments with each initialize call. In my clean up, I would like to close all open sessions. For example, let's said the device alias is "NIPower_1" in NI Max, and there are 5 open sessions; NIPower_1, NIPower_1 (1), NIPower_1 (2), NIPower_1 (3), and NIPower_1 (4). A simple initialize or reset (using niDCPower Initialize With Channels VI, or, niDCPower Initialize With Channels VI, etc.) What is the proper way to close all open sessions?
    Thanks in advance. Been struggleing with this for days!
    When you Initialize a session to a device that already has a session open, NI-DCPower closes the previous session and returns a new one. You can verify this very easily: try to use the first session after the second session was opened.
    Unfortunately, there is a small leak and that is what you encountered: the previous session remains registered with LabVIEW, since we unregister inside the Close VI and this was never called. So the name of the session still shows in the control like you noted: NIPower_1, NIPower_1 (1), NIPower_1 (2), NIPower_1 (3), and NIPower_1 (4), etc.
    There may be a way to iterate over the registered sessions, but I couldn't find it. However, you can unregister them by calling "IVI Delete Session". Look for it inside "niDCPower Close.vi". If you don't have the list of open sessions, but you have the device name, then you can just append (1), (2) and so forth and call "IVI Delete Session" in a loop. There's no problem calling it on sessions that were never added.
    However - I consider all this a hack. What you should do is write code that does not leak sessions. Anything you open, you should close. If you find yourself in a situation where there are a lot of leaked sessions during development, relaunching LabVIEW will clear it out. If relaunching LabVIEW is too much of an annoyance, then write a VI that does what I described above and run it when needed. You can even make it "smarter" by getting the names of all the NI-DCPower devices in your system using the System Configuration or niModInst APIs.
    Hope this helps.
  • No more than 1 sessions at a time are allowed. Please wait until open sessions expire.
    I have been unable to log into my Actiontec MI424WR router this week, The router returns the message "No more than 1 sessions at a time are allowed. Please wait until open sessions expire." every time I try to log in. This has been going on for days.  Even pulling the power to reboot it did no change.  I'm the only user in the household that would log into it, so I don't understand how this could occur.  How can I get in?
    GLN2
    I really don't want to do a hard reset as I have a handful of custon port forwarding rules that I had created. I'm not a wiz at that, so it would take me too much time to re-create!  I may have no choice. Next time I can get in I will try the backup of the config file. I hope it contains the port forwarding rules.
    The backup function should work fine, I have used it to save my Steam port  forward rules to my hard drive, after a pin hole reset I was able to restore successfully. I did configure mine to 1 session & ALWAYS   logout when I am done.  I have never had any problems logging into the router. But in your case you may need more than 1 session allowed.
    Are you using a native or 3rd party app to remember your router ID/password? IF you are do not do this, you are "defeating" the built in security of the router
  • Getting error code -251723766 returned from the "EthernetIP Open Session.vi" while trying to talk to a PLC
    I have created a LabVIEW application using LabVIEW 2012 (64 bit) that attempts to communicate with a PLC. I do not actually have the PLC here at the Rockwell Collins facility in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
    I have sent this application to my co-worker, who is located at a different Rockwell Collins facility in Tustin, California, where the PLC is actually located.
    My coworker in California is reporting that when he starts up my application under WIN7 he gets an error code of "-251723766" when the S/W performs the "Open Session" function during initialization.
    I looked at the online help and the value "-251723766" is not defined.
    When I run the same application under WIN7 here in Cedar Rapids I do NOT get the runtime error code of "-251723766" during initialization.
    Do you have any ideas for what is causing this problem?
    Hello
      I never really understood what the session parameter was all about.
      The documentation says that the session parameter is optional.
      Based on your advice I have deleted the code from my block diagram that was doing an Open Session.
      Are there any example LabVIEW programs that I can study that actully use the Ethernet/IP S/W to connect to a PLC?
      I have attached 2 screen captures that show how my LabVIEW VI's are accepting the session parameter.
      Do you think I should delete the input and output parameters for session?
      Please let me know.
  • BSOD open cd dvd drive nvgts.sys blue screens
    hello
    I recently built my MSi mainboard system
    I started getting the BSOD almost anytime I opened my dvd drive. After a few minuets of using Google I discovered this is a common problem but with no certain fix. I did find a fix for a 750i msi mainboard but i have a MSI p7n diamond (780I)
    Can you offer any help with this?
    Thank you so much!
    OS:           Windows XP
    Mainboard:    Msi P7N diamond
    Case:         Apevia X-plorer
    CPU:          Intel core 2 Quad Q9300
    CPU coller:   zalman 97000 cooler
    Memory:       2Gb SLi dual channel memory
    VGA:          Nvidia 9800 GTX
    HDD:          Hard drives
                  WD 3200 GB sata 2
                  Maxtor sata 1 200gb
                  IDE 320gb
    A/V capture:  Pinnacle Movie board
    Sound Card:   X-FI soundcard
    Speakers  :   Logitec x-540
    DVD burner:   Lite-on LH-20A1l-06 DVD burner
    Extras:       MD3 front panel
                  LCD fan contorller
    Ok. Your current DVD drivers can be found in - Start - Settings - Control Panel - System Properties - Hardware - Device Manager - DVD/CD ROM Drives - 'Select' Lite-On, right click, click properties - Driver. If it doesn't say 'Provider Microsoft', that's got be uninstalled, let the reboot detect the new hardware (your installed drive), & let Windows install it's driver. (It may ask for your XP install disc to find the driver for the hardware setup).
    Any way, this is what mine shows as drivers for my DVD/CD/BD drives = (100% troublefree), & I'm running & burning some heavy duty app's.;
    Driver Provider: Microsoft
    Driver Date: 7/1/2001
    Driver Version: 5.1.2535.0
    Digital Signer: Microsoft Windows Publisher
    I'll do some more forum searching, because it was here I found the fix. Time frame was around Jun/Jul '08. Also seems it involved something about RAID drivers as a part of the discussion. Also going to pull out the MSI Install disc & browse it to maybe help remember more, but using the Windows driver should solve this for you.
    The Drive's firmware is what counts most (BL06 is the most recent). The Driver that will make the drive recognized for sure, is the Windows version. Nvidia can provide a new driver today, but that don't mean it will work.
    Edit: That referenced forum post you linked, is the one that propelled me to find the other one. Will start my search Apr. Don't think it was in the OC & Mod. subject. Will start in the Intel Core 2 first.
    Hi,
    I changed the Sata Hard disk, and installed XP. And I changed to normal again.
    Then I cant more open the DVD rom.
    I have installed the driver on the other Hard Disk. I need really your help.
    Thanks
    Hi
    I agree with Jeka;
    Im not quite sure what you did but if the CD/DVD drive does not eject the disk pressing the button then you could try to eject the disk manually.
    You will find a small hole near the eject button.
    Take an paper clip and put it into this hole. Usually this should help to open the CD/DVD drive and to eject the disk.
    hi penguin247,
    Regarding your questions:
    1. Can you try to press the eject symbol on the DVD bay and observe if the DVD tray comes out.
    Link to picture
    2. By default, the HDD is set as the first boot device and the ODD second on the K430. You will need to change the boot order or continuously tap F12 during POST to boot from the ODD (assuming you have a bootable media inserted).
    Hello Neni
    According to the information I saw in that post it could be caused by a sort of inconsistency of the program code vs a structure.
    Wether that is a bug that is in your SAP Solution Manager release or something that is caused by administrative actions (perhaps solving SPAU entries after SP stack update or upgrade) I cannot tell.
    I would recommend you either try and find a relative SAP note (narrowing down result to only your SAP Solution Manager system) and searching using the dump keywords. If you cannot find anything I would recommend you to open a customer message so SAP can take a look at the specific error.
    If you give more information, perhaps someone on the forum can help you out abit better, which SAP Solution Manager version and so on.
    You also didn't answer my question, any recent changes you are aware of ?
    Kind regards
    Tom
  • FF currently limits the number of open sessions
    I currently programmatically launch FF on linux using an execl command. In the run string I use the -P option and launch my application by right clicking on the file that has its own mime type and that is opened by my app before the execl call. (my app takes a data file and creates a temp html file that is handed off to FF via execl) I check the system processes for a current running version of FF. If so I add the no-remote option.
    This all works ok. However, if I attempt to launch another copy of my program FF will not allow this even though I am using a tab browser configuration.
    I believe that one session of FF per "user" is acceptable but not the limit of one tab for each user other than the default user. I see my FF configuration eventually having several users as I begin to implement separate security policies for certain websites such as financial, casual, javascript development, no cookies, etc.
    I typically keep well over 20 tabs open, if FF crashes I can loose everything as if the restore fails I must then hunt up each tab that I had open using history.
    Can I get an update on where FF is headed with regards to the maximum number of users windows and the capability to open multiple tabs with a non-default user.
    Sounds like you've got a connection leak - rather than increasing the number of open sessions, you need to constrain the application to use fewer!
    If you don't ensure that the connection is closed even if an exception is thrown after it is opened but before it is closed then you are liable - likely even - to leak connections.
    For example. Bad:
    Connection c = getConnection();
    ... code here ...
    c.close();Good:
    Connection c = getConnection();
    try {
       ... code here ...
    } finally {
       c.close();
    }The same rule applies to ResultSet and Statement objects - and all three should be closed in the appropriate order (make sure you close result set and statement objects before re-using their reference).
    (edit: rephrased ambiguous final para).
