"Duplicate Photo" not working?

I've repeatedly tried to duplicate a photo using the "Duplicate" command. The app's wheels turn, it seems to be doing something, then it dumps me out at the top of whatever library window I'm in, and lo and behold, the duplicate photo is nowhere to be seen! (The original is where it always was.)
Anyone else seen this problem, and if so what's the fix?
Thanks

Do a search for the word 'copy' in the iphoto search box and see if anything turns up.

  • Why doesn't duplicate photo finder work in Prem El 12?

Premier Elements 12, new HP PC, Win 8.1, lots of storage/memory.    ~14K pictures and I'd like to start to trim out the duplicates.  While in Premier Elements 10 the Organizer's Duplicate photo feature under Find seemed to work pretty well, the one in PremEl 12 does not work; brings up stacks of photos that are not even similar, much less duplicates.   What gives?

Photoshop Elements 12 (photo editor) and Premiere Elements 12 (video editor) are standalone program, each with the Elements Organizer 12. When these programs are on the same computer, they share the same Elements Organizer catalog. All that being said, since your issue is with Elements Organizer and it identification "Duplicate Photos"  not videos,
I would suggest that you might repost your thread in the Adobe Photoshop Elements Forum for a boarder perspective on your situation.from people such as Barbara Brundage, MichelBParis, et al.

  • Zen Micro Photo not working with new XP SP2 install

Okay so my Zen Micro Photo stopped being recognised on my computer about ten months ago when I upgraded to WMP (for BBC iPlayer - it's compulsory to have it). Anyway I li'ved with this and have now got thoroughly sick of the same songs and nothing new so I have done a fresh install (on a brand new hard dri've) of Windows XP SP2 WMP9 with the sole intention of using this install/hard dri've?for the player. I used the original installation disk and it prompted me to upgrade to WMP0 as I installed everything. There were no errors during the install and I rebooted when prompted to.
When I attach the player it is recognised by the machine (task bar icon and correctly labelled in System > Hardware > Device Manager which reports it to be?working okay) but the Creative media software says "player not attached" when it is. It is not visible on My Computer as a dri've so I STILL have no access to the player. Player screen reports "docked" with a logo and is flashes a charging icon. Driver v5.2.0.0. The player plays fine but hasn't had new music on in almost a year
There is nothing else on the XP install (IE6 and everything - argh!) I did the registry permission tweak thing mentioned?here:?http://support.creative.com/kb/showa....aspx?sid=9287?but it didn't do anything.
    Any help greatfully received!

  • "Do not import duplicates" is not working

The "Do not import duplicates" box is checked for all imports but is not working.  This is both for my Nikon DSLR, my Canon S-95 and my iPhone. This was happening with both Snow Leapord and Lion as operating system.  I have been using Aperture since the first release and only in the last few months has this been an issue.  Any thoughts?

  • Import duplicate detection not working?

I've done a lot of searching and can't seem to find the answer. All our photos live on my laptop. My wife's laptop has some of our photos but also a lot of ones for work. I'm trying to give her the complete set of all our photos.
I did some tests and found the "Import duplicate photo?" dialog box very helpful. So I went through and compared our libraries but there were thousands to compare. So I decided to make a folder on her desktop of all our photos from my computer. My theory was I could simply import all the photos and iPhoto would detect the duplicates and I could choose to not import them. It doesn't seem to work, I did a couple tests and all the duplicates got through.
I upgraded her iPhoto version to iPhoto '08 (7.1.2) just before doing this process since her old version didn't support the dupe detection. Interestingly when I import a photo in her current version it shows up as the filename without the extension but the existing photos all have the extension. I think this is why they aren't being seen as dupes.
Any ideas how to remedy this? My fallback will be to use Duplicate Annihilator but that will require copying in everything (thousands of photos) and then sifting. Seems scary and unnecessary.

iPhoto doesn't display the extension in the Info window at the lower left hand corner or in the Title field. If you use the Photos->Show Photo Info menu option you'll see the full file name. Also do you have the Finder set to display the extensions?
*Do not import a full library into another library with iPhoto. That imports the thumbnail, modified and original files as new files which is not what you want.*
What you can do is to use iPhoto Library Manager to merge the two libraries into a new, third library and use its duplication elimination features to cull out the duplicates. If the new library isn't what you want the original two libraries will be untouched.
Another possibility is to copy the Originals folder from your wife's library to the desktop and import that folder and subfolders into your library. I found that importing from folders on the HD do cull out duplicates successfully. Then you can copy your library to her laptop.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.

  • SAP Mobile app Stock photo not work for network location

    Hi Experts
I found if we use network location path (e.g.
servername\pic folder\) in SAP Business One General Settings -> Path, Picture Folder, then if we logon SAP B1 Mobile app from iPad/iPhone, and try to open stock photo, we will get error:
    Processing Failed
Internal server error: contact your system administrator
It looks like it only work for local path, e.g C:\pic
Even we put path as :
local pc name\pic folder, it is also not work.
    Any idea about this?
    Thanks

The first link is a temporary fix for a machine that only one or two people will use. This will not fix the Library Machines that some 3000 users can use at anytime. I can not pre-add all these users every time we image a machine. We also loan out laptops and I need these machine to wirelessly login dynamically to the domain. But I also need these machine to allow access if these machine are removed from our campus and the wireless access is not available.
Thank again for the help and I hope someone at Apple can fix this soon. I going to have a hard time telling the client that thay can not use the OS that came with they're machine.

  • Problems with "find nearby missing photos", not working like it should in LR4

After I imported photos into LR4 I decided to split the event within the same folder creating 2 subfolders and proceeded to move the files within the finder. Went to LR4 and synchronized the folder but it didn't fix the file location on the missing files. So I tried finding individual files and checked the "Find nearby missing photos" but this doesn't seem to work like it did in LR3, because it won't find any nearby missing files even though they are right there new to each other in the same folder.
I don't want to dremove them and re-import because I have added ratings and I fear I would loose this info if I did that...

Your assumption that you would loose your ratings and develop settings is correct, if you would re-import.
Reimporting is never a good idea.
For the rest you have two alternatives: either you reconnect one image after another, or you undo on OS level what you did in the first place, then execute the move inside LR.
Depending on how many images you moved this could actually be the fastest route out.
"Find nearby missing photos" did not work reliably for me either in LR3. I have never found out when it did and when not, so I have preferred to learn how to perform any such operation inside LR.
Another valid question is why you do not use collections for your desired split , and leave the folders as they were.
According to my prejudice MAC users would not be as conservative in sticking to folder structures as Windows users..;-))
Once you master LR folders could be very unimportant storage buckets, as every angle for organizing your images would be covered by (smart) collections and keywords and other metadata.
    Good luck, Cornelia

  • Email in photos not working in iPad 2

Email in iPad 2 not working , any one help me

Have you tried closing the Photos and Mail apps completely ? From the home screen (i.e. not with the Photos or Mail apps 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Photos and Mail apps to close them, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Photos not working--apple refuses to help me--wait till you hear why!

So on my new classic, half of my photos don't show up properly--it seems to be any photo I took w/ my Digital Rebel XT. They show up in the iPod-slowing menu animations...every thumbnail shows up in the thumbnail list...but when I view the album, they just show up as black slides. I can scroll thru the album and if non-Digital Rebel photos are in the same folder, they show up fine. Every single photo worked perfectly fine on my 5G.
So I call Apple and explain the problem. And they tell me they are unable to help me with this because the photos I'm using could have been pirated. They could get in serious trouble if they help me figure out what's wrong. They said the photos feature should be considered an "unsupported feature" and they can only assist with syncing photos.
I said you're joking. People play pirated music on their iPods way more than they pirate photos. If I had called because music wouldn't play on the iPod, does that mean they'd refuse to help me? She told me that they would only be able to help me if it were iTunes store purchased music that wouldn't play.
She suggested I visit the Apple website and the discussion boards and try to figure out why it's not working. SO HERE I AM, does anybody know why this may be happening? To recap: it seems to be photos from the Digital Rebel, they show up in all menu animations and as thumbnails, and they displayed perfectly on my 5G iPod.
    Zach

Thanks for letting me know someone else's work.
sRGB is Standard RGB right? If so, then according to Explorer, my photos are too. I also just tried changing something to Apple RGB thru Photoshop...it didn't work either.
I also don't have the full versions on the iPod, but I tried it both ways--they didn't work either way.
I agree that it seems unlikely this is a problem plaguing everyone. What I dont get though is why the same photos play just fine on my 5G, and even show up in the menu animations on the 6G. I'm using the exact same computer, exact same setup for both iPods. Ugh...so frustrating!!
Is it possible the iPod could just be defective? That doesn't feel like the problem here, but iono...? I've also been experiencing the slow menus and pauses some of us are discussing in another thread, but that seems to have improved as I keep using it.
    Thanks
    Zach

  • Sync photos not working

I am trying to sync my photos to the ipod and the computer has shut down twice during the process. I am using iTunes 7.2 on Vista. I can sync music no problem, just the photos is not working. I am not sure what to do.

good gracious ... i assume she's brand spanking new? (i've never seen an HP model before that only offers Vista downloads and drivers pages.)
anyhoo, i had a look at your downloads and drivers page:
Software & Driver downloads: HP Pavilion Slimline s7727c Desktop PC (Vista 32-bit)
what springs out at me is the Microsoft Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller Update. there is a problem with nVidia video cards on Vista boxes with SATA drives that typically manifests as poor computer performances and blue-screen restarts when playing video files, as described in the "Additional information" section of the following document:
Troubleshooting iTunes for Windows Vista video playback perfomance issues
the Microsoft Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller update/rollback has been been helping with that on HP desktop models. so i think it's worth checking to see if that update/rollback will help with the PC restarts you're getting with syncing photos.
(it's probably also worth checking to see if you're up to date on that NVIDIA Graphics Driver Update also being listed on your downloads page.)
do you still get the photo-syncing restarts after applying the updates from HP?

  • "merge duplicate contacts" - not working

I have roughly 3600 contacts, many of which are duplicate names. I ran 'merge duplicate contacts' and Address Book came back and advised there were 1500 duplicates (which seemed high but, hey). I said, yes, 'merge' and it went off for two to three minutes and finished. There was no change in the number of contacts! All dups were still there.
So I ran it again and Address Book found no duplicates, even though there are still as many as there were originally.
    Mystified.

    Hi,
I'm sure that people will be happy to help you if you would explain better your problem.
You simply wrote "is not working". Don't you think it is a bit too generic?
Do you get an Oracle error, data are not updated as expected?
We don't know what your problem is. Sorry.

  • Import photos not working

I am a computer dummy! I have had no trouble until now importing photos from my camera. When I connect my camera to computer a message appears - 'The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer' with options under this asking Initialize Ignore Eject. Welcome to the Apple user to user assistance forums
That is an OS message - not an iPhoto message
And note that all we know about your issue is what you tell us - so more is better
what computer are you connecting to?
    How are you connecting?
what laptop do you have that works?
How are you connecting to it?
Your Mac is not really seeing a camera - the camera is just acting as a card reader to mount the removable mass storage - the card
Since you can use the card on your laptop the first thing I'd try is downloading your photos to the laptop and then using the camera to reformat the card and see if that fixes it
If you are connecting via USB I'd try a different USB cable
I'd try a USB card reader
And depending on what your set up is and what you are trying there may be other things
