Duplicate photos displayed for connected devices

I have 1942 photos on the iphone but iphoto displays 3884(two of each) Same for the ipad; two of each.
All other functions of iphoto seem normal and the right number of photos are displayed for the Macbook Pro. Just the connected devices are doubled.
I have restarted macbook pro and iphoto and reconnected the devices but no change.
Lot of work to manually delete the duplicated pictures but seems like that might be the only way to fix. Any help is appreciated.

After rebooting both iphone and ipad and rebooting my Macbook pro it all seems to work.....Not sure what really caused the problem but fixed now. Thanks.

If you are using a Studio VII product, you get excellent tech support with them. Just send them a message via email. I had an issue with mobile devices and Studio VII's Slide Show Magic. They create a slide show that has a drop-down navigation system that one may move in all browsers except mobile browsers. So, if you are on a mobile device, the navigation (small icons of the pictures in the slide show) will be in the way of the slide show if you activate the menu.
I had a back-and-forth with Al Sparber where I requested help. He very quickly identified the problem and told me exactly what to change in the CSS for the drop-down navigation system. Boom! Done. As a result, I highly recommend his tools. They solve problems and, if there is a problem with the solution, he's there to solve any issues that arise. If you buy something from him, you get him to address any issues you have.
So, in my experience, you're safe in buying their products. They host very good tutorials for their products on their website and they'll hand-hold you for anything you throw at them and help you to manage stuff.

Wrong photo displaying for sender of iMessage

Wrong photo displaying for sender of iMessage .Contact information says another contact is "ME," it says ME next to anther contact, but it is not me. They are not signed in in icloud. I am signed in. So I do not understand

As per my post above, I believe the fix to be:
"When I got to General, I worked my way down the list and imagine my surprise when I found Siri of all things had her name down against it and not mine. Lo and Behold, when I changed this to my name and returned to iMessage, my photo now displayed against my replies.
So, if you have someone else's photo showing on your iMessage replies I strongly recommend you look at Settings > General > Siri first!"

No photos displayed on my device in iTunes

WWhen I connect my new iPhone to my computer running windows 8 and open I tunes "photos" is not displayed under my device. I am trying to unload some pictures on to my computer. Also when I connect the phone to the computer, the I phone is not recognized as a device., I also tried another computer running windows 7 and the phone is not recognized either. Thanks for any help

Since your iPhone isn't being recognized by iTunes for Windows, I would suggest taking a look at the following article:

Incorrect manufacturer and model for connected devices.

I have several devices connected to my Linksys EA4500. Two of them are my Apple Mac Pro and my Logitech Squeezebox Radio. For some reason, in 'Device List', my Apple Mac Pro has the manufacturer 'Logitech' and the model 'Squeezebox Radio'. As for my Logitech Squeezebox Radio, it doesn't have a manufacturer nor a model. It appears that there is a mix up with these two devices. I have cross checked the IP addresses and MAC addresses displayed in Cisco Connect Cloud with those displayed on the devices and they match - so it's not a case of mixed up names. Could this be an issue with Cisco Connect Cloud?

Try to delete those devices from the device list and then add them again.

What is the best & easiest duplicate photo finder for iphoto?

Would appreciate your feedback if you have used any programs and how well they worked for you. I am not a "techy" person, but need to find
a program that will allow me to locate duplicate photos, burn then to a disc and then delete the duplicate. Thank you for any advice!!

Zen Sleek Photo - Problems with connecting device to the comput

My zen sleek photo gives me this error message when I try to transfer nusic from Napster "Your portable device has stopped responding. To restart your transfer, please disconnect and reconnect your device. Tracks will begin transferring when the device is connected."?I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting, this does not work. I have also tried the recovery mode using the Clean up and reboot options. I am afraid to try Format and Reload Firmware, since my MP3 player continues to stop responding. I have also tried?installing Creative Zen Sleek PlaysForSure Firmware 2.0.03 and I get this error message "Your player is not connected please connect your player."? Disconnecting and reconnecting does not work here either. I was successful in initially transferring about 50 - 75 songs from Napster. I have also been able to and still can'transfer music from cd's to my MP3 player. It?appears as though Creative Media Explorer, Creative Media Source Player and?Creative Media Source Organizer are all operating OK with my MP3 player. Sorry, no I can't transfer music. You would first have to let WMP scan the folder where the songs are. Once they are in your Library section right click the songs and choose Add to Sync List. Then click on the Sync tab and click on Start Transfer and it should transfer over. After choosing Add to Sync List. Then click on the Sync tab and click on Start Sync I get this error message from WMP "Windows Media Player cannot access the file. EA4500 only displays maximum of 9 connected devices?

My EA4500 with the latest firmware will only display nine connected devices at a time. It also seems to randomly shuffle which devices to show as connected, even though several more than nine are connected and online. Does anyone else's device list limit itself to displaying only nine devices? The Linksys phone apps also display a maximum of nine devices. I like the routers new user interface and understand that it has received a lot of praise, however this is the second bug I've experienced in as many months (the first being a failure of the device list to update once devices are upgraded to Windows 8, requiring a reset to default settings in order to fix).

Still no luck. And incidentally, my Win8 computers have dropped off the device list again, along with my Win7 desktop connected via ethernet. That makes all 4 computers now missing from the device list, plus a network attached storage device also missing. All of these devices initially appeared on the device list, but have now disappeared. TV, Blu-ray and cellphones connect and update normally. Everything connects and operates normally, they just don't appear in the device list.
Linksys can't expect people to go through a device reset time and time again for what I know now to be just a temporary fix for this issue. At this price point especially.

Why does photo stream duplicate photos on iOS?

Until Yosemite comes out it seems that we're kind of stuck trying to figure out an "easy" way to have photos display on multiple devices. I've just started messing with iCloud & the photos and when I turn on photo stream it duplicates them into it's own folder. This just seems to be a massive headache and I don't want ALL my photos to sync but I also don't want to have to go through to make individual streams for everything I want to sync/share
Anyone have a solution to this or do we just sit tight and hope they fixed this in iOS8?
Seems like a big oversight/usability thing (much like having folders in photos be useless because you still have the master folder that everything stays in.)

The photos that appear duplicated are actually there from two separate locations:
1. Photo Stream
2. From your Mac, an iPhoto event with a name such as "Aug 2014 Photo Stream"
You can remove the photo from one of these sources on your Mac, and then you won't see what appear to be the duplication.

Using iMac as a display for MacBook Pro?

I understand that the new iMacs can be used as external displays but can not find any information on how this works. Is it just a matter of connecting a MacBook Pro to the iMac and hitting a key? Also, what cables do I need to get this to work?

Hey, I just got my 27" iMac last week and can verify that this works, as of a few minutes ago. I used the cable that converts from DisplayPort (the end that plugs into the iMac) and the mini DisplayPort (the end that connects to the MacBook Pro.
Plugged in the cable and the iMac screen flashed gray for a second, indicating, I guess, that the iMac had detected the external device. Then I could toggle it over with the Cmd-F2 keyboard trick. When you toggle it on, the iMac screen looks like a giant second monitor for the MacBook Pro. When you toggle it off, the screen switches back to your regular iMac desktop. When I first connected the cable, the MacBook screen dimmed briefly with an overlayed thermometer bar I hadn't seen before indicated some sort of calibration, perhaps? That took a few seconds, then it worked like a charm.
HOWEVER, if you are expecting the iMac to function as a second display for another device (like a PC, for example), the same trick DOES NOT work. This isn't clear in the documentation on apple.com and even some of the people in the Apple Store who I spoke to when I was buying it had not much clue about this, other than that it would work with a MacBook Pro. There's another device required (evidently) to make this work. Have had to order it, but have not tried it yet:

Duplicate photo albums

Hi,
Just a quick one. When I select the following:
1. one of my Apple TV's in the iTunes 'DEVICES' list
2. the 'Photos' tab for that device
3. the 'Sync photos from iPhoto' radio button (selecting iPhoto from the drop down)
4. the 'Selected albums' radio button
I see not only a list of the albums I've created in iPhoto but also a list of created and published web galleries. These web galleries have the same name as the albums so I'm getting duplicates.
Anyone know of anyway of not showing the web galleries here and thus getting rid of the duplicates?

SG200-08 Loosing MAC addresses of connected devices

I have a SG200-08 Switch that has in the last month been acting up with certain types of traffic. On June 7, 2013 I installed the 1.0.6.2 firmware upgrading from 1.0.5.1. Updating the firmware has not helped.
Last week Tuesday a server that was connected to that switch disappeared from the network, looking at the trouble I had to reboot the server and traffic began to flow. After rebooting the server I found only 1 of 2 MAC addresses from the 1 NIC showing up on the port.
Today I have a Xerox Workcenter connected to the switch on another port and while working on changing settings on the device I stopping being able to reach the device, could not even ping it. I went into the switch port showed active, but no MAC address found in the dynamic table for that port. After rebooting the switch I could reach the Xerox again.
I rebooted the switch on Friday near the end of the day and it was doing better till this morning, all MAC addresses for connected devices were showing up OK. Is the device defective? It had been working OK previously, it is connected to another switch on port 1, and that shows a proper table of dynamic MAC addresses. In both cases of loosing a device it was being used not dormant or in any kind of low power mode.

Based on the symptoms; SG200 working fine before, it seems to work ok after reboot, and latest firmware already installed. It seems to me like a hardware failure but still, in order to confirm, it would be a good idea to restore to factory conditions and configure it manually again. Empty Trash only on Connected Devices

I know that Mac OS X keeps a separate trash for connected devices, like SD Cards or USB Thumbdrives, and that to empty that trash one normally empties the trash for the whole computer, is there a way to empty only the trash on an external device?

I know this is an old thread - but I thought I'd add a current, simple, and perfect solution user Jacques Rioux just posted on my thread on the same topic, as follows:

This script removes the items from your trash (user ID) folder on the volume.
