Duplicate photos on iPad

Hi
I've just upgraded to iOS 7.0.6.
When viewing photos using the album tab everything appears fine, if I look at my photos via the photo tab I appear to have duplicates of every photo. Is this something to do with photo stream?
If viewing an individual photo I have the option to trash one of them but not the other?
Anyone know what's going on?
Thanks

  • Aperture 3.3 now adding duplicate photos to iPad

Since updating to Aperture 3.3  my iPad now has duplicate photos on it that it never had before. I have always (and have to for professional reasons) kept my RAW file and my processed TIF files in a stack with the TIF as the visible file. My iPad has always just added the TIF to the Photos album on the iPad. But since updating to 3.3 it now adds both to all albums which is a huge problem when trying to show my portfolio to clients.
I have deleted all photos and started agian but the problem persists. Anyone else having this problem? Any solutions?

That is a known problem since Aperture 3.3. Unfprtunately I don't know yet of any solution.
As a work around - you may want to set up the albums you are showing to your clients as smart albums. Then you can enable the "Stack picks only" flag. Or add a rule "File type is "tiff", to exlude the raw.

App for finding and deleting duplicate photos on ipad

Decloner will compare the files themselves, not just by name or size.
For the latest version and faster updates, also to give the developer a extra 30%, choose the developers site version, simply hold control or option key to temporarily turn off Mountain Lion's annoying Gatekeeper to run the app.

  • HT1386 duplicate photos on ipad sync

I have iMac with iTunes 11.01, new ipad4 with IOS6.0.1.  When I sync with iTunes and select only certain photo event, and choose 'no events' in addition to selection events, I still kept duplicates of every photo on the iPad.

Try deleting the photo cache from your computer and then re-try the photo sync and see if they then only appear once on the iPad - the location of the cache, and how to delete it, is on this page.

  • HT204022 i have several copies of my photos on my ipad under photos not photo stream    There is no delete button when I tap the duplicate photos.  How do I delete these pleas?

I have 4 and 5 copies of my photos under photos on my ipad.  I do not have a delete button to delete them.  Also, my icloud is upto date but my new photos are no longer streamimg to my photo stream.

Before deleting anything be sure they are actually duplicate photos.  If you create an album on your phone, then add photos to it from your camera roll, the photos in the album are not duplicates; they only contain links to the actual photos in camera roll.  (Albums are like music playlists; they don't contain the actual photo but just a link to it so that you can look at a subset of your photos.)  Thus, if you delete the photo from the camera roll it will be deleted from all albums that may have contained it (just as a song would be deleted from any playlist that contained it if you deleted the song from your music library).
Similarly, photos synced to your iPad from your computer are all contained in the photo library.  Just like albums created on your phone, any albums synced to your phone will only contain links to the actual photos in the photo library.  If you delete the photo from the photo library, it will be deleted from any albums that may contain it as well.  This video may help explain this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60MevRF53ck&feature=channel&list=UL.
All that said, you can delete photos from the camera roll by either opening them individually and tapping the trash can icon, or by opening the camera roll in the thumbnail view, tapping Edit, tapping all the photos you want to delete, then tapping the Delete button at the bottom.   To delete photos synced to your iPad from your computer you have to delete them by connecting your iPad to your computer, going to the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings, unchecking the photos you no longer want on your iPad, then syncing.  Photos in photo stream are deleted by opening the photo, then tapping the trash can icon.

  • Since I synced my ipad to my iMac I have duplicate photos appearing in the Photo section on my iPad and one can be trashed but the other one can't. How can I get rid of the ones without the trashcan?

Since I synced my ipad to my iMac I have duplicate photos appearing in the Photo section on my iPad and one can be trashed but the other one can't. How can I get rid of the ones without the trashcan?

Thanks so much. I was afraid to mess with that.  But when I unsynced them, it worked.

  • Why do I have so many duplicate photos on my iPad?

Somewhere along the line, the photos that I have on my iPad 2 got duplicated and all the event names were removed.
I think this happened when I upgraded to Lion and iOS 5
If I connect my iPad to my iMac, and select the iPad, I don't see any duplicates of my photos on the iPad
If I look at all my photos on my iMac, I don't see any duplicates either.
Why do I have so many duplicates on my iPad (so I donb't do this again!) and is there a way to easily remove them (if I do happen to cause the duplication again!) ?
    Regards,
    Jim P.

Use iCloud or iTunes to back up your phone. Then go online and delete all contacts from backup assistant.(it keeps them in the trash.) Then reset your phone and reload from your backup, then use backup assistant or Verizon cloud. Sounds like a lot but it doesn't take long.

  • HT4236 I cannot delete duplicate photos off of my IPad 2 which were synced on my computer?  I deleted dup from my PCM menu on the computer, but that did not get them off the iPad.

I cannot delete duplicate photos off my IPad 2 which were synced on my computer.  I deleted duplicates from My pictures on my computer, but they were still duplicated when I added them back.

  • How to hide duplicate photos that origins from the photo stream and imported photos?

    Hi,
I are using my camera both with an IPad (through SD-card reader) and directly to my iMac.
I want to keep the full photo archive on the iMac.
Now the problem, that I encounter, is that if I use the iPad to look at the photos, those photos will be transfered to the photo-stream.
Then later when I import all my photos from the camera to the i Mac, those photos that I happened to import to the iPad will show up as duplicate in iPhoto.
Of course I only want one copy of a photo regardless if they arrive from the photo-stream or through a direct import to my iMac.
Is there a way to fix this problem or is it simply a bug?
I think it would be rather easy for the iPhoto software to detect duplicates and hide them.

You can use one of these applications to identify and remove duplicate photos from an iPhoto Library:
    iPhoto Library Manager - $29.95
Duplicate Annihilator - $7.95 - only app able to detect duplicate thumbnail files or faces files when an iPhoto 8 or earlier library has been imported into another.
PhotoSweeper - $9.95 - This app can search by comparing the image's bitmaps or histograms thus finding duplicates with different file names and dates.
DeCloner - $19.95 - can find dupicates in iPhoto Libraries or in folders on the HD.
DupliFinder - $7 - shows which events the photos are in.
iPhoto AppleScript to Remove Duplicates - Free
Some users have reported that PhotoSweeper did the best in finding all of the dups in their library: i photo has duplicated many photos, how...: Apple Support Communities.
If you have an iPhone and have it set to keep the normal photo when shooting HDR photos the two image files that are created will be duplicates in a manner of speaking (same image) but the only duplicate finder app that detected the iPhone HDR and normal photos as being duplicates was PhotoSweeper.  None of the other apps detected those two files as being duplicates as they look for file name as well as other attributes and the two files from the iPhone have diffferent file names.
iPLM, however, is the best all around iPhoto utility as it can do so much more than just find duplicates.  IMO it's a must have tool if using iPhoto.

  • All my photo libraries in my iPhone have duplicate photos since I have installed IOS 6.  Please help.

All my photo libraries in my iPhone have duplicate photos since I have installed IOS 6. I work with Aperture 3.3 not iPhoto! Also, most of the photos in my camera library have been deleted without my consent! I'm very ****** about that! Please help.

Photos in Photo Library are the ones that you've synced from your iTunes to your iPad. To free up space, you should delete these photos on your Photo Library since you already have the copies on your computer: Connect your iPad with your computer > Launch iTunes > click your iPad and navigate to Photos window > check Sync Photos from > select an empty folder and click Apply to carry out the syncing. After then, all photos in your Photo Library will be deleted.
As for photos in Camera Roll on your iPad, you should copy them to your computer for backup and deleted the copies on your iPad:Import photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your Mac or Windows PC - Apple Support

  • HT201317 duplicate photos with photo stream

Does anybody get duplicate photos with photo stream?  If so, how do you stop this happening?

    Hey Seth221,
Welcome to Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you want it so that when you take a photo on one device (your iPhone), it automatically appears on all of your other devices (your iPad). I'd first make sure Photo Stream is enabled on your iPad and iPhone by going to Settings > iCloud > Photo Stream, and turn on My Photo Stream and Shared Photo Streams. I'd also read through the Photo Stream FAQ here and see if that answers any further questions:

  • Syncing photos from iPad to iMac

I have tried several times to sync my photos from iPad to my computer and I get to a point when the import just stops and it is stuck on the picture and it doesn't finish syncing. Every time I tried to sync, it seems that it creates a duplicate of the photos on my computer that were transfered. Very frustrating. I'm not able to sync all my photos from my iPad.
Any ideas how I could do this?

    Hi,
Try deleting the iPod photo cache.
