Duplicate / Repeat Emails being downloaded

Occasionally, I'd say twice a month, my iPhone decides to re-download emails that I've already read and deleted. It downloads them in batches of 50. Niether syncing nor powering off and back on resets the device. I have to manually delete about 200 emails to get it back to normal. Any suggestions as to why this is happening?

Sounds like server overload. Delete them from the server and they will disappear from the iPad. POP accounts do not work well with iOS

When I am logged in MS Outlook on my laptop and my Blackberry Q10 is nearby if I receive an e-mail in Outlook the same email arrives on my BB repeating itself until I disconnect from MS Outlook in my laptop. Does anyone know how to correct this repeated delivery of email messages?

2. Are the problematic messages from certain sender or each sender?
At this stage, please run Message Tracking tool and check whether the missing email can be detected. Also, please run ExBPA and scan the whole system.

Not all email's being downloaded

My most recent email's are being downloaded from the past few days, but not old ones that are stored on the server.
OS - Windows 7
Email client - Windows live Mail, Version 2011 Build 15.4
Error Quote - Unable to send or receive messages for the XXXXXXX account. Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity.
Server: 'mail.btinternet.com' Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0F Protocol: POP3 Port: 110 Secure(SSL): No
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Login to webmail, you probably have an e-mail with a large attachment which cannot be downloaded.

Outlook links to my Exchange Account, I can send, but although the Progress screen indicates emails are being downloaded nothing at all is displayed in the inbox folders.

What version of Exchange Server are you trying to connect to?
Entourage can connect to Exchange Server 2003, but Outlook 2011 cannot. With Outlook 2011, you need at least Exchange Server 2007.
If you happen to be trying to connect to Exchange Server 2003 with Outlook 2011, then two typical workarounds are:
- If IMAP is turned on on Exchange Server 2003 -- it's off by default -- you can connect via IMAP rather than Exchange.
- If you don't have IMAP but have Outlook Web Access, then you can use DavMail as a workaround.

Repeated email downloads AGAIN!

I thought I had it figured out, but apparently NOT!
I just reinstalled OSX and I still keep getting repeated email deliveries. What is going on?

It was a pop account.
I made a new mail account. DARN!!!! I miss under stood you.
OK Here is the kicker..... I just - deleted my mail account and started a new one. Guess what......... I received all the messages you and I emailed. A total of 7. But before I did not delete them so they were on my server, correct?

try to duplicate the problem when you make a new User account on your Mac:
- open System Preferences, Accounts
- click the + sign and make a new User
- switch to the new user account (appears top right when you click on your user name)
- start Mail and enter your email account settings
- try sending a Mail
If this duplicates your problem, the Mail program itself maybe corrupt and you may need to re-install. You will find solutions for that on this forum.
If this does not duplicate your problem, the pref file in your user account may be damaged. Do the following:

In Mail, contacts, calendars settings, I do not have a "Show" option to show 50 or 100 messages. The problem is all my mail is being downloaded and filling up my phone. How do I get the option to show a certain amount of emails?

I am missing the "Show" option in the mail settings on my iphone. This is causing all of my emails to download and takin up a lot of space. How can I get that "show 50 messages" back? It is completely not there.

Same for me...that option seems to have gone away and I cannot figure out how to get more emails to show up.

Duplicate emails being received

Years back I signed up for mac.com emal address and seldom used it. I recall vaguely being able to forward a copy to my cablevision email account, a 'optonline.net' account. I can't remember what I did but now I'm using my mac.com email regularly, with variations under me.com and icloud.com. And I like to stop getting copies of the same email being sent to my optonline.net.
But I can't figure out how to stop this....any ideas?

With Mail you can forward email with rules so check your Mail > Preferences > Rules and see if you have one setup.

If not, iCloud can also automatically forward emails.
iCloud: Forward all messages automatically
See if either of those are forwarding your email.

Some email is downloaded into Mail and some mail is left on the POP server

Hi All,
I have a weird problem where some email is downloaded into Mail and some mail is not.
If I log into our ISP's webmail system, there are a whole bunch of emails that are just sitting there. These emails have not ever been downloaded to Mail.
I've tried to create a duplicate account, but Mail doesn't allow the same username & password in more than one account, which is kind of frustrating - I get an error stating that these user details are already in use.
Our ISP says it's the client machine, as no one else in the office is having this issue.
The connection doctor can connect to the servers and 30 or 40 emails are downloaded to Mail each day - just some emails don't.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Assuming the account is a POP type account, quit Mail first and using the Finder go to Home > Library > Mail > this POP account named folder (named by the user name and incoming mail server for the account) > MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded2.
Delete the MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded2 file and empty the Trash.
Launch Mail and a new MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded2 file will be created automatically by Mail within the account named folder.
If successful, any previously downloaded messages that remain on the server will be downloaded again along with any messages available on the server not yet downloaded by Mail.
The reason you cannot create two accounts in Mail with the same user name and incoming mail server is based on the account and associated mailbox filing structure within the Mail folder at Home > Library > Mail. When creating an account in Mail, an account named folder is created at the first level within the Mail folder named by the user name and incoming mail server for the account.
In addition, if this were possible I don't think it would resolve much by having identical accounts created in Mail with both accounts checking the incoming mail server at the same time.

How to prevent swf files being downloaded

People,
I'm a teacher and I have some animations made in flash language (swf). I would like to publish these animations on my web site so my students could see, but I wonder if there is any way to prevent these animations being downloaded.
Example: when I see an animation published on my web site, this animation is stored in Internet Temporary Files and I can save this animation anywhere. How can I prevent an animation is stored in the temporary folder? In other words, this animation can only be seen if the user is logged on the site.

You could implement a kind of time-barrier, like in the trial versions you
download from softwarecompanys.
For the most users, that are not understanding actionscript and know how to
read the code, even if they decompile it, that would prevent the swf being
played after a certain date that you would have to implement in your code.

I'm wondering if there is a way to stop your images from
being downloaded off your website without using Flash.

Cant see some mail.. something about the email wasnt downloaded.. help..

Couple times a day, I get this message:
The message from "amber ruiz" <[email protected]> concerning “Customer Contact: Website Time-Out” has not been downloaded from the server. You need to take this account online in order to download it.
Not that exact message mind you, as its for different emails from different people. The only way to see the email is to restart mail. Then I can see it just fine. Anybody know why this is happening?

When I open the folder "INBOX.mbox" I see two items. One is a file called "Info.plist" , and the other is a Folder named "Messages". With-in that folder named "Messages" is nothing,,, it is empty. Which bothers me because I HAD 5 messages in that accounts box that I was holding on to because they said that thing (about not being downloaded from server, etc..)...
BUT then like I said, I "Rebuilt" that accounts mailbox thinking that would help me, but with no warning alert or anything, it just seemed to clean up that box and the messages just disappeared in front of my eyes !!
But I thought for sure they would still be somewhere on my hard drive.....
Am I mistaken ?? And because there is no files in that folder named "Messages" does that mean I have absolutely NO messages from that account to dig up from anywhere ??

Ios 8.1.3 emails keep downloading to iphone

After updating my iPhone 5 to IOS 8.1.3 2 weeks ago my emails are continually being downloaded to my Mail even after they have been deleted from my PC email inbox. It's a POP 3 account and I'm not changing it to IMAP. There is no longer any limit to set on IOS to stop them. I've tried 'marking all as read' and deleting them but they reappear hours/days later. I've reinstalled the email account 5 days ago and that worked till now but suddenly they are all back again. This never happened on previous IOS versions and why the function was removed is beyond me! This is a common problem apparently but Apple don't seem to have a solution to it and its damned annoying! Anyone help?

I finally managed to restore the phone back to factory settings after 24 hours of hassle. I waited until the battery was flat, and held the home button whilst plugging it into iTunes and waiting until the computer recognised the phone. This did take five attempts, but it finally has restored my phone.

What do I do when the rebuild function doesn't work on my email? It still saying I have 108 emails left on one of my accounts even though there are no emails being shown...

I have Lion 10.7.5 and it says that I still have 108 emails on one of my accounts (Microsoft outlook live) even though there aren't any email being shown. And when I try to access my account on the Outlook Web App, there aren't any emails there either. I've tried the rebuild function and it doesn't do anything...what's my next move?

It's rude, obviously I know now not to do something like download something like that to my computer. It's not the difficult to figure out, and obviously I'm suffering the consequences for it now. POP email is downloaded as already read

Im using Outlook2003 with OCFO 9.0.4.2 to connect to my corporate oracle calendar server. I dont have the OCFO configured to use IMAP or SMTP, so what Ive done is add another pop account that uses pop3 and SMTP to download my corporate email. That email is delivered to the OCFO storage files.
Everything worked yesterday when I installed it, but now all my email is being downloaded as already read!
Please if anyone has any clue to how I can fix it I will be grateful!

Do you use other clients then Outlook to read you
mail? The web mail for instance?
Im not sure about the settings in 9.0.4, but in
10.1.x you have a setting in Enterprise Manager where
you can configure POP General Parameters.
Here you will find a parameter called POP3
Retrieval which can be set to ALL or UNREAD.
If you set this to ALL, the POP client will download
all messages to the POP client, even though you have
opened the mail in a different client, but if it is
set to UNREAD, only new/unread messages with be
downloaded to the POP client.
Does this solve your problem, or is the case that ALL
email messages you get are automatically marked as
read?

AndréNo, this doesnt solve it. I did try it from another client though. What I did was download the mail with the OFCO connector installed, using pop3. Then all my messages came in as already read. Then I downloaded all my mail with thunderbird, and they all came in as unread.
Any other ideas?
