Duplicate songs in iTunes Match

I've seen a few threads on this, but no results, and I've got a few details to add.
After I sync'd up iTunes Match there is one album in particular (possibly more) that has 5 tracks that were duplicated. This is an album that I have recently purchased from iTunes. They are only duplicated on my iPhone, the album looks fine in iTunes. When I delete the duplicate song on my iPhone it stays available, just with a cloud next to it.
Here's the big key I think: When I delete the album from iTunes and select to delete from iCloud as well, those same 5 songs will still show on my iPhone. They've got the cloud next to them, but it won't let you download them or play them. If I add the album back into iTunes I get the same problem as before.
Hopefully these details help, any ideas are more than welcome.

Don't know if this is what your talking about but I'll try.
I had an issue where two songs showed up gray on my phone and yet they did not show up on my computer.
I turned match off on my phone. Plugged it into the computer, clicked on the music tab under the phone name and then deleted everything off of my phone. I unchecked music and done this until nothing showed up on the music app on my phone.
I then chose manually add music and add a couple of songs.
I then turned match back on, on the phone and the greys songs are gone.
Don't know if that helps.
My first suggestion is to turn match off and let it take everything off of your phone. Then turn it back on.

I just found the answer by myself. Instead of clicking Cloud icon one by one, highlight all the songs in Cloud (after sorting by Cloud status) and riight click, download. Now I am getting all the songs back to my local machine. I will sync my iOS devices tomorrow and just GET RID OF iTUNES MATCH. To me, it was a disaster. Worse than their map app.

How do I delete/hide songs from iTunes Match? When I mark them, and delete them (and yes, I mark the box where it says delete from the cloud as well), they just reappear once I sync with itunes match again. (the symbol available for download appears). Is there a way to completely remove the tracks?
(And no, I don't just want to hide them (in the menu), since the tracks will appear in my iPhone anyways).

A friend of mine with a large CD collection and I share music. The trouble is that in the process of exchanging music we have created quite a number of duplicates.

you aren't missing this. Show duplicates is NOT a tool to allow to simply select all and hit deleted. It is showing you the duplicates, one beside the other, to allow you to discriminate two songs having the same name but that may not be duplicate. For exemple, they may be two different version of a same song and that you want to keep them. For this reason, automated process are somehow risky to loose also song that you want to keep.

Personnally, I would still discriminate duplicated songs manually by reviewing the list of "show duplicate" to avoid deletion of song I wish to keep. I also have a quite large library and found many songs having the same name and not being duplicates.

From the backup you maintain in case something drastic happens to your collection as it surely will when your drive crashes, the computer is stolen, etc.?
Are the files in the trash? I don't let iTunes manage my music so when I delete a track I have to hunt down the file, drag it to the trash, and empty the trash in order to get rid of it. I don't know how iTunes does it for others.

Ho attivato l'iTunes Match, che funziona correttamente sul pc e sull'iPhone 4S.
L'ho attivato anche sul mio iPad, ma, tuttavia, dopo un breve periodo in cui ha funzionato correttamente, ha iniziato a dare problemi.
Vi descrivo di seguito ciò che ho rilevato:
- il periodo in cui l'iTunes Match ha funzionato correttamente sull'iPad è durato solo qualche settimana;
- in seguito, anche se tutti i brani della Cloud venivano visualizzati sull'iPad, dava problemi nel senso che i brani non venivano riprodotti e, inoltre, la durata veniva indicata in "zero" per tutti i brani, sicchè, cliccandoci, non venivano riprodotti;
- ho provato a disattivare e riattivare l'iTunes Match e, a questo punto il dispositivo ha dato il messaggio "tutta la tua libreria musicale verrà sostituita con quella su iTunes Match", mentre, nell'applicazione "MUSICA" erano spariti tutti i brani: veniva visualizzata, al centro della pagina, la nuovoletta del Cloud, con una barra di download sotto. Questo è durato per circa quattro giorni, senza che succedesse nulla, nel senso che la barra del download non mostrava segni di caricamento;
- allora ho provato a ripristanare le impostazioni e, a questo punto, erano visualizzati di nuovo i brani, ma comunque senza possibilità di riprodurli (la durata di nuovo indicata come "zero");
- nel momento in cui ho provato a cliccare su uno dei brani, è riapparsa la nuvoletta del Cloud con la barra di download sotto;
- quando i brani ricompaiono, hanno sempre durata zero e non vengono riprodotti;
- ho attivato anche la condivisione in famiglia ma il problema non cambia.

Downloading a missing song with iTunes Match

On my second computer I had downloaded a song and it was deleted. iTunes now displays the missing file question mark. There is no option to download or play the song from iTunes Match. My assumption, is that if I delete the track it will delete from Match also. Is that correct? and also is there a way to download the song without rebuilding my iTunes library file ?

If you delete it, it will ask you if you want to delete from Match, select no. After that you will be able to redownload from the cloud hitting the cloud icon (if it was matched/uploaded to cloud in the first place).

What you want to do actually has nothing to do with iTunes Match. What you need to do is enable automatic downloads in iTunes. Open iTunes prefs > Store and select the option for, at least, "music" and click OK. Now any music you buy will be downloaded to your iTunes library automatically. But iTunes will need to be running for this to happen.

Unless you have an Internet connection you cannot access iCloud. You can download your music from iCloud to store permanently on your iPhone, but only when you have an Internet connection to do so.

Is there a way to "merge" duplicate songs in iTunes 11?

Turns out I have numerous duplicate songs in iTunes (which has been problematic for iCloud). I'm only finding one way to handle them: delete them manually. However, if I do this, it also deletes the song from any Playlist the song's in.
Is there a way to "merge" any dupes, so that my Playlists will remain intact?

Here's a way to do what you're trying to do:
Control-click on one of the duplicate songs. Scroll down and look under "Add to Playlist". There may be a "Show in Playlist" entry there. If there is, that song is in at least one playlist (which you can see by clicking the right arrow). If there is no "Show in Playlist" entry, that song is not in a playlist.
