Duplicated events goof.

I mistakenly duplicated an event thinking I was duplicating a project (still new at this). Now I have two events dependent on each other for clips, although they're both identical in every way. If I move one event to another folder, the remaining event is missing footage. Is there an easy way to turn them into one event?

If you want to do this…

  • Duplicated events on iCal, and even more on iPod calendar

I am using the latest version of Mac OS X Lion and an iPod Touch 2G with the latest compatible iOS update (4.2.1)
I gave iCloud a try, but after syncing with my iPod, I wouldn't be able to create or edit events in my iCloud calendars (which were previously the "On My Mac" Calendars)
I decided to stop syncing iCal with iCloud so that I would be using "On My Mac" calendars that could be modified on my iPod.
I exported each calendar. Stopped syncing with iCloud (which deletes those calendars from my mac) and then imported them within new calendars that were named and organized as I previously had.
However, I started seeing duplicate or multiple event entries on my Mac and on the iPod Touch.
I tried to delete the duplicates from the Mac, and some of them delete, some don't.
It is weird because I have duplicates of the Address Book Birthday calendar too, which shouldn't have duplicated events that cannot be deleted.
Another thing that happens is that in iCal there are events that appear correctly, just one time. But checking on my iPod, I see the same event 7 times!
Please, somebody help and guide me. I am a heavy user of the calendar on both devices and need a fix soon.
    Thanks!

I have the exact same problem.
    Can't figure it out.
It is very annoying and time consuming deleting the duplicate items.

  • Duplicated events on iCal after moving to iCloud

Hi, i just updated mi iphone 4 to iOS5, then updated iTunes, then updated OSX Lion to 10.7.2, then moved to icloud...
Everything seems to be ok, but there's a problem: my events duplicated on iCal in my macbookpro...
    Every input has cloned itself!
But, when checking on icloud and on my iphone, no duplicates!
So... what should i do?, 'cause if i delete a duplicated event from iCal in my computer, leaving only one, the event erases at all in iCloud and in my iPhone...
    Weird.
    Any suggestions?
I appreciate your time, thank you!

Hi Jorge. I just went through this entire process. I was able to rid myself of duplicates, however, I am still trying to figure out how to match a hard copy to my Mac without creating duplicates.
    - Make sure you have your events on the Mac
    - Go to iCloud on phone and turn off iCloud on everything (for now). It will tell you it will delete everything off iCloud (this is fine if you have everything you need on your Mac).
    - Go into iTunes on Mac and "turn of Sync with this iPhone over Wi-fi" & check "back up to this computer"
-Go to info tab in iTunes on Mac. Check sync "contacts" & sync "calendars"
    - While you are in the info tab also check "calendars" & "contacts" in the Replace Information on This iPhone section under Advanced.
    - Synch
    - If everything matches up properly go back to iPhone and turn iCloud back on for what you want
    - Go to iCal on Mac and in the top left hand corner there is a "calendar" button that when you click it, it shows calendars for "On my Mac" and "iCloud".
    - You can delete the "On my Mac" calendars to rid yourself of the duplicates.
***This is how I did it. You may be able to just delete the "On my Mac" calendars but I am not sure if that will take them off of iCloud and your iPhone. You can give it a try first as it may be less time consuming.
So, my issue is still trying to figure out how to keep matching calendars as a backup on Mac without the duplicates. Any takers?

  • My calendar keeps duplicating events.

My calendar keeps duplicating events.  I noticed it happened after I turned the iCloud calendar back on.  It ask me to merge events. Help anyone?

You get duplicates, one from iCloud and another when you sync with your computer, IF iTunes is set to sync from the computer to the iPhone. Check your device settings (general tab, IIRC) in iTunes.

  • ICal randomly duplicating events

iCal randomly duplicated events (sometimes twice, other 3 times) after the last sync of my iPhone. I've had, & continue to have this problem with repeating holidays which were transfered from my Palm but now I've got countless duplicate "normal" events over at least the last 6 months. In the past iCal has duped events & simultaneously change the dupe's time slightly but this time they are direct copies. I just finished correcting them manually. For future problems is there any way to automatically remove duplicates? More importantly, is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening?

    Hi John,
Thanks for the information, sorry for the delay in my response -went out of town for a few days. iCal Dupe Deleter sounds seems to be just what the doctor ordered to remedy this situation next time it occurs.
As to my second question, do you, or anyone out there know why this happens or how to avoid it in the future?

  • Duplicated events

My manager emailed me our work schedule and since we have tons of duplicated events, it is being rejected by icloud. How do I allow the duplicates to stay?

Open the calendar application on your Mac and create a new iCloud calendar with an appropriate name (such as Work Schedule) by going to Calendar>New Calendar>iCloud.  Then import the .ics file to the new calendar by going to File>Import>Import, navigate to your .ics file.  When prompted to choose where to import it. click the drop-down menu and select the new iCloud calendar you just created and Import.  Wait until the rotating wheel at the top of the left sidebar disappears and you new calendar should appear in iCloud.
You shouldn't encounter any duplicate event errors because you are importing it into a separate calendar.

  • I cal duplicating events after Lion install.

I just installed Lion on my macbook but I seem to be having a problem with ical. Its duplicated all my events but when I try to delete the duplications the whole event disappears. The calendar syncs with gmail but I've never had a problem with duplicates before. Any one got any ideas as to how to fix this?

    sisters4,
I too get the Confirmation of the 30 days after I check the box. However after I say "Yes" I can change the number to whatever I would like.
Hope that helps with your issue.

  • Calendar on Palm TX - duplicating events

I often want to duplicate events on my TX (as opposed to creating repeating events). All I seem to be able to do is to copy and paste the text of an event, but I still have to put in the times of the event once it's been duplicated. I didn't have to do this on Window Mobile. Is there any way round this problem?
    Post relates to: Palm TX

    Hello!
The Calendar app does not have an option to duplicate event due to the option of making reocurring events.  So the only option for the practice you do is copy the text and then paste it into a new event.  You could probably check out a 3rd-party application called DateBook6 for this desired feature.

  • N97 iCal iSync Duplicating events

    Hello All,
1st post for me on here! I have had a look on the both iSync & iCal discussions but couldn't find an answer to help me so i'll post my question, small problem so hope someone can answer.
I got my iCal & address book on my Mac all nice & tidy then sync'd it to my N97 (which was new so nothing on it). After the Sync, my contacts & calendar on my N97 were looking great, the following day when I sync'd again to update a few new contacts the calendar on my N97 & the iCal on the Mac have duplicated every event! I can see all the original events but the duplicates are all there in one colour no matter what they represent (i.e. birthdays, work, etc). Is there a straight forward way in removing the duplicates & stop it from happening again?
I've tried a 3rd party app but it couldn't see the duplicates!
    Many thanks for any help.

    Hi,
I have just had a similar problem. I am not sure if it applies to you but hey here we go...
Basically i have 5 tabs on my ical calender i.e red, blue, green etc for three different buildings i manage. Now heres the crucial bit, when isync adds to the phone for the first time it only puts the events on the phone in one colour ( in my case the blue tab) so when you sync for the second time the ical calender sees all these blue events and thinks they are new events and duplicates! once you have removed the duplicates the problem should resolve...
    Cheers. Hope this has helped.

  • Calendars duplicated, events replicated moving to iCloud

I'd like to use iCloud. I really would. But every time I try moving my calendars (iCal) to the Cloud, 2 calendars are partially duplicated (each splits into 2 calendars with the same name, some events in both calendars but neither containing all the events of the original), and many events are replicated, sometimes many times. Any idea how I can get "clean" copy of my calendars in iCloud?

What do you mean by that? From what I'm reading we wont be able to use iCloud features without Lion anyway.

  • Duplicated events on iCal after .mac sync

    Thre facts:
    I have a TREO600, a desktop mac, and a powerbook, both running Tiger 10.4.4.
Due to some other problems with syncing the TREO, I have purchased the Missing Sync from MarkSpace, and that works very well to sync the palm with the desktop.
I started syncing my two computers with .mac lately, and I have nothing but trouble. Nearly every sync throws up some conflicts, often about events that have long passed. I went through the long list of conflicts EVERY time this happens, but iSync seems to complain about new conflict nearly everytime I sync.
Moreover, it seems to duplicate certain (but not all) events on my iCal after it has synced with .mac.
This is super annoying. I have seen that there are many different posts on duplication already, but none of them seem to match my problem, though there definetly seems to be a general problem with iSync not being very good at checking for duplicates.
Any ideas how to solve this?
    thanks,
    marc

Because you are running the Missing Sync for Palm OS in a Mac OS X 10.4 or later environment, the synchronization of your data is a separate process controlled by .Mac Sync. In order to correct the issue, you should perform a reset, replacing all of the records on .Mac with the records from iCal and the Address Book, which should, incidently, be contemporaneous with your Treo 600 smartphone.
To do that, launch System Preferences and select the .Mac pane. Press the Advanced tab, then the Reset Sync Data… button in the lower left corner of the dialog box. Reserve the default directional data transfer from .Mac to your machine by pressing the right-facing arrow beneath the .Mac icon. This will shift directional flow so that data moves from your computer to the .Mac servers. You can keep the Replace: All Sync Data value in the drop-down menu above, or choose to synchronize only one data type [Calendars or Contacts] by selecting the appropriate value. If you synchronize them separately, you must repeat this process for the other data type.
This event will transfer a complete set of records from iCal and the Address Book to the appropriate storage locations on the .Mac servers, replacing the non-matching data currently stored there. It will not affect your continued use of the Mark/Space Contacts, Events and Tasks menu, and will not change the data stored on your handheld the next time you synchronize.

  • Moving Projects; Duplicating Events- Problem

Hi, I know that I can copy events and projects from an internal drive to external storage device by dragging them to the connected drive; moving them by holding down the command key while dragging.
The problem I'm having is that events that are referenced by multiple projects are being copied each time i copy over a project that references the event resulting in multiple instances of the event on the external drive. If I copy the first project and then copy a different project, i'm told that "clips used in the project are not the hard disk..." But the event with the clips ARE already there on the external drive. (I can tell they're there because if I select the project on the external drive and then select the event in the Event Library, there's a little red line on the clip indicating that's it's been used in the selected project)
    Am I missing something here?
    Thanks for any help
    Chris

Thanks so much for responding! That all makes sense, and I was concerned about editing from the server directly because of bottlenecking, so I will continue to have my current project on my local drive and then move it later.
Can you clarify this for me:
"create a sparse disk image on the server, mount it"
Does that mean I create a "shortcut" on my desktop to the area in the server where it goes and then archive my projects to it?
One more question, when I hide my events/files as you show in your screenshot, isn't it still housing my footage on my local drive and therefore eating up space?
A  disk image is a special kind of file that you can double click and mount as if it were a hard disk.
The word "sparse" means that it will grow only as you add content to it. So you can create a sparse disk image with size, say, 50GB, but if you only add files that occupy 1GB, that's the space it will take on disk; it will grow as needed to accomodate more files (assuming the actual disk where the image resides has available space, of course). You create disk images in Disk Utility.
You probably have used disk images a lot without maybe realizing it. The dmg files that contain installers for many applications are disk images.
Regarding the hidden events: yes, if they are still on the drive they will still occupy space. If the matter is freeing space on the drive, this will not help; but if the matter is making FCP X work faster and use less memory, it will.
And you could just as well take the events and "hide" them in a different drive.

  • ICal duplicating events

My ipod touch iCal duplicates events.  Even after I've deleted them they come back.  I sometimes have six or seven of the same event in a day.  I'm just about to give up and stop using it and try another app.  This seems to be an old problem.  I've found instances on here dating back to 2009.  Haven't they fixed it yet?? Any ideas?

    Hi,
Are the events in the same calendar or different ones? You can check this by showing and hiding calendars.
    Best wishes

  • Duplicating events by itself

    Hi All,
I am just having a problem here that least once a day this event starts on it own. It just make new events on it's own. This what happens to events:
Then when I press ok. This error message show up:
Does anyone here can help me on this?
    Thanks,
    ajberland

You could before. Apple has stopped selling it by itself. You still may be able to find a copy from a third party store, although future upgrades may only be for the full suite (more $$$).

  • Generate duplicated event by Event ID

    Hello everyone,
I have lots of events that were generated in SAP by a custom user. By that time, someone in BASIS blocked the user WF-BATCH.
So the events were generated correctly (they all have the green status) but none could create the workflow because of WF-BATCH being blocked.
Because this list is huge, I want a program/transaction/function were I could give the event ID, and then system could read the container of this event and generate another event as a copy.  Otherwise I will have to use SWUE and replicate it one by one!
Does anyone know if there's any standard solution for this?
    Thanks in advance!
    Kind regards,
    Carla Sousa

    Hello,
It is very unlikely that such a program exists. You would have to create it yourself.
Were the events lost - that is, they're not waiting in a queue to be released? That is often the case when there is an error of this sort, if the system has been set up for that.
I hope you had the event trace turned on. If so, you can find the events in table SWFREVTLOG.
