What causes duplicated phone listing on my iphone 4? How do i stop this from happening? Can i view my phone listings i itunes?

Thanks for getting back to me. You will likely need to erase all the contacts either manually or with a master reset. An important thing to note is if the contacts are duplicated in your syncing source. If so, you will need to manually fix the duplicates before syncing.
1) Erase all contacts from the phone after ensuring that the contacts are properly stored on the PC you are syncing with.
2) Sync the phone with the PC that has the correct contacts.
3) Ensure that you only sync with 1 PC to prevent duplicate contacts from appearing.
Steps to erase iPhone.
*Note: Depending on how many contacts you have, it may be easier to delete the duplicate contacts manually and back it up using iTunes.

Phone directory - mass text formating

Hi,
I had question concerning tabs and leaders and figured it out with the help of the forum but I am having trouble with some other things. Please share your thoughts on the following.
My task:
- I need to take a excel file (or csv) (see attached file) That has about 6,000 phone directory listing entries ( Name, Address, Phone number) and pull it into my document (Indesign) and format it exactly like the the old phone directory was done (see attached sample indesign file).
- The white pages format is: Name+(2 spaces)+Address+(leader periods that expand or retract as needed)+Phone number
- for the names and addresses that are to long for the first line I will need to kick the Address and phone number to the next line with a hanging indent I think it is called, at .0625 inches.
- I am obviously trying not to have to put in spaces and returns for 6,000 entries. For the spaces maybe I can use some style with a en or em space or nested style?
- I am wanting to format the type once, however Indesign would do that.
- So how do I do this with Indesign or even some other inexpensive plugins. I understand if some of this cant be done in Indesign but just let me know what you think.

- The Indesign file sample of about 7pages is extracted from the 178 page previous Phone directory. Disregard it being messy, cutting up the document made things shift but you will see how it is formated from pages 4-7. Disregard any notice for missing links to images.

In reality, your Excel file probably has separate columns for Address1, Address2, Town, State, etc. Just put in unique number codes in every column and collapse them to spaces or commas, as appropriate, in Indesign.

I've notified the appropriate people that the file is still queued.
Indeed Data Merge is useful for this kind of work (said without seeing the files), but you get a separate frame for each record, which can be a pain, so I'm not sure it's any easier. You need a script (I think Peter Kahrel wrote one) to thread the frames when you are done.
To further complicate things, there are a number of problems reported in CS4's data merge which were not present in earlier releases, most having to do with empty fields in a record.

Hello, first time poster here!
I have a Samsung myshot A, and I have an upgrade available that allows me to have discounted prices. (I am not sure how to know if it is an annual or contract related upgrade)
Anyways, I'm looking at a couple Droids and the iPhone. Do I have a discount there at all? Can I see what my discount is getting me?
Also, I have $40 to put into a phone for a monthly payment. The droid and iPhone require data packs. I would also want unlimited texts. What is the cheapest texting service that provides unlimited texting to Verizon? Is it the same for both iPhone and other smartphones?
Lastly, I've been searching the forums and see that there is an option to purchase a smartphone, then replace the data plan, with a data block? (cheaper supposedly). Is there truth to that? Is there something illegitimate about it?

To sum up, a Doid or iPhone is going to cost you up to $200 or more, discounted (the full retails prices are $500 or more) and your monthly plan, with unlimited texting, is going to run you $100 or so, if you are on an individual plan. On a family plan, you can be an add-a-line for $9.99, add a texting bundle for $10 or $20, (unless the family plan is Talk & Text and already has the unlimited texting on all phones), and add your data plan for $29.99. That;s the only way I see you getting this for $40.

Web Service portlet in PDK (Urgent!!!)

I have a .NET web service I would like to consume in the portal and present as a portlet. For several reason I do not want to use OMNI (not the least of the reasons is after 3 weeks of working with oracle tech support on a corresponding I still cant get OMNI and WebClipping running)
Either way, the WS consumption system with xsl/xslt controlled presentation as seen in Web Services sample provide in the PDK suits my needs a lot better.
Now as I mentioned I have a .NET service running and well tested.
I can indeed consume it and even apply XSL, what I cant do however is to pass parameters to web service.
I define portlet with something like:

This actually seem to work and in the _literal.xml log file I can see something like that:

The problem however is that service that should run a query with WHERE lname LIKE <inputStr>% returns the whole datatable rather then only those records that starts with Yukh in the lname column. In short request parameter is ignored by web service (or not passed)
The only difference between my portlet and samples (most of which dont work as advertised by the way) is that oracle _literal.xml log file doesnt have xmlns in the sub elements

We tried using Omniportlet. It expects the resultset in ROWSET/ROW format. Our .Net Webservice doesn't return in rowset/row. We tried transforming using XSL, but even then it didn't work.

NOOB: Database Publishing

Hi everyone!
I'm totally new to this subject. I am trying to find a solution for a phone-directory firm. they have thousand of phone listings and would like to have a system where with a few mouse clicks and style configurations, all content will be set up in a publishing program.
All content, names, phone numbers... is kept in a database (currently ms-access eventuall MSSQL). the DB records also have styling info , such as if certain records should be bolded or colored and the like. all this info shoud be reflected in the finished document.
I have read that framemaker does this kind of thing. I went over the whole FM help online, but couldnt find a single mention of connecting the documents to a DB.
I believe what i'm looking for is something like a super-enhanced MS Word merge . where the content is in a db. the styling for the most part is in the publishing app. and the merge takes a minute. As mentioned, some styling iinfo must come from the db records themseleves.
Can anybody lead me in the right direction? videos/webpages/alternate products/solutions. i would prefer adobe products (cuz its an adobe forum , but really because the firm's users are used to indesign and photoshop and other CS apps.)
i read about structured documents, which makes sense. but where do i make the link to the db?
i really appreciate your help!

This is pretty standard stuff, but the tools aren't built into Frame. You need a bridge application or set of scripts to pull the data in....

Best way to sync contacts?

I have my contacts with Yahoo since I have a Yahoo email address. I also have a Mac Address Book which I no longer sync with Yahoo because of a duplication mess that created a nightmare of missing contacts as well.
I no longer sync my Yahoo contacts via iTunes. I do it via push feature on the iPhone with Yahoo.
Now, after syncing all my contacts from Yahoo to my iPhone, I noticed that Yahoo does not distinquish because email addresses (it does so in edit option but not after viewing) i.e. home, work, etc. It does okay on the phone side but not perfect there either as I got mobile phone listings but when I also had a home listing, Yahoo labels it 'phone" on my iPhone. I had to go into each contact on my iPhone to set the phone numbers and emails correctly instead of what Yahoo listed which was the generic "phone" and "email."
Now I noticed that my Mac Address Book pretty much lists the details like that on the iPhone. I went into iTunes under contacts to sync and my Mac Address Book was not an option. I am missing something?
I am just trying to find the best way to sync. The issue here seems to be the Yahoo label listing but I am open to syncing my contacts another way.

Changing font without changing size with paragraph stylesheet

I need to change the font of many paragraphs without affecting different text sizes within the paragraphs.
I have a huge document...45,000 phone listings/400 pages. Each business listing (as opposed to residential) has a unique text string after the phone number ( |||B ) which will eventually be deleted. I want to do a Find/Change on that text string and change the entire paragraph it's in to a different font without impacting the different font sizes within the paragraph. But when I try to set parameters for the stylesheet, I can't just change the font, I have to change the size also.
Using a character stylesheet won't work, as it would only change the font of the text string itself.
Is this impossible using style sheets? Can it be done with a script? I've never used InDesign scripts so I'd need detailed instructions if that's the answer. Or am I doomed to manually change the font on 3,100 paragraphs in my document?

Character styles should be used to change only things that are special and need to be different from the standard paragraph definition, not for formatting the entire paragraph.
Yes, I have paragraph styles defined. I used them, along with a bunch of other unique text strings, to create separate paragraphs of each type of info in each listing, and then style them. I then used the same search strings to remove the paragraph breaks (and the search strings) to put the listings back to together into a single paragraph (but you have to break the link to the style before you remove paragraph breaks or your text will reformat itself back to the style on the previous paragraph.
The main problem is that I neglected to make a special find/change on the address and phone number to make them bold. Now I have 48,000 paragraphs (listings) with nothing but that |||B search string at the end of each of the business listings. And it took me two full work days just to get to this point, so I really don't want to go back to square one at this point.
I know this is hard to describe and understand. I really appreciate your help though!!

1. If I buy a new Passport today, what version of the operating system will it come with? I have read all the horror stories about updates and battery drain posted since October of 2014. Will I have to immediately update my phone?
2. No where does it say what cables come with the phone (power, car, sync). Does it come with anything, or do I need to buy all the extras? Where is THAT website?
3. Not being able to lock the screen like the Bold 9900 concerns me greatly. From what I have read, it is suggested that I NOT put the phone in my pocket (or purse) without a bulky case on it, because there's no way to lock the screen. Really? Who is designing these phones?
4. Is it better to buy from the Blackberry shop or go through Amazon.com?
I am the last of the Blackberry users down in Texas. Reading this website makes me wonder if I should just throw in the towel and get a Galaxy. I love my Bold, but am not getting a warm and fuzzy feeling reading any of the new phone listings, not the forum messages.

1 Mine came with 10.2 and the update worked fine.
2 it comes with a USB micro charge/sync cable with a high output charger
3 keep screen facing out with top up and use a password or get a pouch or flip case. I keep mine in my pocket with out issue mostly. once in a while i turn it off by mistake.
4 both are ok, I never had an issue with either one

N97 ringtone mixup

I just noticed that sometimes N97 doesn't ring the very ring tone I've assigned to the contacts rather it rings the ringtone defaults to the profile. Any ideas why this happens?
I can confirm
a. All my contacts are in the phone memory. 0 contacts in the sim.
b. No duplicated contacts in the address book. No duplicated phone numbers in individual contact details.
c. I haven't downloaded any ringtones from web. All ring tones in use are preinstalled tones.
d. Although it fails to pick up the correct ringtone, it displays callers details (name, picture etc...) correctly.
e. Finally this happens occassionally (but still its not acceptable to me as I depend on the ringtone to identify the contact's group as in work, uni, family, business, clients etc...)
Any ideas guys?

The Phone Link Updater does not have any recognition of the LG Shine phone via bluetooth. I can get the 2 to see each other but I can use the Dialer feature on the Palm Zire to communicate with the LG Shine. Does anyone know where I can get the Init String for the LG Shine so that I can edit a different phone listings init string and make that be the LG Shine? Help! Thanks

I access a personal iPhone and iPad, and a business iPhone with the same Apple ID.
The iPhone's passcode lock feature is completely separate from another iPhone or iOS device.
All apps, all paid and free apps include DRM protection which is tied to the Apple ID that was used to download the apps. If some apps were downloaded with one Apple ID and then a new Apple ID is created, in order to download an app update that was installed with the original Apple ID requires using that Apple ID and password.

Because I have taken over 9,999 pics, my phone is now duplicating image numbers. The problem is when I am importing with Image Capture, when I select images, the program is importing BOTH the old images of the same number as well as the new ones. Help?

The problem is that Image Capture now imports BOTH images when I select the new ones that share numbers with old ones. The images were completely mixed when they showed up in Image Capture - Old image 0001, new image 0001, old image 0002, new image 0002 and so forth. I clicked on "date," which then rearraged the images, and I selected only the new ones, but when they actually import to my computer BOTH old and new images are importing. Has anyone figured out how to solve this problem?

Well, obviously all I needed to do to solve the problem was to post about it. It has stopped, so all is well!
