Duplicates in the all photos folder...

In the new photos app for all devices, when I move a photo from the all photos album to a designated folder, there is still a copy of that photo in the all photos album.  This annoyed me in the past.....  Can I change this with the new app??  Can I move a photo to a album and there is only that copy, or will there always be a copy in one huge all photos folder?

No - you can not move a photo at all
Photos (like iPhoto) uses a library and albums are just one way to view the photos in the library - there are not multiple copies and you do not move them - you are just adding a link to an album so you can view them from there

  • Where is the "All Photos" folder in iOS7?

In previous versions when I went to my Photo App it shows all my folders I created PLUS one that held ALL my photos...now it's gone. It says I have over 1500 pictures on the phone but the app only shows some folders with the total number of pictures in each folder and they don't come even close to the 1500 number I have...what gives?

Make sure you have it enabled:
In Finder > Preferences > Sidebar > check All My Files

  • "All Photos" folder lost

I accidently deleted the "All Photos" folder, and when I clicked undo it didn't come back. I searched all the menu's but I can't find out how to replace the folder.
    Thanks!

    Oops.
    Okay, do this:
    1) Quit Aperture
    2) Control click your Aperture library and select "Show package contents"
    3) Move the "Built-in Smart Albums" folder to the trash
    4) Restart Aperture
All the default smart albums should be back.
    Be more careful next time

  • How can I delete the All Imported folder on my ipad (imported from an SD card)

When traveling, I import all of the pictures I take each day into the photos app to view the day's results, and provide a back up copy.  I then return the SD card to my camera for the next day's use.  In this way, at the end of my trip, I have all of my photos on both my SD card (or cards) and also my ipad.  When I return home, I load all of my photos into Photoshop on my PC for storage and editing.
I then wish to delete the entire All Imported folder from my ipad.  I have not found a way to do this.  I could theoretically individually select each photo and then delete them all.  This is impractical, however, since I have thousands of pictures on my ipad by the ende of the trip.
I seems to me that there must be a way to delete the entire imported folder, but I can't find it.  I can delete folders that I manually create using the edit function, but this doesn't work for the imported folders.
I haven't been able to find a solution on the community or using google.  Any help will be appreciated.

The iPhoto App can select all of the photos in the All Imported folder and delete them.

  • How do I import photos from my ipad that are not in the saved photos folder

I do have a saved photos album and was able to import those. However, I have several other folders and I can't figure out how to get the photos from my iPad to my new iMac. Or for that matter, into the saved photos folder. This is my first experience with iPhoto. Any help? Thanks!

If you want to remove all of your synced photos .....
Connect your iPad to your computer and launch iTunes.
Select your iPad under the devices tab in the upper right or in the left sidebar, if you have the sidebar enabled.
Click on Photos at the top of the iTunes window on the right.
Uncheck the "Sync Photos From" heading
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes.
IF that doesn't work, create an empty folder on your desktop and call it "Empty Folder". Select that folder in the "Sync Photos From" heading in the photos tab of iTunes and then click on Apply. That will also remove all synced photos.

  • Why are my pictures in the "All Photos" Album out of order?

Within Albums there is an "All Photos" folder but some of the photos are out of order. How is this "All Photos" album different to the "Photos" view (which is in the correct order) and why are they not the same?

Thanks, that's a helpfuland explanation of the difference and makes sense as all  my photos are actually  in an album (which was an event in the previous version).
However it doesn't explain why the order in "all photos" is different.  It is not in the order that the albums are arranged, and odd photos seem randomly scattered about separated from other photos from the same album.
On a separate note It's also a shame as there is no way of arranging the albums chronologically (which you could do with events)

  • HT4207 "archive" set to "off" and deleted notes still show in the "all mail" folder...

I have "archive" set to "off" and deleted notes still show up in the "all mail" folder, any solutions?

Sometimes the Junk Email rule is damaged.  An example of this can be seen here:
    http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/2655142/en-us
I would try a couple of things:
Try enabling the Junk Mail Filter, restart outlook, disable it again, and restart.
Or you may find that the just removing the junk mail rule manually using MFCMAPI may do what you want.
One last thing to look into...  Does the mailbox do Exchange ActiveSync with a Samsung Android device?  If so check here:

  • Should I delete redundant images in the "All Images" folder?

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but...
The "All Images" folder contains so many redundant images, should I clean up those redundant files?
If I do, will it delete them from the individual docs and other files where the images are associated?

be careful deleting anything from there. this smart search shows among other things all the pics in your iphoto library including thumbnails and such. so what may seem like redundant things are actually not. and remember, this is not a real folder. this is a smart search. deleting anything from there will delete the originals.

  • HT204570 Can I add a large amount of very old photos to my iCloud Photos WITHOUT them appearing in line in the "All Photos" view?

I enjoy having a stream of photos going back to when I got my first iPhone.  Now that the Photos app is available, I would like to import all of my old family photos into iCloud, but I don't want them to appear in the All Photos view.  Is it possible to remove them or trick Photos into believing that they were added before the more recent photos?

Right-click on an image and select Get Info, then change the date to something old. This, however, affects only the views that are sorted by Date.

  • Are iPhoto Album Imports Duplicates of iCloud All Photos

    I have Mac, iPad, iPhone.
I have thousands of photos in iPhoto in many albums.
When I turned on iCloud Photo, I was given the option to import from iPhoto which I did.
I now have thousands of photos in All Photos on my iOS devices. I also have thousands of photos in the iPhoto Events album with the sub-albums inside of there.
Are All Photos duplicates of my iPhoto albums?
What if I want Albums to organize photos the way I want to? Can I create albums?
Trying to sort through all of this, thanks for the help and patience.
    Thanks in advance.

In iPhoto, you can right-click (or control-click) and select Reveal In Finder. Now you know where the video is.
If you would rather store it in iMovie than iPhoto, you can open iMovie and FILE/IMPORT/MOVIES and navigate to the movie in iPHoto. You will still have the same movie in iPhoto, so if you don't want it both places, you would have to delete it in iPhoto.
I am no expert on iPhoto, but MacWorld has posted some recent articles on how to move your iPhoto library to an external drive. [For Example, this one|http://www.macworld.com/article/141216/archiveiPhotolibraries] and [this one|http://www.macworld.com/article/143828/2009/11/referenced_library.html]
It is generally good practice not to rename or move stuff outside of iMovie once you have started to edit a project. The reason is that a project is a set of instructions that references the real video clips, which are stored in an Event. If you change the name or the path and iMovie does not know about it, all the links in the projects will not work anymore.
You can change event names within iMovie. And you can move Events or Projects to an external drive from within iMovie.

  • Does uploading iPhoto libraries from multiple Macs with the same photos create duplicates in the new Photos app?

I have 4 Macs and I had the same iPhoto library on each of them. When I chose to turn on the iCloud Photo Library on each of them, each Mac, each one of them uploaded the library to iCloud Photo Library.. Now it appears that I have many duplicates in the new Library. Is it adding each of the 4 libraries to the mix? It's a real problem as I have 25,000 pictures - 70GB in my library. So paused the upload on 2 of the Macs about half way through in case it is creating duplicates, until I get some answers. Any help would sure be appreciated.

I'm in the same boat as well. I'm doing one mac at a time and seeing how it works. Howev the upload is so slow, who knows when it will be done.

  • Do I need the All Mail folder under Gmail in my Apple Mail program?

Using my Apple Mail, I look at the Gmail folders and one says "All Mail". I have 24,000 messages and most are what I erased ions ago. Can I delete the whole folder from my Mail program? Will that free me space on my 128 Gig SSD?

That is Google's Data Mine that it uses to make money off of your information.
You need to remove it from IMAP on the Gmail Settings web interface. But that doesn't delete the email stored on Googles network.
Gmail doesn't use folders, it uses Labels. A message can have multiple labels. Initially, a message has an Inbox label and an "All Mail" label. When you move it out of the inbox, like to delete it, it only removes the Inbox label. The All Mail label remains.
This article, among many others, describes how to get Gmail's non-standard implementation to work with Mail.
