Duplicates of all incoming mail!

I have a two week old G4 iBook running Tiger. Incoming mail just started to duplicate itself. New mail shows up in the "In Box" and less than a minute later a duplicate of the message also shows up in the "In Box". This is not happening with my G5 which is picking up mail from the same ISP. Help!

You appear to have indeed set up the same mail account twice in Mail (I wonder why), so it should be no surprise that you’re receiving every message twice...
I believe the User Name in the case of .Mac should be the part of the email address that precedes the @ sign, but what you’ve described would indicate that .Mac accepts the full email address there as well.
You should delete one of the two mail accounts and leave the other alone. What does Mail show in Preferences > Accounts > Account Information > Account Type for each of them? I ask because deleting a POP account would cause the messages stored in that account’s mailboxes to be deleted from the computer as well...

  • Can Mail block all incoming mail from a particular domain?

Can Mail be configured to block all incoming mail from a particular domain? I'd rather it be sent to the bit bucket than sent to a spam folder.

Yes, go in to your rules and set it up for a folder of your choosing.  Click on the mail menu item then select preferences and then click on rules.

  • Configure sendmail to reject all incomming mail?

how would i configure sendmail on solaris8 to reject or trash all incomming email and still maintain capability to send email?

I found this thread useful and wonder why it some of this information isn't more readily available. Webservers shouldn't be running at mailservers and so the sendmail daemon doesn't boot up. Mail at cron and through .cgi/perl scripts utilize the sendmail on the servers I manage.
BUT -- in the last six months I find I'm having to reconfigure the sendmail.cf to find a way around an email configuration problem in our networks somewhere.
I've normally used the smart relay without problem. Now, even though I have the "connect" for mail going out to several different mail relays on the domain, the mail does not get delivered. I've tried to trace it down to one relay and have been unsuccessful.
The solution, and I don't understand it, is that we've setup a mail relay on a windows box in our domain and I've edited the sendmail.cf to use that mail relay instead of the smart relay.
In addition, and this is really strange to me, but I'm not a sendmail guru -- we're masquerading as a hotmail.com
If we don't masquerade as hotmail.com and use our own relay, the mail receipients don't receive mail occasionally. Both of these have to be in place for it to work successfully.
I think someone, somewhere, has a rule setup incorrectly, but it's beyond the relays we normally default to. With the mail relay setup in our domain, it accepts the mail because it's a relay, but what kind of rule would they possibly setup that accepts us masquerading as someone else???
    Can anyone help explain this?
I personally would love to see some documentation on how an SA could setup sendmail.cf for their webservers as outgoing and have it RIGHT.
Thanks for listening.... feel free to say something. :-)

  • Getting Duplicates of all E-Mails

Since the update to iPhone, I am getting duplicates of every e-mail I receive. This happens only on the iPhone, not on my iMac. I have the original iPhone and use AOL for mail. My wife, who syncs her iPhone to a PC rather than a Mac, and who also uses AOL, is not having this problem. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I'm having the same issues. When you delete them on the iPhone and you use the spotlight the messages are show as still being there. If you click on the email under the finder there is 1 50% chance the emails come back on the iPhone.
Are you experiencing this as well?

  • All incoming going into Spam folder

Since upgrading to Leopard - back up to external first, then clean install of Leopard, then re import files from backup. All incoming mail is going into the Spam folder .. everything on exceptions. Have looked for a simple explanation and searched but can't find the fix. Any suggestions out there

Solved .... the issue is/was Spam Sieve. The plug in had to be re-installed and all is back to normal.

  • "Missing Plug-in" instead of image in incoming mail

Recently, some mail has arrived with gray text reading "Missing Plug-in" where the image should be. The attachment size shows next to the paper clip, and I can use the Save button to save the image, and view it with Preview.
But when I try to cut and paste the saved image into an outgoing message, the same gray text appears instead.
Not all incoming mail behaves this way. I have not yet been able to determine if this is unique to a single sender.

    Greetings All,
I've recently noticed the "Missing Plug-in" phenomenon too in Apple Mail (Version 3.6 (936)). I've tried resetting Java preferences by clicking the "Restore Defaults" button, but there's no change. Since I'm running Leopard 10.5.8 I didn't download the Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 2 at http://support.apple.com/downloads/. Is it okay to load this update if I'm running OS X 10.5.8? If so, I'll give it a try, but I don't want to attempt a fix if it's going to cause more problems.
I also went into Safari (Version 5.0.4 (5533.20.27)), into Preferences/Advanced and checked the Show Develop Menu in Menu Bar. I then went into Develop but found no Enable Extensions option. So that was a dead end.
I've checked my system for updates and everything seems to be up to date. However, I suspect that this just may be part of the problem. Sometimes things get fluky when updates occur. Strange how that is.
    Any suggestions will be appreciated.
    Thanks!

  • How to block incoming mail with internal domain as sender

    Hi all,
Ironport accept incoming mail to internal domains defined in the RAT without verify the sender domain is the same internal domain.
To avoid this I have used a message filter to drop those mails. I can't use the bounce command to avoid to be considered a spammer.
Is there a way to reject those mails with a 5xx error message?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Andrea

    Securegroup,
jloehler is absolutely correct, when I configure appliances (personally I use a 1 listener config) I set the Default Mailflow Policy to Use the Exception Table ("On") and insure that all incoming mail policies (anything with the ACCEPT action) is set to "Use Default" for this parameter. Then I double check to insure that the RELAY policy is set to "Off" because you don't want to reject outbound messages due to the Exception Table.
Once I've verified that the RELAY is off and Inbound policies are "On" I then populate my exception table with all the internal domains and specify the reject action. Now a quick take away is that the Exception Table only performs the rejection based on the SMTP MAIL FROM not the "From:" header internal to the message itself.
Now with all that said it never fails that there is some internal group that uses 3rd party marketing which spoofs the internal domains so I usually create a new incoming mail flow policy with the Exception Table turned "Off" and create a Sender Group call DOMAINSPOOFLIST which are IPs and Domain names that I allow to spoof internal e-mail addresses with the new mail policy assigned to it.
    And that's it.
    Sincerely,

  • Block incoming mail (spam) overnight?

    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)
I've noticed that 95% of my spam is delivered to me between 12 am and 8 am. Since friends and collegues rarely send me email during those hours, I was wondering if there is a way to disable Mail during those hours and thereby block the emails from ever making it to my inbox.
I've looked through rules and tried unchecking the "enable this account" box in Preferences but have not found anything that works. Any ideas?
    Best,
    Lea

  • Incoming mails get stucked

Everytime i start the mail program to get my new mails, the activity bar get stucked at the same spot of incoming mails.
all incoming mails left still the server of my provider (he sees zero mails there). so the 29 new mails are already on the way to my mac and therefore my provider can nothing do for me.
Any hints how to get rid of this bug mail number 2 or 3 of 29 on the way from cyberspace to my mac inbox which make my activity bar stuck ? thanks.

Hi and welcome to the discussions
I am curious about something in your post. If your mail download gets stuck on message 2 of 29, it follows that messages 3 to 29 have still not been downloaded from the mail server so I can't understand how your provider sees zero mails there. You might want to clear that up with him.
Normally my solution to this problem is to go to your ISP's webmail service and manually delete mail no. 2 from the list, and try retrieving your mail again via Mail.app.

  • CAN YOU PLS REMOVE AN UNUSED ACCOUNT(NO ID's associated with it)--& also retain inbox mail -after reading one --as all previous mails must be scanned first--

    I have T-bird V31.3--on ancient XP PRO>>>>>>>
When I read mail & sort it accordingly-- the Bar above -showing all incoming mail Tags-now has to be scrolled (RT-to LEFT)---
until Inbox Tag appears---this can be as many as 20 -30 Tags.-every time.
Until recently -the INBOX tag stayed directly above--as originally positioned--thus allowing instant access to more Mail..
I am asking -if there is a link to an UNUSED ACCOUNT -which needs to be removed.
I do believe in MODZILLA _____& know -there is always an answer >>>>>In anticipation >>>>>PAUL BAILEY

You do realize that Thunderbird is software running on your PC and no one but you can change anything about it don't you. So I can offer no information about link setting or unused accounts.
The interface is tabbed, if you closed the tabs when you were done with the individual mail you would have to scroll nothing. As it is, right click a tab and select close other tabs from the menu.
