Duplicates on device - Local and Cloud

Well...
I have itunes match running on my Macboko Pro.. All my music is local. itunes match matches some songs and uploaded others but as it stands the files are local.
Here is what I now did step by step.
1. Made sure iTunes match is turned of in my iPhone
2. Deleted all local music on my iphone via settings -> general -> usage -> storage -> music
3. Synced my Macbook Pro to my iPhone and watched and waited as all the music copied across
Once all the music copied across/synced, I realised that some album covers were missing on my iPhone. I wonder why?
4. I enabled iTues match in my iPhone.
Now the album covers are back. But why? They are there on my Macbook Pro iTunes
5. I enabled 'Show all Music' and hence my problem.
With 'Show all music' enabled, about 200-300 of my 4000 songs are duplicated. A song will be there on my iPhone locally but there will also be the same version of the song with the cloud next to it.
Why are these duplicates happening? If I turn 'show all music' off, then the duplicates go away. But the thing is shouldnt I have 'show all music' turned on?

I have had the same problems as you. I just kept trying and trying and eventually got it to sync after multiple reboots. Just keep trying and it might work, otherwise, I have nothing. I have a 64gb iPad 2 wifi btw. So it's not just iPod touch or iPhone.

Iphone 4s showing duplicate email account @me and cloud

I just purchased a new Macbook Air and was setting up the cloud services on my phone and on my new MB Air. I've had the phone for a while, and had set up the email account on the phone as my mobile me account. When I set up the cloud service on my MB Air and on my Iphone 4s, I was asked to merge the account from the mobile me to the icloud service. I followed all the instructions and everything worked like a charm - contacts updated to my devices, photos etc. However I just noticed a problem on my iPhone, which now when I look at my email icon, it says 66 emails, when I open it up, it showing 2 accounts, both say iCloud, however one is the actual iCloud icon and the other has the mobile me cloud icon. When I went into my settings on my iphone, I figured I'd just go and delete the mobile me email account, however it says (iCloud - account says my mobile me email address).
I'm not sure i want to delete the account, because if I uncheck the Mail (turn it off), all of my emails go away. When I turn it on, it shows duplicate email accounts.
I must be doing something wrong, but have been racking my brain for the last hour or so and I just can't seem to figure it out.
Any help???

I saved a corrected, most up to date version of my master Address Book Contacts as a back-up on my Mac Book Pro.
then in an effort to "simplify my life" i attempted to sync my I phone contacts - ( pre clean-up version) with my clean list on Mac Book Pro, New I pad and newly available icloud. DUH!! Using iTunes to do the sync caused the clean MacBOOK Pro list to be commingled with the dirty iphone contacts. amd now the whole mess is in the cloud.
I need to clear out the contaminated lists from all iplaces, and startover with Back-up on my macbook pro. BUT HOW???

I had exported an address book backup: abbu
so since i wrote, i have found my way into the cloud: selected all entries - deleted them all from the cloud.
This wiped out contacts on my iphone and i pad, and MBP, as well as on the cloud. I then imported the abbu back into my now empty address book.
To repopulate the crowd, i selected all in my address book and created a single card vCard for export to my desktop. I then dragged that vcard into my empty cloud. Now my cloud has the same clean contacts as my MBP addressbook. The cloud then pushed the clean contacts into my empty ipad and iphone contacts.
I had to go back to Address Book>preferences>Accounts and Add an I cloud account - but if you accidentally create a second i cloud account - all of a sudden your address book will duplicate itself. I quickly reversed it by deleting one of the icloud accounts in my Address Book>preferences>Accounts.
I created a new entry on my MBP and it is now on all devices and in cloud
I also created a new entry on my iPhone and it is now in the address book on my MBP.
I feel empowered!!
Have i missed anything??

Photo's store my photo's local and in the cloud, can i force to do that only in the cloud to create local space?

I want to free disk-space on my macbook air. Is it possible to store the originals only in the cloud, in stead of both local and iCloud?

I have 4 GB free on my macbook, and 145 GB free in my iCloud account.

Once removed, you can turn on Find My iPhone on the device remotely.

"where does firefox 'profiles' end up in Windows 7? I see there are duplicate 'default'profiles in a local and roaming folders.

I am moving my 'profile' from one netbook (which uses Windows XP) to a newer netbook (using Windows 7 starter). I have found two folders off the 'users/(my name)/local' and 'users/(my name)/roaming' that seem to be duplicate default profile folders. When I copy my profile from the older netbook, how do I know which folder to put it into.

It depends on the iPod shuffle model... Assuming your shuffle is the 4th gen (or 3rd gen) model, do you use automatic syncing or the manual method (drag and drop song on iPod in iTunes)?

Check icloud.com to be sure you contact list is correct there. If it is, just go to Settings>iCloud on your device and turn Contacts to On to sync the contacts to your device. If contacts are already set to On and you still see duplicates, you may be viewing a duplicate contact group in addition to the iCloud contacts. Open Contacts, tap Groups, then tap any groups other than iCloud to uncheck them, then tap Done. See if the duplicates are still there.

Local and Roaming profiles not being created

Hello all,
I'm in need of help and I wondered if there was anyone out there with some suggestions.
The problem is that one of our sites has Netware 5 and Zfd3.2 and there are no longer any roaming profiles or local profiles being created. Volatile user is not used. Roaming profiles go to the users home directory. All file rights are fine. DLU is still working. Novell client on W2K workstations is 4.90. All other sites appear to be OK.
I suspected that the user policy was at fault and so created a test user package and associated a test user to it = same result.
I have checked from top to bottom and compared all settings to other sites and can see no difference or anything unusual. I've been working on this for 2 days now and I'm going grey and bald.
Any suggestions anyone?
I'll buy a pint for anyone with the answer - LOL.

With iOS5 and Cloud - it *appears* the iPad2 is the right choice for me...

Like many people, Ive been hemming and hawing over whether to go with an iPad2 or an Android device. Ive read the reviews, watched the product demos, and analyzed what each device can and cannot do. Im not an Apple "guy" per say but Im not a PC-die hard either. I have a crappy Trac-fone so I dont have any bias for or against other Android or Apple mobile devices. I just like products that work and I dont get too caught up in any fanboy-ism stuff
I just noticed that the Apple store is listing the iPad2 "now with iOS5 & cloud". Thats great news, IMO. If there were any issues I was worried about with the iPad2, it was that pesky iTunes app and the fact that I do NOT want to deal with it. I know there are some apps to handle file transfers and what not but its good to see Cloud being there in the iPad2.
Of course, I have the usual concerns with the iPad2 that some others have...like:
Lack of flash and not being able to fully enjoy some of my web pages
The proprietary nature of Apples products and file handling(walled garden concept)
Hatred of iTunes(although that can be addressed with some 3rd party apps from what Im reading)
The mono speaker is kind of lame.
Other than that - I dont see many problems! Our intended uses of the iPad2 will be:
Portable device for multimedia & gaming
Managing photos & media
Magzine subcriptions & delivery
Some e-reading/books
Kids to use for homework, research, and stuff like that.
Verious other tasks we used to try and do with our laptops but they are simply too heavy and have lousy battery performance!
Well, Im just about ready to order. Looking forward to chatting about the iPad2 with everyone!

Catching NFC device arrival and departure events in service

We have been trying to capture NFC events of device arriving and departing, and also sending and receiving data. So far we have a desktop application that can do that successfully (traditional Windows Desktop app, not a metro app). What we are trying to
do is to capture those events and data using a service, but do not see any events or data when using a service.
We were under the impression that, because our system runs as NT AUTHORITY/SYSTEM, the NFC events are not getting sent to it. To change the context to local user, we used something similar to
this to impersonate local user within the service, which does change the context to local user, but still does not catch any NFC events or data. (We verified that execution context changed by using WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent().Name).
So our questions are:
How to detect NFC device in proximity, and receive data, using a service? And what is the reason it does not work currently? (Is it for security that the OS is not allowing it?)
Are there any restrictions as to who can listen to NFC events?
Can we, for the sake of debugging, see anywhere in Windows (e.g. Event logger) if there are any NFC events? (We can here the ping sound that comes when a device is detected close by)

SRP521W - Local and Remote Traffic Cannot be the Same Subnet Address

I support an existing VPN infrastructure with PIX, Juniper NS5GT, and Netopia devices used as VPN endpoints. In all cases, I can create a VPN where the location's internal subnet, 10.x.y.0/24 sends traffic to 10.0.0.0/8 out the VPN tunnel. In the case of this 521W that we are evaluating, it appears that I cannot do this. Insteadm when creating the IPSEC policy I get this error "Local and Remote Traffic Cannot be the Same Subnet Address." Which, while strictly true, has never been an issue with all the above devices. Is there a workaround or other methodology to support this?

Device Manager and Desktop Software fail to work after a profile migration

Hi there,
I have just moved in a Windows Domain so I had to change my IP configuration. I have done a moveuser to move my local profile to the domain's profile. My Device Manager and, therefore, desktop software are not responding anymore. I keep receiving a message of ApploaderWEBSL-Upgrade[1].msi missing in the network location.... after a couple of hundreds of cancels, it goes away.
I have tried reinstalling the BB Original CD as an Domain Administrator selecting "4 all users". I have tried downloading the Windows Installer Cleaner. I have also tried to upgrade my device's software directly from the WEB. Finally, I have tried to "promote" my Windows Account as a Domain Admin.... nothing.
The poing is that if i log in as a Domain Admin, my device is automatically recognized by the device manager.... but I can't sink cause it's not my profile...
Everything was working before my domain enrolement and IP changes.... can anyone help me?

Hello, The most common thing to do after an update that results in issues is to perform an OS reload. Sometimes, the update processes have errors and such...with a reload often curing the issues. Sometimes, restoring from a backup returns to the device the very corruption one needs to eliminate, and reconfiguring from scratch can resolve that. Good luck!

Saving files locally and in iCloud

Just today I tried to access a numbers file in iCloud. I got the message index.xml not found (or something similiar). Luckily I had an old version of the file in Time Machine. This got me thinking though about what if this happened again. I have now stored all my iCloud files locally as well as in the cloud. There is no way to backup iCloud is there? Anyway my question is as follows - when I edit a file locally and save it locally can it be automatically saved in iCloud as well or do I have to manually do this?

You can't do both in one operation. BTW, all iWork files stored on icloud are also stored locally, in
~/Library/Mobile Documents. So you should be able to perform a Time Machine restore for that folder.
