Duplicates on iphone only
This is very weird!! Recently synced both mine and husband iphones through iTunes and upgraded the software. (iCloud was another matter altogether) but since the sync we find that several files are duplicated on the iphones only - not in the itunes library (we have separate libraries) Also, the icon for the album is missing although on itunes itself it is there. Can anyone help with this? An exampled of this is - Norah Jones shows in iTunes perfectly - just as she always did - but on the iphone we have a blank album cover - open the album and there are duplicates of each track listed one after the other. So track 1 is track 1 and plays as track 1, but the next in the list is also Track 1 and plays as track 1 - although this time it has a picture of the allbum??? Check this in itunes and it shows only the correct album with the album picture........ getting a little cheesed off! I posted similar thread before but without ANY response... please help someone. (Yes both the Mac and the iphones have been turned on/off)
Morning! Having search most of the evening I found a thread that helped with removing tracks from the iPhone! I never knew you could just swipe accross the track and then delete it - so Im off now to go through my iPhone to delete all duplicate tracks that way and then sync again to see what happens!! Thanks to Katrinas reply back in 2010 - I am now moving forwards.. SM:)

I recently plugged in my iPhone, only to see that when the contents of the device were shown in iPhoto, there were triples, or "triplicates" of every photo (this put the total around 10,000 photos). Meanwhile, on my iPhone's Photos app, everything looks normal with only single photos being shown.
I toiled over how to remedy the problem, and found I had no other choice but to spend the MANY hours syncing thousand upon thousands of duplicate photos/videos to my iPhoto library. I then broke down and purchased Duplicate Annihilator to clean up my now ruined library. Because iPhoto made all those duplicates, the file size compounded into many gigabytes. Duplicate Annihiliator had to run for hours before finally cleaning things up. It did it's job well, however the root of the problem still remains.
At the conclusion of transferring my entire library of photos from iPhone to iPhoto, I had the photos removed from the iPhone so I could start with a clean slate. I took a few sample photos and plugged the iPhone back in to iPhoto. Yet again, the dreaded triple duplicates, or "triplicates" of each photo I took show in the device preview window (i.e. I took 5, non-HDR photos, and 15 are shown—each repeated three times). If I proceed to import the collection, it imports triple of everything into my library.
Essentially, my situation now is: I have to import multiple copies of everything (takes longer), then I have to run Duplicate Annihilator each time to keep my iPhoto library from being a mess. Just wastes tons of time. How can I keep iPhoto from showing and importing all these multiple copies every time? Again, on the iPhone end, everything looks normal—only a single copy of each photo.
What I have tried:
Closing/restarting iPhoto
Checking for iPhoto updates (there are none, I'm on the latest version—which, as of this writing, is 9.2.3 629.52)
Deleting com.apple.iPhoto.plist from ~/library/Preferences/
Using Image Capture (triple duplicates still show in IC as well)
Disabling Photo Stream
Removing all photos and albums from iPhoneI am seeing this problem still, even after trying the Photo stream toggle trick that was mentioned. I have one otehr observation to add.
If I "Command"+select the first of each photo in iPhoto and then import those (choosing to Delete after import), then the next refresh of iPhone pictures oniPhoto will show all the photos (including the duplicates) gone. So basically something like this.
1) iPhoto - I see triplicates of pictures on my iPhone.
2) Command+Select the first instance of each duplicated picture.
3) Import the selected pictures. Choose to Delete the pictures after import.
4) Go back to iPhone in iPhoto. No more duplicates of the pictures I imported.
So this doesn't fix the problem as all the unimported photos still show triplicates, but al least I don't have to run a de-duper on my laptop now to eliminate triplicates.
This eliminates some of the hassle, but it's still a hassle.
I hope someone figures this out completely because it's making me hate iPhoto just a little bit.

I have an iPhone 5S and a Mac desktop all updated to current software releases. Recently I have uploaded photos from my iPhone and when they appear in iPhoto they were duplicated (last time). This morning I uploaded 200 photos (round #) and got 600 in iPhoto (they tripled).
There are only SINGLE photos on my phone and HDR is turned off. My photo stream is turned off. In a previous post responders asked "why do you think it is an iPhoto issue?"; well the iPhone only takes a single photo and in every case which is the last four times I end up with double or triple photos in iPhoto. I have had to to cntrl + "click" to select each photo manually to delete. Super frustrating and as someone who has been an Apple person since the IIe (Apple 2e) I have come to expect things to work correctly. Spoiled, I know. Any thoughts on other settings to check or steps to try would be appreciated. I'm not a programmer though so some of the "go into this registry or file and change "X" " may be beyond me. OK, I solved it. Here is the solution if you have precisely the problem I had.
1. On the iOS device: delete the iCloud account.
2. Go to the Apple ID website and make sure the ONLY email there is the me.com email and that it is set as primary. If you Mac.com email is listed as a secondary email THIS will cause the problem. So delete the Mac.com email.
3. Log back in to iCloud on the iOS device.
Only you wanted to use the Mac.com address and not the me.com one, you could follow the above instructions just swapping me and Mac. -
I'm trying to recover a file and the app company said to restore from an earlier backup. My iPhone only shows the most recent backup. I've been searching the net for answers - I found the back up file and date sorted them (over 6mb of files). How can I get my iPhone to restore from an earlier backup?
I am on Windows Vista so I don't have Time Machine.
I have backed up the backup folder so if I mess it up, I have it in a separate place.
Can I just delete all the files with todays date in that backup folder and have it forced to the next oldest date?
Why doesn't the iPhone show a list of the least several backups.

Backed up to computer through iTunes (not iCloud)As you backup the iPhone in iTunes, it overwrites the last backup. Files are kept as they are changed, so that would explain how you get different dates in your backup folder. The only backups that are saved and not overwritten are the ones done just prior to a restore. You do have the option to go back in time on a Windows computer, however depending on the last time you set a restore point in Windows, it could be back further than you are willing to go.

Deleting email from Iphone only not from gmail account
I have business emeails that come through on my Iphone. I want to delete them from my Iphone only. Not delete them totally from gmail. Can not find a way to do that. What am I doing wrong?
You can do this when accessing the account as a POP account on the iPhone only with the correct settings for not removing messages from the server when deleted from the iPhone - if Gmail supports accessing the account as a POP account.
Accessing the account as a POP account with an email client on one computer or mobile device and as an IMAP or Exchange account on another can cause problems. -
Hi I have the orginal iPad ,,,and had software updates done on both iPhone & iPad ,one thing I noticed everytime I hook my iPad & iPhone up to iTunes update software or upgrades I seem to loose very important emails from both iPhone & iPad ,,,so that's one issue that apple could not explain causes ,,the other problem is recently this year I noticed that I will email my friends then a couple of weeks later go to email same friends email address are felted from my contacts ,this is happening a lot now ,,but not on iPhone only iPad ,any ideas ,,,I knew to forum so any help appreciated ,,,
Emails are not included with the backup for each device. If the account is an Exchange or IMAP account, all server stored mailboxes and the messages within remain on the server. If a POP account, if received messages remain on the server the messages will be re-downloaded. If no longer available on the server, this has nothing to do with updating the iPhone or iPad.
Are you syncing contacts with a supported address book app on your computer or over the air with an email account that supports syncing contacts over the air? Not a good idea to depend on a portable device alone for contacts. Although contacts are included with the backup for each device, so is a significant amount of other data. If something goes wrong with the device's backup in regards to this data and you aren't syncing contacts direct with a supported address book app on your computer or over the air with an email account that supports it, your contacts can be lost. Not to mention if either device or both devices are lost or stolen. -
Hi there, I pay for extra iCloud space online. However I cannot seem to find any of my photos or account? As my iPod/iPhone only hold 1000 pictures, where are the previous pictures? And how can I access them?
You cannot use iCloud Storage to suppliment your iPad. They are mainly used to backup iPad.
Free up space on iPad
Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Delete what is not needed to free up space on iPad. -
I have an iPhone and iPad on the same account. I gave my iPad to my daughter. Can I set up a new account for my iPhone only so I can back up photos, etc, in privacy?
If you set up a new account on your iPhone you won't have access to all the data associated with the prior Apple ID.

Ever since I enabled iMessage on my Mac Airbook, I can no longer receive text messages from the iMessage people on my iPhone, only on my iMessage now!! How do I get the messages to reach both iMessage and iPhone??
We are suffering very similar issues when communicating from my iphone to a friend who has both iphone and iPad enabled.
As long as I reply to an existing text chain, then it is visible on the target iphone. If I SMS the phone number, it gets routed to the IPAD!! And NO, I should not have to disable imessage when I want to send an SMS!! -

I tried that but on my iphone i can only click on my email and my number is checked but its in grey doesnt allow me click on it and on my Mac, its the opposite, my email is checked but in grey so doesnt allow me to click on it. im realy confused

My 3G iphone only loads few apps since I updated and the camera doen't work anymore, what now. Tried to reset to original settings and now it won't load apps, even old ones.
What model iPod do you have? If yo have a 2G iPod. many developers when they updated their apps to support iOS 5 and 6 dropped compatibility for iOS 4.2.1 and earlier.

When I create a photo stream in ios6, everyone who is logged in to my iCloud account can see and edit my stream (on their iPhones only). Not just the email addressees that I sent the photo stream link to. Is that how photo stream security is meant to work? Is so it means my whole family can see any photo stream I set up. Hence no security? Can't share the pics with the wife then :(
The whole idea to an icloud account is that one user uses it and has all their devices synced together. Different users need different Apple IDs to create their own icloud accounts. Note that everyone can still use the same ID for an iTunes account (to share purchases).

iphone only shows logo for 13 seconds when connected to pc thats all it does however i connected to wall socket, it goes up to connect to itunes but when i unplug it then it switches off.
this is coincidently after an ios update for iphone which i did just approx two days earlier which was suppused to fix battery issues?
also battery shows 100 percent full but as i explained if disconected from socket it switches off altogether.Hopefully and most likely faulty battery. If you have Warranty or AppleCare, make Genius reservation and take to Apple for resolution.
