Duplicating a layout across a page for printing?

Hi Guys
I have designed a coupon in Photoshop CS4 and I want to print it on an A4 sheet.  I've designed it so that I can fit 5 on a sheet.  But I'm not sure of a simple way to layout 5 on a sheet, other than cutting and pasting the coupon 5 times on a blank sheet.
Any simple solutions to this issue?
Many thanks
Tom

If the coupon document is the correct size 1/5 page size save that for backup. Next you can record a simple Action and play it three times aftre you record it. Recording it you will wind up with two coupon. Playing it will add a coupon.  Action steps
Dupe current layer.
Canvas Size check relative. Move anchor point to to center box in the hight ented the coupon height click OK.
Select all
Manu Layers>Align Layers to selection>Bottom edge vertical bottom
deselect.
Play action  three times.

How can I place 2 A5 sized pieces of text on one A4 page for printing?

    Hi,
If you want the text to flow from one side to the other, create a new A4 blank landscape document. Set left and right document margins to 1cm:
Type in some placeholder text, select it and set the Layout to 2 equal columns with a 2cm gutter:
Type in the text, it'll end up like this:
If you don't need the text to flow from one side to the other, then an alternative is to draw two equal-sized text boxes and type into them.

it shows saction name that i could not inditify
    give me the message
(one or more of th pages specified are not valid page name)
so how gate the valid name of pages?
    please slove my problem,
    thanks

If your document has more than one section (sections are used to restart page numbering and similar tasks) you can identify the pages using either the logical name, which uses the section prefix and the "logical' page number which is the number that appears in the page marker, or you can use the absolute page number, which is the position in the document. You can set your preferences to display section or absolute page numbering in the Pages panel, too.
Unless you assigne some other prefix, sections are labeled as Section I, Section II and so on, and pages are designated by Section:Page# in the dialogs. If you want to use absolute page numbering in the dialog instead, you can add a + sign in front of the page number in the dialog: +6-+12 will be the sixth though twelf pages in your document, even if they are in different sections and carry the numbers vi - 4, for example.

  • PSE 8 - Can I reposition an image on a page for printing?

I am learning how to print photos using PSE 8 on a Mac running 10.6.4. In PSE 2, when printing I was able to slide a photo around on a page and reposition it for printing. (I could then print the photo on top of the page and then reinsert the paper into the printer and print on the bottom half too.) Is there a way to move a photo around on a page for printing in PSE 8 on a Mac? In PSE 8 Help, under Printing and Sharing Photos > Print Photos > Reposition an Image, it says you can: Choose File > Print and then use "the panning operation" to reposition the image, but I don't know what the "panning operation" is. All I see is an immovable box with the photo inside it. I can move the photo around in the box, but the box does not move with it, so no matter what, the photo (or a part of it) is going to print in the middle of the page it seems. Thank you for any help you can give me.

Try resizing the image before you go into the print dialog.  Then, once you are in the print dialog, uncheck Center Image and you should be able to move it anywhere on the sheet.

  • Hi everyone ! Question about a magazine in Pages for Printing in press printing

    Hello all Pages users !,
I am really strugling with trying to learn, comprehend and use InDesign CS5 for a future free give-away  60 or 62 pages magazine.
I do understand and manage quite well apple 's PAGES for normal regular brochures and flyers use.
I truly need some advices regarding my project, as while being at ease with the use of Pages, there are some specific points I need
to make sure will work out when finally sending a pre-press and final PDF to my printer's house.
1/ How to set the necessary margins, bleed, trim, gutter and middle flat squre binding spin ?
2/ Will there be problems if I import pre-vectorized images/texts with transparent background (i.e. in PNG format)
3/ Should I only import CMYK photos from my photoshop instead of RGB ?
4/ Is there a specific setting for all the facing pages (let/right) and numbering them ?
5/ Once done, can I export the final PDF file to any Abode reliable PDF handler to secure and ensure all settings, colors and trim areas
will be perfect for press printing, and what would you guys kindly recommend ?
I know these are various and complicated questions and issues, but before venturing into PAges for my magazine set up, layout and
complete work, I would preferably ensure that it is possible to get a correct nice color magazine done in Pages instead of venturing
in the Highly professional very complicated inDesign software .
Thaks a milion in advance for all your advices, tipds and experience !
    Awaiting your feddback guys !
Gratitude to all souls of good will for this help outcry ! ;-)

The person as always best able to answer your questions is the printer who will be printing your magazine.
They may be an exception but I doubt they will be happy with you doing it in Pages.
Pages is designed for output to your desktop printer. There are a string of issues to do with preparing a print job for commercial printing that Pages is either ill-equiped or plain just unable to manage.
If you say you are struggling with Indesign which is designed to manage all aspects of commercial printing, what makes you think that choosing a program that isn't will improve matters?
    1. Pages does not have crops, bleeds or slugs. You can however manually construct these yourself with sufficient work.
    2. Pages has no tools to help you manage your output, ensure that black only text/objects are black only, that resolution is high enough, that its unique objects such as frames pass through the printer's RIP correctly.
    3. By default Pages produces exceptionally low resolution transparency (only 72dpi) for shadows, reflections, 3d graphs, frames and transparency overlaying bitmaps in exported pdfs.
    4. Ask your printer whether he can fix trapping in his RIP because Pages doesn't.
    5. You can DL and install certain print workflows that will correct some of these but will still not get correct pdf-X3 that printers require.
    6. You can not bypass output through Apple's problematic print engine, even though fruhulda's link thinks he has.
    7. OSX can not make spot color objects, although spot color already in pdf objects brought into Pages should (not guarranteed) be honored.
    8. I don't know what you mean by pre-vectorized images because png is rgb bitmap only and does not contain vectors nor text. I think you might mean pre-rasterised, not a good idea.
    9. You will assume command of the Good Ship Pages and all who sail in her, the printer will probably hand all responsibility for output to you. You get to pay no matter what happens. Good luck.
In summary, if you are uncomfortable with and don't know how to handle pre-press settings and requirements, I suggest you do not, and instead hand the job over to a professional to produce and manage for you.
Finding out that you do not have what it takes to print commercially, can be a very expensive and salutory experience. Printers will find it hard to say no to you despite their apprehension, but then it will be your baby.

    Hello Shane,

  • How important is it to layer objects on the page for printing?

We are using InDesign CS3 on a Windows XP system and then sending to a RIP and then to an older Panther Pro 46 film printer.
We have lots of little problems, but one of the issues that happens occasionally, that we can't quite resolve is that for example...
When sending a job to the RIP 25 out of 26 pages will print fine (with all the separations and marks intact), but one of the pages, for some reason, is not properly printing the text or images (certain blocks of text print and certain ads or images drop out) and the marks are missing (registration, crop, color bars).
A friend told me that it is best practice to place images and text on separate layers. When we move objects onto different layers, sure enough, things start showing up. Unfortunately, this hasn't solved the problem completely. Sometimes, certain text would reappear while other things would disappear.
My guess is that we aren't moving the correct objects onto the right layers? Does it matter what goes on what layer? Does it matter which layer goes on top? Or is this all irrelevant?
Also, if anyone can point me to a good reference to press related resources. InDesign is new to us, especially on the PC, so I'm sure we could avoid many of our problems with some basic guidelines.
    Thank you,
    Joe

I also have an old RIP system although not exactly as yours. I have a page limitation (which is ironically 26). Anything over that page amount gave us issues that sound very similar to yours - Now, I just limit the number of pages per file. We prefer to flatten the files (now that we know the issue) as the rip will drop its own color space onto anything that has transparency. You may not have the color critical clients we do, but that is one reason why we flatten - and also that color is most appreciated when printed with its own attributes from a native file.

  • Select multiple frames across multiple pages for photos frames

    Hi people!
How can i select multiple frames across multiple pages? I want my images to fit the frames by one click. I do not want to go through each page one by one . There must be some way to solve this.. or? Cant find a options that can do that so far?
    Useing Adobe Indesin CS6.

    You can't.
You can do it in Find/Change box. Set desired Frame Fitting Options in Object section and run find/change.

  • I select a page for printing and the print page shows only the frame data and this is all that it prints.

when I click on print the page to print shows only the frame and that is all that is printed. Why isn't the page data shown on the print page and also printed?

This is how you do it:

  • How do I duplicate custom print layouts across multiple pages?

Hi there, brand new to LR. Using a Macbook Air.
I understand that in order to print 3 4x6 images on one 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper I need to create a Custom Package Layout and then manually drag and drop each photo into a cell. That's fine, I've created one page that meets my needs (has crop marks, leaves space between photos, etc.) and dragged and dropped my photos.
The issue comes in because I basically want to print 19 pages of this exact same layout but with different photos. Is there a way to copy and paste (or duplicate or something) the format from the first page of my template? So far it seems like I'll have to manually recreate the template on every page, then go back and add the photos.
    Thanks!

It is probably easiest to create a single page template and save it as a User Template. You will still have to go a page at a time and drag the pictures in one-by-one but you won't have to recreate the template over and over again.
I don't see an elegant solution for you, Sorry.

  • Spread image across two pages and print the full pages

    Hi there,
Im having a bit of trouble with InDesign CS3.
I want to place an image across two facing pages but can't seem to make it go further than one page.
Also I want to figure out how to print full pages, currently I am only able to print what is contained in the pruple bounding box on the page, any part of the image outwith this is cropped off leaving a white border on the page - this isn't an issue for all but my title page and this two page image I require.
    Any tips.
    Cheers
    malc

I don't understand the inability to place an image that spans two pages (not that I necessarily think this is a good thing to do under most circumstances, but that's a different discussion). Can you see both pages in the same spread? How about providing some details about what you are doing, and maybe a screen shot showing what's happening. Perhaps you're using a frame on the master page?
The second part sounds like a printer issue, but that's hard to know without knowing what your "purple" guides (presumably the page margins) are set to. Most printers are not able to print to the edge of the sheet of paper, regardless of what might be included on the page, so you get a white border that will vary in size depending on the printer model. Generally speaking, to print a bleed you must extend the items beyond the page edge (to insure there is no white edge left fom misaligment in the cutter) and print on a larger sheet, then trim to finished size.

  • How can tables across multiple pages be printed?

I've got DIAdem 9.0. I have a table on a report that has so much data it spans several pages. I can scroll through the tables with in DIAdem REPORT but I can only print one page at a time. Does anyone know how to print all the pages from script? Is there a way to print the page number like "Page 3 of 10". Thanks!

    Hi DIAdemon,
Before issuing the PicPrint() command, you can set a couple of DIAdem variables in order to control what prints:
    To print all sheets:
    PrintRangeType = "AllPages"
    Call PicPrint("WinPrint")
To print some sheets (for instance only sheets 2 to 4):
    PrintRangeType = "PageEnums"
    PrintFromPage = 2
    PrintToPage = 4
    Call PicPrint("WinPrint")
Also, you can insert text on each DIAdem-REPORT sheet that uses DIAdem variables to dynamically display page number information on each sheet:
    Page @GraphSheetCurrNo@ of @GraphSheetCount@
This will display the "Page 3 of 10" syntax that you wanted. Note that if you insert a new DIAdem-REPORT sheet, you will have to click View >> Refresh to get the page number information updated
    on all sheets.
