Duplicating a Movie Button

Hi all,
I'm currently adapting a flash site and am very much a
beginner in flash.
I have a site, and all the navigation links are buttons, with
a transition on rollover.
I now need to add an additional nav link, but the original
button transition is rather complex.
I have tried copying one of the current nav links, and
pasting it, but when i adapt the button, the original button i
copied it from changes too. Can anyone tell me if its possible to
duplicate an existing layer, and then change this layer without
adapting the original button?
I can adapt the action script for the navigation to link to
the new page, but its the duplication of the existing button
transition which is causing me problems.

there is no "copy and paste" involved here.. in your library,
find the symbol, right click it, select "duplicate" either leave
the name the same or change it.. then you can open that symbol up
and edit it as you will.. if there is another symbol inside that
symbol, you'll need to duplicate that symbol as well... say your
original was Symbol 1, and it contained Symbol 2 inside it.. so you
duplicate Symbol 1 and Symbol 2, which gives you Symbol 1 copy and
Symbol 2 copy...go into Symbol 1 copy, and select the instance of
Symbol 2, in the properties panel, click "swap" and find Symbol 2
copy, click it, and hit ok..

Can't find the "Video" move button on Apple TV to move Rentals from MacBook

Hi, I just bought an Apple TV. I had a couple of rented movies on my MacBook Pro and would like to watch the rentals on the Apple TV. I have already looked in support and it says it is possible to move the rentals to the Apple Tv by clicking on the device and click the move button. I have done this with my ipod before. When I click on the apple tv I get only "Summary" and "Photos" tabs. There is no "Video" tab as described on the Support website. Can anyone help me with this?
I have no problems watching or listening to my iTunes Library on Apple TV.

You have the tv set up to use your itunes library as a secondary library, change it to a primary library.

Actions on the main page..do they affect actions on movie buttons?

ON the home page I've created, the buttons I used with the
code in my previous thread ("two questions about HTML publishing
and buttons"), I added an on rollover action to the actions layer
of the main timeline (not the movie button timeline) so that on
rollover, a picture would change according to the button that was
rolled over. I did this for all three buttons. The rollover action
works great, but now the links don't work in either the html OR the
swf version. Would the added action disable the movie-clip button
actions? Here's the added main timeline code, edited for space:

When you add actions to a movie clip, they will take
precedence to any buttons you have inside the movie.
You can code the button however to control any movie clip as
long as you give every movie name and reference it from the root.
ie.
on (release)
_root.main.speller.nameframe.gotoAndStop(1);

Re deleting Play Movie button and associated links.

Hi - thanks in advance for any help to a newbie.
I have created an iDVD5 file from iMovie5. All went well with Chapter markers etc all coming through into my chosen theme. I started to customise the theme to my liking and noticed in the map area a file called 'Beginning' which was not one of my chapters. I saw that it was the start of the movie which I already had created a chapter marker for, and so I deleted it, thinking it superfluous. Subsequently, I noticed that the 'Play Movie" button had disappeared from the opening screen. The chapters are all intact and I can access and play these in the usual way. I can't, however, opt to play the full movie from the start because of no button or underlying link. Is there a solution?

Welcome to the discussions!
Glad you are using iDVD and making your project from iMovie! You have made an error with your chapter markers, and unfortunately, you would have had no way of knowing that.
You will have to recreate your DVD project. Go back into iMovie and delete your beginning chapter marker. As you have seen, iDVD makes the beginning chapter marker for you. Your movie will not play correctly if you do not let iDVD do this for you.
Relaunch iDVD and create the project again, then import your movie into the new iDVD....or you can use the "Create DVD" button in iMovie if that is what you did the first time and it worked for you. This time you should have all your chapter markers as well as the beginning one. You can easily rename that first marker in iDVD's scene selection menu, so that you can have it the name you wish instead of 'Beginning.'
Your movie should play and burn to DVD just fine now.

IN OPK4 u201COperation Indiv. Entry using Initial Scrnu201D Tab page and Check (u221A) the relevant Boxes to propose the Quantities and activities automatically by the system and save them. You can change the figures according to your requirement in COR6. When you are doing the Partial Conformations the second time then Enter the Yield quantity the press enter button to get the planned activities to be proposed by the system according to the yield quantity

Duplicated home movies

Hello. I am losing precious local storage to duplicated home movie content that is also on an external drive. I don’t know if the root cause is iMovie or iTunes. I could sure use some insight.
Here’s my hardware environment:
15 inch MacBook Pro mid 2010
Apple TV Generation 3 (ATV)
Western Digital My Book World Edition (Network Attached Storage - aka NAS)
Here’s my software environment:
Mavericks 10.9.3
iMovie ’09
iTunes 11.2.2
Here’s the context around my problem:
My goal is simply to play my home movies on my HDTV. However, due to my laptop, AirPlay is not an option. (My laptop does not support AirPlay.) Therefore, I use the iTunes-to-ATV connection. Since I do not want to use my local storage as the host for the home movies, I created an iTunes library on a NAS drive. To get the home movies into iTunes from iMovie, I use iMovie’s Share-to-iTunes option. The result puts the completed movie file in iTunes under the Movie section in the Library. Relative to where the iTunes Library.itl file is located on the NAS, the content is stored in a location named ‘iTunes Media/Home Videos’. However, the content is also stored locally on my laptop in the following folder from home directory: Movies/iMovie Sharing/iTunes.
The last clue I have to share is that in order to play a home movie on my HDTV, I must have the laptop open and running iTunes that is connected to the library on the NAS. The ATV then happily shows a listing of all the home movies. If I close the laptop, ATV responds with a message that says it can’t find the library.
Does anyone have insight into why the home movie content is duplicated? Is it iMovies that is doing it or iTunes? Is the duplicated content needed? Which content is actually being played onto the HDTV - the local or NAS content?

I'm guessing it is iMovie doing it. I don't use iMovie but I'm guessing it is keeping your regular working copy in the Movie folder and then at your request putting a copy into iTunes which then stores a copy in the standard iTunes movie location (on your NAS as you have it configured). If you get info on a movie in iTunes and look at the summary it will tell you the location of the actual file it plays when you play the iTunes entry you see. According to what you say this should be in the media folder on the NAS.

I've purchased Several Movies in itunes. When I go into purchases on my ipad and tap on the media button in the top left corner I don't have a "movies" button to click does anybody know why?

Films can currently only be re-downloaded in the US (and not all film studios are allowing their films to be re-downloaded) - elsewhere you will need to sync the films onto the devices that you want them on.

Amount of recent folders within Outlook available in the move button

I have Outlook 2010. When I move a message from the inbox to a folder called 'Second Folder' then the next time it is in the recent list of the move button. Only 10 foldernames are rememberd there.
Is it possible to set a key so that the last 25 folders is shown?

so do you mean to say, that for the second operation to get the additional issuance plus the original allocation, i must have issued them during confirmation of my first operation?

Duplicating a movie on another computer

Hi all,
Should I choose "Make movie self-contained" if I want to put it on a disk for my friend so that she can make copies on her Apple?
I have tried every way I know to send my burned movie to her in a way that will allow her to duplicate it. I made the movie in iDVD and have sent her the archive file, the disk image, the .dvdproj file. I've followed the steps in the Apple Help instructions on "Duplicating a DVD" (in the Disk Utility help menu). Nothing has worked – greyed out options, error messages...I dunno.
Anyway, I'm all out of ideas and just thought the 'self-contained' option might work. If that is the go, could you explain how to make a copy?

To create a video DVD with iDVD, first, from FCE, Export/QuickTime Movie; in general whether you set Make Movie Self-Contained or not does not make a difference. Then import the resulting .mov file into iDVD and create (using iDVD) an image file (.img) instead of burning a physical DVD.
The image file may be copied for example to a pen drive, so you can transfer it to another Mac and burn it there; or you can burn it right on your Mac using Disk Utility (it's quite simple: just drag the .img to the left pane in Disk Utility, then select it and click on the burn button). This DVD can be played on any DVD player.
When exporting from FCE you should set Make Movie Self-Contained only if you want to move the .mov file itself to another Mac (or continue editing after export) before importing to iDVD: in fact Make Movie Self-Contained ensures that all media for that movie are in the .mov file; otherwise this will be a reference movie pointing to media files in the FCE scratch directories, and copying the .mov file will break these links.

Movie buttons not highlighted

I have created and burned an iDVD project comprising several movies, each of which is made up of several movie clips. The title menu has movie names, each of which leads to a submenu containing the clips. When I play the finished DVD on my iMac, I put the cursor over a movie name but there is no highlight. If I click, I go to the first movie. The only way I can select other movies is with menu item Go>Title. When I play it in my DVD player, a small, barely visible arrow appears next to the selected movie name. I want all buttons to be well highlighted when I choose them – is this possible?

OK, by pointing to themes, you have inadvertently solved my problem! It seems that the crux of the problem lies not in modifying themes but in saving a modified theme as a favourite - at least that's my current theory. I have now saved a couple of standard themes as favourites (to avoid searching for them) and I use only those. Any changes to appearance are done only by importing image, changing font sizes, etc. Everything now works perfectly - thanks.

How do you make the movie button a screenshot or miniature movie?

When my main menu comes up, I want to add the first 6 or so episodes of a TV show. But When I drag the movies onto the screen, only a text button shows up. I could have sworn that some time before I got the video to show up as both text and a screenshot of that specific video. I'd love to have it so all six episodes have both the text title and a miniature playing movie from that episode, but I wasn't sure how to do it.

Did you first click on the lower right button's tab and select the one button style you want and thereafter add your QT movie. You should be able to get all six QT movies on there but if not just come on back.
