Duplicating itunes content on both of my computers

I was under the impression I could duplicate content on my Mac itunes to a work pc. I can't find how to do it. Can anyone provide some guidance. Thanks!

This is not as easy as expressed; For instance; PC's use letters to identify hard drives. Macs do not. When i try and transfer the itunes library to my PC running XP it shows up as unknown partition.
In my Imac, the disc shows in d=finder and all my data is present; What is the solution; Obviously it is not as easy as was expressed above.......
Help please.

  • I can't access the itunes store on both of my computers.

I cannot access the itunes store on either of my computers.  I can access my itunes music library however.  One computer uses Windows 7, the other XP. The "accessing progression bar" freezes at about 50% and I get a white screen that just says "itunes store."  I have tried unistalling itunes, quicktime and safari, and then reinstalling them.  I have itunes 10.5 installed now.  I just can't get the itunes store to load.  Why would this happen on both of my computers?

How to get iTunes Store to Work with Windows 7
First, Remove all iTunes and supporting software – and all “remnants” using Revo Uninstaller.  Ensure you set Revo Uninstaller on its “Advanced” setting.   You should be able to download a Revo trial software version at no cost.  Recommend one follow the directions posted at this website:   http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/23959/completely-remove-itunes-and-other-apple-so ftware-from-a-windows-computer/
The goal/intent of these directions/procedures is to ensure complete removal of all iTunes and its supporting software.  Make sure you get all of it, or you will end up repeating this lengthy procedure.
    Next, before reinstalling iTunes:
Start-> Programs -> Accessories -> (Right Click On Command Prompt) ->Run the Command Prompt as Administrator then type in:
netsh winsock reset, hit enter, restart PC.
After this procedure, then reload the latest version of iTunes Software and see if you can access the iTunes Store.
If the iTunes Store does not open or completely open after installation, then run this procedure:
Start-> Programs -> Accessories -> (Right Click On Command Prompt) ->Run the Command Prompt as Administrator then type in:
netsh winsock reset, hit enter, restart PC, open iTunes… then open iTunes Store (yes, this is a repeat of the command line you ran prior to installation).
After this procedure, you may find the iTunes Store’s “initial page” will open.  However, you may not be able to access any music within the iTunes store…   Ensure you are logged in with your name and password…
Once you know you are logged in with your name and password, then:
On the Start menu, point to All Programs > Accessories and then right-click Command Prompt and choose Run as Administrator from the shortcut menu. If Windows needs your permission to continue, click Continue.
In the resulting window, type ipconfig /flushdns and press Return on the keyboard.
You should see a message that the DNS Resolver Cache has been successfully flushed.
But wait, there’s more!  Now you need to go to the “Edit Button” of iTunes and select “Parental”.   Under “Parental”, check “Allow access to iTunes u” and then ensure iTunes Store is “unchecked”, then press “OK” to ensure this configuration “takes”.  Then, stop and restart iTunes.  You should now have a smooth running version of iTunes with full access to the iTunes store.  If not, then please modify these directions for those requiring a solid solution.  Thanks

  • ITunes content on iPod with 2 computers

I really do not understand what is going on with my iPod.  I normally get iTunes store content on my Mac at home.  However, today I did not do that and while at work on my PC downloaded a new TV show using iCloud.  I then tried to put this TV show on my iPod touch but got the strangest error message.  iTunes told me that this iPod was linked to another iTunes library (which it is, my Mac at home) and that if I wanted to transfer this content from my work computer, then I would have to link my iPod to this library.  Doing so  I am warned will wipe my iPod clean of all the other TV shows.
What is this error message all about?  Why can't I transfer a show I bought from Apple onto my iPod using my work computer without wiping my iPod clean?  Just exactly what is going on here?
    Thank you for your help.

Thank you for the link.  However, even if I follow the directions, and tell itunes that i will manage files manually, I still get the error message that my iPod is linked to another library and if I want to transfer over files from my second computer, Itunes will WIPE clean all the other content from my iPod.
VERY VERY frustrating.  I cannot use my new iPod with two computers.
    WHY?

  • HT4539 iTunes content in two places.  Need to consolidate.

I have my iTunes library with purchased and personal music on an old computer.  I recently purchased a few pricey items (audiobooks) using my new computer. When I synced my iPod to the new computer, everything was wiped except purchases. So now I have some items on my new computer and some on the old. I thought when I connected to the iTunes store on the old computer the new purchases would download, but they didn't.
I have Match, but I don't want to just access my iTunes content.  I want to download all my content to my new computer and be able to sync it to my ancient and beloved iPod.  I'm thinking if I move my iTunes to the new computer I will lose the new purchases on it. The best scenario would be to have my current iTunes content on both computers, downloadable to my iPod, and to be able to access everything from my iPhone (no problems there.)
Does anyone know a way to do this?  I have an external hard drive, but don't know how to use it other than a complete sync.  I have used it with the old laptop but not the new. The old laptop runs Vista, the new has Windows 8...and don't even get me started on that!  Suggestions anyone?

I solved the problem by myself.

  • I have my itunes set up on two different computers with different apps.  Today I am getting an iPhone, can I syn it to both computers?

I am receiving a new iPhone today and was hoping to be able to sync it to my laptop and desktop.  I have iTunes on both computers but my apps are on my desktop?  Is it possible to syn the the two computers with the one iTunes account?

An IPhone can be synched to one iTunes library only. So you'll have to copy all your content to one of the computers and use only that system for synching your iPhone.
    Regards.

    Hey Lakedrive442,
It sounds like you have changed your Apple ID which you use with iTunes.  If so there are several places you may need to update it as outlined in this article.

  • How can I share itunes content between 2 macs (both mine) in 2 different locations? Same Apple ID, same account, not the same network.

I haev a main mac at my main home which syncs itunes to my ipad and iphone with no problem. I want to access the same itunes content at my mac in my second home which is obviously on a different network. I have my ipad and iphone with me so they can be on the same network as the second mac. I can share the purchased itunes content but not the uploaded content. Any ideas?

Ok well that is not uploaded content. Maybe ripped content is a better term.
You can transfer purchased content from your iOS devices into the new Mac if you want.

    Help...please....Apple...someone.
The article lists this problem and of all problems, I would think you'd be motivated to fix the iTunes

I just saw this posted in another thread and it totally worked for me. I hope it helps you too.
"I had the same problem. But now I found a better solution. It is a bug in the iTunes app:
You have to go to Settings>Safari>BlockCookies and must change from "Always" to "From third parties and advertisers".
    After that iTunes works perfectly."

  • How do I remove my Itunes content and put it on another computer?

How do I remove my itunes content from one computer and put it on another?

This is not a massively difficult process and there are several ways to do this.
In fact you can keep iTunes on more than one computer (up to a max of five computers) and sync them via iCloud/iTunes Match providing you pay the annual subscription fee.
Also you can transfer files between computers by enabling Home Sharing on both PC's and drag and drop files via your iTunes side panel or alternatively you can copy the iTunes folders/library from one PC to the Other over a network and import the files manually via "FILE... add folder or add files"...
Easiest way I think is to ensure that both librarys are on the same drive (ie C Drive) and in the same folder (ie C:\Music) .. you can however use one PC's only to sync your iphone/ipad/ipod to ... otherwise you have to delete and resync and backup/restore your devices each time you switch between the PC's.
    Hope that helps

  • Home sharing working fine - but not for paid itunes content on some devices

My setup is a simple apple home sharing network.
I have a mac mini running OS X 10.6.8 and itunes 11.0.3(42) it hosts a lot of music, DVD's that have been re-encoded and paid for content from itunes.
The mac mini is conntected to the network over a very good gigbit lan and has 4 apple TV3 (latest gen) hanging off the network, and multiple PC/Mac/ipod/ipad devices hanging off the network.
All these devices connect using home sharing and work very well (I can use all 4 apple TV devices at once streaming 1080p media with no lag / delay problems)
There is one exception to this, my PC and Mac.
I have a Macbook pro running OX 10.6.8 and itunes 11.0.3(42) and a PC running Windows 7 64bit with Itunes 11.0.3(42). Both are also connected via gigabit lan, both run of SSD's so have excellent local disk performance, both have over 6 GB of ram at least.
If I open itunes and connect to the itunes home media server and play music, tv shows films all is well, ranging anything from a DVD rip to a HD bluray rip. as soon as I try to play a HD movie or TV show downloaded from itunes there is a problem. I get approx 30 seconds into the content and then it just stops as if I'd hit pause and never actually starts playing.
At first I thought this was buffering problems/flooding on my lan, so I isolated this, even though my network monitor shows lots of capacity on the lan, I removed all devices apart from the mac mini serving the home media and either the PC or the Mac, I hit the same problem.
To diagnose this further I opened a network monitor application on the PC, the playback mac and the media server mac mini and tried to open a file in itunes.
on the client and the server the network spikes straight away, and uses 100 network for around 5 seconds (if I do this with other devices such as apple TV's plugged into the network too the overall usage is lower, it basically uses as much as is availble, so %100 utilization isn't a problem) and then the network traffic just stops on both devices. The same is true of the disk activity, I see a raise is disk I/O on the home media mac mini for 4 - 5 seconds and then a lesser spike on the local playback machine both stop after 4 - 5 seconds in sync with the network stopping.
Both machines remain on the network fine, but the transmission of the media between itunes server and client just stops. I then open another file, a bluray rip, some music etc, and it plays works fine, return back to the paid for itunes content, it fails at exactly the same spot.
This happens on any itunes paid for HD movie or TV shows, so it's not just one file, it's approx any of the 200 itunes downloaded HD files I have on this machine.
I can play the files fine with apple TV's, I've tried watching 4 different apple downloaded itunes HD films at once on 4 apple TV's it works fine, it's only if I open the file via itunes with the PC or Mac.
All are linked with the same home sharing account so it's not / shouldn't be a DRM style issue.
Why is this happening on the more powerful PC/Mac computers, but not on the lesser apple TV, ipad, iphone devices ?

going to try to bump this to get some traction / suggestions on it

  • Using 1 External HDD to store iTunes content AND Time Machine Backup

Ok, I don't know a great deal about external hard drives but from what I've read, I'm hoping there's an option to use a 2TB hard drive to store my iTunes content, and as a Time Machine hard drive for backing up. Is this at all possible?
I have an iMac and a MacBook (therefore this would be quite beneficial). If I attach a 2TB hard drive to an AirPort Extreme Base station can I use Time Machine on BOTH computers, linked wirelessly to the one hard drive?
Is it just a matter of partitioning, say, 500GB for storage and the rest (1.5TB) for Time Machine?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ry

The best way is to partition the drive - one for your iTunes and one for TM backups.
Using a drive connected to an AEBS for TM backups is not supported, but it can be done. Use Airport Utility to set up the TM drive and turn on File Sharing. You will have to "mount" the shared drive before you can use it with TM. Same with the partition you would use for iTunes.

  • I purchased a new computer, how do i transfer all of my itunes content from the old computer to the new one with out loosing songs, apps, pics ...ect

i purchased a new computer, how do i transfer all of my itunes content from the old computer to the new one with out loosing songs, apps, pics ...ect

Copy the entire iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer to move iTunes content.
As for pictures, copy them from where there are on the old computer to the new computer... this has nothing to do with iTunes.
Alternatively, if both computers are Windows based, use the Windows Easy File Transfer Utility to move everything.
