Duplicating or moving resources

I sure am getting a lot of crashes if I try to drag and drop resources (a skin or something) from one folder to another in the tree. Also, I've always duplicated files in the tree with control-c and control-v and it makes a Copy of the file. Apparently that's currently implemented in the nightly build?

Bookmarks are either duplicated ort moved to the unsorted bookmarks folder; some are deleted and older deleted ones return.

I posted before how many bookmarks are deleted, duplicated, etc. ut what I am seeing now is that many are moved to Unsorted Bookmarks, Some are still being deleted, duplicated and ones deleted months ago return (happening less now). How do I prevent Firefox from moving bookmarks to that folder without my "permission and how do I delete automated backups as of the bookmarks (which I believe may be part of the problem). Note this happens after every PC cold start, has also happened while I was looking at it and all of the usual suggestion DO NOT WORK: deleting the "places" file, running that add on that supposed to fix it, etc.: ou can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox Profile Folder.

My URL has been duplicated since moving my site from another Mac

When I originally made my company site it was just a normal www.website.com and thats how it appeared in the address bar. I then moved the site to another Mac (cant quite remember the steps I used) and did some updates to it and republished it and now it appears as www.website.com/WebSite.com/Home.html. Nothing has changed with my hosting company or anything like that. It literally changed just from moving it to anoter computer which is why I suspect that something happened with the folders or something with iWeb. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, you have to choose. Do it the iWeb way, the situation you have now, or your way, publish to a folder and upload the content of that folder to the server.
As it was before.

Message duplicated after moving

Hi all,
an user has report to me that when he move a messge from his mailbox to his pst file he find a copy of this message in the recover deleted items window.
I've tryed to do the same from my client and I also have the same situation. I suppose that this is normal.
Could you please confirm to me this situation?

I actually reproduced the same on my Outlook 2010.
I would also say this is "normal", once the email is moved to the .pst file, Outlook regards it as "removed" from the Exchange Account, thus it appears in "Recover Deleted Items" so that we can recover it if we accidently moved the mail or even we
forgot it was moved to the .pst file. In my opinion, it's more secure, isn't it?

Duplicating FP Resource Comm

I have configured a set of FP modules (FP1600, 1 x FP-DI-330, 4 x FP-RLY-420, 1 x FP-RTD-122, 1 x FP-AO-200, 1 x FP-TC-120) - enabled watchdogs, renamed all the channels and modules, etc, etc and need to set up another 5 identical sets of modules - only difference being a different resource name and IP address.
I have duplicated the comm resource, renamed it and changed the IP address and can communicate with the other FP devices, however I've noticed that while the comm resource has a new name, all the modules under the new comm resource still have the original comm resource name associated with them. Is this correct or have I missed something. Is it possible/necessary to have this the same as the comm resource the module is under?

This is a cosmetic issue with duplicating resources/items in FieldPoint Explorer. It does not negatively effect the functionality in any way. FieldPoint R&D is aware of it and will address it in a future release.
As a side note, there is an additional step you must take to download the configuration into the network modules when you duplicate a configuration. For each bank (other than the first which was already configured), you must right-click on each I/O module and choose Edit This Device, then you should click on Channel Configuration, at this point a dialog box should appear letting you know that the current configuration of the module and the file (IAK) configuration are not the same. Choose the File configuration in order to download the in
formation into the network module.

How do you dynamically move duplicated _mc's?

Copying actions to a duplicated symbol

Hi
I am an newbie trying to take an existing Flash game and modifying it for my own selfish goals. I am duplicating symbols and trying to preserve all of their actions so that I can then swap them out for my own symbols. When I swap, actions are preserved, but I have run out of symbols to swap, so now I am trying to duplicate the remaining symbol so I have more to swap with, but when I duplicate the actions are lost. I have adjusted the actions code to accommodate more symbols ( or at least I think I have). Any help would be appreciated.

That code worked perfectly. All of my movie clips are duplicating and moving exactly as I want them too, thank you! Is it possible to move around the copies once they are placed down? Ultimately I would like to mimic some of Illustrator's functions with these movie clips and have the basic functions of pick up and re-place (moving), clicking and duplicating the instances that are on the stage, deleting instances, grouping instances ( and re- coloring the groups), copying and pasting them as a group, and saving and printing finished work. Resources and public folder database - migration from 2007 to 2013

Could you please tell me your Outlook version?
I saw someone got the following error when he tried to book resource after migrating from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010, if Outlook version is Outlook 2007. But Outlook 2010 worked well.
"Cannot directly book a resource for this meeting."
Please switch between online and cached mode to check the result. And please check if this issue occurs in OWA.
If possible, please use Outlook 2010 to check the result.

Migrating meeting resources from 2007 to 2013

Yes, I very well may be over thinking this, but I tried duplicating and moving it, but the text distorts slightly, which can be mostly remedied by rotating it on the x-axis, although the light is still off. And the shadows and reflections are not visible - this is pic1... In pic2, I used "rotate 3d object" with the green and red arrows, instead of just sliding it up the y-axis using the coordinates in the scene tab. Using the green and red arrows to move the text preserved the reflections but the shadows now aren't visible. It was also hard to align the text perfectly in scenario 2. Thanks for the help

How do I keep my manual reordering of photos when I duplicate albums?

Hello. I have a large batch of photos from a 12 day, family trip. Over 4000 pictures coming in from various relatives cameras, and my goal is to whittle this down and put together a nice slide show AND a cd that has the best pics in a chronological order (I want to make this as easy for Grandma to look at/download as possible). However, not everyone has correct 'time/date' settings, so Im spending a lot of time manually reordering. (because of the inconsistant source/time stamping, I cannot order these by 'name' or 'date'.
So, Ive sorted all photos into albums for each of the 12 days, and within each album I have two folders.
ex: FOLDER 1: ALL Wednesday Pics (653 photos), and FOLDER 2: Wednesday Best (52 photos).
Ive then gone into the 'Wednesday Best' folder and manually sorted the photos to make a more chronological order.
Ive repeated this for all 12 days. Ive got everything in the order I would like. Except they are in 12 separate little folders.
Where I get into trouble is I want to make one large 'master' slide show, but it seems every time I try duplicating/copying/moving a 'manually reordered' group of pictures, that order gets reset.
I want these pictures to remain in the order that I have spent hours and hours on. And I cant figure out how to do this. Can I lock them down or make sure this 'reordering' is set?
Any ideas?

Batch rename the contents each folder via the Photos ➙ Batch Change ➙ Title to Text with the option checked to add a sequential number to each photo. You'll get something like this: Photo-01, Photo-02, Photo-03.. When you're finsidhed with all of the folders put them all into a single album with the sort set to By Title. That will give you what you want.

Is There an Easier Way to Save a PDF for Perfect Binding?

I've always had this problem whenever I do a booklet or magazine that will end up perfect bound: I have my document setup in CS6 with "facing pages" so I can easily design spreads with images and backgrounds that span both pages. Usually, when it prints, it's saddle stitched, so I don't mind if the inside edge has contents from the other page since they will print next to each other anyway. When I've done perfect bound booklets in the past, I've always unchecked "facing pages" and manually duplicated and moved the image that span the entire spread to cover both pages. However, I'm currently working on a 48-page magazine and I really don't feel like doing this... specifically for fear of missing something and overlooking it so that it prints wrong.

This first one obviously has one background image that spans both pages of the spread
However, when I try to separate the pages. My same right-hand page now has no background. A good majority of the magazine is laid out this way.
Similarly, this spread with 2 full-page ads have no bleed on the inside margin for proofing purposes. If it were saddle stitched, I wouldn't give a second thought I'd just let the auto bleed pull image from the other ad. Who cares? They're going to be right next to each other anyway. But, since we're going the perfect-bound route, I need for each ad to have full bleed on all 4 sides. Is it just my neuroticism? The inside edge will be glued amongst 47 other pages. Will anyone ever notice that sliver of white, black, and red from the Sarge ad nestled in the spine when they're viewing the Sunrise Detox ad is the cutting is off?
I know you can do the "shuffle pages" thing to help with the ads, but I'm just hoping there's an easier way; a checkbox... something! C'mon, Adobe! You're #1 in the design industry and it's so difficult to work around the facing-pages-full-bleed issue. I know I'm not very advanced with my InDesign experience. But if after several years, many booklets, a few magazines, and a couple version upgrades, I'd like to think I would've found an easier way to do this. You know, kinda like how your new liquid pages features. That would be tremendous if something similar could be implemented for people in printing to quickly change between design spreads, proof spreads, and printing single pages!

If you have facing pages, you have to set up the document with facing pages that is what is it for. If you have a spreadwide design as above, keep the spreads together. There is not even one reason not to do so.
Only for wire-O-bindings might a different workflow useful, but also with facing pages documents and only when the left page and the right page have not a spread wide design:

1. Create a document with Facing Pages.
2. Select the Spread in the Page Panel (Window > Page Panel) and in the panel’s flyout menu deselect "Allow Selected Spread to Shuffle". The spread’s page number will appear in brackets.
3. Select a single page of the spread and drag it to the side until a vertical bar appears.
4. Now you have the result.
Left and right pages have their own spread and will have a bleed around each page without taking information from the other page.

Tutorial: Creating, saving and re-using Custom Shapes

I've beeen experimenting with custom shapes for the last couple of days, and thought I'd share some of the tips and techniques I found.
First of all, what are custom shapes?
Well, they're vector objects. That means that they are not built out of millions of individual pixels (like images are), but rather they're a series of mathematical statements that describe how to draw a line from point to point to create the vector shape. This means that custom shapes are "resolution independent", and that they can be grossly shrunk or enlarged and still retain razor sharp edges, curves and corners.
What are custom shapes good for?
Pretty much anything where you want to use a good, sharp object. In particular, using a custom shape as a clipping mask for an image that's been placed as a Smart Object is an outstanding technique, and really shows off the power that PSE is capable of.
PSE comes with a lot of ready-to-use custom shapes for its Custom Shape tool, and there are probably hundreds of thousands available on the Web -- just search for "photoshop shapes". Typically, those shapes will be supplied as Adobe CSH (Custom SHape) files, and simply copying the CSH files into the
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\Presets\Custom Shapes"
directory will make them available for use with the Custom Shape tool.
Sooner or later, though, you'll get the itch to create your own custom shapes. Out of the box, PSE does not have the capability to let you create custom shapes and add them to the CSH files like the "big" Photoshop does, so we'll need to use a workaround: store your custom shapes as layers in a PSD file, and when you want to use them simply copy them into your image.
N.B.: To create custom shapes you'll have to use the reasonably priced Elements+ add-in:

So, the procedure goes like this:
Create a new image, using the PSE defaults, and save it as "CustomShapes01.psd", keeping it open.
Open an image containing an object that you want to use as a custom shape.
Use any of the selection tools to make an accurate selection of the object:
In the Effects panel, use the Elements+...Paths effect and choose the Create New Path...From Current Selection:
Use the Elements+...Paths again, choosing "Convert to Shape", giving it a name and colour of your choosing. This will create a Shape Layer using that name.
Important: If your shape has "holes",
use the Shape Selection tool and click on the shape to select it. Then hit the "Combine" button in the Options Bar. This will combine all the individual shapes used to create the shape and its "holes" into one shape, and prevent beaucoup problems later.
Switch to the Move tool and drag the shape onto the tab of your "CustomShapes01.psd" image, keeping your mouse button pressed. That image will become activated and you can move your cursor onto the image itself and drop your shape onto it. Your PSD file will now have your custom shape as a shape layer:
Save that "CustomShapes01.psd" file.
You can repeat the process for as many custom shapes as you want, and they will each become a layer in the "CustomShapes01.psd" file.
To use your custom shape, open the "CustomShapes01.psd" file and your target image and do the drag and drop with the Move tool to copy the custom shape onto your target image.
I mentioned that using a custom shape as a clipping mask for an image placed as a Smart Object is a very powerful technique. It's powerful because the custom shape can be altered at any time and still keep its sharpness, and because the Smart Object can also be resized without becoming pixellated. Of course, that custom shape layer can have any number of layer styles applied to it and those layer styles will "follow" the shape if the shape is moved, resized or rotated.
Here are three examples of using the custom shapes as clipping masks for Smart Objects:
In this example, each custom shape is used as a clipping mask for an image Smart Object, as usual:
Here, one custom shape was used as a clipping mask for an image Smart Object and they were linked.
Then the shape and image were duplicated and moved, rotated and resized. Because of the linking, the Smart Object automatically kept its orientation and size relative to the custom shape throughout:
If you want to use custom shapes as a "combined" clipping mask, the procedure is a little more complicated because you need to get all your custom shapes on one shape layer.
So, after copying your shapes into the target image (as separate shape layers), use the Shape Selection tool to select one of the shapes. Using Edit...Cut will cut that shape layer to the Clipboard, and you can select one of the other shape layers and use Edit...Paste to paste the custom shape into that shape layer. Repeat as necessary, and you will get all of your custom shapes on one shape layer. Then use that single shape layer as your clipping mask:
The neat thing is that the individual shapes can be selected with the Shape Selection tool and independently moved, resized or rotated as necessary.

I forgot to mention one point about copying shape layers into one shape layer: when you initially use the Shape Selection tool to select a shape for cutting, make sure the option for the Shape Selection tool is set to "Add to Selection".
