It really depends on how willing you are to change business processes and how well laid out and documented your current processes are. I was part of a 14 month installation. I built a complete HFM/FDM set of applications in 2 weeks for another installation. If the tech install/setup is done and the data and processes are well documented, you could do it in a month. Without knowing more about your setup, I'd say 6 months.

Sequence In-Out Duration in the Project Panel?

Using Premiere Pro CC 2014.2, and wanting to view duration of in-out selections of multiple sequences in the Project panel before batch exporting via AME. The media duration display only shows full sequence length. Anybody have any ideas on how to view in-out duration in the project panel (I'm aware the duration shows up in the Program panel when a sequence is active).

searching for metadata fields, it seems to have no in/out duration. so might have to request for adobe to add it. Adobe - Feature Request/Bug Report Form
i did notice that if i load the sequence from the project bin into the source monitor, then change the in and out points to match the same as in the timeline, it will change the "video duration" metadata column to reflect the in/out duration. its also possible just to change the "video in point" and "video out point" metadata values in the project bin to get the matching video duration, bypassing the need to load the sequence into the source monitor. i also noticed when i export the sequence it will use the in/out on the timeline not the source monitor. this workaround adds extra steps, especially if changing the in/out points often.

How do you determine the duration of the project?

I want to know the duration of each project that I've
created. When I open the project, there is an information section
that tells me the size of the project, the time, the resolution,
number of slides, etc. It is telling me that this project is 5
minutes and 30 seconds. When I click on advanced audio, it lists
the time length of each slide. When I add those numbers up, the
presentation is over 11 minutes. Which one is correct. What is the
best way to find out the length of a project?

I think I'd lean toward using what you see in the information
section.
Consider this:
What you see in the advanced audio part is showing all audio
used in the .CP file. this means background audio (which normally
plays at the same time as other audio) as well as object level
audio (if you decide to show object level audio by clicking the
proper check box). And object level audio plays at the same time as
slide and background audio.

I need to calculate the the duration between the projects start date and the date (month and year) the User defines. Also wat charateristics do we use to to restrict 0DATE_KYF to differentiate between forcast date and actual date.Any help will be appreciated

You need to create formula variable for the date objects and used those variables to calculate the difference of the dates in either formula or calculated key figure.

Planned cost in the project

Hi,
I have created a project using Assembly processing with strategy 85. The planned cost of the project per month is say Rs 50,000/- The duration of the project/ internal activity is for 6 Months. The scenario is the planned cost is fixed for each month.i.e Rs 50,000/-. I have maintained 'Plan Price for the period' in the costing variant to get planned cost equally distributed over 6 months. But the report shows (S_ALR_87013532) the planned cost is divided over 6 months (Rs 8,333/- for each month)
Could any one help me in resolving the issue.

Kindly check in the Costing Tab of the Workcenter which u are referring in the Network Activity.
In the Costing u need to maintain the valid Controlling area , Cost center , Act.type.Int.Processing (Key identifying the activity type used in other types of internal processing in costing like networks) and Formula key for costing (Key which refers to the formula used to determine costs per activity type).
Unless these are not maintained cannot get the Actual costs(not planned).
Based on the hours (planned) mentioned in the workcenter , work to be confirmed(CJ20N/CN25/Cn27) to convert the planned hours into costs.

do not know exactly what kind of security you want to implement. But the below is the excerption from OWB User guide about implementing security at Project level...

Freezing Projects
If you want to freeze the project MY_PROJECT and prevent access to all its contents,
the following restrictions will apply:
You cannot create, edit, or delete any objects under a frozen project.
You cannot invoke any of the services that modify objects within this frozen
project. For example, you cannot perform an MDL import, a source import, or a
snapshot restore in this project.
You can deploy, export, and execute runtime procedures within a frozen project.
You can validate and generate within a frozen project.
You cannot add or remove any objects from a frozen project to a snapshot.
The frozen project security policy is implemented within Warehouse Builder through
the following files. These files are located on your installation CD under:
samples/security_feature/frozenproject.
frozenProject.pkb: Holds the implementation of the security policy.
frozenProject.sql: Contains a table of the structure as shown in Table 192. The
administrator can freeze projects by inserting them into this table and setting the
isFrozen flag to 1.

You can set the default duration of stills but you have to do it before you start the project.
iMovie is not really suitable for stop motion videos and iMovie 10 is worse than iMovie 9 because the minimum still duration is not really controllable as you have found. I don't have experience of making such videos but there are 3rd party apps which appear more suited to this, for example http://www.macworld.com/article/1146623/stop_motion_Mac.html
mentions some of them, though its a bit old and you may be able to find more up to date information.

Export Project and Change the Duration Cause the Finish date error

I use VB.NET to create a MS Project Instance and use this Instance to add task, and set task's Name, Start and Finish, the Project file is created successfully, and the Duration value will be automatically generated by Project, but if I change the Duration
value in Project, the Finish date isn't correct, for example, if I set the the Start is "10/21/2014" and Finish is "10/31/2014", the generated Project file has a Duration value is "9 days", and if I change the Duration value to
"2 days", the Finish date will be changed to "10/21/2014", why this problem happen? I have no idea about this problem.

when you set Start is "10/21/2014" and Finish is "10/31/2014", the generated Project file has a Duration value is "9
days" because it is taking Saturday and sunday as non working days.
By default in Project server calendar both Saturday
and Sunday are non workng days. If you want to make these day as working day you have to configure the calendar once you will do it then it will display duration value as 11.
When you change the value then after changing value click on Calculate button so that project server can calculate value correctly it is not required to click on Calculate
all the time but some time project server takes time to reflect the chnages but if you will publish the project it will calculate correctly and display proper finish date ( I
change the Duration value to "2 days", the Finish date will be changed to "10/21/2014 as 10/23/2014)

Managing the administration in implementation projects

Hi all,
I have been using the Solution Manager in implementation projects for 2 years now. However, I'm having difficulty on managing the project schedule using the administration tab in transaction solar01 and solar02:
1.     Unlike MS project, for example, you cannot define a connection/ link between the structure elements, which means that if you have to change the start time for a process in the administration tab, i.e., it has no effect on the other processes/ steps' start time, even when you know that there should be an effect.
2.     You cannot put partial person days, for example 1.5 PD or 0.4 PD.
3.     As far as I know, if you export the project structure to a MS Project file, it is not possible to import the changes made in the file back to the Solution Manager.
For that reasons, some customers and project managers prefer to export the project structure to MS Project and manage the project schedule and resources in that separated file.
I would appreciate it if you could give me an advise based on your experience, on how to better manage the times in an implementation project, using the Solution Manager.

I have also been using SolMan since May 2004 (from 3.1 days). Unfortunately, in my view, the functionality of Admin Tab hasn't kept up in pace as with other features of SolMan.
My suggestion is not to use it for active day-to-day tracking for the limitations you have pointed out as also for it not being the best-of-breed to manage Project Plans of a multi-location, multi-stream project.
I have, at best, used Admin Tab for Keywords and Team members - for information sake.
Also, if you use a Template Project -> Implementation Project copy, Admin tab is not included as part of 'Compare and Adjust' functionality - which means that if the same Team Members and Keywords are required on Implementation Project, you cannot get them inherited.
I am sorry that my answer kind of confirms your findings and helplessness as opposed to providing any solution. But, that's my honest sum-up as well.

How do I hide the duration on the TOC in an Aggregator project.

Hi I installed the widget to hide the duration on the TOC in my Adobe Captivate 5 project and it worked great. However when I combine the Flash files in an Aggregator project it no longer works and the duration is showing at the bottom of the Aggregator TOC. I have the TOC set to be the same as my first Flash in the project which doesn't show the duration because of the widget.

I think you'll find this widget was not originally designed to work with the Aggregator. Go back to the widget developer and ask if he has a version that does work with Aggregator.

Shorten Clips In The Timeline And Shorten The Project Duration

When I shorten a clip in the timeline by dragging on one end a blank space appears. I know this is in order to keep the project the same duration but I do not want this. I am happen for the project duration to reduce in accordance with my timeline clip editing, without any blank spaces appearing.
How do I achieve this noting that this seems to be a recent default situation, whether I use FCPX 10.09 or 10.01.01.

Thank you Tom and Luis, but I'm not with any of this. I can add a clip to the timeline or insert a clip into it via the "arrow tools". If I attempt to shorten the clip IN the timeline there is a blank space representing the amount trimmed from the clip.
I want the next clip along to that I've trimmed to automatically move along the timeline albeit shortening the total project duration.
Pressing "A" on the keyboard doesn't achieve this.
I simply click on the clip in the timeline to highlight it with the yellow margin. I then click on one "edge" with the arrows symbol and drag the edge inwards. This then leaves the space I do not want.
As for "Preferences" when I click this under "Final Cut Pro" i see nothing either relevant to this problem or that I could trash.

Set a custom duration field using VBA throws the message "Invalid duration" when reopening the Project

With a custom code we set Duration9 in Project 2013.
After executing the code everything seems to be ok.
After saving and reopening the Project it shows a message "Invalid Duration", and the value is shown as estimated (Questionmark).
In VBA create following code:
Sub SetDuration()
    Dim newVal As Long
    newVal = 14400
    Tasks(1).Duration9 = newVal
End Sub
Execute Code.
Close VBA.
Open the Project and you will get the same message box
The only way as far as I found out is to manually retype the Duration in that field. What is not exactly what I want.
Is this a bug in MSP or a hidden Feature? Does anyone has an idea?

I was able to replicate what you saw. I can't explain it per se, but this code seems to get around the issue:

You could add more content.
Or if the project contains stills, these can be lengthened. Double-click on a still photo to open the Clip Inspector. Adjust the duration by typing in the Duration box. Be aware though that if you have transitions either side of the still, you may get odd results with the duration. See this thread for more details:

Ways to find the exit triggering in the source code:
1)first way
1) If you hav that FM exit that was listed r used.
2) go to se37 and type that FM
3) In the source code of that FM double click the type of Message or
exit result which has the Z<include>.
4)IN order to disable the exit->
utilities->system->sattus->program->attributes->package
find this package
5) in SMOD->Prject->F4help->giuve package name-give the found ones
But here we cant see the implementation.

1)goto SE37
2)Give FM name
3)/h(Debugging on)
4) Display
5) Break points->statements->(messages if used in exit)->execute
Click on f5 until that Exit is triggered
6) go and find out for each type of exit message shown ie til that exit functionality is
actually triggered
7)once u find that exit ur looking for->
8)GOTO->SOURCECODE->give the include name that is found in debugging when exit is encountered
9)copy this include name(ZX..)->keep a comment forthat exit in this include(ZX..) inorder not to process.
10) se38->Zincludename(ZX..) and comment the code.
11)save check n activate
->SE37->
FM->name
we can now view FM.
3) third way
1)FM->Name
2)/H
3)Break point at CALL CUSTOMER-FUNCTION statement
4) It will stop at this exit.

Project Duration exceeds the maximum content duration ERROR.

I can't burn my movies with idvd. The following message occurs.
Project Duration
Your project exceeds the maximum content duration. To burn your DVD, change setting in the Project Info window.
Now, the file is about 690 MB, but the total time of the project is 1:30:00.
How do I get my movie burned?

Welcome to apple discussions. How many GB's of available hard drive space do you have currently on the boot volume? Assuming it's at least 25 GB's, then try making a disc image to the desktop from the file menu within iDvd. Then use apple's dvd player to test for proper playback. If you get to this point, then chances are it' not your mac but rather the media (assuming the s-drive is doing it's job and you are not trying to burn back to back dvd's w/o allowing the burner to cool a few mins.)
