Duration problems...

I'm having a problem with the video function on my Photo Booth. Anytime that i make a video it only saves half the video. So if i make 5 minute video and hit the stop key when I go back to view the video...I'll get about 2:30 of the video i just made.

Hello shotgunxbaby
If your post says that a 5 minute Photo Booth (PB) recording saves 5 minutes of audio but only 2:30 of the video, I cannot duplicate your Photo Booth (PB) problem on my G5 Desktop.
If you mean that a 5 minute recording saves only half of both the video and the audio, here are some things you can consider.
(1) Be sure you are keeping PB as the foreground app; i.e., you can always see "Photo Booth" by the  in the upper left corner of your display. My recording stops if PB is not the active app.
(2) Other things that might be contributing to your problem:
• Don't let your Mac go to sleep or allow its screen saver to work while you are recording.
• Check or modify settings of background apps that might be interrupting your Mac during your PB movie recording. Examples would include Mail checking for new email, iCal executing an alarm, your Software Update... performing its scheduled check for software updates.
I do not know that one of those might be your problem, but if you can find no other cause and you must record long clips with PB, those ideas may be worth considering.
(3) Also, be sure you are giving PB enough time to save your video recordings.
The suggestions offered in no video with photo booth recording may help you.
(4) Also consider these suggestions If your Mac runs slowly or exhibits any other problems in addition to your PB issue.
(5) You might try iMovie to see if it works better for recording longer movie clips on your Mac.

  • MP3 Duration Problem iMovie 11'

    Ok. So I am trying to put together a music video using iMovie 11, and am having the hardest time getting started. I put my selected video clip up on the dashboard to get ready to cut as well as edit the footage. When i put the Mp3(Song) on the dashboard it automatically cuts to the length of the amount of video footage that is on the dashboard at that time. I have tried to lengthen the duration of the mp3 using the settings feature given on the audio clip, but it automatically jumps back to the duration of the amount of video clip. Ultimately I am trying to lengthen my duration, and have my mp3 the full length of the song to stay for the whole project, which gives me room and a real chance to work with my clips. I figure that it is something very conspicuous that I am missing. I'm sure it is just a minor issue, and would love if somebody could help assist me with this problem. Please, and thank you your time is much appreciated.

    Use Imovie 8.0.6 its the last good version.

  • Is there a fix for "ebay" listing "duration" problem?

    This is what happens "every time" I list a new item for sale on Ebay and get to the choice of "listing duration".
    You normally have a choice of days (1,3,5,7,10). It's always set on one of them before I attempt to change it. It is usually on 3 days, but I almost always change it to "5 days". Unfortunately, when I choose "5 days" it automatically snaps back to 3 days. I end up trying to change this 15-20 times before I can get it to stick.
    Called Ebay support, and they suggested I change browsers. So, I did. Went back to IE and did not have the same problem at all.
    Just for fun, I went back to Firefox and again, as usual ... same problem. Just keeps snapping back to something I don't want.
    <nowiki>*******</nowiki> Now, I am here asking for help, as I do prefer using Firefox! So, if you have a fix for this problem, please share! *******
    Thank You.

    We can help you but you'll need to do me a big favor.
    I will need your Troubleshooting Information. You can find this by typing '''about:support''' in your url bar and pressing enter. On this page, you will see a "Copy text to clipboard" button at the top of the page. Click it and then paste all the information here in this thread.

    I believe one of your addons is causing this problem. You can try disabling them on your own and see if that solves the problem. To do that quickly, use Firefox's Safe Mode by doing these steps:
    *Click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]], click Help [[Image:Help-29]] <br>and select '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled....'''
    *Firefox will start up with the Firefox Safe Mode dialog. <br>Click the '''Start in Safe Mode''' button.

  • Image duration problem

    Hi, I have a problem with image duration in Motion 5. I want change duration to 0.50, but it doesn't works! Knows anyone someway how can I edit? I need it for my stop-motion animation. I've about 400 photos...

    You import them as an image sequence - name them sequentially, e.g. picture001, picture002, etc. and they will show up in the File Browser as a single file, and they will come in as a movie with one image per frame. This is completely separate from setting a still image duration.

  • Erratic transition duration problem - changes to 00:00;01 and stays

    FCP 5.1, Tiger 10.4.11 - FCP Rescue run, preferences dumped manually, FCP 5.1 (crossgrade) re-installed, and problem remains - i.e. Near the end of a 1 hour wedding edit FCP got really weird and I can't recover. While applying my transitions to wrap the edit it began changing the default transition duration time to 1 frame. When I try to change the duration it stays at 1 frame. Trick is, after each of the recovery efforts above the 1 sec default works for 2-3 applications, then reverts to unchangeable 1 frame. There are at least 5 sec on either side of the edit point.
    Please - don't pile on with "clean installs" and check the threads...I'm old, stuck in the backwoods with only dial-up and 10.4.1 discs. If you can help me I appreciate it and if not I'll pull the post. Thanks!

    Hi,
    welcome to the forum,
    Bearing in mind what you said in the last few lines of your post I would suggest to keep a positive and constructive attitude. People here don't usually make random and careless suggestions.
    Based on the amount of info that you provided I can only suggest two things:
    1) Delete all your renders and render everything again
    2) Create a new project and sequence and copy and paste everything.
    Genuinely trying to help basing my suggestions more on intuition rather than deduction.

  • InPoint, outPoint, duration problems

    Hello,
    I'm nut used to write in english, so excuse me.
    I just start to use After Effects scripting since few days,
    I have a problem and i'm surprised to discover that when i set inPoint or outPoint values of an imported footage in a script,
    result values are different because there is a cast from hh:mm:ss:ff time to a time in seconds (max 10800.0), the .ff is bad converted in seconds so that the final result is wrong.
    example : 11.18 is converted in 11.04 (because 18 is considered as milliseconds)
    Is there a solution to solve this with an existing method from the framework?
    Could we convert a time give by an user in the hh.mm.ss.ff format to a time in seconds format with an existing method?
    I also have problems with duration, with the addComp(name,width,height,pixelAspect,duration,frameRate) method, when i set duration in methods parameters, the result is equal the result-1f.
    But if i set it directly to the comp, it's correct.
    See you
    Thanks for advance.
    Frédéric

    Thank you James!  I used this feature a lot - and never understood why FCPro X couldn't do a few simple things we all took for granted!  Exporting a portion of a Timeline easily and quickly is something I do all the time.  But NOT with X!
    Now, you're saying I can.  Thanks very much!

  • Inputing score - note duration problem

    When inputing a score in Logic Express 7.2, I have a problem with note duration. Each note in logic plays 4 times quicker than I would like. For example a quater note on my paper note corresponds to a whole note in logic.
    At the moment to enter a whole note (according to my paper score) means drawing a whole note, and then draging the bar 4x the length in the matrix editor.
    I found somthing about gate times in the reference manual, but changing the gate time to 400% doesn't fix the problem.
    Any ideas?

    Thanks, but turning interpretation off still doesn't solve the problem.
    I have found the 'Half speed' transformation which helps, but still isn't ideal.
    Any further thoughts?

  • Audio duration problem

    I have a question about  incorporating audio without making the quiz duration much longer. For  example, I have a 10 second audio file that basically explains the  question so that kids who can't read can still participate. The problem  is when I import the audio to the slide the audio plays fine but after  they answer the question and try to move on, there is a long delay  before it moves to the next slide (8 seconds extra).
    How can I keep the audio, but eliminate that delay?
    Thank you,
    Andrew

    Hi There,
    You need to change the 'On Success' action in the Quiz Properties PI from 'Continue' to 'Go to next slide'.

  • Duration problem with animated gif

    Hi!
    I love the animated gif feature and have used it several times successfully.
    This time, it seems to ignoring my settings for duration. I've set the number as high as 1500/100, but when I preview in browser (Mac Safari or Firefox), the images just whip by. I did slice the animated area and optimize it as an animated gif and export it. When I worked with it again this morning, the first image reflected the 1500/100, but the rest are still racing. I've tried to attach file here.
    Also, I'm wondering if this really should be done in Flash rather than FW. The client wants maybe 5 or 6 images and with the 7 test I have now, I see we're at 216K file size. I don't know flash but if the blog theme we use doesn't have something set up, I assume I'll just outsource the Flash development.
    Thanks,
    Caryn

    Okay...it works for me, but....
    One thing to be careful of is saving vs. exporting. When you create your file, you should save it as a Fireworks .png document. Then, to produce your animated .gif, you should export it. I like using the Image Preview (under the File menu), as I can tweak any of the settings I want. Other people prefer the Export item and optimize their output.
    There are two kinds of .png files. A Fireworks .png has all the layers, vector shapes, Web layer, active filters, and special proprietary information that Fireworks uses. A flattened .png is just a bitmap, whether it has 32, 24, or 8 bits. There's no distinction between these files based on the extension. Another user once suggested using .fw.png for Fireworks documents and .png for exported .pngs and I found that a good suggestion.
    In any case, a good rule to follow is to use save when you want a Fireworks .png and export when you want a Web-ready bitmap of any format.
    So, this is my "but." I took your file and changed the durations of the other frames. I saved it as a Fireworks .png. I then went to File > Image Preview and selected Animated GIF as the format. From the Animation tab, I set the number of loops to 3 and exported. I then saved the .png again to store the loop information.
    Here's the .png (474k):
    Here's the animation (303k):
    Given that the .gif format does't have the colors to reproduce photographs well, I still recommend you look into image rotators. These are scripts that can cycle through a set of images. See this thread:

  • Premiere CC's XML and EDL files not being interpreted correctly by Redcine-X - clip duration problem

    I'm having a recurring problem when sending a finished sequence to Redcine-X for final color correction.
    Redcine-X doesn't read the in and out points on seemingly random clips in a timeline, making the problem clips overlap onto the surrounding clips on the same timeline track. So halfway through the video, one of the clips will just keep playing all the way to the end, and all the other clips that should be playing stay invisible in the viewer. Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas on how to fix it?
    The reason I'm posting here rather than on Redcine-X's support is because the problem seems to be coming from the way Premiere generates the XML. FCP's XMLs are interpreted correctly.
    I've tried removing all effects and speed changes before exporting XMLs from Premiere. I've restarted, trashed prefs and cleared cache in Premiere. I've tried on two different computers. I've also tried exporting EDLs and the same problem happens.
    My Premiere sequence is using proxy ProRes files, created from R3D files that RCX relinks upon import.
    System/Software info:
    Premiere CC is up to date
    Running the newest Redcine-X build 22.2.31684
    Macbook Pro Retina running OS 10.8.4 with NVIDIA GeForce GT650M 1024mb, CUDA is updated, 16 GB RAM
    Mac Pro running 10.8.5 with ATI Radeon HD 5870 1024 MB, 4 GB RAM
    As a side note: Premiere CC has been extremely disappointing so far. I'm having so many issues and crashes, so many advertised features seem to be buggy or not work at all, and Adobe makes it so hard find or get support. None of the threads on this community board have been helpful so instead of going through this arduous process I just fall back to using FCP7. I hope it gets better.
    Thanks for any help.

    Hey Sam... just wondering if you ever figured this problem out.  I have the exact same problem, albeit with FCPX XML's.  It's driving me bonkers and nobody seems to know.  Any insight would be truly appreciated.  Thanks.

  • Html5 audio duration problem

    Hi guys,
    I'm building a website using the HTML5 audio control. I'm having quite a trouble with certain mp3 files: it simply doesn't seek correctly when moving the slider. Specifically, I can move the slider to the desired position, but the sound jumps to an incorrect time. Therefore, when the slider comes to the end, the song is already playing, and the current time keeps incrementing.
    In addition, the track length (it's supposed to be a fixed value, loaded from the metadata) has a strange behavior given that point: it starts incrementing as the current time...
    I found no differences between the files that work correctly and the files that don't, but I suspect is a browser support related issue, since I didn't experience that problem using Chrome.
    Just in case, you can download the file here:
    http://www.4shared.com/mp3/JzSPjx3Qba/Quartet_12_Mov_1.html
    And this is the test code I'm using:
    <!DOCTYPE html>
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>Test Page</title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <audio controls="controls">
    <source src="Quartet 12 Mov 1.mp3">
    </audio>
    </body>
    </html>
    Thanks in advance!

    hello, if you think it's a browser issue, you can file a bug report at bugzilla.mozilla.org - there it should get the attention of mozilla's developers (whereas this forum is primarily staffed by volunteers and firefox users like you helping out).
    thank you!

  • Snooze problem since software update on N95

    I've had my N95 for about 18 months now. I don't use a lot of the things on it, but one I do use is the alarm clock to get me out of bed in time for work. I like to have a bit of "coming around" time so I usually have a few snoozes before getting up. I generally switch the phone off at night so I don't get woken by text messages and calls.
    This has worked fine since I got the phone.
    However, this week I upgraded to the new software and since then I've had the following problem -
    When the alarm goes off and I press snooze (which makes the phone switch off again)the alarm doesn't come on after 5 minutes. However, once I turn the phone on the snooze alarm immediately comes on even if this is 10 minutes after it should have.
    I tried the following test to try to replicate it once I had got to work. With the phone on, set the alarm for a few minutes in the future, then snooze - works fine. With the phone off do the same - works fine.
    So it appears that this problem either happens when the alarm is for the following day or when the phone has been off for some time.
    Has anyone else found this and does anyone have any suggestions of how it could be resolved?
    Thanks

    This all happened a while ago so it's going to be buried deep down in the forum. What I can do is summarize the problem here.
    If the phone was switched off before midnight and left off overnight the clock would jump forward several days from time to time.
    This would cause alarms not to go off at the desired time.
    The snooze function was dysfunctional. Regardless of the snooze time set in the clock's settings, if you decided to snooze an alarm it would snooze for the default 5 minutes and sometimes freeze the phone up when the snooze time was up.
    The workaround for these problems is to leave the phone switched on overnight, which is why I never noticed them on my N96 until reading about them here - I leave it on overnight. It doesn't fix the snooze duration problem but it does prevent the phone from freezing, which is a good start.
    I think you'll find that the Nokia developers are already aware of this problem. When there's a huge outcry of despair like this on these forums, the moderators do pass the information back to the dev teams.

  • Track Matte problems in CS4

    I can't get the track matte to work throughtout the duration. It starts fine in the beginning and after 3 secs, it drops the track matte even though it is set for 22 secs, giving me a completely mosaic video afterwards. I have tried shortening the duration and using multiple copies of it back to back, but no luck.
    My set up is:
    Video 3: Mattes created from Tittle in black and white
    Video 2: Mosaic effect on video, referencing Video 3 as track matte in Alpha
    Video 1: No effects.
    My final outcome is to mosaic specific areas of the video (defined by the Matte), with the remaining areas passes through unmosaic.
    Anyone with this duration problem?

    Cut the video in track two into three pieces same length as the mattes above.
    Each giving them there own track matte and mosaic effect.

  • Creative Firmware Probl

    This is a rant, and then I have a question.
    The Rant:
    I've been visiting this forum for a while. Our family has three Zen Nano Pluses. I do not understand why the quality of Creative firmware is so low, and I'm asking if anyone understands what the company is trying to do. Gripes about firmware: ) The firmware can be quite difficult to update. The directions for a Nano update are quite incomplete. Just search this forum and you will find MANY people who have had extreme problems. 2) Why is the firmware so crappy? For example, I recently changed to version .2.03. It solved a backlight duration problem, but now the cue/review function can not be changed from "OFF". Why is it that Creative releases firmware that has not been tested? Or do they test it and release defecti've firmware anyway? They spend a LOT in terms of time and customer frustration and increasing negati've reputation of their company each time they release defecti've firmware. Surely it is best to release firmware that has been tested, and works? Or do the writers of Creative firmware just insure themselves of a job by continually playing with the software? Or is there something going on that I do not understand If so, please someone explain it to me.
    The Question:
    Is there any version of Nano software that has all functions working?
    Thanks, and good luck if you update your Nano firmware.

    So, no one knows if any version of Nano software has all its functions working?
