During adding comments PDF got corrupt.

We have given the PDF to our client created using Export option of Indesign CS5 after that we make them comment enable using Adobe acrobat 9 pro software.
Our client freelancer used Adobe Reader XI (11.0.07) which was updated on 22/05/14 to give comments on that PDF.
Once again our client wants to add some more comments in the PDF using Adobe acrobat 9 pro. But during this the file got corrupt. Below is the statement given by them.
"I received the proofread corrections back from the proofreader last week but there were still a few extra corrections to mark on. However when I attempt to mark these extra corrections on the proofs myself and then save it, the pdf immediately becomes corrupt and unreadable. IT were unable to solve the issue but they said that it might be some sort of font error. Could you look into this to see if this is an issue. It might simply be the case that it is a very large file and so it has become corrupt for that reason. I’ve never had this happen before on one of my files though, could you let me know if you have heard of it happening or if you know of any reason why this might happen?"
We are also trying the same process at our end but there is no such problem face by us. We even try to add the comment in the PDF worked by freelance using Adobe reader XI but everything goes fine.
We are able to add comment in Adobe acrobat 9 Pro and no file corrupt issue face by us. Is it possible for you to let us know the reason of such problem at our client end. Size of PDF is 178 MB.
Even in acrobat reader XI we dont face any problem in adding comments.
Is anyone let me know why our client is facing this type of problem.

Linda, I'm wondering if there's some "conflict" being triggered because you're using both Win 7 and WinXP --
Specifically, I wonder if the two systems have off-kilter time stamps, and that's why FM is giving the "newer creation date" problem.
I don't quite understand what role the XP system has in your test, though -- can you not just use FM == and == make the PDF on the same Win7 box, make the comment on that box, then import the comments?
Understandably you will probably eventually need to be able to import comments from all sorts of other systems, but for troubleshooting could you try making the full create-comment-import cycle on the Win7 box only?
If that does work, then you might see of you can set the system time on the XP box to be somewhat slower than the Win7 box, and re-try with the XP box in the mix.
Edit: changing the system time clock is suggested only as a testing procedure, to see if we can isolate the exact cause, I'm not suggesting that in order to work reliably all your reviewers would need to synchronize their systems :-)

  • Allow user to fill in a fillable pdf but disallow adding comments and annotation

Hi there.  I have a fillable pdf created by livecycle designer.  I want to let users fill in the form but prevant them adding comments and annotatons to the form.  I cannot reset the above requirements in form property - form security if I have already set a password and allowed user to fill in the form.  Can I user javascript to that effect during the document loading?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
If you save the form as a Dynamic XML Form in the save-as dialogue, then the user will not be able to apply comments. They can only do this in flat or static PDF forms.

  • Why is FM crashing during import of PDF comments?

I'm running FM 9.0p255 on Windows 7 and using Acrobat Pro 9.4.5 (running in Windows XP on another computer) to enable commenting in Adobe Reader. After saving the file, in Windows 7 I open Adobe Reader 9.2.0 and make comments, then save the file. In FM 9 I open my 2-page file and import pdf comments. FM crashes. I've been trying everything to eliminate the problem, all the way down to creating an FM file with just the words "This is a test" in it. I went through the Acrobat comment process and added one word. When I tried importing pdf comments, I got this error:
"The modification date of the source file is newer than creation date of the tagged PDF. PDF comments may not be imported correctly. Click Yes to continue."
When I click Yes, FrameMaker crashes.
What is strange is that my FM file has 8/5/2011 4:39 PM as the Date modified.
My commented PDF has 8/5/2011 4:43 PM as the Date modified.
I've tried rebooting my computer and that didn't help. Does anyone know anything else I can try?

  • Cant save PDF after adding comments

Is it possible to save a PDF I have added comments to over the original file. The PDF I am currently commenting on is not read only but I get an error when I try save it over the original file.

I am working in Windows 7. The error I get states something along the lines of " File is currently in use and cant and cant be overwritten, If I enter another file name I can save the file. It could be a number of issues not relating to adobe reader but I am just wondering if Adobe reader allows you to save commented PDFs with the same name as the original document that was opened.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We're users here and do not speak for "Apple Inc."
Power on the computer and insert the DVD immediately.
Hold down the 'C' key to boot from the Snow Leopard DVD.

You'll likely need to partition and format the new drive before it's recognized.

  • Problem Printing Content from added comments

Using Adobe Reader Version 10.1.2 on both 32 and 64 bit Windows 7 installations
it is not possible to print the text from comments added to PDF's.
When there is one comment this works fine.
Where there are many comments they all print on the summary page one on top of another.
Does anyone have or know of a solution?
    Thankx in advance

I believe you are trying to do file->print->summarize comments which summarizes all the comments on a separate page and then prints it. It is the intended behavior.
If you would like to print comments as they appear on screen. Then you would have to enable the “pop up notes” from commenting pane in preference. However, all pop-up notes have to be expanded(by explicityly clicking on them) if you want to see them in your prints as is and then click print and not summarize comments. I hope this description helps.

  • Trouble adding comments using Reader X from enabled comments in Acrobat 9

I am a Technical Writer with Acrobat 9. Regularly I make my documents comment enabled for reader. IT has been updating systems and some of my recipients now have Reader X. Because of the difficulty they have, when they open the commentable PDF they are having trouble adding comments and wind up printing the document, marking up the hard copy, scanning it and emailing it back. What am I doing wrong? Is Reader X not downward compatible? We want to move forward with technology, not backwards.

Right click the document opened in Reader X and then click "Select Tool".
    Hope that helps.

  • PDF files corrupted, how to recover them?

I am using ubuntu 11.04. Few days ago, I installed wine to run .exe programs on the system. Somehow .exe virus flooded into the system & the entire system has got corrupted. Now I am unable to view pdf files as all of them are corrupted. How can recover them now?

Some viruses destroy all PDF (and other types of file) on the system. If this is the case, they are gone, and you need to restore from backup.

  • Saving after adding comments

I either scan documents to PDF using Paperport program (came with printer) or have PDF's emailed to me from others.
When I open PDF documents eg invoices, I often need to add comment/s and then save the PDF.
Everytime I go to save after adding comments/sticky notes, Reader x makes me save either to a new location or change the name of the document- then I end up with 2 copies, original and commented. How do I change it to simply save/overwrite document in original location with same name?
    Windows 7 Home

  • Data file got corrupted

<b>If the datafile get corrupted while creating, what should I do?</b>

    Hi
During creation of datafile, if the datafile got corrupted then you can delete the data file and recreate it again. The condition is that the particular data file has not been used after creation.
But if the datafile is created snd used, then you have to restore the datafile from the backup (use the Brtools to restore the datafile)
Please use Brtools utliity for the same.
    Thanks

  • Want to use Reader Extensions for highlighting and adding comments

    Hi,
The basic use for which we plan to use Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions is for highlighting and adding comments.
In a J2EE application, we create PDF document at runtime using (PDFBox). The purpose to use Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions is when the end user sees the PDF created he/she should be able to add highlights and add comments to the PDF document and save it back to server.
The question is what all I need to do. Just install Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions on the server. What should be done specifically when the PDF is created using PDFBox? Add any information to the PDF so that when PDF is viewed by the user he/she can add comments or highlight.
Can I get sample application and I also need Developer Guide. I think Developer guide comes with the setup? Did not find any place where I can down load a demo setup of Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions.
Can you please guide me in the right direction? I am collecting more information as I search the internet and go through the forum, but it will be very helpful if someone can give correct information.
    Thank You.
    Regards,
    Jay Chandran.

    Hi,
I was reading Adobe Reader SDK document (Acrobat_SDK_overview.pdf), in that it is mentioned under
    About rights-enabled documents:
You cannot programmatically rights-enable a PDF file.
Well I am confused, because my requirement is like this:
    1. PDF is created using (PDFBox) as part in a J2EE application.
    2. After the PDF has been created, from the J2EE application, the PDF will be send to LiveCycle Extensions to right enable it. (There is no user interface, and it is planned to be done programatically using Adobe libraries. The PDF will be send to LiveCycle Server and Right Enabled PDF will be returned.)
So if there is no way to "programmatically rights-enable a PDF file", how can it be done without having an web interface?
Just to confirm, PDF can be prgramatically right-enabled using LiveCycle libraries right? I have to right enable PDF files prgramatically and not using LiveCycle web interface.
    Thank You.
    Regards,
    Jay Chandran.

  • You click on a .pdf file; Firefox won't load and says "not a pdf or corrupted," but all other browsers open it normally

Clicking on a link to a .pdf file in Firefox results in Firefox displaying the box "Format error: not a .pdf or corrupted"
This has happened for several years with any number of web pages. A link to the latest event is below, but it typically happens almost every time I click on a link to a .pdf

Upgrade your browser to Firefox 9 and check

Is there a way in Pages to show and print all the added "comments?" (those you add by highlighting text)  I am a teacher, and I would  like students to be able to view my comments on printed versions of their papers. I know word displays the comments off to the side of the document, and those comments can be viewed all at once and printed alongside the document.

There doesn't appear to be a way to print conmments in either Pages or Numbers in the Mavericks versions.

  • How do i retrieve file vault protected files from an external hard disk that used to be my mbp's hard drive? the hard disk got corrupted and will no longer boot. I put it in an enclosure and attempted to copy my files but failed because of FV encryption.

This external hard disk used to serve as the main drive of my mbp. It got corrupted and the OSX would no longer load. I upgraded to a 500gb hd and used the old hd as an external drive. I tried to copy my files but i could not access them because of the filevault encryption. 110gb of hd space appears as used which means that my files are still in the drive. Is there a way to retrieve these files? thanks

According to your post, you're using Leopard, so FileVault only encrypts your user folder (unlike Lion). On the mounted external drive, in your user folder, you should see a file called username.sparsebundle, with username being your user name. Double-click that file to open it and it should prompt you for a password. Type in your password and the file will mount as a volume in Finder. You should be able to copy all of your files over.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?
