During restore iPod stuck on RESTORING IPOD FIRMWARE

As stated by me above, during restore iPod got stuck on RESTORING IPOD FIRMWARE. Last time tried different computer, it did work. Next, with different firmware file (when the-other-computer-trick stopped working) like 2.0.2 and then upgrading it - worked for a time. Now, I cannot find ANY way to restore it. Just by itself it accidentally and randomly enters the so called DFU mode and this time I just cannot restore it, every time it's stuck on RESTORING IPOD FIRMWARE

try have it restored in an apple store mate..
if that still doesnt work, send it back and have it replaced..

Hello, I keep getting the same message "iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes." at the end of every restoring trial. Seems my iPod and iTunes are stuck at this step. and my iPod wouldn't restart nor will iTunes recognize it. Can someone help? Thanks.

  • Ipod stuck in restore mode with error 1611,HELP

I have a ipod the is stuck in restore mode with an error code of 1611. I have tried everything that is posted. Any other suggestion?

Hey i HAVE/HAD the same problem but right in THIS moment i solved it! And i'm gonna tell you how:
    1) You have to uninstall ALL the programs that are from Apple.
    2) Go into control panel if you are on a windows and delete everything that says Author (Apple inc.)
    3) Here is a list of every thing you have to Uninstall:
    Apple application support
    Apple mobile device support
    Apple software update
    Bonjour
    iTunes
    Quicktime player
    Safari
    4) After that just go to Apple.com and download the lastest version of iTunes!
    5) Install it and sync your iPhone/iPod Touch out of Recovery mode.
i hope that helped you, it sure did to me. bye

  • Ipod stuck in restore mode, Itunes won't install.

Okay so first off, my ipod would not connect to my ihome and would say that this accessory is not supported by this device. And I looked online and apple said to restore my ipod. Itunes restored my ipod, but then said unable to restore. So my ipod is stuck in restore mode and itunes would not read it. So I tried uninstalling and reinstalling itunes. After i uninstalled everything when i try and reinstall itunes, midway through it says "service 'apple mobile device' (apple mobile device) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficent privelages to start this service." I really do not know what to do at this point. I need to get my ipod to work. When i go to device management it says apple mobile device(recovery mode). Please help ASAP

Yes i uninstall all itunes and everything that goes with it and when i reinstall itunes "service 'apple mobile device' (apple mobile device) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficent privelages to start this service." comes up and gives me the choice to abort, retry or ignore. and if i click ignore it doesn't install and then i am where i started

  • ITunes/iPod stuck at "Syncing iPod Do not disconnect" using Vista

I've moved about 40GB onto my 160GB ipod classic without incident. After my latest manual transfer of mp3 files iTunes and my iPod are stuck at "Syncing iPod Do not disconnect". I have installed the recommended windows Vista patch that allegedly fixes the Vista corrupting the iPOD at eject.
I Never had a problem with my windows xp and ipod 80GB Gen 5.5.
I'm pretty disappointed with apple's engineering. I think I'll go back to my Archos 605 160GB (much more reliable!) and return the iPOD to the store.
It's taken days to move 40GB onto my ipod I really don't want to do a total wipe of the ipod using the factory setting restore. Anything else I can try?

As a follow up. I reset the ipod. I plugged the ipod classic 160GB into a computer running windows XP and got the same result: stuck at "Syncing iPod Do not disconnect" and iTunes hung. My conclusion is that the bug is in the ipod and not Vista.
I agree with the poster that concluded that Apple released this ipod too early with inadequate testing.
Anyone else notice that each generation of ipod comes packaged with less extras?!
ex. with gen 5.5 you got a nice sleeve and a hard case with belt clip, with gen 6.0 you got neither. Seems to me Apple's policy has become: "we've got loyal customers, time to screw 'em over"

  • Click Wheel iPod Stuck At Frowny iPod

My friend has a very old iPod, one of the first click-wheels. The iPod never makes it past the frowny iPod and error with the link to apple.com/support/ipod. When i try to set it into disk mode, the error still occurs. does anyone know how to fix this?

I don't think it will do any harm, but I don't think it will help in this case. The 4th gen iPod existed before Intel Macs existed, so +Apple Partition Map+ was the only choice when they were new (unless they were formatted for Windows). So I think +Apple Partition Map+ is the better choice. Intel Macs can use either +Apple Partition Map+ or +GUID Partition Table+ equally well. I have a 3G iPod and a 4G iPod, and they use +Apple Partition Map+, and they work just fine with my Intel Mac.

  • Help: Ipod Stuck  on Restoring iPod Firmware

I left my iPod touch (1G) on overnight to let it update, some error popped up and said I have to restore my iPod, so I did. I left it on to restore and has it is taken 2 hours so far and is stuck on the Restoring iPod Firmware. Is there a solution to this. Also my iPod is already in recovery mode.

Also it was not and never has been jailbroken if that helps.

  • IPod stuck in restore process

Hello. I was restoring my 15GB iPod, the very old version (with the buttons on top of the wheel) and before finishing the restore process my computer displayed an error message. It said that the iPod could not be completely restored and that was that.
Now, I cannot see the iPod in iTunes nor will it work, it just displays the little apple logo. I tried everything that's specified in the troubleshooting documents on apple's website, reseting, etc, and nothing seems to work. It seems it got stuck in the middle of its restore process. All the indications on the troubleshooting documents imply that you can see your iPod on iTunes, nevertheless, I cannot.
Any sugestions? By the way, I am using a MacBook Pro with Mac OS 10.5.1, iTunes version 7.6 (29).
    Thanks a lot!
    Tiger

  • Ipod stuck in restore!

so i bought anipod 4thgen from a friend at work and i took it home to update and restore but when i tried it the apple logo with the bar under it would just stay almost done for hours and it wont complete itunes is up todate i even tried doing it on our other computer an still nothing btw not sure if this means anything but im on windows 7 pc can anyone help me not have to spend anymore money on this thing!!!???

First make sure you have the latest version of iTunes. If not go to the apple web site and download it. Then try putting the iPod into disk mode. To do that log onto www.apple.com/support and in the search engine put in 93651, this article will walk you through the steps of how to put your iPod into disk mode. Once you put it in disk mode and iTunes should recognize it. Once you see your iPod in the source menu under the devices, click on the iPod to pull up your summary menu. Down toward the bottom of the summary menu will be the restore button. That will fix your problem. One thing with the restore is that it takes your iPod back to the factory setting and you will loose all the downloads on the iPod.

  • Just fixed iPod stuck in Restore loop

Well I busted my iPod. So I purchased a hard drive for it and installed the unit. All my instructions (gleaned from boards and tutorials) said to connect the thing and restore the iPod. I connect it and it says it is in recovery mode and in order to use it I need to restore it. No surprise, I expected that. I click restore and enter my admin password. It seems to begin the process but then kicks out a warning that says it cannot restore because iPod is busy. I tried ejecting and putting into disk mode manually. I reconnect and the warning says the iPod is corrupted and needs a restore. I go through the whole rigamarole again and it says it is busy. If I leave it connected after the busy warning and click 'OK' then it automatically begins again, saying that the machine is in recovery mode and needs to be restored before i can use it. Same thing all over again...Click restore, admin pass, can't restore because the iPod is busy and so forth.
I tried ditching iTunes and re-installing it. No dice.
I tried erasing the drive with Disk Utility, but the erase failed citing an input/output error. the computer told me that partitioning the drive will eliminate some iPod functionality so I didn't try that.
I tried connecting it to my friend's computer. I got it to toss up a license agreement window for the iPod software (a good sign I guess) but I don't know his admin password to continue. The hope that lies therein is that the license agreement window for the iPod software pops up and that is something that differs from the process on my computer.
I tried going back to my computer and ditching iTunes again and reinstalling an earlier version. No dice. Earlier versions of iTunes will not recognize the library because it was created in a later version and therefore iTunes will not open.
I even tried giving the iPod the old smack in the palm of my hand like some have suggested, but again, no dice.
Any ideas on what needs to happen? How do I convince the computer that iPod is in fact not busy and really would rather restore itself? How does an iPod with literally nothing on its mind become busy and how, if it is, does it become "unbusy"?
(Update: I went back to my friend's computer with him there to enter his admin password. It now does the same thing my computer does and will not bring up the license agreement for iPod software.)

I had this problem today, and I think I figured it out. After multiple tries, and ITunes freezing up, I did a reboot with the IPod connected. I got a window saying that the drive was unrecognizable by the computer. It gave me three choices, to "verify," "Ignore" and another choice, I think it was "OK". I picked "ignore." Then I opened ITunes, it recognized the IPod, and it prompted me to restore again. This time it worked. I think that by telling the IMac to ignore the "drive," ITunes didn't see it as being busy. This makes sense to me, as I enabled the IPod to be used as a drive to store files. If this is the case, I'm surprised Apple doesn't see fit to provide decent documentation for these error codes or fix the problem in ITunes. Hope this helps for you.

  • While I was updating my ipod touch to ios 6 the battery got drained during the process, i tried restoring it, it couldnt now my ipod is stuck on the Apple logo screen.

while I was updating my ipod touch to ios 6 the battery got drained during the process, i tried restoring it, it couldnt now my ipod is stuck on the Apple logo screen.
Can anyone help me with this issue???

Connect your iTouch to your PC then open iTunes, if iTunes does not recognize your device, try to hold the SLEEP Button and the HOME button at the same time (iPod Reset) for a couple of seconds until the "Charging Tone sounds, now you should be seeing your device name in the iTunes " Device List". If you do, just click RESTORE and iTunes will automatically restore your iTouch to original set-up and download the iOS6 update.
    Hope this helps..

What type of security software suite are you running on your Vista computer? If it is one of the commercial ones, Norton, Mcafee, or the like, you are most likely suffering from the over zealous nature of these programs.
Are you sure you have top level admin access on your Vista computer. The fact that you can't use regedit to remove keys bothers me somewhat. But this is something for you to worry about. Here's what I would suggest you do:
    1. Remove all Apple software from your computer - iTunes, QuickTime, Apple Mobile Device Services
    2. Reboot
    3. Disable your firewall and virus checker.
    4. Download and install the latest version of iTunes.
    5. Re-download the 3.0 update
    6. Plug your iPod in and install the 3.0 update
If everything is working, then you can re-enable your virus checker and firewall software.
The most likely reason you have had all of these problems is the fact that Apple software needs to "phone home" during the firmware install. If it can't do it because of your firewall, then you are going to get various error messages and no success. The anti-virus software often prevents complete downloading of a file - again leading to errors.

  • Ipod touch (2G) stuck in "restore" mode.  Need HELP please

I have contacted Apple support several times since Friday and was just hung up on by an extremely rude lady in customer support. I am really frustrated and just trying to get my 5 yr old little boys ipod touch working again.
The situation is that our son's old computer crashed. So we have a newer computer set up for him. Reinstalled itunes on it. Called Apple on Friday, really nice rep gave me several instructions for transfering purchases, making sure everything was up to date and turning home sharing on. Did all that, got off the phone with him and then the computer tells me that the ipod needs and update.
Clicked ok, and update starts going for a few minutes.....then get an error message that says that the ipod is basically stuck in "restore" mode and needs to be reset to factory settings. It won't let me do anything to the ipod. It won't restore, reset, anything. Just shows a picture of usb cable and says to connect to itunes.
Connect to itunes and it keeps giving me say error message.
Will someone please help me? Apple support sure won't.

Did you try to connect in recovery mode, to start the restore process again? Connecting in Recovery mode is explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
Also delete the ipod ipsw firmware file on your computer, to make iTunes download a new copy to restore from. Depending on your OS, this file can be found here:
    XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates
    Vista and 7: C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates
If you're getting error numbers, take a look at this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1275
