Dust and debris in the Macbook Pro speakers

I've noticed that there is a small buildup of dust and debris inside the small holes of my Macbook Pro speakers. Can anyone recommend any ways of cleaning this debris out, such as removing the top cover, or using a suction device? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Either blow out the dirt with a can of compressed air (but not too close), or use a small vacuum cleaner designed for computer use (anti static). I wouldn't remove the top cover unless you are certain you'll put it back exactly as it was so as not to void the warranty.

  • Would like to know if I can connect a macbook pro and link to a PC in any way and still access the macbook pro's files. Display is out/have black screen. I want to back up before I send for repair, but don't own another mac to restart 7.

Is there any way to connect my 2011 macbook pro to my PC laptop (Dell) so that I can get files off of the Mac? The display on the pro is out and I've got a black screen. The computer turns on. Actually it turned on one time after many tries and when I took it the Mac store the guy hit restart before I could stop him. I don't have another Mac to back up files to in restart 7 mode and I can't see my external hard drive to copy to when the computer has no display, so I am at a loss on how to get the files. I would like to get them before I send in for repairs. Any suggestions are appreciated.

The only other thing I can think of is to pull the drive out and hook it to another machine with a USB enclosure. Something like this:
    http://www.amazon.com/Vantec-NexStar-2-5-Inch-External-Enclosure/dp/B002JQNXZC/r ef=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1388312417&sr=8-2&keywords=2.5+enclosure
Then you could read it like an external USB drive. It's easy to open up and get the drive out.

  • Fingerprint reader and Software for the MacBook Pro OSx 10.7.2

As in my other post I have just bought a Mac Book Pro 13" laptop.  I am in the learning curve as I have only worked with Windows for the past 22 years.
On my HP I had a built in fingerprint reader and I software installed that kept all my passwords (in a database on my pc, NOT in any cloud or web based progam) I use to log onto websites, logon to my computer.
I am looking for the same type of software and a fingerprint reader (small usb no wires if possible) for this MacBook.
    Any ideas?
Also, every time I download and install a application, I get a pop up asking for my credentials, how can I get rid of that "feature"?
    Thank you

What type of property do you have?  Seriously they are less frequent targets lets say.  So do you have AV, Internet security (AVG, AVAST, Norton or some other pkg) Malware software installed on your Mac?
    If so, why?
    If not, why?
Any thoughts to the question this post relates to?
    Thanks

  • Heading to Russia and wondering about the Macbook pro's care.

Hi, I will be heading to Russia this January and I was wondering if my mac would be fine in my bag if the weather will be bellow 40 degrees fahrenheit? Also what is the hottest temperature would it be fine in?

    Operating temperature: 50° to 95° F (10° to 35° C)
    Storage temperature: –13° to 113° F (–24° to 45° C)
Good luck - we've a few Russian's on this board - maybe one of them will share their experiences.

  • HT202856 What resolutions and refresh rates does the MacBook Pro support?

Why does this article provide lots of useful information EXCEPT the piece I want?  It does not show what resolutions and refresh rates the MacBook Pro supports over Displayport:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6008
I've heard it only supports 4k at 30 Hz.  Is this true?

For some reason Displays no longer shows that information, so I don't know what it is. However, the last time I saw the information on a 2009 MBP it was 75.
I'd think there is a utility around that might provide the info like Display Maestro 1.1.7 or SwitchResX.

  • Is the studio display an exact mirror of the macbook pro?

    Hello,
When an Apple Studio display 24-inch is connected to a Macbook pro, is the screen (picture) on the studio display an exact mirror of your Macbook or can one have an entirely different picture on your studio display.
As an example: Can I have Photoshop CS4 fully open on my Macbook Pro and excel spreadsheet/word documents fully open on the studio display? If so, is there additional hardware/software for this.

As I understand, can I have the display and MacBook Pro open at the same time, use different programs respectively, and still use the MacBook Pro's keyboard. Am I correct.
Yes. You can drag windows to the desired screen (or with many applications, even spread a window across both). The only thing you can't do is have the menu bar or dock on both displays at once. When run in full screen mode, some applications (such as QuickTime Player) will blank the other display. Others, such as Mplayer, can run full screen on one display and let you do other work on the other display.

  • Please update the specs for the MacBook Pro - 8GB RAM Max

    Hello,
Someone needs to upgrade the specifications for the MacBook Pro now that 4GB laptop SoDIMMs are shipping and compatible with the MacBook Pro.
See my blogpost on the subject at http://blogs.technet.com/keithcombs/archive/2008/07/05/testing-my-apple-macbook- pro-with-8gb-of-ram.aspx.
    Thanks,

    Microsoft

    Hello again,
Regarding having them update the specs, one can dream. Dreams are free. LOL. Hopefully the memory makers will update their specs as more makers start supporting a large memory configuration.
The 4GB sticks I am using are http://shop.kingston.com/partsinfo.asp?ktcpartno=KTL-TP667/4G
I did not do an extended test of the sticks in my MBP. Their home is in the ThinkPad I have because it is running Windows Server 2008 with Hyper-V.
As you can see from the link above, these little suckers are pricey. But consider the price of 2GB SoDIMMs were $950 when they entered the market a couple of years ago. The price will drop.
I asked the Kingston rep that sent these to me if online sites like newegg.com would have them soon. She indicated no, but the corporate buying sites like CDW and Zone would. So check around. They just started shipped a couple of weeks ago so be patient.
If you have any other questions, please stop by http://blogs.technet.com/keithcombs/archive/2008/07/05/testing-my-apple-macbook- pro-with-8gb-of-ram.aspx and ask there. I'll see them much more quickly.

  • Will the macbook pro 13" 4GB ram be enough to run LPX ?

    Hi there,
As you probably now know, Logic Pro X is finally out and it's time for me to update my old LP9 to this new soft.
I'm going to buy a new mac and here is my problem : LPX needs at least 4GB RAM to run, I was wondering if my 2011 IMAC 21.5" would run it and in particular the macbook pro 13" (no retina screen) would too - cause I need a laptop and don't wanna leave my Imac.
I'm not such a sound ingenieer but I don't wanna spend more than $1400 if I can't run LPX.
    Please give me advices
    Thanks
    Mike

If it runs LP9 ok, and you have a core2duo processsor upwards (or in otherwords a 64 bit processor) that can run mountain lion, then yes, will run as well as LP9 in my experience on older machines.

  • I got the MacBook Pro i7 15 inch with SSD and I am sorry . . .

it took them this long to come out with it and glad they did. My workflow is extremely fast and efficient. While using Photoshop and Lightroom and files around 74mb's each, my computer barely gets warm, loads these large image files in about 1 to 2 seconds and can do other things at the same time. If I have technical questions I call the help line and get a call back in 30 seconds.
Run time while working these files is a few hours on battery and I didn't expect more. So far I am a happy camper. I got 4gb's of RAM because after reading about the SSD and response, I felt I could get more later and cheaper, if needed. I am not sure what more RAM will do in my case as the load time with ALL functions in my image workflow are loaded in a blink of an eye, or faster but it is easy to do if needed. I also got the nonglare high definition screen and can really notice the difference coming form my G4 that is 5 years old.
No beach balls but one thing I haven't been able to get working is the TEchTool Deluxe. Since it downloads per advice of Apple I thought it was part of their system but it isn't so they aren't too much help, though they try.
The woofer system of the MacBook Pro is silly and not a subwoofer at all but other than that and the fact that one should really use external speakers for real sound, I am having a good time with this comptuter.

. . do that, have a leading line that is a beginning of a sentence.
I am enjoying this new computer and so far, it is living up to what they say it can do but it is actually faster than what I expected. I had read by some other where I post on image processing, that it still wasn't as fast as they would like so I am not sure what they are after. When I have an image of 74mb's that fully loads and is ready to work on in photoshop or Lightroom in 2 seconds or so, I can't complain at all. I also find that firewire 800 works like is is supposed to not as it did on my older Powerbook G4 that treated it more like 400 though it was supposed to be 800.

  • Using the MacBook Pro with external Monitor and Keyboard

This may be a dumb question, but here it goes anyway:
Can I use the MacBook Pro with an external monitor and a bluetooth keyboard and mouse without having it opened all of the time ?
I am planning to buy a MacBook for my wife and most of the time she will be using it at her home office.
I don't want her to use the computer opened all of the time when she is actually looking at the separate screen and using a separate keyboard. Having the laptop opened will only accumulate dust and reduce the lifetime of the built in screen.
What I would actually need is a kind of "docking station", but Apple doesn't make that - I know.
So can the MacBook at least be operated without the internal screen powered on while it is closed?
    Thanks for your help
    Martin

  • Bluetooth of the Macbook Pro 13 "(mid 2012) with poor signal and constant interruptions

I have a macbook pro 13" mid 2012, no retina display, with OS X 10.9.2 (Mavericks), and your bluetooth device it loses the signal when placing a barrier on the right side of the mac, the output of the optical drive (CD / DVD).
The signal is severely reduced. Just hold the Mac 's right, put my hand in front of the optical drive or turn the machine a little longer and the interference occurs.
I have a set of boxes bluetooth Sony sound and audio is constantly interrupted. I just put my hand in front of the optical drive, at a distance of about 30 centimeters (11.81 inches), and the bluetooth signal (RSSI) fell from -54dbm to -83dbm. The connection was lost completely.
Then I turned the right side of the Mac otherwise the speakers meaning and dropped signal of -54dbm to -75dBm. In this test there were no barriers in front of the optical drive. The audio suffered severe interference. The sound was inaudible.
I did other tests. The same loss occurs with the magic mouse and Apple keyboard bluetooh. Tests done in multiple locations without other nearby connections. Not occurring interference from other devices.
This is a feature of the bluetooth device mac or my computer has a hardware problem?
I thank anyone who can help me.
P.S.: Forgive me for my bad english. I used the Google translator.

    Hi,
I have exactly your same problem with one bluetooth audio receiver from logitech and one Macbook Pro 13", mid 2012, all the others computer are working without problem in my room except of the Macbook Pro 13", i've tried of one from a friend of mine same model and same problem. I really would like to have a solution for this problem, i have tried with give more quality to the bluetooth agent, using a command from the terminal, but is not really working . • How will an external Hard drive designed for the macbook Pro work with my White Macbook?  My  white macbook has a Firewire 400 and the G-Tech HD has a 800 to 400 compatible cable for the firewire.

I am asking this because I want the G-Tech Hard drive  says that it is designed for the macbook pro.  Yet, I want to back up faster with by using my firewire 400 which is not an option on the one designed for the white macbook that does not have a firewire (only a USB port.)  The G-Tech Hard drive comes with the 800 to 400 compatible cable and has 5400 RPM with 750 GB.  Also, I've heard that laptops with low battery (mine all the time)  won't have the power for a bus powered Hard drive (as in no ac plug in adaptor.)  Can I just plug in my laptop?  Any one know the answers from experience with this hard drive?

As far as I know, if a harddrive works with a Macpro, it should work with the Macbook: if your Macbook is low on power, plug in the AC adapter
If your Macbook has a firewire port, then it should be fine. BUt i would do somemore research first.
