Dust behind Zen sleek scre

How can you get the dust of if that happens?

It's been said that you can use a can of compressed air, aimed in the gaps between the player and the screen.

    hi,
i have a 5gb black zen micro i have had it for almost 2 months. after the first few days i started to see bits of dust and stuff behind the screen! has this happened to anyone else? and is there a way to fix it's
    thanks!

There isn't really any great way of removing the dust. You can try using canned air (to blow through the holes in the player, to try and shift the dust), but be warned that most canned air produces condensation which is obviously a very bad idea. There's some "flavours" of canned air that are designed for electronics (I've forgotten the exact name, but try searching old posts) and don't produce condensation.

  • Dust behind the screen of my zen sleek ph

Hello,?a while ago there started to form dust behind the screen of my zen sleek photo, and it is just increasing there is quite an amount of dust behind it now. I never take my zen sleek photo to dusty places and always treat it carefully. I would like creative to repair this or send me a new one since it's a failure of the device. It's not supposed to be possible that dust comes behind the screen and yet it does. If someone could tell me where i can get it repaired/replaced/or a refund that would be appreciated. regards.

I've had to return a Sleek becuase of dust too. It doesn't matter how many new Zen Sleek's you get, they'll all get dust under the screen. When I got my second one, the FIRST thing I did was wrap the whole thing (except for the headphone socket and usb sockets and the touchpad) in clear tape. I find you can still use it perfectly and the tape really isn't noticeable unless you look closely. This is probably the best thing to do. Canned air didn't work for me. I've only found dust speck under the screen since getting my new player and it's because of the tape.
One of the truly useful accessories lacking for Creative products are protecti've skins. People shouldn't have to resort to covering their player with tape.

  • Zen Sleek: Dust In C

I have read the previous posts about the Zen Sleek getting dust under the screen. Mine is too, and I'm wondering if Creative would be able to fix the problem if I return it, i.e. seal the unit somehow? If not, how would you use the canned air to shift the dust?

    Babylon5.
Sure thing. I bought it on eBay ... could not find this product anywhere else.

This is by far the best case I have found for the sleek! I wanted the Ghost White, but he was sold out at the time...so I got the Baby Blue. I know...Baby Blue? LOL ... but it actually looks very cool.
Here is pic I just took of my Sleek with the case on. I tried taking this in a dark room...so the pic didn't come out too good

  • Zen Sleek Dust Under Scr

Ok, well, i've had my zen sleek now for say 2 weeks and i've got quite a bit of dust under the screen, is this a normal thing or am i just being picky? i've contacted the shop and they said it is not under there returns policy.... i've emailed creative, anyone else had this problem?

I'm sure if you rant and rave Creative (or where you bought it) might well give you a new player, but the same will happen again because the Sleek is not a sealed unit.
What Creative should have done is provided a good quality case with the player which would help a little. But ultimately you either li've with it or try and shift it with electronics-safe canned air.

  • Zen Sleek Photo: support for Album A

As the title already says: will there be support for Album Art for the Zen Sleek Photo in future firmware versions?

Yes I also ask the same question. I ordered mine earlier this week and thought the sleek would support album art. I actually downloaded MediaMonkey and took about 6+ hours going thru and organizing everything and making sure every album had an album cover. Please Creative just fix this one setback and it would be an even sweeter player then it already is! I couldn't afford to get a ZVM but the Sleek Photo was the next best thing. Please we're not asking much just help us out. There are people out here that still use your earlier players and are being left in the dust...don't leave us there when we know that you can fix it or provide us a way to fix it. Thanks!

  • Really, really sad Zen Sleek ow

I bought my Sleek back when I had my old Dell Optiplex GX260. It worked fine with that. But now I have this customized lightning computer. I love this computer! It runs WoW just fine. It doesn't suck at anything!
Except... The Zen Sleek. This PC ceases to recognize the Sleek for more that one second. When I try to transfer music, 70% of the time it freezes the Sleek. And the ones that freeze the Sleek are never able to get on to my Sleek. Never. It works perfectly with another computer.
    Really odd?
When I unplug it my 'lightning fast computer' it crashes. Goes through startup process. Have to log in to Windows XP.
I have been brought to 3 possible things that would fix this issue.
. I only have SP2 on it. My old Dell has SP AND SP2. Perhaps I have to uninstall SP2 then install SP then reinstall SP2.
    2. The USB cables on my PC are defecti've. I need a new motherboard.
    3. The drivers aren't installed correctlty, which may be the probable cause of the forced reboots when I unplug the Zen Sleek.
And yes, the dust under the screen is really annoying, too. I might just sell this and go buy an iPod, who seem to have no problems at all.

Thanks, but I don't know what my motherboard is. I got my new PC as a gift for Christmas and my birthday (the two days aren't very far apart) and... Yeah. It's an ASUS motherboard, I remember though.
As far as the DM post goes, yeah. I've tried that a couple of times before...Message Edited by Protocol on 05-02-2006 03:4 PM

  • Zen sleek scr

i just got a zen sleek and i LOVE it... but i noticed that theres some stuff under my screen. I have already tried the canned air thing, and it didnt work well (but maybe im doing it wrong lol). There is like a piece of hair under the screen and when i try the canned air thing the piece of hair just moves around (it is like attached to the bottom of the screen), so i cant get rid of it. This is not a big deal, but if there is n e thing else i can try, help would be appreciated!

ryanoq9623 wrote:Yes there are definitely gaps around the screen. This is defintely a flaw in the design. Its like they didn't make any effort at all to seal the screen. I am aware that this kind of thing happens with a lot of lcd screens. But its not impossible to seal the thing. My cell phone is LCD, always in my pocket, and there is no dust in the screen. Its all about how the thing is designed.
On this point i have to agree, but at the end of the day it might not be all a design flaw, sure the design is to blame particulary if users of the Sleek can see "holes" around the screen. But as SSR has already suggested, this problem only appears to affect a small percentage of users of the sleek, so with that Creative are unlikely to revise the design of the sleek at this point in time. However, if more and more people are expirencing dust under the screen of their Zen Sleek, prehaps then Creative might look in to the issue.
But as other users have used compressed air to remove the unwanted dust, and been sucessfull at removing it, prehaps at present this is the only way any user can remove the rubbish that troubles them so.

  • Where is the Firmware for the Zen Sleek Ph

    Hi,
I've been having problems with my Zen Sleek Photo ever since I bought it 2 months ago. Every so often it would freeze on boot-up, so I would have to reset it with a pin to get it to start up. This morning it started going really haywire so I decided to reload the firmware - of course, my disks are at home and when I looked on the creative site here at work, there was no sign of any firmware for the Zen Sleek Photo (it's almost like Creative don't realise this product exists!). Anyway, where can I download the latest firmware?

I think Creative should add the Sleek Photo to the player list in downloads and add the latest version there (I have version .0.0e). I ordered my player in December (for Christmas). There are a few issues that I have addressed in my "A few annoyances with Zen Sleek Photo 20GB (Request)" thread.
Sadly there has not yet been an update to fix the artist listings etc. as mentioned in my thread
I got in contact with another Creative Zen Sleek Photo user who also li'ves in Switzerland and has the same problems (tracks not been sorted correctly even with correct ID3 tags, which work in many many Windows applications).
By the way, sadly the Sleek Photo gets a load of dust under the screen too, unless you are very careful. I have been unable to remove most of the dust even using compressed air! I would rather not have to get it replaced because of this (unless Creative makes a slightly new casing model to prevent dust under screen) as I would probably end up paying rather a lot for postage (it's going indirectly through another company)
I hope there shall soon be a firmware update addressing these things,
Thanks for any response to this,

  • Stupid zen sleek.

Im still looking for a decent case with a screen cover on for my zen sleek, do the noreve have a skin cover? because i keep getting dust underneath my screen... ino i wil always get it an dont want to wrap it in tape like others suggest, btw what tape should i use if i have to resort to it lol?

Scroll down a few pages... I had contacted a case maker who has a "User Request Form" on their website and they said if enough people fill in the form they'll start having cases made for the Sleek. If I can find the thread I'll bump it. It's called 'Sleek Owners Unite for Cases" or something like that.

  • Creative Zen Sleek and the Now Playing-part of the firmw

    Hi,
this week I got my Creative Zen Sleek. I'm very satisfied, except for one thing - the Now Playing-part of the firmware (the list with all the songs queued up). In the old Nomad Jukebox Zen firmware, the list was divided by artist or album name. On the Zen Sleek, however, the list is just going on without even showing which songs belonging to which album etc.
This is really annoying me - would it be possible to fix this, or at least consider the possibility for this to be integrated in the next firmware upgrade?
    Sincerely
    Hein Haraldson Berg

& Putting the X-Fi into Recovery Mode and selecting clean up seemed to fix the problem, but it does still come up randomly.
The clean up puts the player menus back to their defaults though... any chance that in a future fix for the player, this wouldn't occur?
