Dust between LCD screen?!

I noticed it yesterday night, at first I thought it was a dead pixel on my T400, but then I realized the color did not change when I did a test... That and when I put my laptop back in my bag and went back home I noticed the 'dead pixel' moved to the other corner, so then I turned on a brighter light and noticed that it's dust between my LCD screen.
It's annoying, and I'm feeling pretty OCD right about now, what can I do to 'remove' it, or would it be better to find a partner technician to remove it? Yes, my laptop is still under warranty.

Hi and welcome to the forum!
If you have warranty, then yes, the best option for you would be to contact lenovo service and have it replaced by certified technician.
Hope it helps.

  • Dust between LCD and glass

Well, my 3rd ipod touch was a week 38. It was great until I noticed there were a few specks of dust underneath the glass, one of which seemed to create a bubble at certain angles. I went back to the 5th ave nyc store today and they were very cool about taking it back. The genius actually said "Yeah, there's no way you could've gotten dust in there".
I've been finding that the 5th Ave store is so much better in terms of customer service than the SoHo store, so I will be doing business with them from now on.
So just in case anyone has wondered about this, the Apple store should give your an easy exchange for dust lodged underneath the glass.
And for the record, the dust-lodged ipod was a week 38 with corinne bailey rae on the cover. My replacement is also a week 38 but with Macy Grey on the cover. I'll see how it works out when I get home. I hope the 4th time is a charm!

It's usually only visible from up close, or under very bright lighting conditions. My replacement had just one speck of dust under the glass, and I figure I'm done with constantly exchanging my ipods.
If you really want to ruin things for yourself, take a flashlight up to the screen and look for any dust specks that you can't wipe away. You'll notice that they might be lodged underneath the glass. I discovered the dust when I was trying to clear all of the dust off before applying an invisible shield and discovered that a few specks couldn't be wiped away.
But I really would say, if you don't notice it now, don't look for it. You'll just make yourself evermore pickier. I wish I'd never done so myself.

  • How to remove the dust between Lcd and Front glass (Early2009)

I just bought the new Imac less than 1 month
then I found the dust over there
---Should I go to the apple store????

You can quite easily remove the glass front, it's only held on with magnets.
Use either a sucker, like that of a car sat nav or mobile phone holder, or if you dont have that, just get a bit of parcel tape and stick it firmly in the bottom lower corner and gently pull and the glass comes straight out no problems, peel the tape off, doesnt leave a residue then when you've done cleaning offer the glass back upto the frame and the magnets will grab it back into place.

The 3G iPods and earlier can get dust between the screen and the LCD screen.  See:

  • Dust *inside* the LCD screen?

Hi folks, when I shut down my Late 2008 15.4" MBP, I notice there is an increasing amount of dust under the glossy plastic surface, but on top of the actual LCD screen - between the two layers.
When I turn the machine on, I don't see it, but I'm afraid over time its going to get worse and eventually be visible when the machine is turned on.
Has anyone else had this problem?

I have exactly the same problem and mine is a early 2008 model. Two months ago, there were only 2 dots and now I can see almost a dozen. Some look like dust, some look like fungus.
Did you have the problem solve? and how?

  • Stuff between lcd and plastic screen

So I have remnants of ....dust, pocket lint...whatever, but it is in between the pastic screen and the lcd screen. aparently there's some space for dirt to gather there. Is there any way to clean that area out? Does Apple cover this? Big bummer if dust can get in the viewing area.

you may want to alert apple about this, seeing that this really shouldn't happen. try talking to the Apple Support by phone, they should help you from there.

  • Dust Between the Glass and LCD Surface.

I have a pocket of dust between the glass and LCD surface. I don't even notice that it is there until the screen behind the patch gets darker. Then my ADD kicks in and I focus on it intently.
Can it be cleaned by anyone and not cost me $$$$$ or void any warantees?

I recently had the same problem. I made an appointment with the Genius Bar at the Apple store. The Genius was able to replace my screen with a new one; It took about 10 minutes.

  • Brand new Canon 5d mark ii has dust inside of the LCD screen.. !!!

Hello guys. I just received Canon 5d mark ii + 24-105mm lens kit in the mail couple of days ago. It's an amazing camera that will help to improve my work. I didn't want to use the camera until I received the screen protector and the UV filter to make sure that the camera is well protected.  (My previous SLR ended up having so many scratches on the LCD screen)
So today I received the screen protector. I was cleaning the Lcd screen to install the protector and I realized that there is a dust inside of the LCD screen. I didn't even use the camera more than to see if it functions right. It's totally visible.
I was wondering if anyone had this problem with their brand new camera ?!?!
I know there is an option to exchange the camera since it's in the return/exchange period but I really don't have time for this. I have photo shoots coming up and I really can't be without my camera more than couple of days. Unfortunately they don't have the kit in any of Bestbuy location in Los Angeles area that I can go in and exchange.  They will ask me to return the camera kit to a Bestbuy location and wait for them to credit my Bestbuy card (which will take 3-4 days - and i don't have enough credit limit to buy another one right away and be patient for them to give me my money back ) and replace an order online again.
    Any advice appreciated...
    Thanks

First of all. Thank you for your reply. I actually realized couple of other things that made me suspicios that this camera was used before. Of course i might be wrong however - the package shipped from Bestbuy Return center + loose diopter adjuster knob before than even touching it + having dust inside the lcd screen + hair and dust inside the lens - made me really uncomfortable keeping this camera.
Don't get me wrong, I love Best Buy. I've been shopping from Best Buy for years. I have been purchasing many things every year and I really do trust them.  That's the reason why i didn't mind to have Greek Squad 3 years extended waranty package with my purchase. However spending almost $3500 for a top of the line camera and not having it flawless from the first day made me a little disappointed. That's all..
I will be going to Best Buy later today and return the camera. I am just hoping that they can refund the money to my card in couple of days so i can place an order for a new one. Even better if i can return the camera and they can place an order from the store for me..
Thank you so much for your reply again...

  • Clean out stuff between plastic screen and lcd screen

So I have remnants of ....dirt, pocket lint...whatever, but they are in between the pastic screen and the lcd screen. aparently there's some space for dirt to gather there. Is there any way to clean that area out?

First of all, no it didn't come like that. I've been using it since Christmas. And secondly it's on the face of the lcd screen and on the back of the plastic viewing area. I didn't know if maybe Apple covers this or it only fixes technical problems. I can just see a few spots when I'm watching video and it's very annoying.

  • Dust/hair behind/underneath lcd screen...

i noticed awhile ago that there was a small (dog) hair on my screen, along with other dust, that i couldn't remove. Just the other day, i noticed the hair had moved, and still can't be removed. It seems as if the dust and hair is under the screen. Is there a way to get it out? I wasn't sure if there was a cover over the screen that could be removed for cleaning.
i really appreciate any thoughts on this.
    thanks.

This problem happens more with laptops, just google for "dust behind laptop screen". Normally, a laptop screen is sealed off at the sides by rubber, so dust cannot get in. Somehow (perhaps due to age?), the sealing wasn't 100% perfect on your Macbook. Sadly, there's not much you can do about it, unless you're willing to open up the laptop. It's a major procedure for which iFixit has a manual:
    http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repair/Installing-MacBook-Core-Duo-LCD-Panel/311/13# s1213
But then again, that only might make things worse, or you might not be able to reach the spot in question.

  • 23" LCD screen (LG) VGA w/nVidia GeForce2 MX on a G4 Quicksilver

I just bought an LCD screen not too long ago, and it works fine with my old G3 (ATI 3D Rage Pro 6MB) although I have to use a Mac to VGA converter with it. However, on my G4 which has VGA and ADC outputs, when I connect with a VGA cable, the graphics don't look good at all. It's very streaky; for example, if there's a black terminal window, the black from the terminal window streaks across the screen. I think it must be something with the graphics card, although it worked fine with my older CRT displays, so maybe it's just a conflict between my screen and the graphics card (not sure what conflict, though). With my G4 I've tried it with Linux and MacOS X, and with my G3 I tried it with OS 9 and an older version of Linux. It worked fine in both cases on my G3, but in neither case on my G4 could I avoid the streakiness. Please let me know if you need more information. I appreciate your help.

    Hi-
Streakiness could be due to a poor cable or connector.
Having said that, it could be the analog side of the card is bad, or, simply that the Geforce2 won't do well with *widescreen LDC* panels through VGA.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25232
The Geforce2 MX will only do 1920x1200@60Hz from the ADC (digital) port.
Get an ADC to DVI adapter, and the problem is solved.

There have been three driver and firmware updates related to the early Geforce cards:

  • Why do panel array positions change when I move to a computer with LCD screen?

I wrote a program in the lab and then moved it to the production area which
has a computer with an lcd monitor. The program has 3 arrays of clusters on
the front panel and each contain both controls and indicators. When I moved
it to the production computer the 3 array moved somewhat from their proper
positions. Also, each one moved a different distance. I wanted them to be
aligned so I ended up moving them out of alignment on the uncompiled copy so
that the production copy would be aligned correctly. Is there something
funny about lcd screens? Labview property node reports they are already
aligned and of equal height. Is there a way of forcing the arrays to align
    no mat
ter what computer it is installed on?

I've seen this before. If the resolutions are different it scales certain fonts
differently causing your controls to move. You need to make sure your using a
common font type and size between them or change your resolution on your desktop
    to match the lcd's.
You can check the font on both machines to match them. One might have Arial 13,
20, 28 and the other Ariel 14, 20, 26. If you pick 20 it will go back and forth
    ok, properly scaled.

  • Poor quality glossy LCD screen

I'm really disappointed by the quality of the glossy LCD screen on my MacBook Pro. I have at least 15 grey 'dots' (the Genius at the Genius Bar said they're not really pixels since they're not completely square in shape), one clearly dead pixel, and I also have things that look like dust particles (like Kleenex lint) that's trapped in the LCD, about five particles clustered on the right edge of the screen. And it's just about a month since I bought it.
It just bugs me that they have such poor QC. The Genius advised me to call Apple Care since I purchased the laptop online. Hopefully they can do something about it.

I'm not aware of anything in the Hardware Profiler that will tell you which display you have. If you can see reflections on the screen (they are particularly visible if the display is showing something dark and there's something light behind you) then the screen is glossy. A matte display is like frosted glass so it won't show any clear reflections on it.
