Dust in the lens

Does anybody has dust like spot in the iPhone camera lens ?
Thanks

CLEANED OUT DUST FROM INSIDE LENS IPHONE 5, NO MORE DARK SPOTS
I've had 3 dark spots on my inner lens too for 3 months and I take lots of pictures and it was bugging me. After I researched here and saw that a lot of people had the same problem and I saw your video I knew there was a way to fix it. But first I went to the apple genius bar this morning to make sure and they agreed it was dust inside, He said a replacement iphone for me would be $269.00 since I was out of warranty. ***? Im sure I will upgrade to the next iPhone when it comes out later this year or get a iPhone 5s. But for now happy again with my iPhone 5.
But on the way home i happen to find a store called Digital Clinic in Torrance ,CA that opened my iphone and cleaned the lens for $25.00. ALL GOOD NOW!  THANKS AGAIN TO THIS FORUM.

  • How to deal with dust on the rear camera

So for some time now I have noticed some fuzzy dark areas on my rear facing camera, to the point where I can see dust on the lens but I can not seem to make it move. I have tried using compressed air to get it off but I think it is behind the lens?!? I don't know how that is even possible. However I don't know where to turn to get this fixed. I do not have apple care because a rep fed me the line that I was unavailable because I was over 20 min of talk time when I wanted to get it less than 2 weeks after getting the phone. Does anyone know what I could do? Thanks.

there is a huge long thread of messages about the camera dust issue:
Is there dust inside camera lens of iPhone 5?
personally myself would tell you if the iphone is out of warranty (you said you don't have applecare) and if the apple store won't fix it for you, then go to a repair shop that fixes iphones. look them up on yelp and read the reviews on the shops to find one you are comfortable with. yelp has been the best site that helped me in finding the best iphone repair shop in my area - look for lots of favorable reviews at the shops you may see listed near you to give you a clue as to which shops to narrow down your selection. another alternative is to do it yourself by opening up the iphone, simply lifting the camera sensor without disconnecting it, and directly blowing out the lens (which is actually part of the case) with that compressed air. can personally say this is relatively easy to do, but if you don't have the courage or incentive to do it, then don't do it yourself. if it turns out that the dust is actually in the camera sensor, then that part has to be replaced. get a repair shop to do that because that involves taking more of the iphone apart. the repair shop that has worked on three of my iphones would do a camera fix for $35. you'll have to call around in your search to find a shop and ask for quotes to do this stuff for you. the other alternative is you'll have the apple store probably suggesting that you buy a replacement iphone 5 if they still have them.

  • Dust Under IPhone5 Lens

I have an iPhone 5 that is out of the warranty period (purchased Sept. 2011).  I recently discovered some debris on the underside of the lens that is showing up as a black blob on all pictures I take.  I have read several posts about similar issues that have been resolved by returning the phone to an Apple Store with no questions asked.  In some instances, I have heard these are always addressed as no dust should be able to penetrate the lens unless it happened during manufacturing.
I should also mention the phone had an unfortunate meeting with some concrete that caused the glass at the top of the back of the phone to shatter.  The lens was not impacted and the debris did not show up until 5 months after the incident.
Is there a way I would be able to get the issue addressed if my phone is out of the 1-year warranty period?  It's not the end of the world if its not something they will support but just thought I would ask if the opportunity even exists.
    Thanks in advance.

Also, note that dust under the lens may not show up in images because it will be out of focus, but it will reduce the sensitivity of the camera.

  • Dust under the camera glass

I have xperia z3 dual and my phone has dust under the camera glass!!

Then i dont understand how could any dust go under the lens. Can you post a picture or something of the lens. If the device is waterproof and there is dust under the lens,  am i stupid to thing you putted the device into sand with opened covers?  There is no way of any dust coming into the lens if the device is waterproof and all covers are closed.

  • Fix for dust inside camera lens

My camera lens continues to accrue dust on the inside of the phone. This is an obvious design flaw of the phone as this is likely coming in through the back microphone hole.
I have read multiple posts on this issue and seen instructions on how to clean it off. What I am hoping is that there is a fix to seal the lens area so once it is cleaned, no further dust can enter. I would also like to keep the microphone active so noise cancellation continues to work as intended.
    Phone is out of warranty

I'm seeing the same thing on my iPhone 5. I just noticed it today so I don't know how long it's been there (got mine on launch day). Here are some photots I took with my iPad (only other camera I had). I have not noticed anything on any of the photos I've taken with the iPhone but, then again, I haven't done any extensive testing either.
Not sure what I'll do about it (closest Apple Store is 2 hours away and, again, haven't noticed anything on the photos I've taken).

  • How can I adjust the contrast of video on my MacBook Pro Retina so they don't look like they were filmed with an old sock over the lens?

I'd like to watch movies and TV shows, downloaded from iTunes or Amazon, on my MacBook Pro Retina, but they all look like they were filmed with an old sock over the lens. Daytime sequences look muddy, and night time sequences are incomprehensible with anything but the brightest objects rendered as black. I can watch the same files on my old MacBook Air and everything looks right, but no manner of tweaking seems to let me watch movies on my new machine.
I've tried adjusting the gamma. It's a bit better when gammas is set to 1.0, but I can't seem to set a gamma less than one. I tried using the Accessibility Contrast control, but it just lowers the contrast, swallowing my desktop into the dark abyss. I tried Applecare, but they don't have a clue. I tried the Apple Store. The "genius" confirmed that it is indeed impossible to watch movies shot anywhere but in the brightest sunlight on a MacBook Pro Retina, and it isn't just my machine, but every similar model in the store. He arranged for someone who really understands color profiles to give me a call, but Apple seems to have dropped the ball on this.
Is there some tool for stretching out the darker grays in Apple video? I don't want calibration. My impression is that my display, like the dozens I checked at the Apple Store are calibrated to make all dimmer grays appear completely black. I want uncalibration so I can actually see what is going on in the movies even if something is in a light shadow or shot at night. Hollywood has lots of trained technicians who can light and shoot night scenes that are quite comprehensible. I've watched a number of such scenes on my old MacBook Air. Now, I'd like to enjoy their artistry on my MacBook Pro Retina.

http://www.ifixit.com/ has directions for do it yourself.  Also look at PRAM battery instructions, as sometimes this can fix optical drive issues.
You can get external or internal drives from http://www.macsales.com/
I also suggest in the future, take care of this problem while it is still under warranty. It may have cost you nothing.

  • How can i remove dust from the inside of my iMac ?

    Good Morning (?)
Recently moved and there was a fair amount of dust in the new place, some of which has collected around the fan. Is there away to clean the dust that I would guess has migrated to the inside of the computer?
    Early '09 IMac.
    Thank you
    Brian

As old as your iMac is, have you cleaned out the dust? Dust buildup can lead to over heating issues. Remove any and all things plugged into it including the power cord, Remove the RAM access grille. Vacuum all openings starting with the RAM access area (air intake). Vacuum all ports and plugs, DVD slot and the opening across the top of the rear of the body. Blow compressed air through all your openings and vacuum again to remove any dust you loosend. Reinstall the RAM grille. Plug in the keyboard and mouse if not blue tooth. Insert power cord...

  • My camera is no longer working on my new HTC One M8.  I have searched for tips in trouble shooting, but no luck.  It's almost like the lens isn't working.  Did I set something incorrectly?  Any ideas how to correct this?

I also noticed when I tried using my Flashlight app I get a message that says another app is using your LED. Is this all inter-related?  How can I find out what other app is using my LED?

Thanks for getting in touch!  It’s so frustrating to have a new phone and not be able to use one of the most important features.
When I try to turn the camera on, the screen goes black for a couple seconds, almost like the camera is turning on, but there’s something blocking the lens.  Then the camera just turns off, and the screen goes back to my home screen.
I have tried uninstalling the Flashlight app, but that did not resolve the issue.
One other thing I have noticed in recent days is my battery is draining really fast.  I can’t even get through the day without charging my phone.  That was not the case a week ago.  In fact, that was one of the best things about this new phone.  It could go all day, and the battery not need recharging.  Could there be an app running that is zapping all my battery power and using that LED???

  • Apple, I have an iPhone 5 and the purple tint in pictures is real and is going to be the most costly mistake to have changed the lens to a sapphire crystal lens. This is HUGE! Why did you fix what is not broken?

Why, because some clumsy, careless humans couldn't stop scratching a less that 1/4 inch wide lens?  That is no reason for replacing the lens and pandering to their inability to handle advanced technology is not going to push the technology forward. Tossing out cheap cases like you did for the imagined iPhone 4 antenna "problem" will not fix this VERY real problem. I have been a loyal customer since 2005 and this, as stated in the title, could be your most costly mistake. Either your software engineers are going to have to compensate for the purple tint appearing in photos or you're going to sacrifice massive profits to physically replace the lens in every iPhone 5 you have sold and continue to sell. I've read that Apple customer service has tried to sweep this away by falsely claiming that the purple tint is "normal". It is absolutely not normal by any stretch of the imagination. Do not be silent Apple customers! Let the complaints pour like Niagara Falls or settle for the garbage that has been sold.
My former iPhone 4 took better pics.
I hope Apple didn't do the same with the pending iPad mini or this could turn into a maelstrom that even Steve Jobs would not have tolerated.
    Signed,
    Extremely dissapointed

    Read: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4436
It is pretty short so here is the entire text:
    Symptoms
A purplish or other colored flare, haze, or spot is imaged from out-of-scene bright light sources during still image or video capture.
    Resolution
Most small cameras, including those in every generation of iPhone, may exhibit some form of flare at the edge of the frame when capturing an image with out-of-scene light sources. This can happen when a light source is positioned at an angle (usually just outside the field of view) so that it causes a reflection off the surfaces inside the camera module and onto the camera sensor. Moving the camera slightly to change the position at which the bright light is entering the lens, or shielding the lens with your hand, should minimize or eliminate the effect.
Which is exactly what eelw wrote.

  • Does the Lens Profile Creator work with Photoshop Elements 8.0..?

    Hello,
I am very new to the world of Photoshop, so please forgive if this is an obvious/stupid question...
I am using Photoshop Elements 8.0 and I have a couple of pictures that I need to remove the 'fish eye' lens distortion from around the edges...
The blurb for the Lens Profile Creator says that it is for use in the "Adobe Photoshop® family of products"...
Does this include Photoshop Elements 8.0 or do they really mean it is just for Photoshop CS5, Camera Raw and Photoshop Lightroom...
    Any help will be appreciated...
    Many Thanks
    mc1903uk

PSE does not have the user-interface to turn on lens-corrections, nor does the ACR 6.1 update for PSE contain the lens-profile database installer, so if PSE is the only member of the PS-family that you have installed then effectively you cannot apply lens profiles.
If a computer has the lens-profile database installed and lens-distortion-correction has been enabled in the XMP sidecar for a particular image, both requiring PS-CS5's ACR 6.1-updater or LR3 to be installed and one of those used to enable lens-corrections for the image, then PSE can use ACR 6.1 to apply a lens profile, because the version of the ACR 6.1 plug-in for PS and PSE is the same plug-in.
BTW, removing fish-eye distortion completely, which is what enabling lens-corrections does by default, will leave a rather poor looking image that has been completely rectilinearized but has severe stretching of the pixels at the edges, so only the center is useable.  With my 8mm Sigma fisheye, I reduce the Distortion part of the correction down to 44 so the black corners are gone, but there is still some bulging of the image.
If you want to experiment with lens-corrections, you could install the 30-day trial of LR3.

  • I have the same case with you an iPad Air in dead pixel or speckle silver dust on screen.  It is been 3 months I bought in Avant Abenson in Greenbelt Makati Philippines. Today I decided to change my screen protector film but the speckle dust on the screen

Speckles dust on the screen and it cannot be removed today when I decided to change the screen protector film and noticed is not my fault it is a factory defect on screen it is either dead pixel or speckle dust on screen they are so many said and experience I have read.  So I need the replacement a new one for that dismayed screen on my iPad Air. I bought this 3 months ago in Avant Abenson at Greenbelt Makati Philippines.  I need the replacement for tomorrow I will go to the store I bought.  I love apple products but they need to replace and make go round to improve some defects and cannot be more escalate with this issue of the many of patronizing your products.  It is sometimes irritating to the eyes and seen dirt on the screen.  Thank you apple customer service to bringing up my complaints and a replacement for tomorrow's to inform the store I bought and advise them here in the Philippines to facilitate in regards to this matter.

I wanted to buy an ipad air to replace my ipad 2 but the one I wanted was (luckily) sold out.
Yesterday I tested the air from a collegue and I noticed the screen was SUBSTANTIALLY less sensitive than the screen of my ipad 2 when using my stylus.
I use Stylus R US especially for I annotate and with the air this did not work well at all... Half of the time there was no contact registered so underying certain parts of the text was a disaster...
Just working with the finger all whent OK... Just fear that another app I use a lot (notes +) will have same problem.
On the Ipad 4 also retina all goes *** smooth as on my ipad 2...
Is this a fault of a specific ipad air series? Or is this normal?? If it is I think this is truelly a huge flaw and I cannot see how not manny people using the ipad for notetaking etc did not notice this...

  • I have a problem with dust on the monitor (iMac 27).

I have a problem with dust on the monitor (iMac 27). it appeared after half a year of use (in a clean room is not dusty). Replaced by a matrix of times under warranty. But after a while, again, there were shortcomings in the upper corners of the matrix. The guarantee is no longer valid. Am I entitled to free replacement of the matrix or the display?

Re: I have a 27" iMac that has developed smudges at top left and right of the screen.  Of course it has just gone out of warranty. Anyone had a similar problem or found a solution?
