  • Dust under iPhone 5 camera lense, no warranty

My iPhone 5 has recently acquired some dust under the camera lense, which shows up in pictures. My applecare has run out, have I got any chance of getting any help from apple? I've read some threads saying they got it cleaned out at the apple store, is it possible they'd do this for me, even though I'm out of warranty?
    Thanks

Never take any photo with my phone?!!
Or spend hundreds of dollars to fix the camera? (I probably could buy a new phone with that much money!!)
I found the dust after my warranty expired, and I was told apple won't help me to fix it.
I never had any problem with my iphone4, which is a great product by Jobs. The iphone5 is very disappointing. You have to use a case to protect it from scratches. Many people found dust inside their cameras, luckily some found that problem during their warranty. I couldn't believe apple would deliver a product with so many problems to us, at least Jobs wouldn't.
During that one year period, I will assume the dust accumulated while being in your pocket.
I had a iphone since the 3GS and now a 5S and had a few dust in my camera lenses, but nothing that would impede me from taking good quality pictures.

  • Moist in Camera lenses - Camera not avaialable

After using my phone in the waterfalls, it got moist in the front/rear camera lenses as well as in the flash lens.
After a while, moisture was gone, front camera is working fine, but I'm getting a black screen when using the back camera. Then, after few hours, both camera is not working anymore and I'm getting "Error: Camera not available" when opening the Camera app. Also, tried using a Flashlight app, and it's not working.
I tried clearing cache/data of Camera app, resetting the phone and even "Repair my phone" through PC Companion. But still no luck, still not working.
Got a VIP card, but it says in the website that it can be used only within 1 year from date of purchased. Can anyone confim this??
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi icy11,
I agree with Uliwooly on this, only Sony Mobile within your region is going to be able to provide information regarding the remaining warranty on that device.
Let us know how you get on.

Mounting of externals where you are giving the command to delete images will certainly make a difference. Don't know if that's part of your problem or not, but in general, LR doesn't always do well with the X followed by Cmd-Delete (Mac)- sometimes it will say there aren't any, and I'll just repeat and there they are. I have tended to delete after a session, so never deleted more than say 50 images at once.
I'd continue deleting all you have so marked, then go through and hook up images with the ? mark, followed by deleting the Previews folder if the first two steps don't help. This latter is radical, but sometimes the Previews folder gets frazzled. What size .lrcat and what size Previews folder?

  • Can't Play Video Through To Camera iMovie Crashes

I was working with iMovie 3 the other day and viewing the project on my TV using my trusty old Canopus ADVC 100 with the "Play Video Through To Camera" option checked in Preferences. Today I went to preview a new project and iMovie crashes everytime it finishes loading all of the clips with the play through option checked. The only way to open the project is to turn off the ADVC and uncheck the play-though option and re-save. It will load whether the ADVC is on or off as long as the play through option is not checked.
    What could have changed?

    Hi David
This is a guessing question - so many ways things can go wrong.
May be You find some help in my list:
    Mac:
    - hardware
◊ Slow hard disk (fragmented: repair permissions, repair hard disk, use a faster hard disk)
◊ I wonder how full your Mac's hard disc is. (David Babsky) A near full hard disk prevents Import/Capture. 10% free is recommended + space for Import/Capture + work space (about 4 to
5 times the amount needed for Capture) eg on a 200Gb hard disk You need 20Gb + (one hour tape)
    13Gb + 50Gb = about 80 to 90Gb free space.
◊ Disconnect all other ext devices (FW and USB) exept Camera (and keyboard + mouse) and try again
    ◊ Reset PRAM
    ◊ Bad RAM-chips
◊ disconnect Mac from powerline (not just switch off, really plug out) for a few minutes to reset FW ports
    - software
◊ File-Vault is on - turn it off
◊ Something is occupying the CPU/System, like other programs, Internet etc.
◊ Do You have desktop pictures or screen or energy-savers active? Try turning them off.
◊ Updating - OS has to be a clean install - not an update eg from X.3.x to X.4.x (no good) OS X.4.0-5 needs a clean install to work (I use X.3.9)
◊ Updating QT and/or other updates (to 7 needs v6 to be cleaned out first) QT v.7.0.0-4 needs a clean install to work (I use 6.5.2)
◊ Have you tried the crazy fix: Open GarageBand, play a few notes, close it and reopen iMovie. The camera should import fine now. Sue/SDillini
◊ Running iDVD at the same time as iMovie can cause problems: (Lennart Thelander)
◊ If You also have installed FinalCut Express/pro there are possibly problems with this
    iMovie:
◊ remove bookmarks in iMovie project
    ◊ Trash: com.apple.iMovie.plist and com.apple.iMovie3.plist : files (Xinram)
    Connection:
◊ don’t Daisy chain Camcorder <--> external hard disk <--> Mac
◊ FW-wire cable, is it OK?
    ◊ USB/USB2 is NO GO !
◊ Cheque FW connection at Camera end. OK? (Adam Smith1)
◊ Cheque FW connection at Mac end. OK?
    Camera:
◊ The Camera is set to VTR ? (not as when You ”film” record with it)
◊ You may be need to go to the Camera menu and select digital out.
◊ defective camera TRY IT ON ANOTHER MAC ! (if the A/D chip in the camera is harmed then it will say in iMovie that the camera is connected and You can forward resp. backward the tape but there will be no picture or sound just the blue screen).
◊ connect camera to power-line, not battery-only....(Karsten Schlüter)
◊ Canons don't allow daisychaining on firewire, make it "only device" on port (Karsten Schlüter)
◊ Cheque the menu on Your Camera so that it communicates with the FW digitally to Your Mac
◊ Date and Time is correct on Your Camera ?
    Tape:
◊ Drop outs on the miniDV-tape - make a camera to camera copy on a tape which You have previous recorded with a time code (dummy recording).
◊ Break in the time-code on the miniDV tape (make a camera to camera copy on a tape which is pre-recorded with nothing/anything so that the tape has a time-code from beginning to the end)
◊ If You recorded in LP-mode (90 min on a standard 60 min tape with 12-bit sound). Try to change in iMovie pref. to import but not as individual clips. If this doesn’t work You have to make a Camera to Camera copy with the receiving Camera set to SP-mode and 16-bit sound.

    NEWS: Jerry Harris writes:
I know that in a lot of the new Sony HD cameras, iMovie requires that you turn iLink Conv off. I would look for a similar setting for your camera. This setting has to do with shooting a movie in one format, and using the camera to import as a different format. For instance, if you shoot HD footage and have iLink conv on - the camera will send DV to the computer etc...
So, case in point: look for a setting on your camera that has to do with the video format and see if that helps.

  • HT4101 Can I load photo's from my IPad back onto my SD card through the Camera Connection Kit?

Can I load photo's from my IPad back onto my SD card through the Camera Connection Kit?

No, it only supports the copying of photos and videos to the Photos app on the iPad, not from the iPad. You can copy photos that you've copied to the iPad via the kit to your computer : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083

  • If you clean the camera lenses on both sides of an iPod will it scratch the lenses?

I have an iPod touch 5th and 4th generation, and I was worried that when I cleaned my camera lenses with my shirt, that the lenses would be ruined or scratched. Pleases help. Thanks a lot in advance.

Sapphire is a very hard material, just next to diomend. Apple since now is just using the C-plane of sapphire for lense, I hope in the new future, it could be used in the cover or whole display. Becuase that can protect from so many scratch for users. Anyway, I am a sapphire lense manufacturer in China.

  • I want to download pictures from a Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo to my iPad 4. There is no cord for the camera and the USB dongle requires too much power through the camera connector kit. Any good solutions?

I want to download pictures to my iPad 4 from a memory stick pro duo. There are no cord connections for the camera and the USB dongle requires too much power through the camera connection kit. Any good solutions?

Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive (works the same with an SD card) into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

    - Reset. nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod
If still problem time for an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Why does my generator leak through the edges of the top image?

I'm using the ornamental generator behind all my pictures. I just stretched it across the entire timeline even though I only need it for some pics. But for the pics that I'm just using ken burns on, the generator is still showing on the very edge of the pics. Any idea why it leaks through like that?
Attached are two pics. First is the timeline and second is the issue.

Thanks Russ. Setting the Spacial Comform to Fill did the trick. I still don't get it, though. The image is bigger than the viewable dimensions of the video. Even if the generator is bigger behind it, I don't see why it would leak though, as the dimensions of the video box have already been purely filled by the picture. Nonetheless, your solution worked, so thank you.

  • Marks under rear camera lense cover. Sony please advise

Hi. I purchased my phone about just over a month ago. I started to notice marks on my rear camera lense. Cleaned it but the marks remain, only to find out that the marks are under the lense cover. How does this happen? I have not submerged my phone into water because even though this phone has a good IPX rating, I'm still not confident. Could you please assist? This can definitely not happen within just over a month.
