Dust marks on the 'inside' of display

I have had my 24" iMac for just under a year. 3 months ago, I noticed strange dust-like marks on the inside of my display. They are definitely on the inside because i tried cleaning the display and they did not go away.
This suggests that the iMac is not air-tight, which is not really a good sign. Now I am left with these annoying marks.
It is not the end of the world - but disappointing seeing as it is not even a year old.
Can anyone suggest what I should do to fix this problem? Any help appreciated.
Many thanks.

I would do it myself since it's me, as I don't trust Apple technicians to do any sort of cleaning. Everytime I took an Apple product in to the Apple Store for repairs for example, they always wind up back dirty, tons of scratches, fingerprints, etc.
Just don't use a toilet plunger or high adhesive tape, go with one or two small sized suction cups, a pair of latex gloves, and some preferably brand new microfiber cloths. Some compressed air would be a good idea as well.
Course if you don't feel comfortable about taking the glass screen apart, I would hand it over Apple. Just tell them you don't want any fingerprints or more dust in there than there already is.

  • Flashing folder with question mark on the inside at  start up

My macbook only has a flashing folder with a question mark in it and it clicks.

Flashing questions mark indicates Nac can find a valid system to boot from.

    Do you have backup?
Probably is time to take it to Apple Store to have them repair it for you.

  • How can i remove dust from the inside of my iMac ?

    Good Morning (?)
Recently moved and there was a fair amount of dust in the new place, some of which has collected around the fan. Is there away to clean the dust that I would guess has migrated to the inside of the computer?

As old as your iMac is, have you cleaned out the dust? Dust buildup can lead to over heating issues. Remove any and all things plugged into it including the power cord, Remove the RAM access grille. Vacuum all openings starting with the RAM access area (air intake). Vacuum all ports and plugs, DVD slot and the opening across the top of the rear of the body. Blow compressed air through all your openings and vacuum again to remove any dust you loosend. Reinstall the RAM grille. Plug in the keyboard and mouse if not blue tooth. Insert power cord...

  • How can I get rid of a "speck" on the inside  of my iMac's display? please help me. T_T

I have a Mid 2011 21.5 baseline iMac which I bought in March 2012. I noticed it just a couple of days ago, there's a tiny grey "speck" in the middle of my screen. I initially thought it was a speck of dust, which I tried to clean off with a microfiber cloth. Well, it didn't come off. I realized that it was on the inside portion of the glass cover. It's is neglegible when the the screen has a dark image but becomes visible when I use a white background like when I use Pages. There are also severaly tiny grey bubles at the bottom black portion of the glass cover. Ther's also a tiny "crack" like something on the top right area (or maybe just a speck of dust, I'm getting a bit paranoid). I'm kinda OCD about my iMac and this is driving me crazy. Any help would be appreciated.

It's under warranty, take it in.

Suddenly, my macbook pro has experienced problems. When I turn on my computer, the white screen displays a flashing file folder icon with a quesrion mark in the middle. Has my hard drive burnt out? Thank you in advance for any helpful suggestions..

It means your computer is search for a start up volume.  You need to reboot into recovery mode and attempt to repair your disk.  To do this restart the computer and hold the keys:
    <command> + r
    Then open Disk utility.

  • Dust Inside 23" Display

I've owned this 23" aluminum display since 2005 and it's been flawless, however, recently we moved our office to a new building. There was still some construction dust floating around after setting up the computers and displays. I wiped the display down with a microfiber towel but there was still some dust along the lower edge of the screen. I had a small compressor with a blow tip handy and, with the monitor still on, blew off the display. I immediately noticed several small gray specks that appeared to be between the light source and the LCD. I took a screen snapshot and confirmed that it was, in fact, dust between the two layers.
Is this display ruined? Can it be disassembled and cleaned by myself or a repair facility? Has someone had a similar situation that can comment?

Take it to an Apple Retail Store and try to get it exchanged.

  • Anyone else has interior dust traces on the display?

does anyone else has interior dust traces on the display? is it covered by waranty or not? thx

    Hello Andrew:
That site has BIG problems. It _sort of_ loaded, but I watched the spinning color wheel of death for about two minutes. My system was essentially locked up. I had to force quit Safari to get out of it.
They should put up a sign +"dangerous to your computer that runs Safari."+
I suggest (if you care about visiting the site) that you E-mail them and tell them something in their web code is not playing well with Safari (a browser written to standards).

As long as there are no confounding factors, such as certain extensions, or a user.jsfile the procedure is as follows
    # Open a new tab and type "about:config" in the address bar.
    # In the Search bar type: "newtab"
    # Locate and double click "browser.newtab.url"
    # In the "Enter String Value" box change "'''about:newtab'''" to "'''about:blank'''" and click OK.
    # Verify that the value has changed and now all new tabs will be blank.

Have to say that I rather agree with Mark..all we want is a simple, unadorned clean page that doe not track and show usage!! WHY NOT!! Is it too simple for developers..we aren't all (nor do we want to be!) software experts! Come on Mozilla..tidy up and clean up..it might be a quicker programme too!!

I could even remap any of the default hotkeys if someone knows how to do that as well, as the defaults are not too useful for me...

  • How to add a flex marker on the right edge?

When I place the pointer over or beside a left edge I can change left edge.
The audio material is time compressed up to the preceding flex marker when I move the left marker to the right.
If I place the pointer over or beside a right edge and move to the left all region is compressed.
It looks like I cant create the marker at the beginning edge of the region  on the right.
In Logic Pro 9 it works great. Is it bug LPX? Or should I change some preferences?
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi,
First try to find out if you already have that field available in your view configuration. If yes, then you just need to add that to visible/displayed fields. Other wise you'd have to extend the context nodes using AET/EEWB. After you add the fields using configuration you can move them where ever you want to place them. I believe for first name/last name F4 comes by default.

This is probably one of the files that is required by the template you are using.
These files are inside the iWeb app. Control click the iWeb app icon and select "Show package contents".
You need to dig down through the folders and files to find what you want...
    Contents/Resources/da.lproj/Templates/
If the file is missing you would need to re install the iWeb app...

  • Unable to print AP Check with MICR on AIX. The PDF output displays the MICR

I have peculiar situation here and I would really appreciate any help I can get.
    The issue:
The requirement here is to print an AP Check with the MICR. Using XML I have defined a template and when I preview the output in PDF, the MICR string displays fine. The same template also works fine from within Oracle Applications.
However, when I specify a printer and set the number of copies to 1, nothing is printed.
The issue that our DBA noticed was that the PDF to PS converter is dropping the MICR string and as a result nothing is getting printed. The client uses GhostScript for PDF2PS conversion and they have not been able to resolve this issue.
Has anyone encountered a similar issue? If so, what can be done to resolve this issue.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Srini

I think that means tool is either not installed or not in path:-
"The Xpdf language support packages include CMap files, text encodings, and various other configuration information necessary or useful for specific character sets. (They do not include any fonts.) Any or all of these can be installed by simply unpacking the tar file and adding a few lines to your xpdfrc configuration file (see the README file inside each package for details).
have you seen what needs to be changed in xpdfrc configuration file?
