Dust under back camera window. Silent support.

Hello,
After a few weeks of using Z3 compact I noticed that the back cover is not well attached and there's some dust under the back camera window.
I sent the device to the service, and they say this is not covered by the warranty and I have to pay 225 €:
Electrical repair  133.20 EUR
Handling fee  51.60 EUR
Shipping  22.34 EUR
Mechanical repair  18.00 EUR
Total cost  225.14 EUR
I've already sent 3 messages asking for the clarifications with no response and also contacted via the chat service and the guy just terminated the session after saying "the phone is in the service and I cannot tell anything else".
What do you think I can do now? I'm going to contact all possible consumer support organizations and use some personal relations to contact the higher level of the service team.

  • Dust under the camera glass

I have xperia z3 dual and my phone has dust under the camera glass!!

Then i dont understand how could any dust go under the lens. Can you post a picture or something of the lens. If the device is waterproof and there is dust under the lens,  am i stupid to thing you putted the device into sand with opened covers?  There is no way of any dust coming into the lens if the device is waterproof and all covers are closed.

  • Dust inside back camera lens

Just noticed two specs of dust inside my wife's iPhone 4, she bought it in July 2010.
The cut the long story short, photo's from that phone always looked "soft" (like the lens was dirty) when compared to the photos from my iPhone 4.
Yesterday, however, I had to take some indoors pictures with my wife's phone as mine was out of available storage. Most of the photos and videos looked rubbish: huge halos around light sources, grain, weird colours, very soft (inferior even compared to a friend's 3GS). So I knew something was wrong, and then I noticed two specs of dust inside the camera lens, right in the middle. The phone is otherwise immaculate apart from a tiny screen scratch. I guess the dust was there from day 1, as photos never looked right.
Is this supposed to happen over time? Is the lens unit sealed? Is Apple likely to fix it under warranty (the phone is 8 months old)?
    Cheers,
    GB

The phone comes with a one-year warranty. Make an appointment at an Apple store. If your phone is deemed defective, it will be replaced on the spot.

  • Dust under iPhone 5 camera lense, no warranty

My iPhone 5 has recently acquired some dust under the camera lense, which shows up in pictures. My applecare has run out, have I got any chance of getting any help from apple? I've read some threads saying they got it cleaned out at the apple store, is it possible they'd do this for me, even though I'm out of warranty?
    Thanks

Never take any photo with my phone?!!
Or spend hundreds of dollars to fix the camera? (I probably could buy a new phone with that much money!!)
I found the dust after my warranty expired, and I was told apple won't help me to fix it.
I never had any problem with my iphone4, which is a great product by Jobs. The iphone5 is very disappointing. You have to use a case to protect it from scratches. Many people found dust inside their cameras, luckily some found that problem during their warranty. I couldn't believe apple would deliver a product with so many problems to us, at least Jobs wouldn't.
During that one year period, I will assume the dust accumulated while being in your pocket.
I had a iphone since the 3GS and now a 5S and had a few dust in my camera lenses, but nothing that would impede me from taking good quality pictures.

  • Dust in 5s camera - No Exchange

I recently went back to an Apple store (Short Hills, NJ) to exchange my 5s because it had dust under the glass in front of the camera.  After being told by an employee who helped me during my appointment that they would swap my phone -- the dust can be seen with the naked eye -- (and that the AT&T 32gb 5s was in stock) another employee came to "investigate" the matter.  He clearly saw the dust under the glass of the camera but turned the camera on and pointed it at a heavily stocked wall.  He "concluded" that the camera functioned well.  He said they would not exchange it but since it was within 30 days of receiving it I could return it and "buy" a new one but in the middle of this process I was told that all stock, except the space gray, was out.  What's my next step? When did Apple stop swapping warrantied phones with dust under the camera?

Problem solved.  Another Apple store (Rockaway, NJ) replaced the phone, no questions asked.

  • Satellite U920T - front/back cam + touch screen + win button doesn't work

I have the issue that the touch screen + front camera + back camera + windows button on the screen are not working.
I tried installing the display/graphics drivers but that did not helped.
I bought this laptop from Saudi Arabia and it is still under warranty but I am out of country so i cant claim the warranty as well.
someone please sort out this issue and tell me the solution or tell me what i should do?
    Help will be really appreciated.
    some details about my laptop:
    Toshiba Satellite U920T-B919.
    windows 8.1 update 64 bit.
    Thanks,

Since you mentioned different issues with your notebook, I think that in this case its advisable to recover the notebook back to factory settings just to check if all these problems are related to system problem.
Regarding the webcam: the Windows 8 /8.1 already contains the webcam drivers and therefore additional webcam driver installation isnt possible. Additional webcam driver does not exist simply.
From my point of few the whole description smells a little bit like a hardware problem of the upper slide part where the touchscreen is part of.
The win button as well as the both cams are located there and probably there is some lose connection between the two parts (touchscreen and keyboard)
Anyway, as I said above, its advisable to recover the notebook to factory settings just to ensure that the system isnt the troublemaker.
In case of hardware problems, you would need to get in contact with service available in your country.

  • Dust under front facing camera Z10

Hello, i was wondering if anyone has had this problem. I got my phone 2 days ago and just now i noticed a lot of dust under the front facing camera. I keep it in my pocket but i don't think they are that dirty because it has never happened to me with any other phone. Has anyone had this problem?

Sure, your mobile provider if that's where you purchased it.
Having it for two days, dust in it, that's a warranty issue. Replace it.

  • If I have my damaged iPod Touch gen 5 (no back camera) replaced under the repair program, will the replacement have a camera?

If I have my damaged iPod Touch 16gb gen 5 (no back camera) replaced under the repair program, will the replacement 16gb have a camera?

No. Replacements are always the same as what is being replaced. No back camera now means no back camera after replacement.

  • Dust under camera lense cover

Has any one else noticed this? I have one or two specks of dust under the glass/plastic. Not happy!

Also, note that dust under the lens may not show up in images because it will be out of focus, but it will reduce the sensitivity of the camera.

  • Dust Under IPhone5 Lens

I have an iPhone 5 that is out of the warranty period (purchased Sept. 2011).  I recently discovered some debris on the underside of the lens that is showing up as a black blob on all pictures I take.  I have read several posts about similar issues that have been resolved by returning the phone to an Apple Store with no questions asked.  In some instances, I have heard these are always addressed as no dust should be able to penetrate the lens unless it happened during manufacturing.
I should also mention the phone had an unfortunate meeting with some concrete that caused the glass at the top of the back of the phone to shatter.  The lens was not impacted and the debris did not show up until 5 months after the incident.
Is there a way I would be able to get the issue addressed if my phone is out of the 1-year warranty period?  It's not the end of the world if its not something they will support but just thought I would ask if the opportunity even exists.
    Thanks in advance.

Also, note that dust under the lens may not show up in images because it will be out of focus, but it will reduce the sensitivity of the camera.

Since your phone is still under warranty, contact Apple or your carrier and have it serviced.
How do I obtain service for my iPhone?
The iPhone support site has troubleshooting articles to help you solve your iPhone issue on your own. If you have reviewed those articles and still need service for your iPhone, you can contact your carrieror Apple. Note: There may be a fee for diagnostic service. Please do not send any accessories with your iPhone because they will not be returned to you.
How long will my iPhone service take?
For details regarding how long your iPhone service will take, please contact your carrier.
Will the data on my iPhone be preserved?
No, during the service process all data on your iPhone will be erased. Before obtaining service, it is important to back up your data using iCloud or iTunes. Apple is not responsible for the loss of information while servicing your iPhone and does not offer any data transfer service. During service, Apple may exchange your iPhone with an iPhone that is new or equivalent to new in performance and reliability.
Following service, your iPhone may have a newer operating system (iOS) version and you will need to restore your data using the method used to back it up (iCloud or iTunes). As a result, you may also need to update your App Store applications to ensure compatibility with the newer iOS. If you experience a problem with an application purchased from the App Store, check to see if an update is available or contact the application vendor directly.

  • Dust under screen of E71. Do Nokia care points eve...

Ok people bit of a moan really, which I need to get off my chest. I have taken 2 handsets to a Nokia care point and both times I have just walked out p****d off. This time I had an E71. It has a load of dust under the screen in the top left corner and also dust on the camera lens. When you activate the camera there is a black smudge in the top left of the picture. To be honest I noticed the dust after the first month but managed to ignore it. It has now got very bad and realising dust was on the camera lens was the last straw. The phone is under a year old by 3 months. It is in very good condition as I look after my phones, screen protectors etc and has the latest firmware on, version 400.
Now I emailed Nokia asking the best cause of action. I got this response:
"Thank you for contacting Nokia Care.
Sorry to hear that your E71 has a dust inside the screen. As much as we want to help you have a new replacement unit, we are not authorised to do so. We strongly suggest you to send your device on our respected Nokia Care Points. Please be advised that all assessments and repair services on our products are carried out at the Nokia Care Points. A qualified technician will assess your handset and repair it.  The phone will be covered under warranty provided you have your original proof of purchase and all standard warranty conditions are met."
Note the last bit as it will be important. I took the phone today and the bloke told me there would be a £45-50 charge to have the phone cleaned, which to be honest I really don't want as I'm guessing the same will happen again a month later. I've read people having exactly the same issue on this forum. Plus there is no way I'm paying that amount of money. Didn't even ask for proof of purchase by the way.
I then took it to my mobile provider shop where it has now been sent away for free. I thought I may as well. They told me they may replace the handset, which to be honest I hope they do.
Has anyone had this level of 'help' through Nokia care points? I just think it's disgusting. What's the point of these '2 year' warranties that Nokia offer with their phones when all the Nokia care points want is money from you!!
Any way rant over. I just hope my phone doesn't come back in worse condition than what I sent it off in, since there was not a scratch on it, just a lot of dust :-/
    Ben

send it to a nokia care centre dont attempt yourself it will void warranty if this shop is an official nokia store they will send it an official nokia centre
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

  • Nokia N97 cover defect: Scratched the back camera ...

    Hello everyone,
Last weekend, as I opened the back camera lens cover, I saw one straight line scratch
I was cursing myself, even though I keep my phone in a pouch. But today as I was scrolling through HOFO, I came accross a thread where people we complaining about similiar issues.
I think this is a defective design problem on N97s, if there are some dust particles under the screen then they will scratch the screen when you slide the cover to open or close it.
Will nokia take resposiblility to fix these screens, I am really **bleep** off. I have been a Nokia fan from last 7 years.
This is what we get after spending $650 USD to buy a hyped flagship device.
Could anyone tell me who to complain and how get it fixed.

well aftear reading the hofo i just smacked a screen protector in the lens, i got it from the "home button" of some iphone's screen protectors I had. as soon as I slided the cover close/open the lens (or the screen protector) got scratched so Im 100% sure that the sliding cover will scratch the lens. Not that fast, since the screen protector adds some bulk on the surface. So if you are going to do this make sure that the screen protector doesnt invade the flash zone or you will get some flashes over the picture and also make sure that it doesnt get under the lens frame I think the cover has a slider under the frame.
So finally I feel better, and the picture quality doesnt change anything even when using the flash!

  • Black spot on back camera

hello everyone, I just bought my friend's iPhone 4 which is replacement from the Authorize seller in Indonesia. So i can't check my warranty tey mentioned "Our records indicate that this product has been replaced" , then i just realized that there's black spot on my back camera, what should i do? can i claim that to Apple?

I have the same issue - perhaps not exact but extremely similar.  In photo mode, there is a small purplish speck, which I initially thought as dust or something, and of course it ends of in photos taken.  However, this speck is not present in video mode, meaning there is no dust, but some sort of artifact on the photo processor or something.  Either way, itsa product defect - I plan on seeing if Apple will support this and replace thephone.....
