Dust Under Screen (For the third time)

Hi Folks,
I'm on my third iPad as of today (bought new mid June), and all have had some kind of foreign object under the glass including this latest replacement. Now, am I being fussy or what? Should I expect my £699 iPad to be free of dust where I can't clean? The Apple service diagnosis has always been 'issue detected' so it can't be me surely. I can't fault the service from Apple, but having explicitly stressed the point on the last call and being told it would be forwarded on to the service department and then receiving a replacement with the same problem has got me seeing red, even more so after being on hold for 25mins tonight, getting half way through a conversation with an Apple rep and getting cutoff. Would I be better off heading to an Apple store? I'm not particularly close to one which is why I took the UPS route. Anyone with experience of taking one back to an Apple store (London) and getting a replacement? I like the iPad, but I'm not entirely sure I want to keep the thing now after the time and money wasted trying to get what I paid for.

Really bad luck. These are manufactured in a clean room, so maybe you're getting a series of products from a run where one of the workers didn't clean up properly. You are beginning to exceed the probabilities that are random. I think a fourth time they're going to suspect you.

Ipad mini blue screen for the third time. Bought in February 2014.
What I restored the first time but the problem persists. I want to know if it is a hardware problem or software?
    Thank you.

Could be either. I'd make an appointment at your local apple store and have them check it out. It shouldn't be blue screening.

  • No video, high fan noise on startup, for the THIRD TIME

For the third time in slightly less than three years, I have encountered the same crippling problem with my iBook G4 (1 GHz, June 2004 vintage). In essence, the screen will abruptly go black while in use (not screensaver) and no amount of keyboard/mouse activity will reactivate the display. If I power off by holding down the power button then restart, the screen stays black and the fans come on full speed.
Despite a bit of confusion on the details, this sounds like the problem described on the webpages below. In essence the Danish government has issued a finding that there is a design flaw which allows excessive logic board flexing, which in turn causes logic board failure.
This is, as I said above, the third time I have encountered this failure in less than three years. Worse, they seem to be coming closer together. The first was after about 1.5 years, the second 9 months later, and now seven months after the second repair. Since I didn't get Apple Care, paying for a third repair out of pocket would bring my repair bill up to the cost of a new iBook.
I do not abuse my iBook, and since the second repair I have been very careful with my iBook. Does anyone have any suggestions on getting Apple to acknowlege the problem or who I can appeal to? Apple's website doesn't seem to offer any e-mail tech support options and I'd rather not sit on hold for an age (again) if it can be avoided. While I don't want to abandon my iBook or Apple, I may be forced to if I can't rely on the hardware.
    Thanks

Well it doesn't sound like the Danish power problem since it will start up.
The ATI Mobility Radeon 9200 4x AGP graphics processor chips in these iBooks have been problematic. Usually it's the reball problem and it can be reballed for ~ $78. I've done 4 this year and they work just great. A cheap way to get nice laptops. If they respond to the "shim fix" then reballing will work.
A more troubling problem is with the 9200 chip itself. My reballer says that this chip is in itself the cause of some of these problems. He knows it since it's also used in IBMs, Compaqs and many other laptops and he's seen a lot of failures. My only failed reball was a 9200. I have a line on a replacement board or finding the chip in a broken PC.

  • 4G OUT AGAIN FOR THE THIRD TIME

HAPPENED AGAIN AT WORK! I am down to 1x this morning for the third time! I am about to return this thunderbolt.

Listen if the 4G doesn't work when it should, there are several things you can do to "reset" it. I work at a Verizon premium retail store in Englewood and I've come across a lot of people who had similar problems.
-Complete reboot by holding power button.
-Turn off mobile network and back on.
-Switch to 3G only (CDMA Auto PRL only), then back to 4G again. This will reconnect to 4G from scratch and usually fixes up any connectivity issue I have.
-Downloading the current update might help as there is a new update available.
-It could just be that the location you are in has poor 4G connectivity. It's proven now that the Thunderbolt is capable of the fastest speed in downloading than any other mobile carriers with 4G network. It doesn't matter if T-Mobile has the "largest," when they are producing around 15-25mb while Verizon's go over 30 easily. I max out in the speedtest, which is a lot better than my own computer (a step below T1).
The phone is capable of it. If it can't connect where you work, then it's just best to accept that you won't really receive great 4G until Verizon has completely upgraded nationwide 4G.
You can't blame Verizon when the simple fact is that you won't get 4G service in many locations. At least not yet. If you DO get perfect 4G connection but you're not getting it anymore, then a reboot will work perfectly fine. If not, then it's a problem with the 4G SIM card. Call the customer service number that was posted. It'll help to talk to a Verizon customer service rep. I mean, in terms of what the reps are capable of, they can only troubleshoot/do things that they are allowed to; but guaranteed they have solutions for this. Chances are, they will tell you the same things I've told you in the list above but it's worth a shot isn't it?

  • Order denied for the third time

    Hello my dear experts,
I tried yesterday to order a creative cloud membership for students for the third time and for the third time I didn't recieve any confirmation neither an error because of my credit card. I already was in a chat with a support employee, he told me I should call my bank which I did, they assured me that there is no problem with my visa card.
What drives me crazy is, that there is no hint or clue that the credit card is rejected, it only tells me over and over again that I'll recieve an e-mail within the next working day, but nothing happens. I don't get the issue. So please help me.
My last order took place on 9th June 2013 at noon and my AdobeID is XXX

Note that you can not log into iCloud.com through the browser on an iOS device, only from a computer. If you want to use the iWork apps on your iOS device, you will need to purchase the apps from the app store if you don't qualify to get them for free.

  • USB for the third time

When I plug in my iPod to my PC it says USB device malfunctioned and not recognised.
It also does that for my camera and my sons other mp3 player.
When I look in device manager it shows unknown device. I can delete the device but when I try plugging in the iPod again it says found new device but then it reverts to the malfunctioned message.
It's something to do with my PC.
In device manager it says there are no drivers for that device?
The iPod is playing fine - I have reloaded boy iPod and iTunes software.
I can use my USB printer and the internet modem and a dongle in any of the USB ports OK.
    What is going on?
    Any ideas?

OK so it sounds like you have a problem with your Windows machine and not your iPod or iTunes specifically. So perhaps you should post your question to a PC forum somewhere, not here where the discussion is about iPods. You have already stated your iPod works fine and the problem is the PC and its port or your operating system.
Posting for a third time is not going to get you any additional help since your problem appears to be outside the scope of these groups and posting a third time will instead just get replies like this one telling you that you need to go find a PC, Windows, USB, whatever forum somewhere else for help.
But for kicks, did you even try any of the suggestions in this article...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61711
that was suggested to you by another poster on one of your other two threads? If so, what happened?

But when I started the firefox for the next time, foxdie 4 theme is gone. Firefox reset to its previous theme. Its happening whenever I change to new themes. Every time. With every themes.

  • My laptop y510p has an issue for the third time and i need a replacement

my y510p laptop got an issue for three times and i need a replacement
i bought it in april/2014 and more than 2 and half months wasted for maintenance.
    first time:
after few weeks i got problem with screen colors and i sent the laptop and the problem was in the motherboard and they replaced it.
    second time:
i got it from maintenance center with 2 issues:
    1- camera wasn't working
2- suddenlly  freeze from time to time , sometime a blue screen appear after ,  i need to turnoff laptop from the power button to work again and it takes so long to open after that.
    i sent the laptop again.
note: maintenance center claims that there wasn't any issue and even the camera that they told me that they fixed it they didn't wirte it in report. that's what i figured out when i talked with lenovo customer services
    third time:
suddenly freeze from time to time again when i tried to enter bios immediatly after freeze happen i found that
    harddisk wasn't  appearing.
so i sent it again and i asked for replacement
maintenance replied that it's a motherboard and hardisk issues.
stayed there for 45 days and i called them for like 7 times to know what is the reply on my request and every time they ask me to wait more.
today i called them and they told me that the request of replacement is refused ...!
and they told me to post a message here if i insist on replacement.
    laptop serial no:xxxxxxxxx

It´s crazy how many people have the same kind of problems with this computer.. and what´s even worse is that it seems that the only option is to send it to Lenovo for a motherboard replacement. I have the same problem (mainboard dead) but unluckily for me, my y510p is out of warranty (I only used it for like 4-5 months then it was stored while I was away). Everyday I get on the internet to look for a motherboard replacement myself but I just can´t find any.. Why is that?
Also, this is a "new" computer, if I´m not wrong it was released around the end of 2013. How is it that they already discontinued it? Do they usually discontinue their products that fast? Or is it perhaps all these Y510P computers had problems from production? How can someone spend over a thousand dollars, use the computer for a few months (normal use, not even gaming..) and one day is dead and the motherboard needs replacement?? Why nobody really complains about this? I really don´t know what to do as that were all my money. I really just want to get rid of this crap and never ever buy Lenovo again and never ever recommend it to anyone. I don´t even feel secure spending the money on a motherboard replacement because it seems to me that the problem will come back. Because as I said this seems to be a problem in their production of this particular model. Again, over a thousand dollars computer and its quality is worst than the cheapest ones.. shame on Lenovo.

  • IPod...broken (for the third time)

ok, so yea this is really really really starting to make me go crazy. To the point where i just want to smash my iPod with a bat. I have the 60GB iPod Photo and its having problems. I had already sent it in TWICE before for other problems that ive been having. Now its a completely new problem (somewhat similar to the first problem i had with it). I was listening to the iPod while driving my car and all of a sudden the thing freezes. like it still showed the "Now Playing" screen, but it wouldnt play the music and none of the buttons were working. Then i tried connecting it back to my comp, and that seemed to work because it put it in the "Do Not Disconnect" screen, but then it wouldn't get off that screen. Now the stupid thing has turned off and i can't do anything with it. I am literally sick of this thing...is there ANYTHING i can do in order to get any kind of refund or something...because i am literally just tired of this thing breaking at the wrong times (once before when i went cross country and now while i was in a 3 hour car drive). This thing has proven to be way less then worth the money...I got this thing back in July and have already had it replaced twice...i would really hate to get it replaced a third time, i would rather just get my money back or something. Any help with this situation would be a great help. Thanks.
PS- i would have been MUCH more colorful with my choice of words, but since we can't use an obscenities here I really can't express the full extent of my anger.

Hey, if I can get the hard drive to stop skipping, then I would do that in a second. As for reseting it, I have done that a dozen times already. The computer dosen't even recognize it, nor does it even do anything. I hooked it up and it came up like it was charging and got stuck on the charging screen like when it goes idle.
I am just going to go to try and get a new one. Hopefully I will be able to get it for nothing since I was screwed out of this one.

  • CD#3: A Computer Dinosaur for the third time

Not sure under which category to post this but as the recent 10.6.8 update debacle featured heavily I shall use the Snow Leopard forum. It is part rant and part informational on the debatable merits of continual updating of the system OS.
I use three computers, a 2002 Titanium Powerbook, a 2006 CoreDuo iMac and a 2010 17" MacBook Pro. Each one of them is a dinosaur that has reached the limit of its evolution.
The TiBook DVI became a dinosaur at OS 10.4.11.
It was the very last powerbook with bootable OS9 capability and I needed to retain certain OS9 only applications. After that model OS9 was available only through Classic. The installed OS X system is 10.4.11 and it will go no further. Classic is not supported with 10.5 Leopard so the TiBook reached its evolutionary limit ages ago.
The iMac Core Duo is stuck at OS 10.5.8.
Initially the problem with the iMac was with Final Cut Pro that became unable to display video correctly - even files that it had itself created. QuickTime and iMovie had no problem displaying the self same video files correctly. Having reinstalled absolutely everything, but this time using OS 10.6, I found several things that would not longer work. One, for example, was that 10.6 would not permit the Keyspan USB print server to be used on the local wireless network meaning every printer has to be physically connected with a USB cable to a computer. That is impractical with several computers sperad around the office/house. So it had to go back to 10.5 Leopard and everything works properly. The iMac now has nowhere else to evolve. It has reached its limit.
The less than one year old 2010 17" MacBook Pro became a dinosaur this week at OS 10.6.7
The 10.6.8 update was completely disastrous and totally disabled the computer, whether with Software Update or by downloading the Combo update. Ultimately, I have discovered it was not the fault of the update itself, it was something to do with something in the system. What, I have no idea because after manually reinstalling absolutely everything that was on there before, but with the OS updated to 10.6.8 at the beginning of the installation process, it worked fine. ???
However, the Macbook Pro has been returned to OS 10.6.7. and that is where it will stay. As OS 10.6.8 is essentially just preparation for the forthcoming global trainwreck that will be the Download Only OS 10.7 Upgrade, I have no use for OS 10.6.8 and therefore, as I will certainly be going nowhere near Lion, the less than a year old Macbook Pro has already reached the limit of its evolution.
Because of the Keyspan USB Print Server problem and the complete impracticality of having to physically connect a USB cable it has NO print capability at all. I had hoped to use the Lexmark X7550 All-In-One, which has built-in wireless capability, but the Lexmark software does not like Snow Leopard and causes a massive increase in the computer shutdown time from approximately two seconds to around 50 seconds !! The Lexmark works fine with Leopard 10.5 and does not cause any slowdowns but I cannot apply this to the MacBook Pro because Apple has 'nobbled' it to work with a minimum of 10.6.
So there you have it. Three Dinosaurs.
The newest of which ably illustrating the somewhat ridiculous nature of the headlong technology rush as peripherals as mundane as print er drivers fail to keep up with the incessant OS 'advances'.

Not in the least ... and this is a discussion forum. That means resolutions to problems or situations are as valid a subject matter as unresolved issues.
I wish to have access to certain OS9 apps. Therefore the TiBook is 'stuck' at 10.4
The Keyspan print server driver has not been updated for five years and is not likely to be. Therefore, if I wish to have convenient wireless access to ALL printers and scanners without USB hubs and cables etc, the iMac is 'stuck' at 10.5
I have no wish to get involved in a 'Download Only' OS, it will be a maintenance headache with no physical DVD. A problem such as the 10.6.8 update mess would entail reloading with 10.6 from the original disc and then another download of 10.7 to update it to Lion. Nope. Don't want it. I want a physical DVD. Therefore the MBP is 'stuck' at 10.6
Three computers - all dinosaurs. The most recent of which is less than a year old.

  • Hard Drive DEAD for the THIRD TIME.... New Computer??

I've had this Toshiba 1 1/2 years. During that time, the hard drive has been replaced twice and is now having to be replaced a third time.
That's not all the problems it is having! It has always overheated and had to be shut down. It runs very very slow and when I try to get on the internet, I get error messages. I've gotten hundreds of error messages daily!! Tech support keeps you on the phone for hours on end, with NO answers.
Tech support also tells you one thing but does nothing!
I'm NOW being FORCED to rent a computer since my piece of junk has been down ONCE AGAIN for almost a week. The latest is that Toshiba told me they are sending me a box so that I can send the computer in BUT guess what?? No box. No answers when I call them back, they just put me on hold for another 2 hours, 3 hours, don't know!! I'm STILL on hold!!!
WARNING!! Don't buy a Toshiba! I know that I won't EVER make that mistake AGAIN!!!

I have had the same issue and after today they will not fix my comp and it is the hard drive tried to tell me it was something else and it is not so they wont honor warranty so I just went and bought a new comp i have no choice I am a full online student and already missed days and all my work. I would never buy one again and my comp only 2 weeks old brand new had first hard drive burn up it not even a year old and mother board shot and hard drive gone again and they will not fix it. Good luck.

i hope u got it this time
In that screen, which you accessed from the F9 key, you can choose a one time boot from any of the hard disks listed that are bootable.
If you want to choose the default boot drive you will have to do it from the boot options screen in the BIOS. You can access the BIOS by selecting the F10 key.
If the OCZ Vertex2 drive in the list is has enough capacity, it should be the boot disk for multiple operating systems. Legacy SATA spinner hard drives are  ridiculously slow in comparison.
Don't expect an HP to be setup like a Dell notebook or desktop.  There will be basic similarities, but that is where the difference stops. HP BIOS ROM files are customized by HP.
Are you aware they are two seperate  and competing companies?  HP is the largest PC and notebook manufacturer in the world?
