My Ipad 3 is the same, it must be a design fault cuz I dropped a pound coin on my ipad screen and it shattered and every other week there's a new dent or scratch, though I wouldn't say I'm overly rough with it. I use it a lot, like most do, so accidents will happen and Apple hav to allow for that. I deffently wouldn't say that they are worth the money for the amount of trouble they cause, they r great devices, just far too delicate and expensive!

  • Compared to the ipad 2 how big is the ipad minis screen?

compared to the ipad 2 how big is the ipad minis screen?

It is absolutely not half the size. It's the same resolution as the iPad 2 with a screen size of 7.9 inches across the diagonal versus the 9.7 inches of the bigger iPad.

  • What is the best way to clean the iPad mini screen?

What is the best way, recommended by Apple to clean the Ipad Mini screen (ie: type of paper or cloth and what solution) ?

It's a damp soft cloth. Like a microfiber cloth you'd see for eyeglass cleaning. Damp, not wet, and just water, no chemicals.
Unless your screen is really grungy, simply wiping away the fingerprints should help.

  • Are there any screen protectors that feel as smooth/slippery as the iPad Mini screen?

I'm looking for a screen protector that feels as smooth/slippery as the normal iPad Mini screen. The screen feels really nice, especially for games, I'd like to keep it as is but I'm afraid of getting it scratched. This is my first Apple device so I apologize if this has been asked before. Thanks!

I was considering the same thing when I bought my iPad Air. I really enjoy using the iPad with no cover/case at all. The way Apple designed it. The cool aluminum and smooth glass. I understand you on those points. The same can be said for the iPhone. I have both a case and screen protector on my iPhone. I can remove the case, not the screen protector. Those aren't made to install and remove repeatedly.
I'd prefer not to use a screen protector because of how it blurs the screen but also because it affects the "feel" of the screen. Gone is the silky smooth feeling of the glass. I got a scratch on an iPhone screen once and use a screen protector now. I carry the iPhone with me 24/7 so it needs more protection.
My iPad Air is a different story. I also bought it at BestBuy and use it for iBooks quite a bit too! I use the new iPad Air SmartCase to protect it but haven't installed a screen protector. I haven't installed one because the screen is only vulnerable while I'm using it and is protected by the case while I carry it. I like how the display looks and feels without the screen protector on.
The good news is, if you decide to install a screen protector, you can easily remove it if you change your mind. I hope this helps...

  • IOS 7 problems of sensitivity on the Ipad Mini screen

After updating to ios 7 my ipad mini lost some sensitivity on the screen. now I have to press the screen harder and sometimes several times to respond the screen.
has anyone had this situation after updating to ios 7?

I'm having the same problem and neither rebooting or resetting settings have changed the problem. Mine is specially in the corners. Very frustrating when I'm playing games or while reading a book in iBooks or Kindle and I want to go the library or the store I can't get it to work. So, I have to keep turning the iPad Mini around until I find a corner that works...

  • Why is the iPad mini screen not very sensitive to touch?

There are times when the screen is not sensitive to touch. This is always observed when in Netflix mode, i.e. When trying to pause the move, re-start to continue or when exiting the movie. Is this a common occurrence? This also occurs at times during the internet mode when the backup arrow key is selected to get back to the previous page. Any answers to this issue will be appreciated. I believe this IPad mini is of the 2nd generation.

That's a fair point but my 4S running the last iOS 5 update loads the thousands of apps I have purchased over the past 4 years in a few seconds on a wi-fi connection. Whereas the mini iPad does not and if it starts showing sings of doing it, it simply crashes back to the home screen. The iPad works flawlessly in all other contexts and when viewing previously purchased music and video, it loads that just fine.
While these forums are exactly the place where you see that "very small minority" experiencing this issue, it is quite an aggravating hiccup for a brand new device running a somewhat maligned operating system. It is definitely not a hardware issue at all, which is comforting, but it could very well be the operating system and it could also be an Apple server problem, the latter would be great. The end result is that Apple cannot help me after I detailed the issue and escalated it.

  • Dirt under the ipad screen

    Hi,
I realizes there's a bit of dust under the ipad screen. did anyone encounter that before? can it be send to the service center to check? Thanks

I'd take it back. If it is new they should give you a new one. Otherwise, they should give you a serviced one. In either event, it goes without saying, make rue you back it up first.

  • Dust speckles under the LCD monitor screen

    Hi,
I have a Canon Rebel T3i and have had it for a year and a half.I love it. However, lately I've noticed several speckles of dust under the LCD monitor screen. it's not affecting my pictures but is kind of distracting when i'm looking at the pictures on the monitor. Anyone else familiar with this problem or know what I can do about this?
    Mary

"... picture and is only on the display ..."
Boy you have throughly confused this ol'boy.  What exactly is the dislay?  Are you talking in the view finder?  Are you talking the LCD screen on the back of the camera?
It is easy to get dust in the view finder but, I think, impossibile to get dust under the LCD display.
If you are talking the view finder, get a Rocket Blower.  The rest are junk.

  • Did any buy a 4th generation iPad with speck(s) of dust under the screen?

Purchased my first iPad at a local apple store on launch day, noticed a speck of dust under the screen. Had it exchanged and then found another speck of dust under the screen once again. Went back and wanted another exchange, apple store employees were nice enough to allow me to open two additional iPad. I did a thorough check of each and noticed dust under the screen on both. Wasn't allowed to open anymore iPads so, I was given the option to exchange mine or return it. I decided to keep mine as there was only one speck of dust under the screen. Has this happened to anyone so far?

I wanted to upgrade to the iPad 4th generation as well.  I have been through four (4) of them.  ALL FOUR (4) had readily visible dust under the glass.  Three were from the Apple store here in Santa Barbara, and one was from the Apple store in Santa Monica.....so not all from the exact same shipment, although possible all came from the same batch at the factory.
There is fine white dust all offer the interior packaging materials when you open these up....which is not a problem....but then there is always a speck or two of white dust UNDER the glass.  This is totally unacceptable for a high-end product that costs $700+ from accompany that goes on and on about how exceptionally high their quality control standards are.
The Apple store staff have been fantastic to deal with throughout this.  It is proof Apple stands behind their products and claims of high quality.  However, the fact that four out of four brand new iPads had the same defect (immediately seen by two techs at the Apple Store in every case) indicates the standards are sliding...at least at the factory.
The fact that I received four out of four iPads with this defect doesn't mean I am unlucky....it likely indicates that thousands of these shipped to North America...or at least California....have this defect.  I just noticed it.
And anyone who says "that's just how all iPads are" is wrong.  I am typing this post on my iPad Generation 3 that came out of the box with no dust under the glass.
This is a major quality control issue with the new iPad 4 and Apple needs to address it.

  • New iPad..dust under the glass screen ?????

After buying the new iPad 32GB 4G from your branch here in Saudi Arabia, I was shocked to discover some dust under the glass screen. When I returned to the showroom, they refused to replace it and claimed that it is normal for all iPad products to leak in dust and is not a damage in the unit. I believe it is not acceptable at all for a SAR 3000+ devise to allow dust to come into its internal chipsets (with all the damage this might cause). I am sending this as a complaint against the local reseller with request of immediate replacement.
    Please advise

OK. Apple is not reading any of these posts for hardware issues. Nobody here works for Apple. We are other users just like you.
I am advising you to contact Apple - however you can - whereever you live - there is nothing anyone here can do to help you.

  • Can I get my iPad cleaned from dust under the screen at the Apple Store?

I have an iPad that I have purchased early last year. My warranty on the iPad is up and I have realized there is dust under the screen. There is a newly built Apple Store at a mall in my city. I am wondering if I could visit the store and request a technician to open my iPad and clean the screen, if it's possible they can do that. If I can, will there be a fee? If not, what other things can I do?

No, they will not be able to clean it at the store. They will likely only be able to offer a replacement at a substantial cost (if that). Based on what you have described, unless you are far wealthier than me, you get to live with it.

  • Dust under New iPad Screen...Again...

I just had an iPad (2012) replaced because there was dust under the screen. My replacement has a very small speck of dust under the screen that is smaller than the original and it really bothers me also. Will the Apple Store be mad that I want to get this one replaced as well and not replace it because they already replaced one bad iPad for me already?
Thank you so much! (If you reply)

I went through 3 iPhone 4's last year when I had a water damage replacement for the first one, and the guys in the genius bar where just as helpful every time I went back with a new issue. The amount of replacements should not matter at all, sounds like you've been very unlucky, nothing else. I do as above though, check it out Instore.
One suggestion I would make on getting your replacement is ensure they either give you a replacement box, or the sticker to put on your original box or you will be given grief for having an iPad not matching the box if you ever come to sell it.

  • My ipad mini screen is broken and i still have the service coverage. Will they fix it for me ?

My ipad mini screen is broken. I bought it in Orlando in Febuary and when i last checked my status, my service coverage is still active but my technical support is not does it mean if i bring it in december they will be able to fix the screen for me or will i have to ay for the fix ?

Accidental damage is not covered by the warranty unless you have Apple Care+ which allows for two incidents ofa ccidental damage and there is a $49 copay for each incident. You do not have Apple Care+ so this would not be covered for you.
If you are saying that the screen broke on its own, you would have to convince Apple that it happened that way.
Apple offers an out of warranty iPad replacement with a refurbished device and the cost starts at $249.00 in the U.S. for an iPad 1. Apple does not repair iPads at this time, they offer these replacement devices. You can read more about it here.
