DV 4t heating problems

My Dv 4t has been heating and shutting down when I run video intensive processes. THe hard disk and the Video card (Nvidia geforce 9200M) literally sets the system on fire when I run my games or even HD videos for long. Noisy fan which is of no help. HP service is even worse as they have taken no responsibility even after they knew that the problems existed(its all over on discussion boards and reviews). They just pushed the problem till the warranty expired. Even they premium Envy laptops have the same problem. would advice everybody to reconsider buying an HP even if they are saving more than 300 bucks for an equivalent product by a different brand). Eventually you ll end up spending much more.
I have the top end processor, ram and Video card which they offered when I bought the laptop(dv4t), but the system heats up so much that the systems stops responding or drastically slows down processes due to the working temp. I am thinking of investing on a new laptop in just a year as I can get no work done on this machine. I would strictly advice people against buying this product or any of HP product without researching the heating Issues.
I had to send my PC thrice in the past year to get the heat issue fixed. All they do is change the heat sink and send it back in another month its back to as bad as it was. THe last time I sent my comp they ran some burn out tests which screwed my battery, hp service is taking no responsibilty towards it. [text deleted]

Hi. I am experiencing the same problems you described in your post. My laptops (or the Nvidia GeForcce 105M video card to be more specific) overheats like crazy. To the point that my laptop slows down and eventually shuts down when it gets too hot. Agan, I think it is a video card problem, since it happens when I play videos.
I was just wondering what ever happened to your laptop after you sent it.
- How much did they charge you?
- Did they simply replace the heat sink several times?
- Did that solve your over heating issue?
- I am thinking on sending it in to hp, but I have my doubts. Do you think it'd be worth it?
Any response would be very helpfyul.
Thanks,
Enrique

  • BOSD, Battery issues and Heating problem after iOS 8 upgrade

i have upgraded my iPad mini to iOS 8. Ever since I upgraded to iOS 8 am facing blue screen issues and heating problem as well. This is really frustrating even the patch iOS 8.0.2 dint solve the problem. Are you guys listening our complaints. When will you fixing it.

The same thing happened to me on my 2012 Subaru Outback.  I'm not sure this will help you since you have a Honda, but I'm posting this just in case.
I paired the audio on my car with my iPhone 6.  However, when I turned the car off and back on again, the iPhone would not pair automatically.  I had to manually connect the iPhone with the car.  Turns out there are two separate bluetooth pairings on my car: one for phone which allows up to 5 devices and one for audio which allows only one device.  So I did the second bluetooth pairing for the phone (had already done the audio), and that fixed it.  YMMV

  • Heating problem and battery backup

Recently I bought a macbook pro (7 days). I am facing heating problem and its battery backup is also not good, 3-4 hrs, but company claims 7 hrs. What should I do?

For more on laptop temperature, look here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1778
    Take note of this part:
While there are third-party utilities that measure the temperature of a notebook computer, it is important to understand that these utilities are not measuring the external case temperature. The actual case temperature is much lower. Never use third-party applications to diagnose possible hardware issues—instead, contact Apple or go to an Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider.

  • Due to the rumored heat problems with the iPad 3, is there a danger in using a leather case design for it.

I recently purchased a 64 GB Verizon LTE iPad,  along with a Bear Motion leather case designed specifically for that model. I've been reading a lot about the heat problems with the new iPad and although I haven't noticed them on mine, I'm worried that putting it in the case may cause worse problems. Is this something I should be concerned about?

Unless you have a defective iPad you should be fine.  The only time it should be heating up is when you're running an intensive app like a game that's working the quad-core processor and the screen.  I bought a Targus leather case for mine and play InfinityBlade2 on it and haven't noticed any heating issues with mine, but the part holding the iPad is plastic, so it can disipate heat better.
If your iPad gets too hot it'll warn you, so I'd use it for now and see what happens.  It'll shut down before it causes any permanent damage.

  • Macbook Pro Core Duo, Normal heat problems???

Hi guys. I have a First Generation Macbook Pro, i bought it like 8 months ago from ebay. The guy that sold me this mac told me that it doesn't have any heat problems at all, but im just, im sorry, i can't say the same right now.
Since i receive, when it turns on, It's ALWAYS 45 (Centigrees), ok, even if i don't start any app, it heats up to 50-55. Well. Then, when im doing normal stuff (Like, You know, using Adium, Firefox, just web browsing and hearing some music with itunes) it heats up to 60-65... The worst come when i use photoshop and Dreamweaver. Gets to 68 to 78, and then i must start using 3rd party Apps for control the Fans of the computer (im using SmcFanControl) moving the fans to 4000 rpm... But the problem get's when im trying to play Starcrat or use any other app that runs with rosseta, Easy can get to 90...
The Macbook Pro never shut down because a heat problem, but im just worried about it, this is normal?, here is the normal Specs of my computer.
    Model Name: MacBook Pro 15"
    Model Identifier: MacBookPro1,1
    Processor Name: Intel Core Duo
    Processor Speed: 2.16 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 2
    L2 Cache: 2 MB
    Memory: 2 GB
    Bus Speed: 667 MHz
Other problem i have, is that the Battery of the macbook pro, when i unplug the power cable it just turn off, without any advice that my battery is getting out of power. Is this normal? The battery have been changed before, like a year ago (again, from the words of my ebay seller)...
There's anything can i do?. I have applecare and i still have coverage until March 2009.

The temperature ranges you report are "normal" and nothing to be concerned about.
Battery: Reset the SMC (System Management Controller) and re-calibrate the Battery every couple of months.

  • FireWire Audio Heat Problem (Macbook Pro, Late 2008) VIDEO proof

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYHnX3CGUoo
After a lot of hours of trying to figure out WHY my macbook pro heats up (a lot) when i connect my newly bought Apogee Duet firewire audio interface, i found out that actually what was happening is that there are CPU spikes of extremely short period (so short that Activity Monitor and iStat could not catch) constantly spiking the CPU frequency from 1596Mhz (Idle) to 2572Mhz (Maximum). Apart from the frequency spike there is also a VOLTAGE spike from 1.0v to 1.15.
I know that this is normal due to speedstep technologies and such BUT the rapid spiking and alterations of frequency and voltage ALWAYS happening when i have my Firewire audio plugged is not normal to me. There is nothing else running, everything's idle and i only plug the firewire interface.
Also this is not happening when i restrict OSX from loading AppleFWAudio.kext (either by deleting, moving, renaming it). I connect the firewire audio interface, the leds are illuminating but no heat problem (thats to show you that is not because the interface is self-powered)
Whats going on seems to be similar with the problems occurred after Mac Pro Audio Update to users that was using FW audio devices. They were hearing a sine noise coming from their macpro and propably that was because the same thing was happening. Constant spikes of voltage to the CPU. I dont have a macpro thought so i cant apply the update Apple released for that issue.
Also, my macbook is using Lucent / Agere (LSI) firewire chipset (the particular and known revision 6) but i dont think that this is the cause since Apogee didnt have any problems with the chipset
Info: The app im using to monitor the Frequency and Voltage is CoolBook, can be found here: http://www.coolbook.se/CoolBook.html

Firewire Audio disconnected / or AppleFWAudio.kext unloaded = Idle temp arround 50 celcius (iStat)
Firewire Audio Connected with AppleFWAudio.kext loaded = Idle temp arround 60 celcius (iStat)
If theres a possibility that this is due to bus powered firewire device (cause i have an external FW hard drive that is self-powered and temps are not rising when i connect it) then AppleFWAudio.kext maybe manages something with bus powered firewire.
Maybe when i have the interface connected but the kext not loaded the mA sucked by the interface are too little for causing a temp rise but by the time the kext is loaded and the interface is converting audio the mA required tops up so the temp rise comes from the mA load on the firewire bus and not the cpu itself.
*Even if that's the case, the rapid spikes of throttling on the cpu by the time the Firewire Audio interface is connected bothers me. This isn't something that should normaly happen on an idling machine.*

  • Signs that my iphone has heating problems?

what are signs that my iphone has heating problems?
I'm not sure whether to put it under "normal" heating or technical heating problem? I don't have a receipt because i got it as a gift, so what should i do to get it fixed from apple? thanks guys.
it gets hot around the ear piece area and the back of it if im on the phone for a good 5 minutes.

What is "slightly" warm to one may be painful to another.
The ear receiver should not get warm under any condition.

  • Practical solution for the Heat problem?

    Dear fellow Mac users,
I got my MacBook last friday. Yes, it's very Hot (temperature). I realised that you guys must be facing the same problem. I love this computer. But the heat is too much, i can't put it on my lap to work, when i travel...
Even typing on the keyboard for a long time in the library, i feel the heat coming out from the keyboard! so fustrating..
Are they any practical solution on how to reduce the heat? I dont want to dismantle the machine.
    Thank you very much!
    moses

Thanks for the recommendation of the pad. I guess it
will deplete the battery life quicker.
I am wonder, the heat problem, is it a APPLE's fault?
No, as Guitaristguy313 stated, the heat problem exist in most (or all?) Core Duo laptops, whether they are Apple branded or Sony branded or Dell branded. The MacBook is not running warmer than another Core Duo based laptop.
So it's apparently the normal operating temperature of Core Duo laptops.
That's not too surprising considering that Intel document its Core Duo to be in normal operating temperature if the cores of the CPU don't run higher than 100°C, and 100°C is a very high temperature.
Hopefully MacBooks Core Duo's cores generally don't run higher than 85°C, but while within specs according to Intel, it's still very high so it's not surprising that the notebook shell temperature is high also (according to a test on a website, the shell can reach 50°C when the Macbook is used intensively).
So if you really want to have a culprit for the high temperature of the Macbook (and in fact also other Core Duo notebooks), it would be Intel.

  • Heating problem from camera side

as i remember i used to play games for at least 2hours continuously and there was no heating problem with my Lumia 720.but now i am getting some issues with that. Only after 5min of normal usage it is starting radiating heat which i can feel . What is causing it to get hot only after few min of usage.

hmm. any device gets warm when you are playing games as it is stressing the processor and requiring more power usage. the amount of heat and power needed and created I have found to differentiate based on if GPS/data/camera are used a lot, where as others that are just resident on the device without connection don't seem to get as hot.

  • Dv6-3123tx - is facing over heating problem?

    Hi All,
I am planning to buy another LPTP
    my main requriment is :  intel  i5  ,  4 GB RAM ,  atlist 2.66GHZ cpu , 15" monitor.
So that I have chk hp following model :  dv6-3123tx its cost is  Rs.50,000/- INR
I have chked some review of  (dv6-3123tx) and some post is saying it is having over heating problem and hp is stoped to supply it in to the market.
can any one will me guide me in this case. or pls suggest some model.
    I m from India
my budget is up to Rs. 50,000/- INR =  $ 1050/- USD
    niranjan

i have bought the dv6-3123tx about 2 months back and i wouldnot recommend it to anyone too.
All i do i browse and sometime not even that. Leaving it on the table switched on make its go hot, so hot that you cant even type on the keyboard. And the sound the fan makes is annoying.
The touchpad is also one big disadvantage. it makes a sound each time you click. So you cannot work unless you have a mouse. Right now its so heated up that i can barely type (mostly on the left hand side of the laptop.
Also i was checking for remedies when I relaised that this laptop 3123 is not even listed in the HP products list:
    http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Nav?h_pagetype=s-001&h_lang=en&h_cc=in&h_product=4247579&h_client=s-s...
If you perform a search with this name, you wouldnot get any results. I guess i better take it to the store immediately before it burns my hand, else i would have to use it as an omlette maker.

  • Does NVidia GeForce 8800GT have a heat problem?

I have an older heavy-duty Mac Pro running with 8-core Intel 3.2Ghz Xeon processors and 18GBytes RAM, using an NVidia GeForce 8800GT display controller driving a 30' Apple Cinema display. After the Mac Pro has been on for half a day the white semitranslucent bars start to appear and gradually the screen goes to nearly all white if I leave it on long enough. In about an hour after I turn it off, the display is fine.
What component is the likely cause of this behavior? I do not hear any fan noise. Should I?
I have seen other reports of heat problems with temperatures and fan speeds mentioned. How do I find this out for the Mac Pro? MacOS verion is 10.6.3.

Less than 80ºC (load) is desired, but up to 85ºC may be seen. A good cooler would keep the processor down in the mid 60's to mid 70's under load.
Prolonged temps at and above the mid 90's will reduce component life.
Certainly temps over 100ºC would be terminal in the long run.
One would hope to see the card run between 50ºC at idle and no higher than the mid 80's under load.
Lower load temps (mid 70's) are better.......
The 8800 GT is getting old. Any card approaching or exceeding 5 years of use should have the thermal compound replaced.
All fan equipped graphics cards need to be kept clean and dust free. A dust clogged heat exchanger is almost as bad as no cooler at all.

  • Ideapad Y510 Heat problem

Hi, i am having a heat problem on my ideapad Y510, i have had it for about two years now. The specs are Intel core 2Duo 2.2Ghz2GB RamNvidia GeForce 8400M GS I have upgraded to Windows 7, recently the laptop has been getting very hot when using it to run demanding processes, so hot that i cant place it on my lap or rest my left hand on it (the entire left part of the computer gets hot) or i will get burnt after a few minutes. I would like to know what i can do to avoid this. Any help will be appreciated, thanks

First thing, check for dust build up by cpu heatsink, and clean it out. Unplugged, and with battery out, remove the Large panel on the bottomto check. Also be sure fan is working.

  • Heating problem, solution?

Hi, having just purchased a new Macbook Pro and looking around the forums I've noticed the heating problem that they seem to have. I'm running around 70c at some points. Whilst I can deal with this, and know most machines run warmer I was wondering if anyone had any experience with software designed to increase fan speed and thus cool the machine.
The reason I ask is because I found this and I'm not sure if I'm safe to use it, or if it even works.
    http://homepage.mac.com/holtmann/eidac/software/smcfancontrol2/index.html
Any advice would be welcome, though I'm probably being overly paranoid over my new machine.

Lewis, I'm not sure exactly what you are talking about or where you got your information about the "heating" issue. The new (Penryn) MacBook Pros actually run considerably COOLER, not hotter. Not only is this indicated by Apple and represented in many posts in this Forum, but also I know from experience as I had an older MBP (Intel Core Duo 2.16) and now have a new MBP 2.6 Penryn. My new MBP is much, much, MUCH COOLER! Indeed the new MBP rarely even gets warm to the touch even running several apps.

You'll have to contact the Authorized Apple Service Provider to get it serviced:
How do I obtain service for my iPhone?
The iPhone support site has troubleshooting articles to help you solve your iPhone issue on your own. If you have reviewed those articles and still need service for your iPhone, you can contact an iPhone Authorized Service Provider or contact Apple if you purchased your iPhone directly from Apple. Note: There may be a fee for diagnostic service. Please do not send any accessories with your iPhone because they will not be returned to you.
How can I tell if my iPhone is in-warranty?
Apple’s Limited Warranty for iPhone begins on the date that the iPhone is originally purchased and covers the iPhone for one year from that date. To determine your warranty coverage, find your iPhone serial number or IMEI and either enter it in Apple's Check Your Service and Support Coverage tool or contact an iPhone Authorized Service Provider. The iPhone Authorized Service Provider may need to examine the original sales receipt for your iPhone or another valid proof-of-purchase document to verify your iPhone's warranty status.
Note: The service coverage information described at the Apple Support site is based on the date-of-purchase information available to Apple, depending on when or whether you registered your product or if you purchased it from an Apple Authorized Reseller.
