Dv camcorder stops working

I have just bought a sony handycam DCR-HC32E. When i connect the camcorder to my mac a G3 500 mhz with panther 10.3.9 it works but after a while the camcorder can be operated by imovie 3.3 but i get a blue screen telling me what the camcoder is doing but i cant veiw it on screen only though the camcorder the only way to get it back is to restart the mac i have read some or the other posts and have tried switching off the mac for 30 mins and i don't have garage band has anyone got any suggestions

I have the same problem - I can view the video on the camera, and use the play controls, but can not import video. I do not have Garage Band on my computer, and would like to try changing the audio settings as instructed to through the Audio MIDI setup (see below). My problem is that when I open the Audio MIDI Setup as instructed I can see that the current format is set to (2CH-44100.00HZ-16bit), but I can not make any changes to the setting. Even though it shows drop-down arrows, when I click the arrows it simply highlights the current setting and won't let me change it. Any help is very much appreciated - thank you in advance.

Camera / Camcorder stopped working

Hi,
I don't know if this was a one-off bug or maybe a problem in the making. But I went to the Verizon store at 8am Thursday 7/15 and got the Droid-X. By 3pm Saturday 9/17 the camera / camcorder just stopped working. Black screen. No button functionality. Did a battery removal "reboot" and also a hard factory reset. Didn't fix it.
My replacement Droid came 7/22 and it seems fine now. Sad news was - on my very first trip to Philadelphia - I had no camera / camcorder on the phone to document my trip. Oh well. Guess that means I have to make a return trip

B33's answers do make alot of sense, but I'd like to add a possibility if I could. You may try running in safe mode, and see if your cameras and recorder works then... if so, then the culprit messing up your vid cam and sound recorder is one of your 3rd party apps. Safe mode disables these for diagnostic purposes. Worth a shot...

MacBook Pro (March 2008 Model) AVCHD has stopped working from my SD5

I'm seriously perplexed here. I have just upgraded my MBP to the latest top spec 15", done a data migration and my FCP 6.0.2 had stopped working with my Panasonic SD5! Bizarre!
So - complete erase and install of 10.5.2 and re-installed FCS2 and....still won't work! Have tried everything. Why has it suddenly stopped working with a camera is used to be fine with.
The SD card is mounting. The .mts files are good (Voltaic HD will see and convert them). FCP 6.0.3 seems to be fine in all other respects. Open Log & Transfer window though...and nothing!
AHHHHH! Just about to go traveling for three months and can't use my camcorder!!!!

Perian 1.1 does not help, though I see a lot of people have used it to get the SD9 working. I have an SD5 which did work fine and now doesn't. As an update to the situation, I have now discovered that it will actually see my SD5 if I leave the Log & Transfer window up for about 4-5 minutes. The clips just suddenly appear and I can ingest them, however, if you close the L&T window down and open it up again - you have to wait another 5 minutes for the clips to appear. It is not the camera (I have tried it at work) - freshly installed 10.5.2 (erase and install) and fresh FCS2 (doing incremental updates from 6.0.1 to 6.0.3 and checking in between) The only thing I can think of is that these new MacBook Pro's have firmware version MBP41.00C1.B03.

Windows message that reads APE's has stopped working

I have a new Sony Vaio and Premiere Elements 4 was preinstalled when I bought it. I'm now trying to create a movie and I've never used PE before, I can add various clips into the sceneline as well as titles, but when I go to preview my video in the preview screen it plays about 10 secs of a clip before just closing the whole program down and coming up with a Windows message that reads
"Adobe Premiere Elements.exe has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
I haven't had a solution! Please help, its really frustrating, I just want to get started with my movie and I can't.

You don't say what operating system you're using, what your system specs are or, most importantly of all, what type of camcorder your video came frame, but all of these things can affect the program's performance.
Another large factor is outdated firmware and, especially, outdated Quicktime.
Because there are so many possibilities, I'd recommend you contact Adobe Tech Support and do some troubleshooting with them.

Green pixels in clips cause 'premiere elements.exe stopped working error.'

I have a jvc everio camcorder - PAL. I have copied files from the camcorder to my computer. My computer is running Vista SP1 with 2Gb ram.
The files appear to import to PElements 4 however when playing or rendering the clips I get an error adobe premiere elements.exe has stopped working.
I have noticed that the clips have green pixels appear at the point where PE crashes. All clips seem to have this problem.
I have followed the suggestions from the knowledge base re: updating codecs, disabling startup items, updating video driver.
I don't have the cyberlink software that came with the jvc. I bought premiere elements as I had read that it would be able to read the jvc files.
Has anyone got any other suggestions?

Thanks for the redirect. The solution to my problem was to follow this suggestion from that thread:
I was having the same JVC Everio/Elements 7 problem. I tried renaming the .mod extensions to .mpg and .avi, but still had the green artifacts. After an hour on the phone with Ronald, a VERY helpful Adobe Service Tech, I seem to have a solution that is working on my 5 edit stations here in my AV Lab.
Go to the Adobe Elements 7 folder in your "Program Files" folder and open the "Plug Ins" and "en_US" folders. Find a file called ImporterFastMPEG.prm and remove it. I moved it to the desktop until I test the software totally and make sure this doesn't cause other problems. If you are a brave, go ahead and delete it.
This is working for me, and avoids all that renaming - reprocessing the .mod files. So far, so good!

Premiere Elements 4.0 stops working when adding a title

Whenever I add a title, it quickly goes to "Adobe Premiere Elements.exe has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available"
What to do? Thank you in advance for any input on the matter.

First, note that this is a user-to-user forum. If you want to contact Adobe, you'll need to call or write them on their main site.
That said, as the note says at the top of the forum, you're going to have to provide us a lot more information if you want us to help you. "Stopped working" doesn't tell us much. Does this mean that it was working in the past but then stopped? What stopped? What did it do that it's not doing now? What were you doing when it stopped? Was it when you were adding video to your project, for instance?
What operating system are you using? If Windows, have you manually gone to Windows Update and made sure you've got the non-critical updates, which don't download automatically to your system? Have you ensured you have the latest version of Quicktime, per the program's requirements?
How fast is your processor, how much RAM do you have and how much free, clean, defragmented space is on your hard drive?
What model of camcorder is your video coming from and what format and resolution is it? Did you use Premiere Elements to get the video from your camcorder to your Premiere Elements project?

Tagging pics and docs has stopped working. Why?

I was in the process of organising and then docs and pigs wouldn't tag any more. I can no longer see the 'all tags' sliding bar at the bottom. Have I done something, so that I can no longer tag?

Pr 8 El stops working

Hello everyone,
Since more than 2 years I use Pr El 8 without any significant problem. However, recently when I edit my movies, the program simply stops when I render a movie, it only renderes a few minutes in the time-line (and it is not possible that it continues) and when I want to share a movie (on HDD / DVD) that is only rendered for -let's saý- 30%: Pr El 8 stops working and shuts itself down.... I reinstalled the software, but that didn't help. I use the same hardware as I did when everything was fine....
Does anyone know what the problem is here and what I can do to fix this?

This camcorder shoots in a number of modes. Which mode are you shooting in?
If you plan on editing in Premiere Elements, I recommend you shoot in HX mode with a 60i frame rate. (Do NOT shoot in 60p or 24p or you'll have problems later.)
Then, when you start your Premiere Elements project, make sure you set it up for Full AVCHD 1920x1080. Your camcorder can also shoot in stereo or 5.1 audio. Make sure that whichever you do shoot in, you set up your project for that audio format also.
You also don't say how you're getting the video from the camcorder to your computer, but I'd recommend you use Premiere Elements' Video Importer, acccessed by clicking on the Get Media button and select the option for Flip, AVCHD and Hard Disk Camcorder.
Then, when you're finished with your movie, rather than trying to go directly to a DVD, go to Share/Computer/AVI and output a DV-AVI of your video. Just to see if it works.
If so, we'll tell you where to go from there.

Itunes wont open and gives me a message saying "Itunes has stopped working". What can I do to fix this?

First you can try;
Try restarting PC and run itunes again!
If error again than perform clean instal of itunes (uninstal first and than instal again)!

I reloaded iTunes 10 (64 bit) successfully, but the problem remains the same.
Any suggestions?

I looked in the folder from which I want to synch photos, but there is no such thing as an "ipod photo cache" in that folder, or sub-folders, as suggested in the link which you were nice enough to provide.
I have also tried removing photos from my iPad2 Photos App, and "iTunes has stopped working" shows up again as soon as I click on the "Synch photos from" button.

OK I have a Toshiba Satellite L300 Laptop and ever since I installed a printer software on Wednesday night, my laptop has suddenly stopped working!
Ever since Thursday night, I have been trying to get it working but I'm faced with this message:
when i load it up it goes to Windows error recovery:
'windows has failed to start.a recent hardware or software change might be the cause

then it gives two options: Launch startup repair (recomended)

-then a scren loads up called 'system recovery options'.. it says: select an operating system to repair and click next.only windows vista operating systems are listed and can be repaired

but nothing comes up so i click load drivers and it just gives me loads of random folders...and i haven't a clue which ones to load

-system restore just says your computer is in a limited state and performing this action cannot be changed...but there is no option to do so

If the problem is installed software, start notebook in safe mode and try to start system restore from there.

I have uninstalled iTunes several times and reinstalled it on my PC running Window 7 with all updated loaded. When I click on the iTunes Store Box, Nothing happens except for a message that reads:

I had this exact same problem. I found this fix and it worked for me.
Step 1:
Browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support and copy the filen named QTMovieWin.dll.
Step 2:
Browse and past that file into C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes.
Hope this helps you. I wish I could remember where I saw this originally so I could thank them.

Can't get itunes. I get the following message when I click on either the shortcut or the program. It says ITunes has stopped working and I can either check on line for a solution and close the program or just close the program.

When I click on the itunes shortcut or the program I get the following message:
ITunes has stopped working. My two options are: Windows can check on line for a solution to the problem or close the program.
It seems that my entire library is not there. If I sync my ipod will it add it back into my library on the computer?
I've even tried installing again and nothing works. Tried the "repair" and it says that ITunes is loaded but I stil get the above error when I try to open the program.
